      @letslearnthai I am trying to understand what you mean by Male and Female Speaker. What is confusing is the word Speaker. Does it mean that the person we speak to is M/F or does it mean that the person Speaking (me) is F/M. Thanks!

      @@bozhidarkn it means that you are male or female. Krup is for male. And kha is for females. So if you’re a man, you should say krup. Whoever the other person is doesn’t matter. All that matters is who you are

    I've been studying thai language for 2 months now.     These are good phrases to know. I need to watch your mouth form the words and for me what really helps is that you show the words. I like to see the words as you say them. But I need repetition. Someone to practice with. Kop-kun-krup.

    You have the most warmest smile! I notice that a lot of the words that begin with the letter R are rolled or trilled. Are all Rs in Thai rolled? Is there a rule about that? It sounds really nice. That’s also done in Spanish (and many other languages). I was never able to speak Spanish very well when I was learning it because I cannot roll my Rs.

      Yes, when an R (ร) is the beginning letter, we trill our tongues (except ทร, สร). When an R is the ending consonant, we pronounce like an N. However, in daily casual conversation, people just omit the trilling and pronounce like an L 🙂

    I have a question if that is alright- if “Mai ao” is “I won’t take it.” Then what is “I’ll take it.” ?

      You can say “okay” or “ao + polite particle”. If you are a man, say “ao krup”. If you are a woman, say “ao kha”.

    Wow, that is a great video for tourists like me) also, should I use “kha” after saying “it looks yummy” or”yummy”? Or it’s used for every word, even single-standing one

      We commonly use it after every sentence (to be polite). When we speak with friends or someone we have a close relationship with, we don't use kha but drop it or use another particles. Anyway, for you as a guest of the country, kha should always be used.

    very helpful on my first trip. but thais don't pronounce the 'r'. so that really messed me up when I would say krap instead of kap

      Oh actually we appreciate people who say krap! Though kap is the way we usually pronounce, but we appreciate people who speak proper Thai.
