Why Yamaha does not create detailed how-to video tutorials for Genos features? It's a shame that it's flagship is supported by a manual and a couple of 1 minute videos...
I have a Yamaha EX5 synthesizer and I think the manual was written in Japanese, translated to French, translated to pig latin and then to English. It is a terrible manual. I also have a Yamaha PSR280 that I got for my daughter. The manual that came with that is great. Go figure.
Martin Harris, by far the best musician demonstrating the GENOS, in my opinion. First time I notice the fluff under your chin. Let it grow out Martin. It will give you a whole new cool look. You have sold me on the GENOS. First time in a long time I have set a goal for myself - buy a GENOS by the end of the year. Yamaha is truly the best. I can't wait until I have my very own GENOS.

You are a magician, and the music is the magic. Fantastic demo. Thank you and Sweetwater for a really great video. I would love to own one. Maybe someday.
This is a great piece of equipment for a songwriter in pre-production,or a guy with a one, two,or three man band in a lounge here in Vegas, but in a studio environment,it would be nice to have separate outputs for each group of instruments,(drums, piano, guitars, woodwinds, strings) so you can create the mix you want or you'd have to overdub every instrument when producing a song, which kind of defeats the purpose of this instrument in a studio environment. For almost six grand,I'd want professional "hi-z"outputs for each group.
you can actually do midi recording inside the instrument and save it into a MIDI file, then import it into your DAW while connecting to your GENOS, and then you can play the MIDI file in your DAW and you can hear the sound from GENOS, then you can edit as you wish in your DAW.

It's not just the contents of an arranger workstation that count. It's mainly what can be done with such contents. And there are plenty of possibilities on the Tyros 5, the PSR S970 and more recently, this great new Genos instrument. Yamaha Genos? Ought to be called the Yamaha Genius.
Really!!! You might need a reality check. For Workstations, you always bet on YAMAHA. Yamaha’s (BBB) BigBooBoo was abandoning The MOTIF Concept and replacing it WITH the no Good Montage. BRING MOTIF BACK!!! For those of us who cannot afford Mighty GENOS.
Shame...here in Indonesia most players are buying the latest boards but all they do is to play old styles inherited from their older boards, not even making use much of the new features so it still sounds cheesy to me years after years...loud mix but expressionless
No it's not intended for music production, Montage or MODX are intended for music production as they are workstation/synths. Even though Yamaha market their flagship arranger keyboard as a "digital workstation" which is very misleading this is really an arranger rather than a workstation intended for one man band performers playing live. But the majority of midi sequencing nowadays is done using a DAW, midi comtroller and VST instruments, it's been that way for the past 15 years.
From reading the comments there are lot of people out there who cannot save or come up with a paltry $5,500 to buy something. The real reason I guess is that they just don't like Yamaha products and will come up with any bit of trivia about the machine to downgrade it, including referencing the 'incredible' cost to purchase it...should have stayed at school longer people...
