I still have mine!! 32gb model, I just charged it up and turned it on, updated all the apps. It’s still so fast for something that came out nearly a decade ago! I will keep this forever. The age of tablets this small is dead however this one will always be special to me.

Back in 2013, I was having tutor classes for my finals and my teacher had one of these. I remember noticing how nice the tablet looked, how bright and vivid the display was and how smooth the UI felt. That was the first time I came in contact with a Nexus product as well as when I learned about stock Android. A year later I purchased a Nexus 5 which, to this day, is still the phone that provided me with the most joyful experience and made me feel exactly the same as I felt about the tablet.
Coming from a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, the Nexus 5 was leaps and bounds ahead - the feel in the hand, the IPS display, the stock Android KitKat experience, the performance, I could go on. It had its shortcomings, such as the battery and camera, but the pros outweighed the cons. In the 5 years of using it, I've learned how to root it and flash custom ROM's and kernels, and it still runs to this day. Now it's sitting inside its original box and I've flashed it back to the very first build of Android KitKat just for originality's sake.

Nexus 7 was my first tablet ever. It was bought to carry my electronic books I needed in my university. The size of it was just perfect! Very nice to carry in one hand!
Years later, I got iPad 9 with Apple Pencil. Then I changed it to iPad Pro and iPad Mini. But none of them were ever used as heavily, as I used my Nexus 7 during my bachelor studies.❤
I think it was a great Tablet back in time! I didn’t experience any problems with it! It is a bit sad, that now market for the small screen smartphones and tablets is decreasing.

Watching this on my 2013 Nexus 7 32gb. This thing is still a beast! It's a shame this line was abandoned. If you were to make a tablet with today's spec standards in this form and size it would sell like hotcakes! Would be the ipad mini competitor!

Mine used to occasionally fail to boot, I had two, and they both eventually had this issue from time to time. For some ungodly reason you gave them a firm knock on the back, it would be able to boot just fine right after. They worked perfectly fine besides that until the newer OSs slowed down their performance, but with the factory settings, they are flawless.

Love my Nexus 7 and so sad it can no longer update anything Google because they abandoned it as unsafe on net. Someone should be able to make it safe. My original from early 2013 still works perfectly and I have bought other tablets since Google stopped supporting it and none of them are as good. I love tablets for reading books and want them small and light. Nexus 7 is perfect and there is simply nothing else available. Don't want to pay over $1000 for a giant phone which is not quite as big and I don't want my tablet to make phone calls - just get on the
net, get books to read, play music (my own) so I can practice, access stuff on net. If anyone has any ideas what programs to use that will work I would love to know about them. I think this tablet is probably good for another 10 years. And all the other tablets are really annoying and heavy and clunky - all of them!! So sad that the best tech is always abandoned instead of improved.

Dang... How am I the first to point out that it has 323 PPI, not 232? You undersold it by a HUGE amount! There are pretty much no tablets with that high of a PPI today, and sadly way too many with around 232.

I've used my Nexus7 for an average of about 10 hours a week ever since I got it in 2013 and it's still going strong.
And yes, still running KitKat of course :)

I put Android 7.1 on mine and am using it to control Home Assistant until I can get a replacement (chip shortages and all). But it's very slow on a modern Android version, not that Android 7.1 is very "modern". The battery is absolutely poked, or it is the charging mechanish itself that is the issue. Charging is very very slow taking several days to charge. I hear that is a common issue with the Nexus 7.

On a note . I've torn apart many Nexus 7's and replaced screen's and charge ports . They're not really hard to replace ( I'm not all that Tech inclined ) . I think now it would be harder to find the parts maybe . Check out ( I think it's called ) iFixit . I think they have both 2012 and 2013 teardown instructions .

Change your battery. Being a very old tablet it's battery may have been degraded thus not providing enough power for the tablet
