I agree with you to an extent. However if this is up for discussion, you can’t say better than the original if they are constantly doing karaoke to perfect a sound that the Americans already have. Hence why you don’t see that many Philippines main streaming. They are too busy perfecting the art of mimicking sounds that when they become big in the Philippines they are not heard of in America cause why? We already had or have that sound.

I'm gonna agree with another comment here and say how refreshing it is to see a "voice teacher reacts" video where y'all actually know what you're talking about 😂. As a young voice teacher, I like to hear from more experienced teachers to improve my own teaching, but most of the youtubers I've come across don't address technique, or when they do it's very minimal and shallow. You're the third voice teacher channel I've come across that addresses the important topics, and you'll be the third one I subscribe to!
After watching 95% of Morissette’s live performances doing different genres, I became extremely addicted. She can do so many genres (pop, a bit of rock, ballad, DISNEY songs, etc.) beautifully fitting her voice while retaining her artistic touch/style. She has this signature style that comes out from time to time. She is BEYOND AMAZING!
Morissette has a vocal range that spans 5 octaves and 2 notes. She has an extensive, connected range, allowing her to transition into other registers smoothly.
This is the reason why we need you guys because of you we learn something new about singing even though most of us is not a singer, we just love your opinion on the techniques that every singers do so that we would have an idea on it. Thanks for being honest and don't worry there are tons of vocal coaches and teachers who also reacts about her so it's nothing to be worried about.
This is the kind of reaction I like. Giving us reaction with technicalities, like behind the scene of what is really going on and all that and not just merely saying "wow im amazed". As what my highscool coach said, you can sing with a little wrong notes and those who do not know stuff will still be Wowed. So it's really different to see voice coaches/singers be actually amazed.
I didn't notice a conclusion to the discussion regarding the use of mix or not. They ended that discussion as respectfully disagreeing. As a none vocalist who likes to understand what I'm hearing it breaks my brain when people who are professionals can't fully agree with a discussion regarding mechanics. Not the subjective elements but the fundamental mechanisms of the voice. Not to call them unprofessional that's not the intention of this comment. I had to rewatch it thinking i missed something. It's not about having a imaginary notion that needs to be proven right, I'm just trying to understand it.
Yeah I agree, but I really don't know if they're arguing, debating, agreeing or something else like what the other replied. But I really learned a lot from them.
@@Wiley_Coyote yah.. if she strain there's probably veins showing on her neck.. but probably she has good control of her voice and she's not even trying hrd.. it looks so easy for her actually...
@@Wiley_Coyote Totally agree. Many of the voice experts/teachers’ reactions differ. Morissette is highly technical vocalist and she does not strain her voice. It was evident in her “Never Enough” performance where she finished it from a high belt to a soft notes.
@@teachermennen9777 Morrinatic here. She actually strains a lot. She actually only supports up to C5 consistently, and she frequently sings songs that are higher than that. Her voice is deteriorating. Listen to her Heart Attack cover, which is new. She strains and pushes a lot.
Hey! Got here after your first reaction video of her. In this reaction, I felt sorry that you have to say disclaimers from time to time just because people didn't understand you or took your opinions negatively. I live for reaction videos like this. Very honest. Very professional. Please keep up the good work.
Thank you for featuring Morissette in your channel and I think both of you made a fair assessment. In my opinion, she's very much aware of her vocal health that's why she uses her whistle tone sparingly. As solid musical enthusiasts, we just want our very own to break in the international market. An opportunity she rightfully deserves given her vocal gift. ✌️ from the Philippines.
Im Filipino and i watched the third reacts on her when they were talking about her vocal health issues and i think i now know theyve seen a lot of her and i get their point that they were talkin about their vocal concerns Not about her being good or bad because obviously they adore her, but Im touched with their concern. I hope Mori sees them reactinng to her videos anf that her vocal concerns maybe helped.
Thank you so much for your kind reply! I'm sure Mori already knows more about her vocal health than we do. We're mostly making this video for people who want to sing like her, or are having vocal issues themselves. We want those people to know they're not alone and this happens to some of the best singers in the world. Thanks for watching! 😊
