Been selling on ebay for the last 24 years. Ebay has not, and will not, support their sellers. Smacking sellers around? Sure, comes easy to eBay. Standing behind sellers, never happens. As Dale Carnegie has said "expect ingratitude". #1 Easy/peasy thing they could do is automate the pay process, if you bid, you agreed to pay so we take the funds out when you win. Realize a small fraction of customers are scammers, so the idea the customers are always right means scammers are always right. Really??? IMO, one the biggest problems on eBay is their top managers have ZERO experience as active sellers. So they just don't respect sellers.
I do not offer returns but I always take care of Customers regardless and I have 100% positive feedback on 1700 items sold, recently I accepted a return recently the Buyer took parts off the product and shipped it back at my expense. I could not resell the item, I asked Ebay what courses of action were available they Said none to bad eat the loss and let the buyer off the hook 😂
The uppers at eBay and almost all companies HAVE ZERO experiences like a true seller. I'm betting I could do a far better job then the suits with paper degrees.
Two weeks mid October 1/4th of my items were returned. That was brutal. My return rate is high compared to my peers but it's still low in total. Was below 2% until those two weeks hit. Only one was legit. Trying to work stuff off of promotion, promoted listings seem to attract that type of buyer who returns so really debating not promoting at all
I promote all my listings and, so far, haven't gotten a return from those listings. The only time I got returns was when I sold clothing and not one single solitary buyer apparently looked at the measurements and I put the measurements for everything. Inseam, waist, sleeves, shoulder to shoulder, hips, thigh, calf, sweep of a skirt, etc., etc., etc. I not longer sell clothes but I should because I have tons and tons of them.@@Bawkr
my big problem with Ebay is not being able to leave negative feedback for customers who don't pay. in that situation, i go on and click the positive tab and write something like "I'M POSITIVE THIS IS A DEADBEAT CUSTOMER".
Even when I sold at flea markets and yard sales, people would sniff, "The customer is always right!" Noooooooo, they are not. I have sold on EBay for 25 years and they keep jerking me around. They cancelled my Top-Rated Seller status because I had same day shipping. But I found out when they dropped me to Above Standard, that same day shipping means that if a buyer buys a book at 11:58pm, I have to mail it by 11:59...ya know, same day. Doesn't matter that the post office is closed at midnight, and I can't box up something and get it to the post office in two minutes. Now they're threatening to take my Top-Rated Seller status away AGAIN because I have a few sales where, when the box gets to the location in another state, the post office didn't scan it. Now pray tell me, how can I follow the box to another state and ask the post office to scan it? You're right. Being a Top-Rated Seller is crazy with all the rules that are impossible to comply with. Like the rule that I have to mail a book before midnight if they buy it by 11:59pm. I had a guy the other day who sent me a question about some DVDs that I had listed as good with some cover damage, not new. I usually put all 24 photos allowed. All the little dings on the cover were shown. Dude sent me a question, "Are these DVDs in pristine, new condition?" Idiot. I will add that I am a disabled senior. I live 3 blocks from the post office. If I get an order, I usually mail it within an hour or two, depending on what's going on in my life. I have amazing feedback, 100%. I bust my butt to go the extra mile. Every book gets a thank you card and a bookmark. One of the books that EBAY SAID hadn't been scanned, the Ebay agent I spoke with said the customer had put, as my feedback, "Super-fast shipping, arrived in only two days!" and I take photos of every single package with the tracking and shipping on it before it leaves me at the post office. I also send the customer an email stating their book was mailed this morning from NW Alabama and should be arriving to them by Saturday and their tracking number is..... I have PROOF of every package I mail with the photos showing the date, the tracking number, etc., But I got dinged because the post office in the state it was going to didn't scan it. On a positive note though, when a buyer sends me a low-ball offer, I have usually blocked them and declined the offer. However, here lately, I will send a nice note stating that I'm sorry, I can't sell a book that low. I could break even if they could pay $6.99, for example. And most of the time, they will pay the $6.99. Interesting. But I really, really, really want to email them and tell them "Would it really make you happy to beat a disabled senior female out of money she needs to keep her utilities on? Would it really make you feel good about yourself to send a $1 offer on a $19.99 book? Would it make you happy if someone treated your mother, sister, aunt, this way?" But....I'm polite and keep my true feelings to myself. I got a $25 offer on a $39.99 out of print book that is impossible to find this morning. I just listed it last night. I sent them back a $29.99 counter offer, so we'll see. Some people just want to see what they can get away with.
I had a buyer request a return saying that a new blanket smelled like smoke. I didn’t argue with her. I made her send it back and gave her a full refund. The blanket did not smell like smoke. I knew she was lying. I work in a smoke free environment and detest smoking. The beautiful blanket is now in my living room. I blocked the buyer. She no longer has the pleasure of shopping in my store.
I have been selling for twenty four years. I woke up two days ago and two hundred listings were gone, missing. They do not know where they are or where they went. Merry Christmas, EBay!
