I agree with you, Ebay should get rid of the feedback. Especially since now buyers can leave negative feedback for sellers. But we can't leave negative for a buyer.

The "description" part, I personally think is important. My description consists of: Brief Description, Condition, Size, Manufacturer/Markings. I do this for 2 reasons. #1, to give the buyer as much information as possible for them to make a decision. #2, it COVERS my butt. It's a bit more difficult to make "a case" against you if you've described an important part of the item...in writing. It amazes me that some sellers are selling a high dollar antique item and their description consists of 1 sentence!! To me, it shows that they don't care. IDK, just my personal opinion

I have been selling on Ebay for 25 years and I have yet to find an easier way to do this.
The A.I. description, can you imagine shopping for one single item that the entire competition has described the exact same way 😂
That's funny. But I move things around when it gives me a description. I use it sparingly.
I'm a desktop lister too. Yes, I love the video feature. It is way easier to make and post a video to a listing than it used to be.
Mike, I've found what works easiest for me is to take photos with my phone (Android), then create a draft - title only - and upload the photos. I do this for 5 or 6 items, then switch to my laptop and complete item specifics, description, shipping weight and measurements, etc. Then change my draft for each to a listing. This might sound a bit convoluted, but I ran into problems trying to upload photos to my comp; this turned out to be the easiest way.
Nice. I just love the AIRDROP feature on IPHONE. An amazing thing for me. Desktop still for me all the way.
I do it similar. I make the complete draft on my laptop and save it, then I add the photos later using just my phone, and then I publish it. Only 2 steps, and really fast.
@@scottjohnson921 When I tried doing it in that order, I somehow ended up with a duplicate draft for each item. Lol. So I had to reverse the process, and upload the photos from my phone first.
The only time is use the computer for listing is to add a video, otherwise it is all phone.

This is the way
I take pictures and videos on my iPhone and the cloud automatically downloads them to my iPad. Takes maybe a minute or so. I then use the iPad with a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for listing. It works great for me. If you have a small ebay store and want the easiest way of listing and downloading pictures, it might be something to try if you have Apple products.
Feedback invites the Crazies! They can spew whatever lie they wish, and ebay says: that's their opinion. I'm with you Mike, get rid of feedback! 😊

I like having that feedback because it's a representation of how you do business. It's also a representation of whether or not you have a good customer service.
But most of the time it's embellished lies! That's what gripes me.

Thank you!!! I will airdrop my videos to my desktop and try it that way. The other way I was able to do it with my phone was posting the video to my youtube account then using my desktop I copied the url to add it to my listing.
I learned about the video feature from your channel. Still don't hear others talk about it. But I see it as a huge way to separate my items from my competitors.

Really enjoy your videos and your regular guy way of talking. Lowe's Paint Department has some really good sturdy boxes for shipping. I pick up the smaller ones and get most all of m boxes there. I desk top list, take pictures with my phone and transfer. On certain items that are mechanical I will video. Thanks Mike!

I always do my listings on the desktop. I do take the pictures on my iPhone, copy them to my pc and list from there. I wish I could sit and do everything from my phone, but it’s not the same interface for me and I find the desktop easier for me. Thanks for your information.

When I make my videos from my iphone, I upload through internet safari, and then save, and do everything else through my pc. So I upload photos on app, then go to Safari an upload video then I save and complete my listings on pc.

I peel pieces from some of the AI descriptions. I don't always use it.

Exactly. I do it all on laptop, but then I save it as a draft and use my phone to add the photos. That really makes it fast.
I sold a lot of Spooky Town with great profit. The biggest issue is the manufacturing quality is poor. Many I had were new & sealed yet I had to open and take videos because of the failure rate. I’m a technical & handy guy. I was able to fix some, but others had stripped gears that were not available to fix them. So reseller beware when buying Spookytown.
Hey Mike. I have found a workaround to use your phone to add videos to your listings. If you go through your browser on your phone and not the app, you can pull up your listings and add videos. I’ve done it several times and would be happy to send screenshots if anybody’s interested.