@@ChaseandMelia New sub to enjoy your analysis of Morissette. I would also recommend you check out another master vocalist from South Korea named Sohyang. I think you would find a ton of things to break down from her performances. Especially her cover of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' th-cam.com/video/C6iHh4yBxCo/w-d-xo.html and her EPIC performance of 'Everyone' vimeo.com/249195615 . She does all her own arrangements and, along with Morissette, is considered one of the best female vocalists on the planet.
Morissette's voice is brutal. She has a beautiful tone of all the best legendary singers like Mariah, Celine, Whitney, Cristina all in her voice and her voice fits any genre. She is more than a powerhouse. Phenomenal
Another coach explained it, a small "whistle" is created with the vocal folds and a calculated amount of air is allowed through this "whistle" not too much as it breaks the setup. Like if we whistle with our lips, too little or too much and it won't work.
It's awesome to see two vocal teachers dissect a masterpiece like this. You must've felt good doing it too. There's just a lot of things happened within this song and everything is wonderful.
I think the reason why coach melia didn't understand it's because what morisette did was a Flageolet. Flageolet is not a mechanism (not a register) that allows the vocal folds to thin out and extends the head voice/falsetto, which is vocal folds. While the whistle register is similar to whistling by mouth, but instead it creates pressure inside our larynx that produces sound without the involvement of vocal folds.
HERE WE GO with your GENUINE and EDUCATED WAY OF SPEAKING I really ENJOY how you two RESPOND and I think your comments are HONEST. I am looking FORWARD to more react videos. That guy is obviously in love with that girl and you are both incredibly GOOD LOOKING
These two are the guys I've been looking for for the longest time! I'm now a subscriber and a fan of Chase and Melia. I'm fed up with reactions from TH-camr claiming to be voice coach, and all they do is praise praise praise in the name of likes and subscribes. That sucks. As a singer, myself, I appreciate these fellas for: 1) explaining the anatomy and physiology of voice box and airway in most laymen's terms and how it is being applied in singing. Nasality, airflow, diaphragmatic breath, etc. 2) whole package of free techniques in singing dynamics 3) head tone versus chest tone explained in the easiest way possible 4) acoustic physics (I don't even know if they aware of it they are brushing through the physics of sound). They discussed resonance, pitch (frequency) For singers and those learning to sing, subscribe to their channel and you'll have fantastic advice from LEGIT SINGERS/COACHES. Thanks, Chase and Melia. You're awesome!!!
YOURE AWESOME!!!! Seriously, it really seems like you get what we’re going for. Thank you so much for all your kind words. Gaining a subscriber like you, who is actually a singer and interested in talking about the voice is worth it all!!! Thank you again for your comments and feedback! We can’t wait to talk to you more around the channel! 🙏🏼❤️
Let's see if I understand: you like these two reactors because they did not praise Morissette. But they did!! ...I don't get it... Now, analyzing and describing what she's doing is something I've seen with most reactors (the ones that describe themselves as vocal coaches and professional singers). Speculating about what could happen to any singer that tries Mariah's style could lose their voice, yes it could happen. When you excel at what you do, there are risks involved. Exceptional athletes had surgeries. Exceptional singers had surgeries and had to take special care of their voices. Morissette had surgery at 11 also.
@@rafaelmejia5988 he said all the other reactors are doing are just praising and praising just to get subscribers and likes. But these two, they call out both. Praising and calling out the errors. Naturally, the calling out the errors part will cause the hardcore fans to be defensive and offended.
@@sofiaglove all the reactors are doing the same. Everyone has their own bias (check the reactions of SoHyang in this same channel). The number of likes and subscribes has value, also. It is a matter of preference: I, personally, prefer Morissette to SoHyang. SoHyang is very good, but too much screaming for my taste.
Hi! I'm already a fan not because you are reacting on a Filipino singer but because the way you take on details, you have noticed a lot of things that I haven't thought that were there. I'm learning a lot from you guys. You just don't give praises or comoliments but you are giving your viewers a deeper understanding of the techniques, style, strategies that othera may also use or practice at home. i think you didn't start in a bad video, i think fans just being fans but you two are really great analyst, over 30 yrs of experience is a big deal and people who bashes you have no idea what they are sayin 😇 goodluck and im saying this again you didn't start in a bad video of morisette, it's just the beginning 😊 Ako po ay isang purong pilipino na tagasuporta kay morisette at nagagalak na muli kayong mapanood sa susunod niyong bidyo ( i am a pure filipino fan of morissete and i'm excited to see you both again in the next video) keep that "no filter" vibe that showcases your vocal & musical knowledge.
No idea of what theyre sayin? Oh come on..the reactions of these "bashers" are not solely because theyre fans of mori but these couple made an exaggerated comments. and these 30 years of experience of them is a combined number of years.
