Paid $700 for my Night Cobra and absolutely love it. The grip is perfect for me and the action is incredibly smooth. No stacking on the trigger either. I love everything about this gun and consider it a good investment. Need to shoot one before commenting on it.
The suggested retail price is $899. You can buy one for $100 less. You just need to shop around. The Night Cobra has the smoothest trigger and the best ergonomics for a concealed carry handgun. I own S&W, Ruger and Taurus revolvers.
I shot one this weekend. This gun is great. Light - but not to light, 6 shots with more reinforcement between the “charge holes” than a Kimber and accurate. What’s not to like?
I believe the Night Cobra has a DLC coating, not Ceracoat. It also has a tritium night sight. Your right though, they're a little over priced. List is $899.
MSRP of the stainless Cobra is $699, and MSRP of the Night Cobra is $899. Your local shop has it marked $100 higher than MSRP. The Night Cobra has a DLC finish to it, which is not a cheap process (cheaper for a company to mass produce, sure). A reputable shop will charge you at least $200 to DLC finish a stainless revolver, if not more. The grips are a personal preference thing, and the bobbed hammer is targeted for people who will carry this gun. Based on the MSRP difference, I don't think it's far off...but $999? Yeah, that's the shops fault. They either bought it from their distributor way above MSRP, or they have a high mark up on it. Quick search shows several online shops selling the Night Cobra for $820-900, and the stainless Cobra for ~$600. I totally forgot about the night sight on the front. That's at least another $30 or so. Finish, grips, and front sight are definitely a $250 option if you were to do it to the Stainless offering.
Derek Horn I guess looking at it from that perspective is alittle different, but over all, unless you 100% wanted that on your gun, you would be better off just taking the stainless cobra and customizing it how you want it. But I’m glad you could inform me on the DLC finish and the process and cost behind it. Although your math adds up, I can’t see people paying 800-1000 dollars for this gun. It will probably be about a 2-3 year run, if that, and then will be discontinued. If anyone buys any of these they might actually be worth something one of these days. Who knows. Did you see where colt unveiled the “bright cobra” recently? I’ll have a video on it very soon.
You're absolutely right. Unless you 100% want all those features/upgrades, I don't think it's worth the ~$200 increase (when looking at MSRP prices). $1000 at your local shop? No way in hell. Frankly, I would never pay more than ~$450 for a current production .38Spl. Colt is only selling these because of the name, and frankly, Colt's today are not the same as Colt's from 30 years ago. Only a fool would buy one of these new production Colt's as an "investment". Hadn't heard of the Bright Cobra until now, but according to TFB, it's just a polished stainless version. Brass bead front sight, frame trench rear sign, SA/DA, 6 shot .38Spl with a MSRP of...$1299. What?? $1300?? It's basically Colt's version of a Smith model 64, which has a MSRP of only $689 (but sell for ~$575). Just nuts.
$899 is the price point on the Colt site.....if truly was a concealed carry revolver this is a great option. Price is not the only factor and that's all you focused on. Thanks for your advice though
I just looked at the Night Cobra on Colt's website and it has that bobbed hammer, which makes it really appealing to me. Im thinking about getting one.
I own/carry/on-duty a 1966 production Colt Detective Special. Purchased in the early 70's, at a little over 150-dollars. Outrageous price at that time, but it supplemented the Colt Official Police .38 that I carried on duty. This off-spring of my Detective Special, this current Night Cobra .38 is one I would love. The price of 699-dollars is outrageous here in 2019, ,just like the 150-dollar price tag was in the 1970's for my blue steel DS. Colt arms, in pre and post war times, have always excelled in quality, in craftsmanship, in the engineering, in the fitting of the firearm at the factory, in the numerous inspections before being released for sale. These mentioned attributes stood Colt off by themselves for a while, especially in pre-war times. After WWII, Colt was "unionized" and this started their downslide and demise from the large contract sales of revolvers to law enforcement agencies. The reason Colt lost these vital contract sales was NOT because of an inferior production line offering, but because the price war between Colt and S&W turned into a sales beat-down for Colt! The prices of the Official Police , Police Positive Special, and Detective Special went sky high to meet the employee wage & benefit demands of the Union! When the prices went up, the sales went down for Colt, because S&W was selling their line of law enforcement handguns for much cheaper prices. City Managers notice little things like that and in about a 20-year period (1948-1968), or not long after the union formed, Colt ceased to be serious competition for anybody! S&W was not unionized and did not have employee strike problems like Colt did in post war times. Colt still is union and that is WHY the Night Cobra is 699-dollars. Hell yes, I would want one but not at 699-dollars. Union was Colt's demise They built some great cop revolvers in their day. The Official Police and Police Positive Special were the "best" of the "best"! Both models had a master craftsman that hand-hones and hand-fitted the trigger-action into these plain jane fixed sight .38 service revolvers. Many gun people are ignorant to the magnificent factory production history of these two "classic" Colt .38's. The Detective Special was "the" carry on-duty snubby for investigators in the PD I served in the 70's real time! Great firearms, unmatched quality, you betcha! Over priced, hell yes!
