There is now a Metrolink app on android and iOS which is very easy to use. I used it recently to get to Union station from Oceanside and it works great, unlike the TVM's.
I agree with the machines not working, though fortunately, I was able to get my debit card to work as the machine would not read my credit card and almost missed my train at Oceanside station.
Metrolink is getting new touch screen TVM's, but some might be cashless, though they might take things like credit, debit, mobile payments, and even EBT.
one of the things you have to put up with is the possibility (probability) that the machine does not work.

I would like to know if I can buy a ticket on Ticket Vending Machine going from my state to another state. Will it be just one ticket or two or more?
Metrolink only serves Southern California counties.
Where is the app version to purchase tickets?
It's not that simple. The UK versions have touch screens. Not bad though.