Welcome back’ so they found our 251 sales. They were holding them because the were waiting for a fraudulent attack because someone was trying to get into our account( 3 times in ten days according to them) So we straightened out that situation and they dumped all of the listings into the unfolds. So now I need to examine each one to make sure there are no duplicates or any issues, and low and behold, they changed my prices again. !!!!
Ebay is a nightmare. Ive lost faith, if i have a issue i know eBay wont help me. This has happened over and over. Im losing faith in selling on the platform after 14 years.
I'm glad I found this video because I thought it was just me. Today I learned eBay has a messaging limit. So I lost a customer who was genuinely asking a lot of technical questions. So now they think I'm ghosting them because I have to wait a whole day.
Feedback should be automatically positive unless someone has an issue with the item and asks for a refund. In which case, no feedback. I think that's how Poshmark works? I've had issues with sellers not shipping on time or the item not as described but if I decide to keep the item, I just don't leave feedback after letting the buyer know what they could've done better.
Why doesn't Ebay advertise? I never see any commercials/ads. They take all the fees/promoted listed monies and put nothing toward advertising to draw in new customers.
Amen! I showed the door to bad customers/guests in the corporate world as well when I worked in it for about 28 years. Often I had to protect my staff in high end resorts. Working for myself the past 25 years has been liberating - with the exception of the Ivory Tower elitist. Speak out the TRUTH!
Thank you for thank you for helping the underdog and having the attitude of "what is good for all and not for some'. Our Government could use that same advice.
i really wish ebay would listen to the sellers. i've noticed even when you chat in, and they escalate the issue "up" that its not really going to be looked at from both sides fairly. i think they need a team of folks reviewing cases, that are made up of buyers and SELLERS on the platform, not just outsourced folks that dont know the ins/outs of the site.
Feedback on many ecommerce sites shouldn't be that important because a buyer gets basically unrestricted returns. I would think that most buyers understand this. Plus it's easier for a buyer to rip off a seller. It's the sellers who need protection.
100 % Agree with everyone ! Ebay is shooting themselves in the foot ! I received my first negative after 100 % in the 9 years of selling on ebay, and it wasn't about the item. I included a gift of a music CD and they were offended by the Christian music. I contacted ebay in a message and they said Quote "THE BUYER HAS THE RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEIR FEELINGS" and would not remove the negative.
But we don't have the right to do anything. You wan't to fix things at EBAY then start with the sellers who will then service yours and our buyers. Too many IVORY TOWER MBA's making stupid decisions.
I really wish you or someone like Harry tornado would start a rival company that runs a lot like eBay but better. I’d sign up in 2 seconds and share it with everyone lol. I listed 10-15 popular items for under market value a day all week last week and averaged 1 sale a day til today where I finally got 4. That’s crazy to me.
I’ve been selling on EBay 24 years- I think feedback is important- I read feedback if I’m buying- I’ve never received a negative feedback but have received a few nuetrals -you can’t please people that are going to complain anyway. 😊
Agree. I also hate the best offer option. You can have an item 60% Off and people will see the best offer option and automatically send you an offer no matter if the price was good. If an item doesn't sell, you can just gradually lower the price. Easy peezy. Amazon doesn't do offers and sell a lot more than eBay. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Ebay has always been what we call " a punisher" like the folks you describe in your furniture store. eBay never misses a beat to punish a negative action but is radio silent for any positive action. That parenting has typically bred narcissistic sociopaths in the parents image
Man, I have a negative feedback sitting on my account right now full of profanity, left by a buyer who a week prior sent several messages to my account containing photos of my home along with several explicit threats of physical violence, stating they would come to my residence and commit these acts, yada yada yada. I requested removal and was denied, the reason being it did not qualify. This buyer is the most flagrant violation of ebay policy, (and the law,) I have ever seen on this platform. I don't know why they are still on the platform, let alone able to leave feedback. Things lately have been very weird. Getting in touch with CS is way more difficult now, and I did several times to no effect.
I agree with you Mike, resalling is hardwork and I love it. I only get stressed out about the reviews that I am going to get from my buyers. that is bad. Thanks for sharing.
I agree with you Mike, Ebay should get rid of the feedback all together. If a seller OR buyer is scamming then they should be removed from the platform. Buyers leaving negative feedback over the stupidest things is rediculous. As for putting your negative feedback up top is crazy. it should be the most recent or at least not a negative when you have 4000 positive! Some one else mentioned that the suits in the tower have never sold on Ebay and I think they are right. They have no clue how it works. It's sad, as I think it's the start of the end of Ebay. Losing sellers, losing buyers is not good.
Slow drip to the bottom. They can't admit that they are the problem not SELLERS. 4000 feedback and they chose that one? They don't care as long as they get their paychecks.
If he would just take 10 to 15 minutes out of his day ebay would gladly remove that negative if it's all real bullcrap. Makes no sense he would just allow it to stay there
Interesting that on the ebay app the negative comes up as the second feedback left but when I checked on my computer, I can't find his feedback after looking through 6 pages. Kat, Nurse Flipper just had a feedback rant. She sold something that was listed for awhile. Buyer purchased woman's scrubs. Turns out they were child size. She caught it before shipping, apologized and refunded her money. The woman left negative feedback as if she received the wrong item saying it was too small. Kat said she would have been protected from a negative had she sent the item and the woman opened up a return. But because she thought she was doing the right thing, she's screwed as ebay said the buyer has a right to her opinion. Cost. $6.48. The woman left 20 negatives on her first page of feedback. Kat said I could get the buyers name from her page. I only see a partial. Is there a way to find who these people are as I want to block her buyer and your buyer. Some people just suck, sadly.