No disrespect to you however, I do not believe that people making a living wage causes quality to go down the tubes, not all by itself. Becoming a third world nation won't help. Bean counters and greedy corporations make decisions that impact quality not just workers. The buying public also has something to do with it. Simply put a corporation wants to make as much money as possible and will indeed historically cut corners to do so if they can get away with it. Having a bunch of non skilled employees, a lack of quality control and using lower quality materials and crappy customer service put Remington on the skids in my opinion. Similar was the fate of Winchester lowering the quality of the model 94 and model 70 . A race to the bottom doesn't help anyone in the long run just a few greed balls in it for a quick buck. Another aspect is the dollar backed by nothing of tangible value and the system of inflation we live under as a result. Finally , the high initial sticker price is nothing new on new products or bring backs ...the old adage to wait at least a year is sound advice.
So, about a year and a half later, you can get one for $600 or less (for the Night Cobra; the regular Cobras can be had for less); good things come to those who wait. MSRP was and is $899, which is NOT $1000; that store you like jacked it up because it was brand new. A fightin' revolver should be DAO, have a durable finish (like DLC), and night sights; the Night Cobra ticks all these boxes; Smith & Wesson couldn't produce a similar (but inferior, IMHO) Night Guard series for less than $1200; why the hate for Colt?
Colt has always charged a premium. Back in 1981, I bought a Colt Trooper .357 Magnum with 6" barrel. It has a beautiful blue finish, nicer than contemporary S&W revolvers, but it was a good $59 to $100 more than the S&Ws. That was a LOT of difference back then. A year later I got a Colt .45 ACP Gold Cup National Match, for the then very dear sum of almost five hundred bucks. It is a tack driver, well finished, and now a cherished heirloom for my kids, but man, back then it took a bite out of my discretionary income! There were far fewer competitive offerings back then. Ever since the explosion of well made, reasonably priced foreign and domestic offerings, I've never looked at another Colt.
jmfa57 Great comment man! Thanks for all of the information. From my calculations, 50$ in 1981 is about 150$ in 2018. That being said, 500$ in 1981 is right at 1400$ in 2018. That’s some crazy cash. I guess when comparing their pricing to later firearms it isn’t that bad, but, in comparison to the base model colt cobra, I still think colt is out of line for asking 1K for this gun. If the normal cobra was closer to 1K then I guess I could understand, but at the price it’s at right now, I don’t see why or how colt would do this. But also, I haven’t looked at any new colts lately either. There are plenty of brands that beat colt when it comes to build quality and quality control now a days. I’ve heard from a bunch of people that there are a lot of new colt 1911 that won’t function half of the time and have to be messed with to feed hollow point reliably. You think after the 2011 bankruptcy scare colt would try and pull there head out of their “bottom ends” and try and figure out what in the world there doing but I guess not. This 1K pricing has somewhat startled me, not because of this gun, but because I can only imagine what they will price the new pythons at....
Wait it was Colt's fault for the $1000 price tag? How so? lol The MSRP was always much lower then that. What is your opinion NOW that the prices have dropped?
I just picked up a night cobra for 799. 150 more than the standard cobra and I think it’s a great gun. Been carrying it more than my smiths. If smith made a snub nosed k frame I wouldn’t have bought the cobra.
Your correct about the Night Cobra against the regular Cobra, I don't like the Stainless finish and prefer blued guns which is the only reason I would buy a Night Cobra.
A tritium front sight is at least $50-60 and vz grips easily cost $60 more than tjan the rubber hogues. Anybody that knows anything about carrying a small revolver in your pocket knows that you don’t want the exposed hammer. It’s going to snag when you draw. Just because it’s overpriced at that shoo doesn’t mean it’s overpriced
I only paid 566 for mine don't know your gun shop but sounds like they marked it up a little much of course this was way before covid having many more years on you this little revolver is a smoke wagon love it carry it every day
I just ordered one for my wife. I need to do the ffl transfer so altogether it should be like 650 but it was listed at 599. I've been looking at some reviews and it looks like she may need different grips but otherwise it looked like the perfect purse/nightstand gun. Plus the 6 rounds as opposed to 5 on most other small revolvers and the fact that when I've priced small revolvers they run like 700+ at the store made the deal too good to pass up.
