Following a bitter separation from his wife (Bello), famed mystery writer Mort Rainey (Depp) is unexpectedly confronted at his remote lake house by a dangerous stranger named John Shooter (Turturro). Claiming Rainey has plagiarized his short story, the psychotic Shooter demands justice. When Shooter's demands turn to threats - and then murder - Rainey turns to a private detective (Dutton) for help. But when nothing stops the horror from spiraling out of control, Rainey soon discovers he can't trust anyone or anything. A shocking psychological thriller from the writer of Panic Room, David Koepp. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Who else thought Ted had it coming?
You, me, the 16 other people who liked this comment, the people who applauded when he got hit with the shovel during this film's test screenings, and 99.8% of the rest of the people who have seen this movie 😂😂
Who also thought Amy had it coming?
@@alanhoughton660 Really. Did people actually applaud when Ted got hit in test screenings?
@helenyates1267 yep; according to David Koepp in one of the BTS documentaries on the DVD the audience they first showed the film to actually clapped when Ted gets hit in the face with the shovel 😎
Amy actually went to Ted because Mort was acting strange and she was freaked out.
His wife was so entitled throughout the entire movie
You mean she was just a typical woman?
Anybody who Ayaka
Speaks of entitlement wants you lowering your standards.
Next thing you know your high maintenance and grandiose
I swear the film from when he enters the house right up to the wife's murder is possibly some of the best acting Johnny has ever done and it is seriously underrated.
she cheated on him and she is making more excuses to cheat what a bad woman and she screams for his friend she only cares for her cheater
A vigilante (protagonist villain) won
@@LuannOsbourne better start running away from you because i think you belong to the same category where the woman in the movie belong
Amber Heard needed John Shooter coming for her 😂😂
Lololololol
Goddamn. You’re right!
🤣
No, she didn’t. Depp did.
@Markunator get out of here turd supporter
Even though we can’t see it, we can tell right when Amy is killed by the sound of the music
A pity theres no staby sound.
Big question is what actually happened? Was she decapitated with the shovel or did she just stab her with it using a lot of force?
@@shadow_raven1983She was decapitated.
This movie was way ahead of its time! Too bad they didn't cast Amber Heard!
Ted was a douche.. I remember how mad I was at the scene when he was like "You need to stay out of our lives" ...MF, I literally hid myself in a secluded cabin.
Beautiful ending
I love happy ending 😊
It is not
@@khalilreid shut up butt pirate yes it is
"I know I can do it," Todd Downey said, helping himself to another earn of corn from the steaming bowl. "I'm sure that in time, her death will be a mystery, even to me."
It's "ear of corn".
Mort sounds like a UPS worker in my area. Lol
This was such a top tier movie.
The ending reminds me if the shining for some reason especially when she sees the word shooter everywhere
This movie final plot graph structure it was twisted story. I like this movie, score 9/10
1:04 Whats impressive is he could manage to write shooter all around the house just before she enter it.
He didn't do it all in the time she arrived. If you watch the clip where he's talking to Shooter the last time the camera zoomed into and through the mirror to show we (the audience) had been inside the mirror the entire time. Now that we're out we see that his cabin was actually a wreck the entire time and not clean. This is why he saw the back of his head in the mirror. He was inside his head looking out. This is also why the huge crack appeared in the middle of the building. His fake reality was cracking and shattering. Everything we saw in the movie was from Morts perspective until we go on the other side of the mirror. But Mort was insane. I watched an extra for the movie and the director pretty much explains it.
@@KamdonBailey thx for the explanation
He was writing it in the hallucination
i liked this scene this made my adrenaline pump up
He needs to chillaxxxxxxxx… Mr Rainey…. Chillaxx..
This is James Barrow secret window is a great movie
Johnny Depp having issues with a blonde ex-wife?So predictable.
Every couple should see this movie. Nobody will have dare to cheating
Maybe if I showed this movie to my ex when we were still dating, she’d still be with me.
@@iluvmetal6294Try to mimic Mort
1:02
I magine that's how he was tormented by his ex... poor guy..
Yeah..
This scene still haunts me 😖
I just watched this movie thinking I was going to see Depp in a whole new life of acting, and boy oh boy was I surprised, scared me a little bit but his acting skills are far beyond the Jack Sparrow character, he's truly amazing.. at the ending he shined like a beacon in the night. He went xxxx dark.. you scared me Johnny..
That accent he does kills me... "i never putta hand on 'im missus, i swear"😂🤠
This is James Barrow johnny Depp is Cool
She deserves it for not being faithful loyal patient and understanding
Much better ending than the book. I hated the book because of the ending. For those that don’t know Mort dies in the book before he can kill them.
It's ironic that Timothy Hutton played a similar character in The Dark Half. Thad Beaumont had to deal with the same challenge as Mort Rainey but with a different setting and outcome.
4:55 A’yo Depp, Finnish this off
So I thought Forth Worth was a more creepy neighbourhood than yours.