Only on the phone is the negative. It's a total joke. What group of people sit around and say lets screw the seller with this feature. They chose the 1% to show first. The 99% positive is NOTHING TO THEM. That's why I say get rid of all the feedback. No one leaves any feedback.
Great video Mike. I totally agree. It is so demoralizing when eBay lets absolutely stupid feedback stay. Today my perfect 100% positive feedback got ruined because a buyer thought the new in package slippers they got were “too slippery” ?! They never contacted me never asked to return them. I contacted ebay twice but, after thanking me for being an eBay seller for over 22 YEARS, they said they won’t take it down. 😡 I planned on listing a bunch of items today but my heart really is not in it after that. 😢
Long story short, I got totally ripped off by a buyer, complained to Ebay about the situation over and over and they took the thief's side. Nobody at Ebay listened to ME, the SELLER. I never got my item back. No return tracking was provided to me or Ebay, yet Ebay said there was. They have their monumental Bullshit moments.
Yeap, that's my point overall. I just couldn't take the stupidity of them pinning that negative with me being a TOP RATED SELLER etc. Just lite a fire.
I've watched a ton of your videos Mike. This is by far the best one you have done. I have been selling on eBay for a few years to get comfortable using the extra income for my retirement in a couple of years. Have had 100% positive feedback. Then I get one guy who left neg feedback, with tracking. Said he received the item but it was stolen from his mailbox. Contacted eBay and they said, please respect the customer's opinion. ??? Then I get another negative feedback from a guy who bought a brand new, in the box, tested grinder and said it didn't work "had to take it to my electrician who said it was a bad switch, I want $15 off" I said send it back and I'll pay the return shipping" he wouldn't do it. When I looked at the Feedback he left for Others, he is doing this scam to EVERYONE. eBay could easily remove these scammers.
Yeap, sorry that this has happened to you. It is super frustrating to go along doing the best you can and then these things hit and they just shut you down with RESPECT THE CUSTOMER'S OPINION.
My "funniest" feedback received from a buyer, I shipped the item no problem, arrived just fine, guy then misplaces it somewhere on his own. I get neutral feedback because although I did my part shipping a good item, he was no longer able to use it after losing it (at least he admitted he lost it himself in the feedback). But it really irritates me that as a seller the only option is to send positive feedback to a buyer, and people absolutely take advantage of it.
Wish my Mrs worked for u Mike. My Mrs a manager in a furniture store. The trouble she has with Indians mainly. She sticks up for the employees under her. Doesn't let the customers get away with anything but there's always somebody high they can complain too. Cheers Graham
The retail space has completely changed. When I first started my store it was a blast. As time went on and the AMAZON's, Walmarts and Costco's took back anything and everything that created problems for the smaller retailers. Can't tell you how many times people invoked that type mantra. I walked away from a Costco deal I will talk about that in a coming video.
Sometimes it feels like eBay doesn't want to deal with the hard things, shrinking buyer base, shrinking seller base, search issues, other tech issues. They would rather go gun ho on easy stuff like promotion revenue, redesigns of interface, playing with new features. What I fear is what they will do when promotions start bring in new revenue. They will flail around and I'm worried what they will do when in that state.
the comic book guy actually had the audacity to label his BUYER as 'very unreasonable and potentially malicious" that guy definitely has some issues and should be booted from ebay!!
It's a much better shopping experience on Walmart and Amazon! Ebay has ruined their site with filling every inch of space with other stores listings, and they aren't marketing themselves!
I bought a book from you. It came quickly and in great condition. I left you positive feedback. It is stupid of ebay to put negative feedback in the limelight because a lot of people won't buy from someone with negative feedback front and center. And here i see Etsy's upbeat commercials often. Where's ebays?
Hi Mike, love watching your videos from here in Australia. Totally agree with you on the stupidity of ebay! I did wonder though, as you say you don't promote listing's and you don't offer free postage. Are ebay punishing you for not ticking all their boxes!? Just a thought. Keep up with all the great content.
My sales are off the chart right now. I thought I would be just slowly bumping along last two weeks have been nuts. I don't think they punish me or others. I just find some pretty cool stuff. Thanks for watching in Australia.
Hey Mike, great video!! As far as promoting listings go, I promote 8-10 % on about 65% of my store and it works great for me, I do not use dynamic, too scary. I did do a test in the month of Sept of slowly turning off promotions and end items / sell similar etc. long story short, sales went down by almost 35% in about 6 weeks. I went back to promoting like my old methods and now I am back up 40% in sales. I typically list/sell 5 items a day. Thought I would share this, obviously wanted collectible items do not need promoted unless there is a lot of competition. Chris
I think it can work for some. But in general most don't need to do them. I haven't and my sales are always strong. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.