This isn't on Colt. This was an example of typical local gun store bs. They added 100 over MSRP. I remember when they came out Colts MSRP was 899 and they were in stores for 750ish.
Blah Blah interesting thought. I think a lot of companies are staying away from the 6 Shot 38 specials just because they’ve been over done and 38 is starting to somewhat phase out among self defense shooters. I know around here a 38 is popular but you can’t give them away if you don’t want it lol. I hope this helps, but who knows, you could very well see this happen!
More like a 6-rnd sp101. Idk why they seem to make all the small ones in 5 shot configurations. To save carry weight? Imo you're already limiting yourself, capacity-wise, with a revolver so why lose one more round? In capacities less than 8-10 one or two rounds could be a lot. Although if you go by statistics (and as paul Harrell would say accurate gun-fight statistics are hard to come by) you're unlikely to really need more than 2-3 rounds in a citizen, self-defense shooting situation. You're unlikely to have to reload even. But, that's got a caveat as I stated, and this is just my opinion. As far as 38spl fading away, I doubt it, why would it? You get a good 38spl +P load and it's basically the same as carrying a 9mm. 9mm is a little cheaper maybe. A compact 9mm has a 3" barrel, but an inch is the chamber, the night cobra has a 2" barrel but that 2"s is all barrel. 9mm and 38 are the same diameter. They use similar grain weights. You can go heavy with each 147gr (and even heavier) in 9mm and 158gr in 38 or light 115gr, 110gr, 124gr, 125gr to name a few. 9mm has so many weight variations; the 38 a bit less. So then you get a nice warm 38spl load and it's very similar mv and me to 9mm. Assuming that load has a good bullet no one's going to run off laughing that you shot them with a 38spl and leave you standing there, embarrassed, and wishing you used 9mm. My personal load preferences are for the 38spl +P 110gr or 125gr fiocchi xtp or get some rem htp. These are, again, just my opinions.
Seen it advertised for $499.99 now. I heard COLT discontinued it. Really thinking about picking one up to hide in the safe. Might be worth something in 20 years.
COLTERGEIST interesting thought. I’ve heard the same thing from many other people wanting to do the same thing, who knows. It might but I don’t think it will ever come to the point of the python prices. I could see it maybe hitting 1K maybe.
COLTERGEIST yea it should, but a lot of people are hording up these guns thinking they are gonna skyrocket like the pythons did. I think most of these new collectors guns will be like the Bennie baby craze myself.
David Stynchcombe I would recommend it as long as you value the bobbed hammer for concealed carry. The gun is excellent and I’ve put around 200 rounds through it so far. The night sight puts the fiber optic sight to shame and the black finish looks great. I miss the option of being able to fire in single action but all in all it’s a quality piece. The g10 grips are really nice too.
As I understand it, back in the days when the Anaconda and Pythons were made, they had a full bullpen of ninja engineers and hard-hittin, hand fittin smiths working to design and build those awesome pieces. After a few decades of cost-cutting and polymer wonders infusing the market, Colt simply doesn't have the talent to offer the same level of work on any meaningful scale..
@@GoldenWebb Nope, the MSRP on the Night Cobra is $899. The gun shop must have put a premium on it because it was new, and thought they could price gouge for awhile.
KY Gun Co has them advertised on their website for $815.99 cash/text a check. And they're prob around cheaper too if you shop around online. That gun shop is gouging for sure. That would tell me all I need to know about those turkeys. It would be be my last trip in there. This youngster needs to learn to shop around some. These guys will take advantage of him and tell him how good of a deal they're giving him all the while they're sticking it to him good. And will laugh like hell after he leaves. We've got the power of the internet to shop around today you don't have to rely just on your local gun shop especially when they're obviously out to screw people.
Masterpiece? Based on what, previous reputation? Because both versions of new Cobra at my local store look like they were made by Taurus or Charter Arms. Rough finish and tool marks all over the gun.
Lol a masterpiece. It’s a piece of something for sure. Mim cast garbage charter arms priced like a smith & wesson. The night cobra just chopped the hammer and made it black.
I got mine the other day at my gun store for 6 bills plus the juice very reasonable being that a Jframe is 499 this sweet revolver is way better than any Jframe
The Cobra with a 3" and/or 4" barrel would have been good, the Night Cobra is worthless to me personally. They need to release a new Python next in 2", 3", 4" and 6" and I'll buy one of each. Then the following year the new Anaconda in the same lengths. So come on Colt, get this moving.......
