      Mine were 18x8 with a 45 offset and a 235 40 tire and I didn’t have any rubbing while driving straight. Hello,
    Just wondering how those taillights are holding up? Did you have to make any form of modifications to them or were they more of a plug and play?

    • @Leakyvws
      @Leakyvws  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tail lights are holding up well. I’ve had them for about 4 years now and haven’t had any issues. These ones are direct plug and play. I wish I would have been able to purchase a real set of the valeo lights but they have been back ordered for years now. If someone would offer me enough money I would sell these ones and get the dark cherry oem lights instead

    • @candyman9816
      @candyman9816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Leakyvws yeah I’ve been hunting for some Valeo’s myself but to no avail. Saw some of these pop up on eBay and might just buy them as they are as close as possible to the euro led’s

  • @candyman9816
    @candyman9816 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First off, very clean looking car. I do have a couple questions.
    1. Where did you manage to find those led taillights?
    2. Did you do the headliner yourself? If so how difficult was it?
    3. For the interior swap, did you have to buy any new brackets, sensors, or make any other adjustments?

    • @Leakyvws
      @Leakyvws  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the compliment! I got the lights on amazon, just have to make sure they have the canbus decoder box so they don’t throw a code. I did all the upholstery myself and it wasn’t super difficult just very time consuming. Also saves a ton of money compared to having it professionally done. However it is not perfect and if you want it to be I’d recommend having someone do it for you. Also definitely only use foam backed material for the headliner and not the rest of pillars and door cards. The foam makes it hard to tuck and stretch with the smaller pieces. For the interior swap, the mk5 and mk6 seat rails are exactly the same so they bolt directly up. I however have not been able to figure out how to get the seat air bag modules to communicate to the car. I’m not sure if that’s because my car is an early vin 07 and I think the seats came out of a later year mk6. The plugs are the same but the airbag light is on the dash. There may be a way to use resistors to trick the system like with older cars but I have not researched it much

    • @candyman9816
      @candyman9816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang, well looks like I’m a little late to get those taillights. That being said if you ever consider to sell them please reach out to me 👍
      And thank you for your informative reply! I’ve always wondered if those mk6 seats were a “plug and play” sort of thing. Have you ever tinkered in vag com to see if anything could be done about that light on the dash?

    • @Leakyvws
      @Leakyvws  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@candyman9816 I’ve done some research on the forms and I haven’t been able to find anyone who has mentioned coding out the light but I’m sure there is probably a way to do it. However I don’t really want to risk messing with the system

      @@Leakyvws I think he meant to get them replaced because they look faded. They sell them on amazon. The grills are usually around 60-70 USD and the foglight ones are around 30. The lower grill is around 20-30 as well. You can still keep the look you have going but it would look a lot better with newer grill pieces so they compliment the car better.