I always have the worst problems with what I call a 99cent item. Just meaning I can sell a $200 item and no issues but these smaller items it's a huge headache.
Funny how eBay thinks it is a good thing to show everybody's negative feedback at the top. That is going to give a bad impression to buyers if they are searching for a certain item and the only person you can get that from is a big seller. Big sellers will have negative feedback and if that is what the buyer sees on all of those listings, they are going to think that eBay is not a place to shop.
Exactly. Top Rated Seller, Sold over $750,000 on EBAY and this is what they do. JUST AMAZING. Who makes these decisions? They certainly aren't asking TOP RATED.
I definitely didn't agree when ebay got rid of the option of leaving negative feedback to buyers. I really doubt that ebay will ever look after the sellers. I'll keep on using it until a better platform arrives.
Only been selling on ebay for a year and a half. I now just accept that they will take 18%. I am a five star seller, 300 reviews without a single complaint but ebay thinks they deserve an additional 5% of my sales because I got a few returns from happy customers and therefore I am a bad seller.
Did you see eBay's latest seller update? They're promoting not using recycled packaging. I guess they don't want eBay customers receiving Amazon and Walmart boxes.
I wonder if eBay policy makers worked for the federal government before the worked at eBay. It seems as though they got their training while working for the feds. That would explain their (blanking) up policies.
eBay is draining both SELLERS and BUYERS. If the negative feedback was he case AMAZON would be gone. You kill your company with one side being treated better than the other. Sellers aren't not coming to EBAY they are leaving. LESS items to sell, less money and it's a slow grind downward.
We wish that eBay would get out of the returns game and respect a sellers return policy. Why have sellers pick a return policy if eBay is going to give buyers the nuclear option INAD. They should just have their own trial period for buyers to examine the item when they get it and decide if they want to keep it or not.
I see no point in selling on eBay with their horrible return policy. Last two listings had scam buyer returns, even though I have returns turned off and clearly state in the auctions no returns accepted. Might as well just become a scam buyer I guess 🤦♂
It can be tough to sell on the platform sometimes. As far as the returns go they are only there for the buyers who say I changed my mind. It's all about doing volume etc.
@@goldenstatepicker I have a shocking update. After many support chats/phone calls with eBay, providing photos and video proof (I had a video on my ebay listing showing the item functioning), the buyer shipped back the item and it was of course broken. The guy even said he has several of the same electronic item, which made me suspect that he swapped out a good part from mine to repair one of his. After it arrived my next choice was to refund the buyer. Instead, I called eBay, explained that the item wasn't in the condition that I sent it. I had to fill out a "signed declaration for a damaged return" and looks like eBay is going to pay for refunding the buyer as a "courtesy" and mentioned my funds would be available in 48 hours. Lesson learned on this - do not sell heavy items on eBay or expensive items. Any type of electronics item seems to be a magnet for scammers. I may have to make a video about this
Totally support you Golden State Picker! Ebay is smart enough to figure out an Algorithm (he he) that will automatically sense Unfair Feedbacks. What is eBay trying to accomplish?, by allowing their Greatest Sellers to be abused by Prank Feedbacks?
😂😂 your great! He must be jealous of your channel!! I love seeing your videos ! I can’t wait for your next video. Thanks for what you do. 😊 Karma got him.
Feedback is such a joke. Sellers have no option but to kiss the butts of buyers, no ability to warn other sellers of scams, and no way to edit or remove positive feedback after the buyer tries to do something shady. I used to rate buyers right after payment, but now don't give any until the buyer gives me positive feedback. I don't know how Ebay thinks they benefit from being on the side of buyers in that aspect of the business and agree, they should just get rid of the whole system rather than keep it like this.
Mike This buyer crossed the line. This is defamation of your reputation. If you can disprove anything that he said, you have a case for feedback removal. I just had one removed two days ago. It was removed in a few hours. The buyer had violated ebay policy. Basically, he accepted an offer and immediately requested to cancel the transaction. Reason was "purchased by mistake". 45 days later he left me a negative feedback with the reason "cost too much". The other part of the reason was, he violated ebay policy by the lie. Purchased by mistake vs. cost too much. The complete reason was, he also never received the item. There is a form you can fill out requesting the removal. Its easy. The part where he lied about the packaging could do the trick. If you have dimensions or weight of the package you shipped, that could seal the removal. Also, language alone is grounds for removal. Foul or threatening is definitely cause for removal. I felt threatened by your buyers comments.
Hey Mike I was just thinking when u mentioned ur furniture store again, I have family there in San Jose that's in furniture also. He has been in it for a long time too. Do u know a Richard Erickson? He owns Desk Depot
mike. remind me not to make you angry.... everything you are saying is spot on. I've not spoke about feedback because it hasn't specifically hit me but it's coming for sure. I talk about a lot of hard issues on my channel, mostly revolving around the cash grab they call promoted listings and it's nice to see others talking about things that matter. what solds are great, but content like this is imperative for influencers like yourself. thank you.