Pimply Stikage it’s worthless to me also. I’d liked the cobra in a 4 I guess. But I’m more of a .357 mag man myself. If colt comes out with the python in the near future I will be getting every model they make. I’d love to have a 3 inch and 6 inch stainless python.
Did u just review a gun u don't own and havnt shot? I agree the price is steep for what u get, but U have no reason to have anyone listen to your rant.
Scott McNamara I’ve got a few Subscribers that enjoy my opinion on new guns, even if I haven’t bought them or not. But, I do fiddle with them first before I make an opinion about them. And what time I spent with the night cobra, I wasn’t impressed at all.
@@GoldenWebb yeah.... The steep price of the night version is due to the expensive and durable finish. The revolver they showed at shot show literally had 6000 rounds through it, amd still looked brand new. That's the appeal of this version and the point of it. Maybe u outta know the features here before u review
Scott McNamara I did know the features. The finish is nice, and the front sight is nice, but is it nice enough for someone to pick this version over the normal cobra? In my opinion, not really.
@@GoldenWebb I would agree with that statement. Personally, if I don't care if it gets scuffed up, id just spend 400 bucks on a Smith j frame and pocket it. The colt name is the money. But I have to admit, the finish is impressive. Dan wessons coating used on the valor 1911s, is similar and costs 300 bucks. It's well worth it. Just wanted to point out thays about the same as the night colt
Scott McNamara that’s bs because the multiple cobra’s they had at the great american outdoor show the majority were broken just from dry firing. The colt employees had parts with them and were changing parts out as they broke mostly hammer springs. Cheap mim garbage they hope colt fan boys buy up and stick in the safe and don’t fire to find out how bad they are.
I want an Aluminum Cobra, something you can actually pocket or ankle carry comfortably just like the old cobras. If they still insisted on making an all steel gun I don't understand why they wouldn't make it 357.
Hengsha I hope the best for you man but don’t hold your breath. I think you might be better off buying a smith. It will he years if ever before colt makes one. Probably never
I do not like new revolvers for the most part. I have 2 newer Taurus 357 snubs and I have 6 old Smiths and 1 old Colt. I LOVE the classic look. I don't like the new Cobras, the Night Cobra looked a little better but not a fan really. I just, saw one, don't know if it is also called a Night Cobra or something else, but it's got the matte black finish, it does have a hammer spur and is SA & DA. It had a set of panel grips like the original Cobras once had. Now these were like a shitty plastic made to look like wood grips, but to see them with the panel grips it looked much better than any other new Cobras I've seen. If it had an old set of original Colt D frame panel grips it wouldn't be half bad. Still not gonna buy it, but I liked that it had the panel grips. I just got a 1st issue Colt Agent for 638 bucks including tax. It looks brand new, it's blued, it's a snub, had short panel grips and I put on full length panel grips and it's a beauty! Had the box and papers and everything. Very very nice gun. I don't have a video yet, but I love this gun. Very different than the Smiths I have and have had. Very different. I mean I know they tried to be opposite of Smith on just about everything but it feels different than pulling the trigger on a Smith. Still, ridiculously awesome gun! I'll have a video soon.
I disagree with the kid that doesn’t own the gun he chose to slander. Though your opinion as valued by your followers? I strongly disagree! you went to a shop that was over priced. I found the same night cobra on line for 560.00. Just sayin...
I love Colt for it's history. I have some AR platforms and 1911s from Colt. I was excited about the Cobra Line when it was announced. I like both versions but there is something about the grip angle I don't like, not comfortable for some reason. Yes, I think the Night Cobra is over priced!
Don Blake I love colt. It’s history is almost unheard of. It’s just that this night cobra is using more of Colts history to their advantage instead of just making a gun that we all want (Python, Anaconda, King Cobra)
I cannot prove this either way, but my guess is the Night Cobra sales must of really tanked because Colt just came out with a bright stainless high polish version of the new Cobra, the Bright Cobra at the end of July 2018.
Thorngod - Wow, you are right. The Cobra TT. Colt really needs to move on past the Cobra, they have milked that cow to death. 4 different color patterns of the same gun?!? Good grief.
Stew Pidasso I’ve got 2 degrees in Law Enforcement, I’m a LEO here in Ky, I’ve done a lot of gunsmithing, and I’ve been raised around guns all my life. Thank you for viewing!
Knut Blix yea I actually seen that 2 or 3 days ago. A professional polish job is about 150-200$. I could buy the regular cobra for 600 and get a professional to do it, have about 800$ in it, and save a lot more money for sure.
1,300 bucks for a high polish snubby revolver is getting ridiculous. You can do the same high polish job at home with 2,000 and 3,000 grit finishing grade sandpaper and then a Dremel polishing wheel with a bottle of Blue Magic polish in a couple of hours for less than 50 bucks. Can you imagine what the new Python and new Anaconda is going to cost?!?!?