Hi, I list from my phone and computer depends how I feel that day. If I'm going to do a marathon listing session then it's my computer. I take pictures of my phone they get uploaded to Google drive then to my computer which all happens automatically. I usually tend to list in the evening.

There are just so many variables. You will have to really compare condition, watermark and if it has no UPC code etc.
Cardboard isn't a trade commodity. Great video my friend.
I guess what I meant is is fluctuates in price do to certain factors. Recyclers only pay so much a ton etc..

You just have to scout around your city for someone that will sells GAYLORDS of books. Bigger cities are best. It's hard and as I have said took me 1.5 years to find my source.

On phone you can go into Chrome tap the upper right corner scroll down and you'll see desktop mode so not sure why that's an issue.
Not an issue as I don’t use it any ways. eBay should somehow integrate it so you don’t have to do what you just said .
@goldenstatepicker They should integrate it for the app, but the desktop view on the phone is still an option for those that work exclusively on their phones.

It sounds like the Ai puts in almost everything thst it can find about the item. Definitely will have to kerp an eye on the listings. Definitely let us know if the video is only if you have a store. Mike, I get so much out of your content - thanks so much! I started selling on Postmark a couple of months ago but want to start cross-selling on eBay using the cross-selling platform Flyp, So far I've done everything on my iPhone but I think I'm going to need to get a laptop in order to use Flyp. Do you have any recommendations on which laptop would be the best?
They all work just as well. I'm a MAC guy so I'm partial to them.
Desktop here, I don't feel good being on my phone all the time and I hardwired my laptop so I don't have to have wifi on.

Big box is the only way on those. I don't ship into AMAZON on 99.5% of those just due to weight and it might get damaged at Amazon.

I use a scrub buddy (Shark Tank) and a little soap. That's it.

I find 4X4, 5X5 and 6X6. All those I find behind Joanne's Fabric store. They have almost every box I need.
I buy 4x4x36 boxes on u-line. Very cheap and sturdy.

I was at a city wide sale this fall, and a guy was giving away about 40 car manuals. I looked then up and only the '88 Pontiac Fiero was worth taking. The rest were very common.
That's crazy. I find the Haynes and more just sold one today to Dodge Dakota. Service manuals can really be good. Sold a Datsun 280Z for over $100.

So, if you charge the buyer $5.00 for shipping and the actual shipping cost on the package is $2.50, don't they complain? I am no trying to be difficult, just trying to understand all aspects of reselling so I make as little mistakes as possible when I actually start in 2024. I have an iphone but a regular microsoft desktop pc. Can I still use dropbox to transfer photos in bulk or must I have a mac for that to work?

Why aren't you shipping Media Mail? It's way cheaper than flat rate..
Books DVD & CD can all ship media mail. My sales improved when Ifigured it out & changed to media mail.
I always ship media mail. The box I was talking about is one that ships closer to me and was cheaper than media mail shipping due to how close the person lived to me.
Used to be you'd get plenty of views, now most listings sit at zero views. Never had trouble selling on there in past years. My feedeback is 100%. I've been on there since 2005 just casually selling on occasion.
It really depends on what you are selling. Some categories are just dead these days.
How do you package your golf clubs for shipping?

Some books are not allowed for most sellers on Amazon. That is one reason.
Question on shipping golf clubs. I was doing well selling and shipping golf clubs when I was able to use the long triangular Post Office boxes. When they cut down the allowable length, I could no longer ship that way. How today do you ship adult clubs as separates, maybe 3 clubs, and a full set of irons? Thank you in advance for any feedback you can give me.
You just have to ship VIA UPS. I have a video coming up that will show just how cheap it is to ship long skinny items like golf clubs. You need to find 4X4 or 5X5 tubes. I collect them from various stores that I gather boxes at. I'm shipping single golf clubs for $9.63 6x6X38 etc.

