xbox 360 uno was so wild back in the day. I remember vividly when this one guy kept doing a backflip on the camera everytime he drew a draw 4 to taunt us
The good old days you could play UNO on Xbox 360 and Messenger with school friends (I miss 2007 so much) and then jump to the most civilized discussions about someone else's mom on MW2. Xbox Live was wild and peaceful.
13:05 this game is MASSIVELY underrated, still free for modern Xbox’s and if u wanna listen to music and chill to a very easy and mechanically fun and satisfying yet very simple puzzle game play it
I remember Uno having a trial version that didn't have all the features. I specifically remembering purchasing the full game after getting frustrated about the limits of the trial. I think it may have been limited to default rules with no stacking and local play only. That may be where some of the confusion comes from about it being "free"
13:37 it says "xbox live arcade game (see side panel for details)" in the includes section on the box there, so i assume it was one of the possible games that came with it
I loved playing this version of Uno so much back in that day that I spent my allowance of Microsoft points to buy it despite already having it on the compilation disk. So much of my childhood was spent with games from that compilation disk such as Viva Piñata, Feeding Frenzy, Pac-Man and Luxor 2!
My first experience with Uno online was watching someone "finishing" on cam... On the other hand the face scanning on Vegas 2 was hilarious so the cam wasn't that bad an addition
I remember having the demo on my second Xbox 360(1st one RRoD) Never had the opportunity to play online and a decade and a half later I am hearing ‘horror’ stories about their player experience from back then. That vision camera was a death trap for unsuspecting victims.
Oh my gosh I miss the Xbox avatars so much - of course, they still exist, but they're not used at all like they were in the past I miss seeing them appear in games and I miss seeing it on the home screen too :(
They helped the console feel so alive, it feels soulless now :( I'm not even sure why MS put so much effort into making a new avatar system, and then proceed to not use it, or give devs the ability to easily do so.
THIS WAS THE DEFINITIVE ONLINE UNO EXPERIENCE! I remember playing this a lot when I first got my Xbox 360 with the UNO bundled in with the Xbox Arcade disc. It even has better game servers than the UNO Ubisoft made lol
I remember this version! I bought it forever ago, bought a Xbox Live Vision camera months and months later to find out it had a code for the Uno game. I ended up giving the code to my friend so I’d finally have someone to play the game with
Have you ever considered a video on Shadowrun 2007? I'd imagine it'd be a little bit of a pain but it's a interesting piece of gaming as one of *the* first crossplay titles and a weird few months where Microsoft was trying to force Vista on gamers. I helped dev and test the old Halo 2 Windows XP hack along with Shadowrun. We got far but the closest was being able to sign into GFWL and update both GFWL and H2V. I think we gave up on Shadowrun after making it launch and play sp. There was no real reason for MS to lock both games behind Vista when neither used the dx10 API. Just money in their eyes.
I never played Shadowrun but I remember the GameStop employee who always helped me out when I was a kid played it heavy I dunno, probably not a dedicated video but I do want to do a Games for Windows documentary
First i heard reference to the "Uno on Xbox" meme was during the height of Fire Emblem Three Houses hype, and all the memes that spawned. Stuff like upside-down Claude or Flayn and Seteth being stuck in the McDonalds play area. Was also my introduction to online animator Pringus-mcdingus.
I'd watch videos from The Crew and NobodyEpic's Shit From Last Week series all the time a decade ago. I was so caught off guard when that clip became a mainstream meme.
My memory is a little hazy but I'm fairly certain there was another vision camera bundle with Uno that also included PGR4; pretty sure I bought it back in 2009 or so, I'll have to check the order history on my mom's Amazon account to see if there's any record of it. EDIT: Misremembered, was thinking of the 12-month messenger gold pack which included the chatpad rather than the vision camera.
I remember playing Uno on my 360. I remember it being an early game people bought (yes, bought) because it was a quick 200 gamer points. I still have it on my 360, with all four extra decks. I had a lot of fun with it. Enough that I've bought both the Steam/Uplay and Windows Marketplace versions. Neither were quite as good.
Not sure how to explain it, but I feel like if I somehow met any of the people I talked shit to back in the 360 era, we would be friends. I feel like that’s not possible for people nowadays.
This was very interesting and informative. What about that Uno MSN game that you talked about? Do you know if it had any new cards or special rules? Or was it just the same exact thing as regular Uno?
It was as, far as I am aware, identical to the 360 version. It didn’t get the DLC decks and probably didn’t have ranked matchmaking but otherwise it seems to have the same features as the Xbox version.
I still have it installed on my 360. Unfortunately, RROD. But the hard drives are removable, so theoretically I could pop it in another and still play it.
God I didn't even realise Uno's on the Live compilation disc. Always used that to play Pac-Man and nothing else. (and it sure didn't come with my eggsbox... I bought the darn thing used :D )
What makes this version so different than the later Ubisoft published version that you said was bad? I recently played that and at face value they look pretty much identical. Nice to see Uncle Derek.
Lack of filtering or custom match searching, leading to rapid drop in and drop out of people who don’t like your rule set (or alternatively getting locked into lobbies with rule sets you don’t like) and honestly the UI/game feel is just slow and clunky
Really had anyone heard of the 7/0 rule hand swap thing in the new uno game BEFORE that came out? I know, everyone plays differently but that’s ridiculous
My most played UNO game is definetely, the DSi one, not the DS game, the DSiWare downloadable game that I think it was 800 Nintendo Points which I got them for free with the stars in the old Nintendo Club rewards system, I've played that game a lot, solid version tho
I used to play UNO on Xbox 360, but I was put off by the fact that in single player, the A.I always gives you (and only you) the worst cards whenever possible! Which makes this game the hardest iteration of UNO I've played to come back to. So no, I don't think it's the best version of UNO in video game form, in regards to single player that is. People who say it's the best pretty much only play it online, which is fair enough I suppose. But if you wanted to play alone, the scummy A.I opponents will only ruin the experience. Personally, I always preferred UNO Rush anyway. It was a refreshing take on the format and it was one that made it possible to play local multi-player, at a time before you could use your smart phone devices to prevent screen cheating.