The price of a Single Action Army is 1800, so you know the new Python will be 1,800 to 2,000 bucks....and then probably only a custom shop order with a limited number.
The grip are G10 and the coating is Dimond over stainless, as for the price it’s $879.99. That’s the only criticisms I have on your review. Even at Colts price it’s way to much for what you get. I’m into concealed carry guns because that’s what I do. You’re right they have the Cobra with the hammer for cheaper, that fine with me.
I very much agree with the Night Cobra's price being too high. I do like the Night Cobra's added/different features of the black color; bobbed hammer; night sight; with the grips being ok, but supplying an additional rubber grip would be ideal for me. The online prices in the $850 range still ends up being ~$1000 out the door in Nevada. My main concern is no good reports of higher round counts (~1000+). I don't know what might break and how Colt will handle it. My recent (~2 years ago) with a Colt Commander was its frame cracking and Colt taking ~2.5 months to replace it. This experience may or may not be relevant. For now, I won't be adding a Colt Cobra and I'll stay with my S&W J-frames.
LL1684L2 like you said, there all interesting additions but I could do without them myself, especially for the price. I doubt we will be seeing a 1,000 round count video anytime soon from anyone. Not only because it’s very expensive to do so, but it’s also unlikely since not many people even has a review of one. This was the first one I had ever seen in real life. Colts reviews have been all over the board for how well the customer service is. I’ve never had to deal with them so I don’t have dog in the race, but, like you said, I’ve seen many reviews to where Colts customer service takes months if not close to a year, depending on how severe the gun is broke, or up to 2 weeks (I think it was about them having to replace a safety that broke or something) That’s smart not wanting to invest in a product before more reviews are published, but like I said in a lot of my comments back to people, I can’t see this revolver being around for long. 2-3 years production tops in my opinion
We was..... is not proper English and the finish is not cerakote___ please do a better job with your presentation next time. The phrase "we was" is only acceptable in comedy
Buy a cobra colt in its current form might not survive as a manufacture in the next 5 years especially if you get a dem president it could be 2000 I won auction on gb 635 no credit card fee 15 ship no tax and 25 Transfer at dealer that’s 675 all in
Isr Strategies that’s about what their going for around here. Idk if they will shoot up that much, just depends on how everything will go with these new lines of pythons
I very much agree with you. The Night Cobra has features I really don't care for, just like you said, and it is way overpriced. I own recently-made specimens of both the new Colt Cobra and the new Colt Cobra Classic and I love them both. But I wouldn't give a hoot for the Colt Night Cobra, especially at a $1,000 price tag. You made some very good and well thought-out points in this video. Thanks for sharing it with us. You've probably saved some folks from making a costly mistake, who might have purchased it only to regret it later.
Colt firearms rule but they’ve definitely taken the Nintendo strategy on sales , just the name adds a lot of money , plus limited releases and production , automatically collectible whether it’s cool or not. 🇺🇸
KAISER OUTDOORS they sure have took the Nintendo strategy on sales. That’s true, colt probably carries a heavier name then any other gun company. The limited releases and production helps also. Like I said, I just now seen my first one and it’s August 26th 2018. Almost 9 months since the actual release. I would say this gun will be somewhat collectible but I couldn’t see it ever bringing the value of a python unless they halt production on it after this year, if they do that, it will be worth some major bucks.
Why would they make an external hammer that you can't cock? If Colt was going to make a double action only revolver, they should have designed it with an internal hammer. This just makes it feel like Colt was too cheap to redesign it to be an internal hammer. Just one more reason this thing is way overpriced.
Dennis I agree with you 100%. I don’t like double action only revolvers a bit. I think this gun would have been nicer if it would have had a hammer you could actually cock also.
Do some research before making yourself look ignorant. Your gunshop marked up the gun well over msrp and the coating is not cerokote. It is priced high regardless, but I doubt any Colt is a waste of money. Everyone I own is worth more than than the original msrp.
Colt Night Cobras are $599 in my neck of the woods all day long.
Paid $700 for my Night Cobra and absolutely love it. The grip is perfect for me and the action is incredibly smooth. No stacking on the trigger either. I love everything about this gun and consider it a good investment. Need to shoot one before commenting on it.
James Cowen I have Shot one. 700$ is a better price then 900$ though. I could see paying 700$.
The suggested retail price is $899. You can buy one for $100 less. You just need to shop around. The Night Cobra has the smoothest trigger and the best ergonomics for a concealed carry handgun. I own S&W, Ruger and Taurus revolvers.
