Laniakea: Our home supercluster

  • Superclusters - regions of space that are densely packed with galaxies - are the biggest structures in the Universe. But scientists have struggled to define exactly where one supercluster ends and another begins. Now, a team based in Hawaii has come up with a new technique that maps the Universe according to the flow of galaxies across space. Redrawing the boundaries of the cosmic map, they redefine our home supercluster and name it Laniakea, which means ‘immeasurable heaven’ in Hawaiian.

I dont see humans creating infinite energy anytime soon to make wormholes, reaching speed of light requires infinite energy as well and zero mass, even if that can be gotten around relativity predicts it will take infinite amount of time to travel from point A to Point B at the speed of light as time stops at for the thing traveling at that speed also lightspeed is too slow for interstellar travel beyond some of the closest stars too us. so yeah we wont be exploring the universe my man, we're more likely to go extinct first.

I used to clip and save newspaper stories about the Universe. The announcement of Superclusters of Galaxies was in the newspaper in the late 1950's early 1960's, I was in 4th. and 5th. and then 6th. grade at the time. I remember when they first measured and announced the size and age of the known Universe a few years later. Sadly I lost all those clippings of stories somewhere during my life as I am now 64. I think my family, brothers and sister or parents must have found them and thwown them out thinking thery were meaningless. But as a child I used to enjoy teaching those who would listen about the solar system, the galaxy, clusters of galaxies and finally superclusters. Most people had no idea of this science. Funny as it was published in the newspapers as I have already said. I am still always reading any publication on astronomy and our Universe. My most favorite subject in my entire life!

If we were at the centre of the Solar System we would be in the middle of a nuclear reaction.
If we were at the centre of the Milky Way we would be being sucked into a black hole.
And if we were at the centre of Laniakea, the Great Attractor? Well, who knows but it probably isn't very conducive to life.

IIARROWS to be honest with you if you understand the Big Bang and expansion of the universe then you will learn that there is no border to the universe. In a weird way yes we are the center of it. But so is another galaxy. Basically wherever you observe the universe is center of universe because of the rate of expansion. I learned this recently it’s cool.

Sadly what is in the night sky may not be there if we were to instantly travel over there. The light that we see is just “Old Light”, Light that has taken many many years to reach us. For example, a star around 10 Million Light years away from earth would shine light towards us, and we would see it. However, that light has taken 10 Million years to reach us, so what we are seeing is just an old picture of what said star looked like 10 Million Years Ago. Anything could’ve happened in that amount of time, so it may not even be there should we teleport over there T_T.

The fermi paradox doesn't state that we are alone. It just brings up the question: "Why haven't we discovered alien life yet and why are there almost no signs?".
There are a lot of theories. Maybe alien life is rarer than we think. Maybe aliens don't want to get involved with us. Maybe our understanding of the universe is extremely incomplete.
There are tribes in papua new guinea who don't believe in white people because they don't have contact with the rest of the world. The government are leaving them alone and maybe the aliens are doing a similar thing.
Another theory is that every civilization is killing itself before it can inhibit other star systems or an entire galaxy. The distances between stars are massive and it takes a lot of very advanced technology to travel this far. It takes technological knowledge that may also be dangerous for their own civilization, f.e. artificial intelligence.
Maybe one day, on our search for alien life, we instead come across alien artificial intelligence. Scary thought but who knows.

In fact the 'concept' [actually a fact of mystical realization] which, as Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan stressed, is central to all Hindu philosophy is the doctrine of the Atman-Brahman. The Atman [a.k.a. Pure Consciousness, Inner Light] is the impersonal, Light of Universal Consciousness/Spirit at the core of our mental being [it is also the same as the Prana or Life Energy]. The Atman is one with the macrocosmic Universal Consciousness/Spirit or Brahman which pervades and Transcends the phenomenal universe and is its Ground of Being. Schrodinger - a lifelong advocate of Nondual Brahmanism called the Doctrine of the Atman Brahman the grandest thought ever put forward by humans. In fact, the central notion of the Mediterranean Mystery Religions whose myths were copied by the Hellenized Jewish Gnostics to concoct the Gospel myths of the mythical character Iesous [as a Jewish Mystery Religion] which were actually allegories for spiritual transformation to attain gnosis/enlightenment was the death of the lower self (ego) [as symbolized by the Crucifixion - Orpheus/Bacchus was the crucified demigod before Christians copied this] and our rebirth/resurrection as the Higher Self (the Universal Daemon/Spirit) which underlies/pervades and creates the universe.
I am in fact the man who identified the physical correlate of this Inner Light/Divine Light with the brainwaves of the Reticular Activating System. You can see the full evidence supporting this correlation [drawn primarily from authoritative Hindu and Buddhist yogic phenomenology] on the Evidence page of my website www.sutapas.com If you are interested in how it is possible to transcend the limitations of Wakeful Time/Space in such altered states, you will find a free pdf of the manuscript of my journal paper 'Transcendence of the Time/Space Matrix of Perception in Enlightenment and Near-Death Experience' on another page of the website.

Probably the one just outside of Sloan's Great Wall. From there, you'd be able to see the not only towards the majority of the universe, but see past the boundary identified as the Observable Universe.

😳 all I can say is I had goosebumps, we are so limited in mindset, that we seldom stop to think about how our energy is contributing to billions of future lives. The immeasurable heaven is unfathomable, every single one of us are part of a divine design. ❤️

Actually, what you're describing is how plasma reacts when its electrified. It becomes "filamentary". Whats ironic about this video (and the accompanying research) points more towards the Plasma Cosmology (and even Electric Universe) than it does to Standard Cosmology......

As their galaxies incessantly hurtled towards the _The Great Attractor_, the thousands of species inhabiting the Laniakea Supercluster were anxious to meet their brethren, at last! Little did they know, that this giant funnel would lead them straight to their deaths; the mouth of a Space Amoeba...