@@justinhuab3098 Yes the fans don't have idea what they're saying because first of all being a fan don't want to hear negativity towards their idol right? there's no other conclusion if you believe in simple logic ,if so they don't agree to what this experts criticism. No it is not just years combined it is years of experiences combine,30 years as what they claimed so don't get that context wrong, I myself studies this and i have 10 years of experience. if you come up and don't even relate to their years of experience then obviously you don't have idea what they are sayin'. simple
30 years of experience???? Yet they have no idea whether whistle tone needs more air or less air. More surprising, while one says you only need training to learn whistle tone, the other one says you either have the talent or you don’t. Make up you mind. Or better learn from the artists how whistle tone works.
She was mixing the whole time. I agree with the girl. Morisette is a great belter as you can see. And her breath control is unearthly. You should check her theatrical singing... Check out Defying Gravity since the both of you are classical singers. 👍
It's past 5:00AM here in Manila, trying to get some sleep and then this video popped out in the suggestions. Like where on Earth this channel is hiding all this time?!? How come this channel doesn't have millions of subscribers?!? Disclaimer: I am not a professional singer, do not understand techniques; those stuff that has something to do with singing. I don't think I even have a shower voice. But the thing is after having watched a ton of videos from other "vocal coaches" reacting to this video, these two are top tier! They're like Forensic Experts analysing every bit of details. They're like your favourite college professors that makes a difficult subject seems so easy to understand. Not to mention they're not the kind that would react to this to please people knowing it'll rake views. And they're gorgeous looking couple obviously. Instant subscriber here. And I wish many people would discover this channel too. More power!
You guys are exactly right... The way mori sings, i won't be surprised if she ends up like mariah.. If you listen to all the latest that she's done, you can clearly hear the deterioration of her voice.
@Juan Luna i think she is pretty aware of it. She has versions of this song in which she didn't whistle or belt that much. I think she is preserving her voice for very special occasions and recordings.
@Juan Luna that's why, while she still have the voice showcase it to the world before it's too late. When we get old we will not sound the way we sounded like when we were young and that's what all singers do, they sing with their best and make history while they still have the voice. So obviously no need to point out about losing the voice power when aging, everyone knows that. LoL
A quick suggestion for you. Wear headsets. You can hear the singing better and mori knows how to sing without hurting her voice. She’s really aware of her techniques and what she will do not to damage it. She really cautious about her throat n won’t even eat certain foods. Her idol is 30+yrs and she wants that kind of career also. Regime V.
you want a long Whistle of Morissette Amon ok react the " OH HOLY NIGHT " LIVE IN STARMALL and " I WANNA KNOW WHAT LOVE IS " LIVE IN MYX PHILIPPINES Morissette Amon
Thank you for your honest, very informative, and fair assessment and discussion of Morissette's talent. I'll continue to watch your reactions to Filipino singers....
Morissette is the same level as Mariah's when it comes to whistle tone. Watch her extended whistle of "I want to know what love is" it is a 14 second whistle with riffs and runs. Also, Mori became famous because of his easy access to her whistle tone ( with smooth and clear transition ). If you want to watch Mori live with an extremely huge audience, then I think "Asia Song Festival 2017" is a good choice. That performance is on the top phenomenal performances of Morissette. Please do check it out.
She is a great vocalist but she is not at Mariah's level when it comes to the whistle register (the agility in the register, utilization of various textures, enunciating numerous word in the register etc.)
OMG, please don’t hold back. We would want an honest reaction. Sure there’d be a little backlash from time to time but just continue with what you’re doing.
This is awesome! Love all the information and constructive criticism of her singing style/voice. Appreciate your honesty guys ❤️ More of Morissette please
Morissette whistle is a full round sounding which requires small amount of air while mariah carey in other hand her whistle is so airy that requires a big ass breath
I liked this reaction. I don't need to hear "I love them" videos. These 2 talk about how awesome she is, but also talks about the technique and looking the health of her voice box. All the other videos talk about how awesome she is. This is technically driven video. Great reaction!
I respect your reaction and analysis. Morisette is humble too and believing there's always room for improvement. :) Criticism is one of the key to success. Btw, I subscribed.
Thanks for your comment! We KNOW we have room for improvement ourselves, and we're always working to be better singers! It's not about the product, it's about the process!! Thanks for subbing and watching our video!

