    Morning guys! We are inclined to call this SUV a "Sports Sedan" because these performance crossovers are what manufacturers are seeing a lot of consumers trade in their traditional sports sedans for. While we may not like it, you can't argue with the increased practicality these SUV's give you while not losing too much in terms of driving fun. You could even call this 2019 SQ5 a bargain Porsche Macan S for a lot less money. Thanks for watching as always! Oh... and before someone else asks... we're leaving for Lake Tahoe in a week to drive and film the 2019 Mazda3 so stay tuned for that video soon!

    Highly recommend it. Efficient highway mpg (mid-20s), superbly comfortable, ran a 13.6 @ 100mph on a warm night. The E-diff is really cool for large throttle input, tight maneuvers like pulling out in traffic. Without the drivers assistance package, but 21” wheels and Napa leather, the dealer discounted it 10% and we paid $60k.

      Rob Eckaus - Barely Streetable - if people going make it their daily driver with traffic, they really need to get the drivers assistance package. It’s my fav feature which is so helpful.

    I drove the SQ5 for a couple days and really liked it. My only gripe with it was backseat leg room, I’m 5’11” and with the drivers seat adjust for me I couldn’t sit behind me for very long ( almost Honda Civic tight). It’s definitely a fun to drive crossover

    Audi used to be a benchmark on interior style, fit/finish, and features. Now they just come off as Volkswagens with an option package. The dash on this model in particular, doesn't appear to be all that different up top than a Tiguan.
    Most egregious is the fake exhaust seemingly affecting all new Audis. It comes off as cost-cutting...in a luxury brand. The Volvo XC60, GLC, and even some iterations of the X3(40i) just seem to have a bit more polish.

      my dad just bought a 2019 SQ5.. and the seats are really nice, but the rest of the cabin felt a lot like my 2010 VW golf... especially the doors which are hard plastic on the top and the handle feels cheap. all the wipper/turn signal levers feel like fucking toys r us... is sad cause its a fun car and the exterior looks nice

      Recently test drove both a Tiguan Allspace and SQ5; the only comparable similarity is the virtual cockpit and the implementation thereof is much better in the SQ5. I definitely didn’t feel like I was sitting in similar cars. The Audi’s interior is much more plush and well put together than the VW’s. The cars in question were a 2018 SQ5 and a 2020 Tiguan.

  • @jhall159
    @jhall159 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Having owned a loaded (minus dynamic steering) 2018 SQ5 since it launched I can say there are many good things but a few bad as well. The biggest complaint I have is the throttle/turbo response. The boost lag is obvious although much improved when driving with transmission in sport setting. The lag is not long but it makes accelerating difficult to manage. Torque is an on or off switch and plateaus immediately. It just isn’t smooth like competing BMW drivetrains. Standard steering is also garbage which is my second complaint. Tech looks great on paper but doesn’t work perfectly in the real world plus you have to pay a pretty significant monthly fee to keep traffic and other connectivity features. Everything else is fantastic. The sounds are great, manual shifting excellent, air suspension is insanely comfortable but sporty and interior is top of the field. As a driving enthusiast, I’m not too thrilled with this car. If you’re looking for a quick luxury car with great comfort and utility, this is the one. For me, I’ll be back in a BMW when the lease is up.