Bill Armstrong there not bad, don’t get me wrong, was just not worth the price
Well she's coming down now. High 500's. But the night cobra is not cerakoted. It's DLC and way more durable.
Phoenixman that’s true, since the making of this video they have fell drastically. And you are also correct, the DLC finish is way more durable
Grabagun sells this model online for just $549, which is probably going to make it the only Colt I'll ever be able to afford in my lifetime.
I shot one this weekend. This gun is great. Light - but not to light, 6 shots with more reinforcement between the “charge holes” than a Kimber and accurate. What’s not to like?
357Shakey true that
I believe the Night Cobra has a DLC coating, not Ceracoat. It also has a tritium night sight. Your right though, they're a little over priced. List is $899.
That is probably right! Thank you for viewing my friend
Just nuts.
Derek Horn I couldn’t agree more! Colt is loosing there minds
I just bought a night cobra for $849 from my local gun shop. I don’t know who you’re buying from but I suggest look elsewhere
Colt night cobra $699 on buds as of 12/30/18 standard stainless $557
tommy6gun2 sorry, this videos getting alittle older. But yea the price has dropped horribly since I made this one.
Night cobra 557 on buds now
$899 is the price point on the Colt site.....if truly was a concealed carry revolver this is a great option. Price is not the only factor and that's all you focused on. Thanks for your advice though
These are actually $575, very nice, and also carry very nicely. I'll buy one to match my stainless Cobra.
I agree with the price I picked up a Colt cobra for $530!
Gregory Mccarley good pick up!
I just looked at the Night Cobra on Colt's website and it has that bobbed hammer, which makes it really appealing to me. Im thinking about getting one.
Let me know what you think about it!

A fightin' revolver should be DAO, have a durable finish (like DLC), and night sights; the Night Cobra ticks all these boxes; Smith & Wesson couldn't produce a similar (but inferior, IMHO) Night Guard series for less than $1200; why the hate for Colt?
id like to see a steel 357mag in a D frame. Aluminum is to light for 357. D frame fits great in a pocket holster or jacket pocket.
OK, , we get it, you think it's too expensive. Just Shop around, your shop is not giving you any deals. And, talk less.
River City Rhythm RVA I’ll keep that in mind! Thanks for viewing’
Don't listen to this tool, the video itself is you stating your opinion. They dont like it they don't have too watch
A local shop has no duty to give you a “deal” they are made to make money not be your charity center
River City Rhythm RVA Maybe you should COMMENT LESS !!! MORON.
for $1k you can get a new old stock Detective special. I got mine with a colt hammer shroud for $850 out the door. last year.
hung up right now between the Colt Night Cobra vs M&P 340...if anyone has any input it would be appreciated, keep in mind money is not an issue.
I agree with you - It's overpriced.
I really wanted the Colt Night Cobra but like you said the price got to me when I say it in a gun store.
Keanon Gilliam they have fell bad since the making of this video
Wait it was Colt's fault for the $1000 price tag? How so? lol The MSRP was always much lower then that. What is your opinion NOW that the prices have dropped?
Bradimus1981 thanks for viewing
At $1,000 they were overpriced, but pricing has mellowed out a lot now. In the $650-$700 range they’re about right.
Zack Taylor 650$ isn’t bad I don’t guess. A normal cobra is 550$ now, dropped a lot since the initial price of 750$
I just picked up a night cobra for 799. 150 more than the standard cobra and I think it’s a great gun. Been carrying it more than my smiths. If smith made a snub nosed k frame I wouldn’t have bought the cobra.
I can get one for $826. I guess you would recommend it? I have the Cobra, and I love it!
my LGS is selling one for $800 ($799) do you thinks it's worth it?
b k thanks for viewinf
Your correct about the Night Cobra against the regular Cobra, I don't like the Stainless finish and prefer blued guns which is the only reason I would buy a Night Cobra.
Think it’s awesome. Price went down and I picked one up. It’s a Colt. $900 was too steep originally
I bought mine simply bc it was just SO beautiful. No regrets. Got it used for $800 back n 2019
They are actually worth a decent amount now. Thank you for viewing my friend!
A tritium front sight is at least $50-60 and vz grips easily cost $60 more than tjan the rubber hogues. Anybody that knows anything about carrying a small revolver in your pocket knows that you don’t want the exposed hammer. It’s going to snag when you draw. Just because it’s overpriced at that shoo doesn’t mean it’s overpriced
strat1080 thanks for viewinf
Try and find one now! 4 years later.
Yea no joke!