They're so creepy the churches don't have photos of the decor like in bad neighbourhoods in Johannesburg. It's coz little Jimmy has a throwing axe, doesn't he :-/
"Todd Downey thought that a woman who would steal your fries, when your fries were all you had wasn't much of a woman,"
I feel like this is the guy story of Amber Heard.
For all of those who think they deserved it clearly you didn’t understand the movie
What does he mean when he say "He took the cowards' way out" ?
I think....instead of accepting john shooter as part of the personality, Mort Rainess disappear and all thats left is John Shooter.
@@eleethtahgra7182 And I thought afterwards, he went back to being Mort but now I realise he may be Shooter acting as Mort.
Go Mort! 😈
💃🏼🕺🏼
A happy ending!
I used to sit on the 28 Days Later watch of an evening, once I saw a link to a place called Grave's end in Tennessee: very boring type of river escape Sheds-And-Fishing-Lines type of Hamlet. So my pal's like "So where are the zombies?" I was like "Nothing, matey. F*ckin snake eyes. I see no zombies here."
"What about this flatbed trailer with the air con on the top. Air con right, so the fish that are fifty yards away can f*cking BREATHE,"
"..." I replied. "Pending", my eyes said
"I...uh...can't see inside the trailer."
"Anything could be in there,"
"Yeah, in theory, but we'll never know. If it was real zombies they'd be on the news right?"
"Sure. If we guessed their secret code."
"F*ck a f*cking secret code. They should just say straight out,"
"Do you reckon they will? "
1:20 Wait, Amy recognized Shooter’s hat but Mort didn’t? I don’t get it. 🤷♂️
Willy Wonka kills Amy.
Yes, it is possible for her to visit the ex hubby.
Its along the line of "Its okay to be friend with an ex"
Also, civility make folks forget....that humans are all one step away from violence.
I love how people are sympathizing with Mort. I mean yes he was cheated on and hurt badly, but are we just gonna ignore he's literally a psychopath?
Anyways, outstanding acting from Johnny Depp, as always.
You do realise this is fiction right? There is no Mort. People saying 'I like him' doesn't mean 'Hmm maybe I should do that as well.'.
@@florinivan6907 You do realize people's opinion on fictional stories, says a lot about them, right?
If I told you that I read the book 1984, and that I thought that kind of system seems pretty decent, don't you think you'd be correct to assume that I might have some fascistic ideas that I support?
Rhetorical question btw.
@@jd7634 But you can go overboard. There's a slippery slope from 'your licking of x fictional character troubles me' to 'his artistic tastes are dangerous to the community'. It can easily go to that level. You can easily go 1984 without realising it. Authoritarian regimes don't say they're bad. They almost always justify it as protection and security. At some point dislike for artistis tastes can turn into opression. Very fast. You don't even realise it.
He's not acting out a psychopathic character. Psychotic, surely.
You're low informed to know the difference between psychopath and psychosis/schizophrenic.
Psychopaths get convicted and jailed, psychotic schizophrenics go to medical facilities for treatment.
He was a calm mild-mannered man who never had it in him to kill, but an episode broke him mentally along with drinking and isolation and he developed serious schizophrenia with psychotic episodes.
There is a movie like this with a guy with 2 personalities,the 1 is a killer with a hoody,but I don't know the name
The Dark Half
@@kyrozudesoya1829 no,the movie I mean it's after 2000
Only ones coming to my mind is Split (2016) but he has a bunch of personalities so I'm not sure that's the one. Or Thr3e (2006) or Identity (2003). Those are my best guesses.
@@seanwalters1977 isn't split,I know it,I'll search the others
Locks her car door and leaves the passenger window down.
And forgets to take off the brakes
I hate inept characters, bad writing in this part. Too easy to kill them, made simple mistakes (more than enough time to get away in the car, could've waited to warn the guy better before getting hit with the shovel, why does your voice go out getting hit on the head? If she got knocked out, fine , but still conscious? she'd be able to be more responsive) You don't want your good guys to be dumb, because it takes away from the power of your villain. Good movie ruined by this hacky wrap up
😂
Good morning, do you realise that lungs, your voice box, mouth are all muscles? Muscles are controlled by your brain, so when you get hit to the head, your brain starts focusing on protecting itself, not on making itself work properly. Thus not caring about muscles that brain does not need to survive, you do not need to speak to survive etc. And even if it needed it to survive it's all shaken up from trauma from getting hit that it can't focus completely on making muscles work at 100% capacity.
People panicking is a thing yeah?
@@seanwalters1977 you understand what I mean when I said writing inept characters makes them less likeable yeah? This is a comment about writing not human biology goof
@@AJRickson I mean it’s pretty obvious that’s what was happening but ok. Speaking of biology, do you know what a concussion is and what it does to your motor functions?
Repeating the same lines in the ending shot was a waste because they used the lines here as well