Queen Morissette's vocal capability is beyond human . She started singing since the age of 4. Shes now 24 and is so much better She is also a very intelligent singer. By the way she is singing healthy. We all are blessed to enjoy her performance for along time.
Don't hold back. True fans understand that critiques are important. I am a huge fan of Mori and an aspiring singer myself and a Filipino I need a very good teacher who can polish me well.
This is the official Morissette performance that gave me the thumbs up on this artist's musicianship. I love your reaction videos because you look at it through objectivity versus subjectivity. Keep at it and teach the viewers, and myself, your knowledge and interpretation of the performance. My favorite part is when you two discuss between each other your views on what Morissette is doing with her vocal. I have no idea if she's mixing 90% of the time and thats where hearing you guys pause and elaborate comes into play while also still learning something along the way as students of music.
In case you don't know, this type of singing is really very common in the Philippines that little kids are also doing it! If you wonder about this type of singing's longetivity, search for Regine Velasquez who is much like a Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston in the Philippines. She's been in the Philippine limelight since the early 80's and sings just as good as she does then. One difference could be - singing is so engrained in the Philippine culture that everyone knows that it is a gift from God and singers tend to take care of their voices as opposed maybe to consuming a lot of alcohol or substances that affects your singing. Hence, we also have another example in Lea Salonga - who sounds just as great if not better as she did when she was Miss Saigon. This is just my 2 cents of course!
I love this reaction and you know that these two really know what music is. Thanks guys. "Naririnig Mo Ba" wish bus as well is a masterpiece. That's her original too. edit: and oh this teacher(girl) just did an A6 and she's saying that she's doesn't sing with whistle. wow. Both Morissette and this girl are mutants.
Glad to see you came back for more Mori and weren't completely put off by some of the DL reaction comments. In my mind, the journey of exploration is now really beginning and your reactions continue to interest me so I hope you will continue to include Morissette in future reactions. Based on your comments in this one, you might want to do one of her Stages Sessions broadway covers fairly soon. It seemed like you might do Defying Gravity first and that is fine, but I encourage you to include She Used To Be Mine, as well. At the beginning of it, she speaks about her brief background in musical theater. She has been aware of potential vocal damage since that experience.
Thank you for the recommendations, that’s sounds like a great idea! Love that she speaks on vocal damage, we will definitely watch that to learn more about her vocal journey! Very excited to react to more of her 😊
@@ChaseandMelia Sorry, don't mean to mislead. She didn't address her vocal stress in that clip. She spoke of "learning so much from the experience," but it is on her wikipedia page where it says "she started losing her voice after performances, prompting consultation with a doctor who diagnosed her with vocal cord nodules." Then again, she would warm up for her performances by singing "Love On Top" all the way through to the highest registers, according to her co-star, Markki Stroem.
This is very informative and educational coming from these two voice coaches. I feel I learned a lot just from watching this one video. How much more can one learn if they teach you on a regular basis? Amazing. Thanks, guys. Thanks Morisette for this lovely song as well.
*Morissette Amon aka "Asia's Phoenix" from the Philippines (Lyric Soprano) is known for a vocal range that spans 5 octaves and 7 notes* *Known for her "squeaks" and intentional vocal breaks, applies them both when jumping between octaves for artistic "Mori effect"* *-> That whistle note in "Akin Ka Na Lang" Live on Wish Bus, she goes from B4 sustained note and then flipped as high as A6 (almost 2 octaves jump), F#6, G#6 and another A6 along with her 15secs long riffs and runs, and ended with a pair E6 whistle notes in the end* 🔥🔥🔥 #AsiasPhoenixRepresent🇵🇭 #QueenMorissetteAmon👑 #AkinKaNaLangOriginals🎶 #Morified🎊🎉💖👌
You were looking so genius there explaining that and those on how she's doing those vocal techniques and whatsoever but cant do like how she did it even in the slightest way😂😂😂😂😂
she's right, whistle tones are A LOT different than the normal registers like chest belting & falsetto notes because they require much less air and you basically CAN hold a long whistled phrase with like only 1/5 of a normal full breath (with good support ofc). *i know* because i sing in it everyday and it's really not as difficult & top-tier as people make it seem lol Remember singing is 90% mental, 10% talent ya'll 😂❤
I guess it's both a gift for a very few people can do whistle tone and practice with a special skill to do it, that's the key. Morissette's whistle is exceptional, only few Filipinos can do that. But Morissette's voice with or without whistle tone is Phenomenal she has a great range.😀😀😀