Thanks so much for watching and getting it. It is a total CASH grab. Give us money we will push it up. Most people still look for the lowest price in general
Hello Mike I have a question. I sold a CB radio which the buyer says it doesn’t work. I put in the listing not tested and sold as is. He says since it was under used vs. not working he is entitled to a refund. Where do I stand Thanks in advance.
If he hits that button that says defective you will have to take it back. IT SUCKS. Even if you put it for "parts not working" They could still do it to you. IT'S NUTS the whole ebay NO RETURNS etc. They can mention item doesn't match description. They have many outs as we say. Did he ask for the return yet?
I remember in the early 2 thousands very early, there was a real sense of community and pride selling on ebay, you felt like you were part of a special community and you did everything you could to make it good. it's so different now it's like a Walmart, No sense of community , nothing, you're just a number.
@@goldenstatepicker After your video I went and checked my feedback because I have one negative, apparently the person who gave me a negative about 6 months ago deleted their account because I have no negatives now, which is freaking awesome! This guy that gave me a negative was a complete jerk
I give them 2.5% more than I want to but it’s better than the 15% I saw the other day on one of my listings that they recommended. I don’t care what it is I won’t ever do more than 5% lol.
eBay is not a employer. It's a landlord. As long as I pay my fees and keep my store clean and legal it should have no say on my policies. If I say no returns it should mean no returns. I risk the sale not eBay. I refuse to allow someone to return a vintage item that can be swapped or worn just for eBay to demand I give them a refund and have to spend time to fight a return. I put the investment and time in not eBay. I can understand if I don't have good photos and good accurate description but if buyer is to lazy to look and read that's on them. I was excited to get back to eBay after so many years but after seeing what they have done to their platform I'm really rethinking it. I'm truly on the fence. This is not free enterprise when a platform can dictate what you sell, how much you sell it for and free returns for any reason. It's my business not theirs
@@goldenstatepicker very sad. I have a lot of high dollar items that eBay will loose our. I'll likely try Etsy again and Mecari until something better comes around. I've been into reselling for many years collecting since the 70s. Now I'm coming to the time to simplify my life. I've been in a brick and mortar for past 7 years as a vendor but it's a small audience. E at is digging a deep hole and taking it's sellers down with them. Greed will get ya eventually
Sorry Mike here at ebay we handle everything on a case by case basis. (In foreign country voice)We cannot factor in your million positive reviews. They have taken the customer is right philosophy way to seriously, let em have it Mike.
How about this one. Phone ringing.......Hello how may I help you. Thanks Mike I see you have been a loyal Ebay seller for 20 years and we appreciate you, but case DENIED!
I noticed that I got promoted listings on items I never would have promoted. I had a rule to never do prompted with anything under $12. Anyone else see that happening?
From Michigan and Love CA - Glendale and Burbank and Laurel Canyon. Ebay is not the problem - it is a person. We need to find out who is running this show. This is way past frustration it could ruin lives. Who is the person doing this?
Sounds a lot like Etsy. Ever since the IPO I knew it start to suck- which it has- and they give preference to buyers & not the handmade sellers who allowed them to have an IPO in the first place. They’re all idiots at the top. Can’t relate to the people under them 👎🏻
Today I had to fix my garbage disposal so I bought one and brought it home. Dismantled the other one and was able to fix it. Brought back the other one and felt stupid. Especially since they had to open the box to make sure I didn't switch stuff out. I said I was sorry, they had to open the box.
I deleted my first comment because I didn’t really come out as what I wanted to really say all I want to say is that you’re amazing. I think you are correct and I hope eBay start stepping up and backing the sellers more.
You could just request a feedback revision from your PCs feedback line. If the correspondence doesn't match the feedback eBay will take it down. It only takes a few minutes. Why leave it up there and complain about it. They possibly left it for the wrong seller.
They didn't leave it for the wrong seller. That feature is ONLY for the buyer to revise it and no way will most of them do that. My sales prove that FEEDBACK is a joke. I do just fine. My point was 6 month old feedback being left at the top when I have nearly 4,000 total feedback. THEY DON'T CARE. I just grind away and sell.
Why leave it up there? Like I have a choice? I don't EBAY does. I have called a few occasions and the standard line is THE HAVE AN OPINION and blah blah. So, why even try when it really doesn't matter. Again, my point was about the new FEATURE they are implementing.
Thank for being a rational voice amongst all of the cowardly sycophants here on TH-cam. So many are saying you gotta play the game. Just to rationalize their own stupidity. I followed their advice last year and in July I quit because though my sales were up 15.7% YOY my net was only up 5%. After I quit my sales were bad for one month only. Now, since Sept, my sales are up 10% YOY and my Net is also up 10% YOY for that time. It is too hard to know what to promote and what will sell without it so you end up taxing everything which destroys your net. Some people have been promoting so long that they have forgotten what normal is and are afraid to risk it to go back.
I do believe the new set up for reviews is now like Amazon's. That neg review will be the 1st review that people will see for a long time. I would at least try to get it removed based on the fact that he is y 21:01 our competition.
