Hangs on the GOOGLE screensaver. I did not disassemble, but simply mechanically bent the tablet so that the connector under the case moved and the tablet could be overloaded! Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for the clear instructions. I was able to get to the clear cache screen but unfortunately my Nexus 7 failed to clear cache - it said "error" several times. Think it's died! Time to get a new tablet.....

If your Nexus is stuck on the google screen turn nexus over and tap with 2 fingers along the nexus icon on the back of your device turn back over if no joy repeat!!! This works I've just done it!!! I KNOW!! It shouldn't but it does with no lost data!!!! 🤣😂😍

My Nexus tablet stopped working for several years as it wouldn't charge up. l put it on charge last week and it charged up. I followed some you tube videos and its now powered up. But when it gets to the welcome screen and I click on the arrow in the ENGISH (United States ) nothing happens. what am I doing wrong.

How long did it take to reboot? Mine is taking more than 30 minutes with no success

One I reboot pressing power and volume down button the tab is stuck in google logo and not going to the green android screen.

Stuck at the start up screen. Unable to go passed select wi-fi. Shows connected but Wi-Fi icon on top is blank.

Pulled out the tablet today and ended up with this same issue, no option to skip or continue.

I went through the process but once I select recovery mode it goes to the Google logo and stays there. If I select the power and volume up button while it's there it will show the battery full indicator then turn off. That's about all it will do though.
That's unfortunate, you may need to try more complicated methods to reset.

Ok how long does it take to come back on after the factory reset the little colorful balls are still turning around for at least 15 minutes now
It tends to take a very long time unfortunately
I did the first step repeatedly because it was still freezing on the google screen. I found out that if I hit the back off it repeatedly after each step, it advances to the next step. Not sure why but my frustration worked

My Nexus continuously cycles through "Power Off" "Start" "Restart Bootloader" and "Recovery Mode" with nothing pressed.
If I hit the power button promptly I can Start, and Restart Bootloader, but I never get the "No Command" screen, and from Settings when trying to Reset Tablet, it takes me back to the continuously cycling.
Any hints?
Unfortunately, you may need to reflash the firmware to start over. But this is a more involved process.
WONDERFUL Tutorial, quick and simple, thank you! Unfortunately, did not work for me. Initial problem: tablet suddenly locked up in use. Rebooted. Stuck on Google screen since. So, I went all the way through system reboot with your directions. I'm stuck on Google screen again. I can't progress to the swirling colored balls. HELP???
Also, I'm heartbroken that Google isn't making tablets anymore. What do you recommend? This has been beyond expectations, the best tablet I've ever owned. I tried many others. Nope! As a Google device, I always got the system update rollouts first, too. Do any tablets get that now? Samsung Galaxy, perhaps? I'm so poor. If I can't fix this, I'm going to have to beg with a cardboard sign on a freeway ramp. :( HELP?

You may have a different tablet, try googling to procedure for your tablet

I get to the step when the little android on its back is showing but the words "No Command" are below it. Pressing PWR-> VolUp -> 3S -> Release VolUp -> Relelase PWR has no effect. The phone then tries to continue booting displaying 2 of the colored round circles, freezes, then reboots.

Well crap, I just posted that. As soon as I select Recovery, it goes to Google screen, and I can't get my "dead android" (no command). I got it once, and missed my chance. Did you get yours fixed? HOW?

Ya, this technique will not always work
The Recovery screen is stuck on reboot system now and will not respond to pressing volume up or down buttons.

Did this with my nexus 7 2013, but after rebooting it just sits on the Google logo screen, literally for hours.
Unfortunately my Nexus 2013 died for other reasons not too long ago.
Mine isn't going off the 4 coloured dots.

I followed the instructions implicitly, but the screen shows the google logo with an open lock, and then android man with 'no command'. Stuck on that!

I had to do this once before myself and I was able to unbrick my Nexus 7.
thanks so much for responding; this doesn't work for me, I cannot turn off the nexus. Holding down the power button just alternates the screen from 'no command' to Google logo (with open padlock) and back again continuously.

my tablet worked for about 30 minutes sfter doing this, I was so happy.. then it asked for a google play update, once I updated that, I'm back to square 1 and the reset isnt working now when I do all the steps to reset it it goes back to the stuck google page :(

After I pick Recovery Mode, it goes blank, then Google screen but the little bot never shows. Just stays frozen on Google screen. So frustrating.
That's unfortunate. This particular tablet is over a decade old now, it might be time to call it quits.

Also Nexus 7 is stuck in safe mode. I have tried many suggestions to get out of safe mode and none are correct. I wish I could just wipe out and go back to the previous operating system.

This is the 3rd video from people that obviously don't have any clue about this problem. It's also the reason I'll never buy another Google sponsored product. They don't value their customers! I had a 2013 LTE Nexus 7, I can get to the recovery screen, but as soon as you select Recovery Mode, IT GOES RIGHT BACK INTO THE "GOOGLE BOOT LOOP OF HELL"~!
This procedure does not always work on all devices.

Emma Happy The only other fix, if this does not work, is to reflash it with the original firmware. But this is a much more involved process. If you do plan to do this, I recommend just ditching the original firmware and just install CyanogenMod instead, visit their site for instructions

If your device has important data you want to recover, I would recommend going to an expert at this point. But, if your device is a few years old and you don't mind taking a little risk and trying something a little more involved.. I would say give lineageOS a try. Check here to see if your device is supported: wiki.lineageos.org/devices/ ...also here is some basic instructions to get you started and give you an idea of what it's like to install a custom rom like LineageOS: www.androidauthority.com/lineageos-install-guide-893303/

Mine got fixed by wiping cache instead of performing a factory reset.

As long as you set everything to back up to the cloud (this is Google's solution for not having external SD card), all your files are in the cloud! Just go to photos.google.com/ :)

Took me a few tries, but it eventually got there. But now that its reset to factory, I'm just getting the Google again, only it's flashing off and on every 20 seconds or so...