I only paid 566 for mine don't know your gun shop but sounds like they marked it up a little much of course this was way before covid having many more years on you this little revolver is a smoke wagon love it carry it every day
Thank you for viewing my friend! Welcome to the channel!
It looks like it's less than 600 now. Kinda makin' me want one haha.
/////// thanks for viewing
@@OneSquaredG I carry one daily and personally love the grips but everyone has different preferences. Cheers
@@khatibwalid90 we got it home yesterday, the standard vz grips of the night cobra seem just fine to me and man is that trigger light and smooth.
I got one for $749 off of Gunbroker and love it.
I can get one for $826. I guess you would recommend it? I have the Cobra, and I love it!
Was that the Night Cobra you purchased?
@@DavidJStynchcombe Yeah, if you can find it for a good price. $826, I'd wait and find one for a lower price on gunbroker like I did.
@@Elvis68spec Yep!
Can get it now for 560.
Great Video, I’m a new subscriber. Glad I found your channel.
Scott wilson thank you for viewing and thank you for being a subscriber my friend!
This isn't on Colt. This was an example of typical local gun store bs. They added 100 over MSRP. I remember when they came out Colts MSRP was 899 and they were in stores for 750ish.
I like the Night Cobra is beautiful, but I don't have a $1000 to throw at one. I would go with the new snub nose GP-100 Ruger 7shot.
James Bryant id rather have the Ruger to
Yea I saw one at the gun store and I was like what the fuck! That's a lot a money for that thing
Whitey Mamasan yessir it is
Ruger should make a 6 shot LCR in .38 special.
If they don't sell they'll be reduced in price till they do, or the model would have to be withdrawn from sale.
@@GoldenWebb yeah, I'm sure you're right. Only being produced for a year might help with that.
COLTERGEIST yea it should, but a lot of people are hording up these guns thinking they are gonna skyrocket like the pythons did. I think most of these new collectors guns will be like the Bennie baby craze myself.
I just bought one for $849 and it’s fantastic.
I can get one for $826. I guess you would recommend it? I have the Cobra, and I love it!
It's a dlc coating not cerakote. It is a vapor deposit finish which will far outlast cerakote. That coating you cant diy.
highflyer131 yea that’s true
The price on these is falling quickly. Bud’s has then for less than $620.
Jason McKinney that is true
now down to $550
As I understand it, back in the days when the Anaconda and Pythons were made, they had a full bullpen of ninja engineers and hard-hittin, hand fittin smiths working to design and build those awesome pieces. After a few decades of cost-cutting and polymer wonders infusing the market, Colt simply doesn't have the talent to offer the same level of work on any meaningful scale..
Dylan Thomas that seems to be the truth now a days
I like the pic of you and Hickok45! Very cool!
Don Blake I met him at our local gun show once! He’s a great guy!
You don't know much . That gun used today on GB is over 2k
I actually sold one at the hight of Covid for 1100. That’s the most I’ve ever seen one sell for.
@@GoldenWebb not sure if they are making them anymore. I didn't mean to come of disrespectful.
680.80 on Classic Firearms as of Christmas Day 2018.
Luke DAWG they’ve fell in price drastically since this video has been made
Uhhh naw that sounds like a gun shop problem, not colts.
Golden Vulcan they use colts msrp
I just paid $700 for mine and love it. It's not cerakot either. Do your research. I wouldn't buy anything from that gun shop you frequent.
I know what you mean brother
I just saw one today at a pawn shop for 800...it really is a nice gun but price is off putting
Sir0mosh0Alot yep!
I liked it but not at twice the price, i dont like a rubber grip
you need a little more time to learn about guns...the night Cobra is a masterpiece. Check out the prices for an old Cobra and you might understand.
Masterpiece? Based on what, previous reputation? Because both versions of new Cobra at my local store look like they were made by Taurus or Charter Arms. Rough finish and tool marks all over the gun.
The Driver I’ll have to agree with you on this one. Seen another in another gun store and it really surprised me. The coating was horrid!
Lol a masterpiece. It’s a piece of something for sure. Mim cast garbage charter arms priced like a smith & wesson. The night cobra just chopped the hammer and made it black.
Courtney Tokas 😂😂😂
You live in the past....pick one up and handle it...it is a step above a charter arms.....an old cobra is a cobra.....this is an imitation at best.
I got mine the other day at my gun store for 6 bills plus the juice very reasonable being that a Jframe is 499 this sweet revolver is way better than any Jframe
The Night Cobra MAY be a waste of money, but this video was DEFINITELY a waste of time! Two 👎👎 way down.
Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video, Check out some of my other videos, thanks for viewing my friend.
Pimply Stikage Anaconda would be nice also!