I haven't seen that on Amazon. I have a 100% positive feedback. Amazon allows us to knock out FEEDBACK that is fraudulent etc. I can get it knocked out with one click of the mouse. You mess it up then AMAZON will take over. Amazon realizes there are issue that aren't our fault etc. and puts it on our hands, on a trust system. Amazon doesn't want millions of calls to remove stupid feedback issues.
Thanxs Mike ! Hope u well yes things slowing down with the economy I think , yes too many glitches for sure! Feedback ahh yes laughable ! 24 not 2400 ahhhhh report buyer lol move on fast grrr . Where is your response ?I don’t respond only have one negative from another seller lol didn’t like me in their category. Ps they have five ids I worked out scary lol moving on love to see what u have found. I found some clubs this week ! Thanxs good video ! No feedback sounds great !
A saying that I remember is " Don't bite the hand that feeds you " Also I know ebay is the owner of ebay and they probably are pointing you towards the door !!
You can leave a reply to buyer feedback if you're using a PC...I do it all the time. I no longer leave feedback until after the customer does, that way I'm not leaving eBay's stupid mandatory positive feedback for someone who could for some hair-brained reason, leave neutral or negative feedback for me.
Mike I respect you and find your content very helpful, but I think we could’ve done without this video. I usually find you a very positive person and you always look to inspire people but this video was just the opposite. I’ll keep following you and watching your content but maybe leave these type of videos for someone else. I’m just trying to give some constructive criticism.
Sometimes you have to call out the idiot policies. It affects people. If we keep are heads in the sand and say nothing that's not good. I clarified that I was still happy with EBAY just not the stupidity of some of their policies.
@@goldenstatepicker I’m with you, I don’t agree with everything they do either. This comment was not to bash you at all, I just think that eBay is stuck in their ways and they’re not gonna change a throng even if we all made a video about it.
EBay won't change until there is a viable alternative for sellers to transition to sell their items. Right now, they are only viable game in town, and sellers are forced to make the best of it.
Been watching your videos for a while and for the most part I have enjoyed them. However, I just now took a look at your eBay feedback and your responses to your buyers was very disappointing to see. You are clearly in the wrong in nearly all of your responses, treating your buyers horribly and being unnecessarily rude to them, calling them liars, etc. Just very childish behavior on your part, especially coming from an older gentleman (the responses you gave came across like someone very young and angry, someone in their late teens or early twenties; just not very professional at all). No, the customer is not always right, but they are not always wrong either, and your feedback shows you almost consistently being belligerent and unfair to them.
You can leave too. I don't do stupid. I don't do liars etc. I haven't been wrong on ONE FEEDBACK. Been around to long to see what is wrong with our country etc. I call it like I see them. BYE!
@@goldenstatepicker You call them like you see them but unfortunately you're not seeing very clearly. That's the issue; you're not listening to your customers. For the most part those are legitimate complaints, like the bible pages sticking together from water damage, but you responded very childishly to them. I think anyone who reads your responses to your Buyers would agree you are not acting in a professional manner, very rude, just like in your response to me when I'm trying to help you see more clearly, to treat your customers better and with more respect.
@carl9425, I also read Mike's feedback for buyers, and I can't believe anyone would respond to ANYONE like that, insulting them, etc. I've never had a negative, I've had one neutral and I apologized to the neutral! Mean responses are a good way to drive people away. Also Mike, several times you've mentioned you're a Christian? Is that how Christians act towards people?
@@scottjohnson921 Wow Triggered? The problem is that in our country when we see a liar and call them a liar people get so offended. People need to be called out. If they lie, cheat or steal from me they will get treated like that/. If it offends you so much then move on. I call them like I see them period! No sugar coating. Facts scare people. My sales are through the roof! Why? Great customer service to my thousands of buyers. The guy lied. What do you want me to do just let it sit there with out a response? I even showed one of his negatives and you still don’t get it.
14:20 I don’t think the cigarette smoke is anywhere near as bad as your review. You’re the person comic just being really particular, but cigarette smoke, and being very extreme downright nauseating for some people.
What on earth are you talking about with that negative feedback!!!??? Thats not you? Thats not how you do business??? Dude it takes 10 15 minutes to have them call you and get that removed! If thats the first thing a buyer sees when checking your feedback then thats not good! If you truly did not say anything along those lines then there will be proof in your messeges and they will easily check it and remove the negative. To just leave it and say " thats not how i roll " is the absolute most ridiculous statement ive ever heard. 15 minutes and itll be gone! Hell you could even get it removed by requesting it seeing as its clear lies. Im baffled that anyone would just let that negative stay.....
It doesn't work that way! Wake up! How do I prove a lie? I know he lied he does too, but EBAY DOESN'T SO THEY SIDE WITH THE BUYER! END OF STORY! Like I said I don't give a rip. Today alone another $2000 in sales, do you think that negative stopped them. Everyone in general realizes that there are people who leaving negative embellish. Go look at AMAZON's own personal feedback! WAHAHAHAHAH! The proof is my sales, which I show all the time. GROSS, NET etc. You just don't call Ebay and magically they take down every feedback. YOUR STATEMENT is the most ridiculous.
my solution to this issue is to leave the buyer positive feedback with negative connotations. atleast when people read their positive feedback they will see that there was an issue with the buyer
Trying to work stuff off of promotion, promoted listings seem to attract that type of buyer who returns so really debating not promoting at all
Amen!! Exactly. They are all mba types who have zero clue.