Ai works on my phone. I hardly ever use my desktop.
Not the EBAY app. Browser side might.
I can never get the video to work. It says after I upload it that it is waiting for approval and that is the last thing I ever hear about it. But it does leave a thumbnail that won't play on the listing. I also can't get the description templates to work. They delete themselves at the end of every session.
What shipping handling time do you give yourself on eBay? Starting to get some burnout shipping things with 1 day handling. Does having longer shipping handling time really hurt your sales numbers?
I have 3 day handling. Hasn't hurt me one bit.
Same here. I list 3-day handling but try to get items out within 1-2 days when possible, but having the extra cushion is very helpful in some instances and saves a lot of stress. I’ve never had an issue getting an item out within 3 days and it also doesn’t seem to be an issue with buyers. And many times when I’m able to get the item within a day or two, it results in positive feedback.
Thanks. I will change to 3 day I just always heard that having 1 day shipping helped with getting your items sold quicker on the eBay on the algorithm side of things.

I don't know why my videos keep getting rejected by eBay. I make them on my phone, air drop to computer, and upload from there. No reson is give. Could it be because I am shooting in square format, like I do for still photos?
Change to regular mode. Also, make sure it is being uploaded in the proper MPEG 4 format I believe. It's not liking one of those is my guess.

Those so-called "AI" descriptions are awful, they are stilted, way too "flowery" and obviously fake. Speaking as a buyer, they come off as a red flag that the seller doesn't know what on earth they are selling (and may have just scanned a barcode and not even inspected what they are selling.) Like those media megasellers that have no description and only one tiny, blurry stock photo (or no photo at all), who knows what you'll get.
It's funny you talk about feedback. You're right, it's an absolute joke. I was watching an Aussie TH-camr and they were talking about another Aussie TH-camr and how they looked at their eBay feedback. If you look at it, they got 99.4% positive, looking thru only showed positive and it shows no neutral /negative but if you actually click on the neutral or the negative, which I did myself. It came up with a shit load of neutral and negative feedback. I was reading thru it and I just thought oh my god this guy a crook. Cheers Graham

You sell books on Amazon not ebay
I'm a daytime lister, but when household everything has settled down for the evening, sometimes I do a few more listings at night. I am not a phone lister. I don't like the AI descriptions. I use bullet points and people don't read them. Ebay had told us years ago to make brief, factual descriptions and now people are putting up the wordy, sometimes inaccurate and so subjective.
I find AI very wordy.
I pair it down a lot. It is a good foundation on many unique items. Sparingly used here.

I hate reading ai descriptions in listings. It's a turnoff and it doesn't give you any meaningful info. When I see ai descriptions, I immediately leave the listing and look for something else.
I hate the AI description nobody reads descriptions anyway what a waste of money for ebay, every time I try you have to edit at least half of it it'll add all kinds of stuff like warranty and definitely makes the buyer think they're getting something nicer and newer than they actually are I think it's going to cause more negative feedback I know I've had a few because of the stupid AI

@@bearsmom42Yes, I agree! I wasted more time that way, so I've returned to typing in my own descriptions. It's faster (despite what ebay apparently thinks.)
Occasionally I use AI and edit what is “fluff” or plain wrong. After I used it quite a bit I backed off and returned to my own accurate descriptions, with the tone that’s “me.” It is so cool, though, to see that AI description pop up instantly.

The AI description is horrible, I absolutely hate it, It makes me laugh out loud and it makes me doubt the seller has even proofread it. It's at the point where I don't even want to buy from that seller and just skip it over.
I don't want to read paragraphs. I want concise easily scanned bullet points for anything relevant. I don't want fluff.
That's why you can use it as a base. Take out one sentence etc. I use it that way on some items. Most I don't use AI, but there are items that I will use it to help me with some things.