    I love my 2019 Audi SQ5 Prestige (with driver assistance) in Ibis white! I have the dynamic steering, sports package, cold weather package, carbon atlas inlays, and the fine Nappa leather seating. I feel my car is the modern day SPORT crossover utility vehicle. You can place kayaks on the roof cross bars, tow a jet ski or small boat, and put the air suspension in Allroad and go through snow without a problem. The Quattor system is excellent and slightly better than the Xdrive from BMW. I personally went with the 20" 5 spoke wheels which I think look pretty good and come with all seasons vs. the 21" wheel package. I drove the BMW X3M40i and X5 with M sport package. Both of which are great suv's. The X3M40i is slightly faster and the transmission is nice. But, it is narrow and the seats and interior are not as nice as the Audi. Plus, the BMW's cater to Apple phones and leave Android users out, of which I am. The build quality in the BMW is not as good in the Audi and the doors close with a twang vs the thunk of the Audi. The Audi B&O sound system is far superior to the BMW HK. Now, the BMW X5 with the M sport package is a whole different level and I love that vehicle. But, you instantly jump up 10k or more. So, I chose the Audi and I am very happy with my purchase. Lastly, the exhaust tips took a little getting used to. However, real tips only look good on a new car. After that, you are constantly trying to keep them clean. The BMW X3M40i black paint was flaking off on the exhaust tips of my friends' after a few thousand miles. That looked terrible to me so what is the point of tips then. I agree with about 90% of his review!

      @58HUSTLER 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been looking really hard at this vehicle, and you mention the ability to tow, but when I called my local hitch and tow company, they said according to their computer there were no parts to install a hitch on a SQ5, a regular Q5 - yes, but not the S model. This is cause for concern for me because if I can't tow with this car I'll be forced to choose something else.

    By the way the traffic light integration feature is only available in like 6 cities throughout the _entire_ US right now. Depending on where you live, more likely most people will never see this feature in action. And it’s part of Audi Connect monthly subscription fee for avg $30 per mo. I thought it was pretty cool when I first noticed it, but after 15 minutes when initial novelty wore off, it’s just a gimmick. Can’t see it being that useful for anyone.
    But I would have shown the Park Assist instead. That seems a bit more useful.

    Good review. But that is a 2018 not a 2019 model. 2019s are de badged with he “V6T” on the front fender. It’s also missing the Audi phone box which is standard on the Premium Plus & Prestige trims. The manual rear sunshades come with the Warm Weather Package not the Cold Weather Package.

    I considered an SQ5 to replace my 2015 Audi S3. This would have been my first SUV. Test drove the SQ5 and decided that SUV's weren't for me. The SQ5 felt lethargic, cumbersome, lacked any type of poise, felt sloppy and was noticeably slower than my S3. Not to mention the fake exhausts. I decided to get the S5 Sportback instead. But before I decided the get the Sportback, I decided to give the new BMW X3 3.0i a test drive. After that test drive I ordered a X3 M40i. The BMW X3 3.0i felt just as fast the Audi SQ5 and was much better poised, more solid and composed. Now that I own the BMW X3 M40i I can say that the BMW is in a completely different performance league than the SQ5. The BMW feels and is faster than my S3 while the SQ5 is slower than the S3. Not even close when it comes to acceleration. The M40i would destroy the SQ5 is any type of acceleration runs. Which leads me to this. Every reviewer is disingenuous when it comes to the SQ5 and BMW X3M40i. They make is seem like there isn't too much of a difference when the reality is that the BMW is in a completely different performance league than the Audi.

    I have a 2012 Q5 and honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the new interior. It feels like Audi has cheapened it. A notable exception is the tech - love the virtual cockpit. The exterior looks nearly the same as the 2012 model I have, though it’s more angular. In contrast, I really love the design of the A5/S5 Sportback and considering the cargo space and reduced weight, that may be my next car.

      The Volvo sounds like a Toyota Corolla with that Twincharged motor. The V6 in the SQ5 sounds fantastic. It doesn't have fake exhausts (of course it has an exhaust) it has fake tips.

    • @JulezWinnfield
      @JulezWinnfield 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe any current generation Volvo has a comparable engine note as a Toyota Corolla. Volvo's T5 engine is rated at 248-250 hp, the T6 engine is rated at 316hp, while the T8 engine is rated at 400hp. The newly released Toyota Corolla's highest normally aspirated engine rating is 169 hp while the previous generation was rated at slightly over 130hp. With well over a 100hp disparity in engine power rating and larger cylinder displacement, I'm not sure how you'd equate their engine notes.