I do similar. I write BEWARE BEWARE 30 times then leave my feedback.. It doesn't do any good, but it is good therapy. LOL
We need to create our own code words for crazy/weirdo/deadbeat buyers
For a bad buyer I will click on positive feedback but start comment with “SELLERS BEWARE!!” We need to stick together!
We give positive negatives also. I appreciate when I see them when I check feedback. Saves us headaches. Time is money and money is time!
Definitely room for a strong Ebay competitor but Mecari and others just aren't there yet.
I’ve been an eBay seller since 2011. This is the first time watching your videos. You are on point 100%. Hopefully the “ebay suits” see this video.
Make sure you Block that guy who left the negative feedback! You don't want him making another purchase just to cause you more trouble!
I always do. Thanks for watching. Appreciate it.
The last guy who ripped me off and left a negative feedback tried to purchase from me again! Blocked.
Thanks for the comment.
Had a new reseller tell me this week that she is going to sell on Poshmark and won’t sell on EBay because Poshmark supports sellers.
Ebay is a nightmare. Ive lost faith, if i have a issue i know eBay wont help me. This has happened over and over. Im losing faith in selling on the platform after 14 years.
That's what I was saying people are leaving for faith in EBAY period.
Ebay does not care about its sellers who are their customers
Why doesn't Ebay advertise? I never see any commercials/ads. They take all the fees/promoted listed monies and put nothing toward advertising to draw in new customers.
They don't want to spend the money. They feel their brand is established so they don't have too.
They do advertise for eBay motors
They do street level ooh ads here in Sydney, Australia. Appears to be targeted to a younger demographic
A evil eBay Seller probably set you up, in order to knock you down. Ebay is shooting itself in the foot to allow Prank Feedbacks.
Thanks for watching.
i really wish ebay would listen to the sellers. i've noticed even when you chat in, and they escalate the issue "up" that its not really going to be looked at from both sides fairly. i think they need a team of folks reviewing cases, that are made up of buyers and SELLERS on the platform, not just outsourced folks that dont know the ins/outs of the site.
Yeap, like someone in INDIA who has no skin in the game and only is shown a screen of generic BULL to say.
Feedback on many ecommerce sites shouldn't be that important because a buyer gets basically unrestricted returns. I would think that most buyers understand this. Plus it's easier for a buyer to rip off a seller. It's the sellers who need protection.
Exactly. Why would you allow only a one way FEEDBACK. Sellers hands are tied.
WOW! That's crazy. How is that possible. That's why all feedback should just go away.
That's terrifying, stay safe and strong thanks for sharing
I agree that the seller’s should be able to leave feedback like buyer’s, but feedback should be completely shut down!
@@goldenstatepicker Agree. I never leave feedback anymore.
I am starting to wonder if these incredibly "off-the-wall, stupid, prank-sounding, negative feedbacks" are from an eBay Competitor?
Great video Mike. I totally agree. It is so demoralizing when eBay lets absolutely stupid feedback stay. Today my perfect 100% positive feedback got ruined because a buyer thought the new in package slippers they got were “too slippery” ?! They never contacted me never asked to return them. I contacted ebay twice but, after thanking me for being an eBay seller for over 22 YEARS, they said they won’t take it down. 😡
I planned on listing a bunch of items today but my heart really is not in it after that. 😢
Don't you love that opening from someone in INDIA! Thanks for being a loyal EBAY SELLER! What a crock. Typical CORP speak.
Yes, they do! Just nuts what we have to go through.
They will NEVER help you. Even if it's black and white. It's honestly crazy.... 🙄
To be honest Mike, I've been buying shit off eBay for over 20 years I've never looked at anybody's feedback.
Yeap, that's my point overall. I just couldn't take the stupidity of them pinning that negative with me being a TOP RATED SELLER etc. Just lite a fire.
Wow!
Thank you.
Cant help but think "how much stronger would it be if promoting?" We all do what works for us, thanks for the response!@@goldenstatepicker
I've noticed my & other buyer responses getting muted or hidden to negative or neutral feedback. Totally uncalled for
I always have the worst problems with what I call a 99cent item. Just meaning I can sell a $200 item and no issues but these smaller items it's a huge headache.
Yes, they can be. MORE WORK sometimes.
Yeap, that one thing showed just how much EBAY cared about sellers.
Only been selling on ebay for a year and a half. I now just accept that they will take 18%. I am a five star seller, 300 reviews without a single complaint but ebay thinks they deserve an additional 5% of my sales because I got a few returns from happy customers and therefore I am a bad seller.
Sellers take a back seat. I'm glad you are doing well with it. Thanks for watching.
Did you see eBay's latest seller update? They're promoting not using recycled packaging. I guess they don't want eBay customers receiving Amazon and Walmart boxes.
Good environmentalist. I'll never stop using recycle books.
😂selling off my ebay merchandise and selling more on amazon....