Pimply Stikage 6 inch anaconda would be the way to go for sure
8 inch
on grab a gun right now the Night Cobra is $613 and the original Cobra is $640.
Chewy Porter yep, there not bad at all now
Just purchased my Night Cobra for $639 on Gunbroker
rotadyma good price!
The only colt I want is the combat rail 1911 and maybe a socom ar
$899 new on the Colt site. Kimbers black (night carry) K6s is like near $1,200!?! 😳
The photo with Hickok45 looks photo shopped.
Too bad all Colt revolvers are $900+ now days.
It sure is! Thank you for viewing my friend!
Sounds like your local gun store was trying to rip you off. They can be found for a LOT less than $999
$900?! I bought one for $700!
GreenMan 0352 they’ve fell bad since this video was made
Still in the $800s in my area
I want an Aluminum Cobra, something you can actually pocket or ankle carry comfortably just like the old cobras. If they still insisted on making an all steel gun I don't understand why they wouldn't make it 357.
Hengsha I hope the best for you man but don’t hold your breath. I think you might be better off buying a smith. It will he years if ever before colt makes one. Probably never
thx for sharing buddy!
Ms. K thank you for viewing as always! :)
I really like the look.and the feel of the night cobra! But it should be the same price of the colt cobra $600. I will get one used someday!
I disagree with the kid that doesn’t own the gun he chose to slander. Though your opinion as valued by your followers? I strongly disagree! you went to a shop that was over priced. I found the same night cobra on line for 560.00. Just sayin...
Really just want this exact gun with an aluminum frame
I love Colt for it's history. I have some AR platforms and 1911s from Colt. I was excited about the Cobra Line when it was announced. I like both versions but there is something about the grip angle I don't like, not comfortable for some reason. Yes, I think the Night Cobra is over priced!
Don Blake I love colt. It’s history is almost unheard of. It’s just that this night cobra is using more of Colts history to their advantage instead of just making a gun that we all want (Python, Anaconda, King Cobra)
Yes, you're right. Can't wait for the new Python! If it is1/2 as good as the original, I'll be happy!
Colt wasn't SUPPOSED to do anything Python. I'll buy your Cobra you whinny rookie.
Dave Murphy I’m confused lol
Dave Murphy thanks for viewinf
Colt really dropped the ball on this one, instead of coming out with the night cobra they should have come out a .357 magnum revolver.
Anthony Guidas I’d love to have seen a .357 Cobra or King Cobra, but mainly The Python.
I cannot prove this either way, but my guess is the Night Cobra sales must of really tanked because Colt just came out with a bright stainless high polish version of the new Cobra, the Bright Cobra at the end of July 2018.
Yeah, and a newer one appeared just yesterday on the Colt Website...they now have a Colt Cobra two-tone.
Thorngod - Wow, you are right. The Cobra TT. Colt really needs to move on past the Cobra, they have milked that cow to death. 4 different color patterns of the same gun?!? Good grief.
I agree!
I understand magazines are scarce

Not at all. Luckily I found it. Making colt fix it.
And more recently Colt unveiled their newest Cobra, the Bright Cobra. The Bright. Is just a shiny Cobra with wood grips and priced at $1200. 🙄
Like $1800
The price of a Single Action Army is 1800, so you know the new Python will be 1,800 to 2,000 bucks....and then probably only a custom shop order with a limited number.
Yep! And that'll be my tax return money.
Thank you for the correction my friend! And you are correct, I don’t think they are worth the money either
I’m half way interested
Does a gun review. Doesn’t have the gun. Nice work 👍🏼
Newest review on my channel is of the night cobra
I’ve never had to deal with them so I don’t have dog in the race, but, like you said, I’ve seen many reviews to where Colts customer service takes months if not close to a year, depending on how severe the gun is broke, or up to 2 weeks (I think it was about them having to replace a safety that broke or something)
That’s smart not wanting to invest in a product before more reviews are published, but like I said in a lot of my comments back to people, I can’t see this revolver being around for long. 2-3 years production tops in my opinion
We was..... is not proper English and the finish is not cerakote___ please do a better job with your presentation next time. The phrase "we was" is only acceptable in comedy
Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video, thank you for viewing anyway my friend
999.00 is way overpriced!!!!!!!!!
Don Blake yes it was!
Isr Strategies I doubt they will ever get to 2K though, maybe 1K tips

A .38 ain't worth 1000 bucks no matter who makes it. I would NEVER pay over $300-$400 for a .38spl.
WizardofAhhhs 75 I agree and I don’t blame you a bit!
Bear Gunn I’m glad you liked it man! Sometimes I don’t get updates when people post on older videos so sorry for the late message back!