I know this is an old video but just in case someone stumbles upon it like I did, I kinda want to build on your point about longevity. A good example, I think, is Lea Salonga. She started singing professionally when she was 7 years old, but it wasn't until she got in Miss Saigon 10 years later that she learned that she was singing in a way that was not good for her voice. She retrained herself and fast forward to 2020 (more than 40 years after she debuted), people marvel at how she still sounds EXACTLY THE SAME. She protected her voice and now she can continue singing like a Disney princess.
She actually had nodules removed way back in her teenage years. She’s now 24. She’s also classically trained FYI and she’s done theatre as well when she was 16. 😇✨♥️💫
@@basilbalahayiii6121 i researched btw, it was submandibular tumor but thankfully it was benign. And she had nodules, she said it in an interview with Boy Abunda.

You guys talked about vocal nodules when in fact Morissette had a throat tumor at the age of 11 and vocal nodules at the age of 16 (during her theater years). She's fine now. She just turned 25 last June 2 and many had said that she's in her vocal prime now. Love this reaction video. Very genuine and informative. Keep it up!

this reaction is really informative. I went and watched the video (i didnt finish it) that you mentioned in your intro and everybody was upset lol, I think its hard to analyze her voice there because how it was recorded, all the echoes and effects. i don't even know if that was live or not. hello^-^/ thank you for the reaction! please don’t take comments that are not looking at you so favorably too serious;; you all were very polite and giving interesting critiques/discussions. as an art major i have gotten used to critiques in class which is what i see as a professional open ended discussion on a specific topic or work. basically, no worries :) if you are interested in seeing more of her raw or chest voice as you all were talking about if she was in mix or not, i would recommend to you: - Morissette - Rise Up (cover) on the Wish Bus - Morissette - Never Enough (cover) on the wish bus enjoy! ^-^ edit: most vocal coach reactions i’ve seen for morissette have begun with Rise Up and then Never Enough to which usually goes on to Akin Ka Nalang (just little reference/observation/fun fact ;))
I have watched many vocal coach reactions and they have mostly said whistle notes use very little air. There is a video of Mori doing a 28 sec whistle. Also others have stated you can either whistle or you cant. You cant train yourself to do it if your body isnt designed to do it. Great reaction by the way really breaking everything down as you go. I like it. There are many many more great Morissette videos to catch up on that will equally blow you away. Then theres Dimash Kudaibergen.... you need to hear the guy from another planet :)
She is a phenomenal singer, she is not just your typical singer that can be categorized into classical or pop. Her ways of singing is way different from other singers. She did not even have proper singing practice when she was a kid. I do believe that Filipinos has a gene that makes it different from the rest of the world and then Morisette evolved.
This is perhaps the most honest review I have ever heard of Morissette's performance. Balanced, no nonesense, no self serving, and no hint of click baiting. Just straight, honest to goodness review! If only the news media can be as balanced as you guys are! Per chance, we will never again worry about biased and fake news! Great work guys!

