With that, most will be facing A Gael 1) overleveled and 2) at the peak of their skills. Also, Gael is almost like a mix and match of many bosses together. Also, he is ment to be the last goodbye to Dark Souls, so having him have bullshit attacks wouldn't leave a good taste in people's mouths. To your point, to me the hardest bosses from any SoulsBorne game on first play throughs are Frieda and The Nameless. On NG+ Frieda is still the hardest, since some attacks aren't as choreographed.

Gael at most has a 5 hit combo and pontiff like a 3 hit, just like the majority of bosses in DS3 and all the attacks are pretty easy to dodge if you just go in with a "I need to delay everything" mentality.
trick is to kill the bird quick. i went in with a fully upgraded dragon slayer great axe, got the bird down to 20% hp in the first 30 seconds with just a couple of hits. but i died so many times until that point. second phase isn't that difficult, his attacks are very easy to dodge once you get used to them. bird is just annoying. the actual boss fight is the one you have with the camera lol
As a sorcerer I got through the bird phase with 4-5 attacks great heavy soul arrow x3 then it got staggered and got in close then after the animation another soul arrow
id say nameless is the hardest boss in fromsoft (for me at least), took me about 7 hours to beat him, took me so long mostly because i had a slow weapon, having a faster didnt make it easy tho

He's not strong it's just you literally can't get more than just one hit at a time which messes with people. And I think Dragonslayer armor is even worse in this regard, that thing has no chill.

I have found that while two handing a ultra great sword (black knight great sword for me) that staying really close to the Nameless King is actually the safest bet. Just get your roll timing down. This is the fourth time I beat him. I discovered this on my third time beating him, but this confirmed it for me. God I'm so relieved.
He probably would have finished the game if the comments on stream told him to put the heads on the thrones at the fire shrine instead of going to the secret area to fight the Nameless King. I know they want the series to last longer but their choice made him drop out of the game again.
I struggled so much when I first fought NK back then. DS3 was my first souls like games and I used to fought NK with 2hand glass cannon build. It was so hard and probably my favorite boss ever in all of souls like games

People over exaggerate Nameless King's difficulty so much. If you are not greedy, he's easily beatable. The attack patterns are the easiest to get used to, all his attacks are well telegraphed and dodge-able.
Devs be like, this time let's make a boss so huge so it doesn't fits the screen and the player won't be able to see it properly so eventually it would become a hard boss fight

I've always felt like Nameless King is difficult because of how easy it actually is.. sure he has a few faster combos, but he telegraphs everything he does and it's more often than not those awkwardly slow combos that catch people after their panic roll. If you can just focus and learn his moves, he's about as easy as Abyss Watchers after you figured those out..

You’re bound to hit rough patches in life, but if you don’t keep pushing forward, you’ll get stuck in the rough patch far longer than you need to.