I wonder if eBay policy makers worked for the federal government before the worked at eBay. It seems as though they got their training while working for the feds. That would explain their (blanking) up policies.
All the time.
EBay was losing too many customers (buyers) due to negative feedback.
eBay is draining both SELLERS and BUYERS. If the negative feedback was he case AMAZON would be gone. You kill your company with one side being treated better than the other. Sellers aren't not coming to EBAY they are leaving. LESS items to sell, less money and it's a slow grind downward.
So true! I'm looking for a more reasonable platform to sell my stuff. Ebay used to make sense, it doesn't now.
That buyer might have your order confused with another order he made with another seller
I don't think he did. It's nuts what they get away with.
We wish that eBay would get out of the returns game and respect a sellers return policy. Why have sellers pick a return policy if eBay is going to give buyers the nuclear option INAD. They should just have their own trial period for buyers to examine the item when they get it and decide if they want to keep it or not.
No returns doesn't mean squat. All they have to do is claim DEFECTIVE. Ebay is an enigma.
I support your comment! Ebay makes it too easy for bad buyers to rip-off Good Sellers.
That's it. Top Rated 4000 feedback and that is what they do to a seller? Makes no sense. Does anyone inside EBAY stand up for sellers?
😂😂 your great! He must be jealous of your channel!! I love seeing your videos ! I can’t wait for your next video. Thanks for what you do. 😊 Karma got him.
Thanks again for watching. KARMA was a nice thing on that one.
We as sellers are contract workers..we are on our on..
Thank you, it's amazing to hear your perspective. Greatly appreciated.
Thanks for watching: appreciate it
Mike
This buyer crossed the line.
I might go back and try to get it knocked out. STANDARD ENVELOPE! NO WAY. Thanks for the tip.
Hey Mike I was just thinking when u mentioned ur furniture store again, I have family there in San Jose that's in furniture also. He has been in it for a long time too. Do u know a Richard Erickson? He owns Desk Depot
No I didn't. I know many but that name I don't.
mike. remind me not to make you angry.... everything you are saying is spot on.
Most people still look for the lowest price in general
they should call them "protected listings" like the mafia.... @@goldenstatepicker
@@goldenstatepicker return not opened as of yet
I remember in the early 2 thousands very early, there was a real sense of community and pride selling on ebay, you felt like you were part of a special community and you did everything you could to make it good. it's so different now it's like a Walmart, No sense of community , nothing, you're just a number.
That's what we have all become on almost all platforms. Nothing but a number. A part of the Algorithm is all we are.
Yeap, NO RETURNS really isn't that. Many other issues just like it. They have slowly nickeled and dimed sellers into rethinking like you are doing.
I sell on ebay and NEVER leave feedback .... takes time and who cares
That's what I say. Get rid of it. Just can't stand when eBay does stupid stuff.
I have not.
From Michigan and Love CA - Glendale and Burbank and Laurel Canyon. Ebay is not the problem - it is a person. We need to find out who is running this show. This is way past frustration it could ruin lives. Who is the person doing this?
Thanks Superb video breakdown. I really appreciate this & you. I agree Mike.
Sounds a lot like Etsy. Ever since the IPO I knew it start to suck- which it has- and they give preference to buyers & not the handmade sellers who allowed them to have an IPO in the first place. They’re all idiots at the top. Can’t relate to the people under them 👎🏻
Sounds like all of them. GOODWILL TO ETSY!
I’m definitely in the minority. Never left a negative feedback or asked for a return on eBay. I’ve returned one item on Amazon and it bothered me.
I got what you meant. Thanks for watching appreciate it.
Yes, but that removal feature actually works.
I have used it a few times. All successful.
It took me a whole 5 minutes, then, POOF! it was gone.
I figure If I have the good stuff it will sell without the promoted listing fees. Thanks for watching.
💯 All truth! Thanks
By the way these suits go to big colleges but can't hang a picture on a wall. I'd say hire Sam Altman but it's to late for that.
It's so true. THEY LACK COMMON SENSE. I've seen so many that can't function outside the corporate structure.
It is stupid. However. I do have to say when buying? I don't go into the details. If the seller is above 90% positive I'm good with it
I do believe the new set up for reviews is now like Amazon's.
Great video . Thank you for your 'moxy'.
Thanks again for watching.
I agree totally!
Well said Mike!
You ain't lyin'!
A saying that I remember is " Don't bite the hand that feeds you " Also I know ebay is the owner of ebay and they probably are pointing you towards the door !!
Sellers are the hand that feed Ebay, so....
Exactly. Thanks for watching.
@@goldenstatepicker who sounds triggered? 🤷♂️
14:20 I don’t think the cigarette smoke is anywhere near as bad as your review. You’re the person comic just being really particular, but cigarette smoke, and being very extreme downright nauseating for some people.
great video
I want the book (s)
I had no idea i worked for ebay?
It's a figure of SPEACH. I'm amazed at how many people take things so literal.
♥️♥️
First!
Finally.
my solution to this issue is to leave the buyer positive feedback with negative connotations. atleast when people read their positive feedback they will see that there was an issue with the buyer
I do the same. Thanks for watching.
