Looks like K&N nailed it. Looks like a perfect fit. All kinds of great turbo noises from that I’m sure. Lucky you to have the opportunity to own a Maverick. They are not easy to get 😢 Very thorough video. Hopefully you’ll do another video with driving and sound Thx
I appreciate that you're here simplifying the instructions for people, but there's a few things people need to know. I just broke off the IAT or air intake temperature sensor because every plastic piece on this thing is SOOO brittle. So, that snapped. New part from Ford. Also the intake piece that goes above the radiator and the piece that connects to the elbow we have to remove? Yeah it snapped in half too. Then I'm reading the instructions K&N print and you have to CUT cables and connections that run to the top of the engine. I think I'm going to abort and send it back. Its just not worth destroying the truck. And with these parts being so brittle, I'm not sure how long the truck will last even with the stock intake. PS- My Maverick is a 2024, 11 months old.
I can't tell a difference at idle but I just posted a short on my channel if you'd like to here it. It doesn't quite do it justice but at least you can hear it.
How would you know if this increases horsepower an engine torque If you do not have a dyno Numbers OnThe truck Before and after Putting this on your truck
I tried to record it for you guys but you couldn't tell from the audio. The best way I could describe it is when the turbo spools up you get an induction noise (think a sucking sound) that sounds almost like a jet engine and when you let off the throttle you get the turbo blow off noise. Let me know it that helps, if not I'll try to make a youtube short to capture the sound.
Hi so I installed mine and I have the 2.0 Turbo and I’m hearing a lot of what sounds like turbo boost waste like a waste gate. I checked everything multiple times and everything is on tight etc. So is this sound normal with cold air intake on a turbo vehicle?
@@deserttrek I agree it does look pretty badass, but since it's a cold intake does that mean it does better in the winter? And what about miles per gallon?
The theory on how a cold air intake works is you want cold air in your engine because the air molecules will be closer together when cold, and that means more air can be in each cylinder, giving you a more complete combustion. The way a cold air intake "cools" the air is it is made from non-heat transferring materials and the air filter has a heat shield around it so heat from the engine is less likely to be sucked into the intake. It also helps that K&N uses a less restrictive air filter so more air can be sucked in at any given moment. Let me know it that made any sense😅 I haven't noticed a difference in mpg
@@deserttrek do you still have it installed? I have it and I got the MagnaFlow and I’ve only gone like 30mi so far but it seems like it’s just not a tight feel as far as throttle goes if you know what I mean?
I do still have it installed (and still like it) and am planning on getting the Magnaflow exaust, too! So are you saying there is more lag between the push of the petal and the turbo spooling up?
@@deserttrek yes that’s what I’m saying. I have worked on my motorcycles before and put intakes on them and if this was one of my bikes I’d say it’s getting to much air like bogging down.. I only got 450miles on the engine so far so it’s not even broken in so I’m thinking maybe it will go away once the break in period is over. If not I’m putting the air box back in
@@deserttrek what is the benefit of installing a strut brace in a maverick? I was advised against it, but figured it would at least increase the life span of my struts 🤷🏻♂️
No, the truck is fine just the way it is. The strut tower brace helps to stiffen the chassis, so during turns, you won't have as much body roll but the suspension will feel slightly more harsh.
Personally, I like the ride of the truck better now, and I don't notice the suspension being more rough. With that said, if you have no issues with the ride quality stock, I'd save your money👍
This cold air intake is only for the 2.0 ecoboost, and I'm not sure if anyone has made a CAI for the 2.5 hybrid yet. You may want to check the Maverick forums to see if anyone has found one yet. Good luck!

Like to hear the changes in the sound of the engine.
Sorry it took me a couple days but I just posted a short on my channel if you'd like to hear it. I'd say it still sounds better in person
Thanks bro for the video. I will be installing one on my 23 Maverick if it will ever get here

$79, remove the old filter, replace with K&N and get +5hp ... for $270 less ... oh, and a 5% increase in fuel mileage.
I was wondering if they made just a straight filter yeah, that makes more sense to me. I just don’t like voiding warrantees and all that.
Irrelevant
Would love to hear it start up!

@@deserttrek I’ll check it out. 👍
I can’t wait til Chevy gets one for my 23 Colorado Trail Boss!
I assume this is in line with the gains over the past xx year on this engine?
Are you willing to sell the old intake pipe? Mine broke trying to change the plugs LOL.

K&N did a dyno before and after. I used the numbers they advertised on their site, so take it with a grain of salt
Looks nice 👍
When you say its sounds more aggressive -- deeper/lower pitch?
Cheers

Yes, the factory air box does a great job at muffuling the sound so that is to be expected
Ok that’s what I thought thanks 😁👍🏻
Can this be done on the Hybrid version?
This one is for the 2.0 ecoboost only. I haven't seen any cold air intakes for the 2.5 hybrid but I'm sure someone will make one eventually!
That K&N is the same for the Bronco Sport BadLands?
I believe so, but I'd double-check on their website just to be safe👍
@@deserttrek I think both have the same engine bay
I think you are correct
@@deserttrek any intercoolers+down pipe site?
I'm definitely going to get both, but I don't know what brand I'd like yet, though
Please let us hear the engine with the new cold air intake. The stock engine sound is not great.
I did make a youtube short with the new sound (check it out on my channel). I didn't put it in the video because it didn't do it justice.
What are the benefits, besides the change in engine noise?
An increase of 7 horsepower and 10LB-FT of torque. Also looks lol

If it’s the hybrid, I wouldn’t want to decrease the mpg, that’s what we bought it for!
i have this intake for sale

Yes it is.

Interesting, I'll have to see about that once I get my exhaust. Hopefully we didn't waste a couple hundred $ on the K&N😅
Now you need a steeda strut tower brace.
Already got it👌. That will be installed soon with the Steeda sway bar as well
Is a strut tower brace necessary at all in a maverick? What would you say the benefits are?

AFE Momentum GT is better, sealed box and better gains, this k&N is a HOT AIR intake.
I'll have to look into it, thanks