Hey! Got here after your first reaction video of her. In this reaction, I felt sorry that you have to say disclaimers from time to time just because people didn't understand you or took your opinions negatively. I live for reaction videos like this. Very honest. Very professional. Please keep up the good work.
She can whistle while her mouth close. That's how good our baby Mori is. 🥰
OH YEAH!!! Nobody does that even DIMASH...
Amazing that that you recognized the difference in emphasis in the pronunciation of vowels between Tagalog and English. 8:25 👍

Are you implying that they don’t know what they are talking about? They said they have 30 years of vocal experience.
@@Japskir the girl literally said she doesn't understand how the whistle came out with the flow morisette made
Thank you for featuring Morissette in your channel and I think both of you made a fair assessment.
Very briliant opinion from the two very briliant individuals.

WoW
PEOPLE WHO CANT DO WHISTLE TONE ARE VERY LUCKY... THEY HAVE THE HEALTHIEST VOCAL CHORDS IN THE UNIVERSE!
Agree
Now THAT was a comment! ☺️ thank you so much!!! ❤️
These two are the guys I've been looking for for the longest time! I'm now a subscriber and a fan of Chase and Melia.
I'm fed up with reactions from TH-camr claiming to be voice coach, and all they do is praise praise praise in the name of likes and subscribes. That sucks.
As a singer, myself, I appreciate these fellas for:
1) explaining the anatomy and physiology of voice box and airway in most laymen's terms and how it is being applied in singing. Nasality, airflow, diaphragmatic breath, etc.
2) whole package of free techniques in singing dynamics
3) head tone versus chest tone explained in the easiest way possible
4) acoustic physics (I don't even know if they aware of it they are brushing through the physics of sound). They discussed resonance, pitch (frequency)
For singers and those learning to sing, subscribe to their channel and you'll have fantastic advice from LEGIT SINGERS/COACHES.
Agree!
I love how your concerned with the vocal health of the singer. Awesome reaction!!
Hi! I'm already a fan not because you are reacting on a Filipino singer but because the way you take on details, you have noticed a lot of things that I haven't thought that were there. i think you didn't start in a bad video, i think fans just being fans but you two are really great analyst, over 30 yrs of experience is a big deal and people who bashes you have no idea what they are sayin 😇 goodluck and im saying this again you didn't start in a bad video of morisette, it's just the beginning 😊 Ako po ay isang purong pilipino na tagasuporta kay morisette at nagagalak na muli kayong mapanood sa susunod niyong bidyo ( i am a pure filipino fan of morissete and i'm excited to see you both again in the next video) keep that "no filter" vibe that showcases your vocal & musical knowledge.

Yes. This was a very bad reaction for me too. They missed out on a lot of things.
30 years of experience???? Yet they have no idea whether whistle tone needs more air or less air. More surprising, while one says you only need training to learn whistle tone, the other one says you either have the talent or you don’t. Make up you mind. Or better learn from the artists how whistle tone works.

More power!
Thank you so much! This made our day!!!
I'm sure that with practice you'll have an AMAZING shower voice!!! 😜
You guys are exactly right... The way mori sings, i won't be surprised if she ends up like mariah.. If you listen to all the latest that she's done, you can clearly hear the deterioration of her voice.
So ya'll aren't gonna talk about her 15 sec note? How she held the note from 16:45 - 17:00 ? And belted it? And it was perfect?
They noted it was a long ass phrase. Chill.
@Juan Luna jealous much 😆🤣
@Juan Luna i think she is pretty aware of it.
Regime V.

Mori has a God gifted talent. She is phenomenal :)

Regine isn't like Mariah Carey at all... Her agility, whistle, falsetto and tone are different from Mimi.
Oa

Don't get bothered by them! I LOVE YOU BOTH LEGIT!!! The way you honestly react to singers were ALL AMAZING!!! 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️

*i know* because i sing in it everyday and it's really not as difficult & top-tier as people make it seem lol
Remember singing is 90% mental, 10% talent ya'll 😂❤
