I LOVE HOW YOURE SO CAREFUL WITH MORISETTE'S GLIDING TO CHANGE REGISTERS. Glides are usually written in x's in music sheets and usually practiced to hit certain notes but not to be strictly sung. It's more like a miss around a certain note as an ornament in my experience.

I love mori. But this EP of hers is slightly disappointing. The sound is OK but the lyrics are so cheesy and corny. I really really wish her team continues elevating her music choices a bit more. She deserves better.

Thanks for featuring Morissette once again. She just launched her EP a week ago. She did live performances of all 5 on RX Monster event. Itd really different when she did them live. They were done very well because they showed Morissette's vocal versatility.
Her lower register is like BUTTAH!!!! 🧈🧈 which she loves to explore more. Her whole EP, you guys should do a review. It's all Mori in all her glory. I wonder what you will think of her performances on both 2017 and 2018 Asia's Song Festival....please do all four songs.
I Like your videos and how detailed you like to be with them. I am classically trained just like you and studied a double BA in classical music and I still take lessons till this day cause I like to keep learning and improving. I didn't started taking profesional vocal lessons till college and can change styles from classical vocal placement to ballads and pop cause I started singing pop first and I can belt normally. I love that you try to be open about styles and stylistic choices. I love morissette and one thing that I do wish you would mention more often is how solid morissettes technique is 💪. Not just breath support and musicality. Nice released jaw, neutral larynx, great support in all her range, great placement in the upper belts without bringing all the chest up, good lows, great center, specially her 4th octave, she opens, gives space and releases her belts so they won't be pushed, throaty and thin. Amazing vowel modifications, amazing dynamics and the list goes on. Of course she has many many things to work on cause No one is perfect. One thing that I will say is that I love that you are very proud of the technics that you were taught and that they work for you. But like I said before, classical and popular music thecnics are not completely the same. A few things are the same like dynamics and breath support but placement is kind of different. There's more them 1 school of music and more then 1 technic, I've taken lessons with many classical teachers and the breath support was the same and many other technical things but the vocal placement, that was a different story. We can't all use the same placement cause we have different face shapes. For example when you tried to do the same belts that mory did, you used a heady mix placement and she uses an even mix with a very well balanced chest and head mix. The vocal breaks (squeaks) are a required taste and I do like them but sometimes they can be over used, but it is still very impressive and hardly anyone can do without hurting themselves. I know you are both open but be even more open, just cause your technic works for you doesn't mean it will work with everyone. Singing is about freedom of the sound, you have to sing throughout internal sensations of your voice not with the ear, cause you can't listen to yourself the way it really sounds.
Morissette can break the rules because she's Morissette. She's so agile that she can pretty much do whatever she wants with a note and make it sound good. Thanks so much for your reaction to her songs!

Yes! She certainly has amazing control of everything concerning her voice. Same with her speaking voice. Sometimes she speaks englush with a Filipino accent. But on a stage outside of the Philippines she speaks english with no accent.
This is the first song she co-wrote. She wrote the whole 2nd verse. It originally had a different name but Morissette wanted it to be named Phoenix. She's doing interviews to promote her new 5 song EP and that's the story she told. I believe it was her interview with Danielle Marie,a fellow reactor and singer herself. I hope you can also watch her performing Panaginip on the Wish Bus. She sang it on the same recording as when she did Never Enough and Naririnig Mo Ba. Three very different songs but all really awesome haha. Panaginip is my fave because it's kind of the only dance-y song I've heard of hers and she just looks so happy there, like she was freed through song.

Sorry if you guys had to walk on eggshells the entire reaction but to give perspective on the "haters" side I guess it's just surprising to (at least from previous videos) to hear vocal doubts from vocal experts about Morissette when in contrast to several several several other vocal coaches/teachers, they could quickly tell whether something was intentional or healthy as opposed to your earlier videos. I hope this doesn't shy you guys away from future Morissette reactions ❤️
Hello, I'm not Chase or Malia (obv), but since they haven't responded to you yet, I wanted to throw in my measly two cents as someone with similar experience to them. Maybe they can come along and let me know if I was on the same wavelength or if I totally missed the point they were trying to make 🙃😊 Broadly speaking, the differences in opinion of vocal coaches/voice teachers often comes down to how they were trained and educated -- is their background classical, contemporary or both, which schools of training within those, etc. Things like intentional vocal breaks, whistle register etc. are not part of the classical/opera world that Chase and Malia are from. In fact, one of the main objectives is to AVOID vocal breaks. Contemporary/pop sort of flips that upside down and is a world where using techniques that may be forbidden in classical singing are encouraged in order to develop more texture to one's voice and style to one's singing. Vocal coaches/teachers fall at different points along the spectrum between classical and contemporary based on how they were educated/trained, and what they chose to carry with them from that as their personal philosophy on singing. So that's why you see some variance in the different reactions on here. The singers that are firmly entrenched in classical may not be as keen on vocal breaks as someone whose experience leans toward contemporary. Having been in both, I appreciate reactors who are willing to accept/embrace the differences between the two while encouraging healthy singing in both, and that is what I hear Chase and Malia doing. @@yoojin3877 well put! I think this is where the problem lies. They react to obvious pop videos with classical mindset and failing to clarify to the audience straight ahead. Instead of removing bias and complimenting how difficult the stylistic choice was, some people get enranged(?) i guess because they would show faces of disgust and topping it off with a "meh"/"not bad" towards exceptional singers. I guess it also doesn't help that there are several videos of classically trained or singers dedicated in opera that reacted to Morissette ecstatically as opposed to these reactors here. This pattern is not only seen in Morissette videos but in many of their other videos as well. I think this is why they've also started questioning their vocal knowledge in general. Just offering my two cents too ✌️

I initially thought that of Chase and Malia due to several of their older reactions, but I've been pleasantly surprised since then that they have been more objective and fair. There really is a difference when an artist sing songs they wrote for themselves compared to singing other people's songs and the musicianship comes through when they cater the arrangement to their own vocal range... and the comparison to other artist starts to fade because we now see her as Morrissette.

Singing is about freedom of the sound, you have to sing throughout internal sensations of your voice not with the ear, cause you can't listen to yourself the way it really sounds.

Yes! She certainly has amazing control of everything concerning her voice. Same with her speaking voice. Sometimes she speaks englush with a Filipino accent. But on a stage outside of the Philippines she speaks english with no accent.
This is the first song she co-wrote. She wrote the whole 2nd verse. It originally had a different name but Morissette wanted it to be named Phoenix. I hope you can also watch her performing Panaginip on the Wish Bus. She sang it on the same recording as when she did Never Enough and Naririnig Mo Ba. Three very different songs but all really awesome haha. Panaginip is my fave because it's kind of the only dance-y song I've heard of hers and she just looks so happy there, like she was freed through song.

I’m a big Mori worshipper, and I agree with you with the squeak, it was quite unfamiliar squeak this time from her and a bit out of tune yes. And I like the way we Morissette fans acknowledge it because it humanizes her. We have seen her doing flawless and unbelievable singing delivery, but also makes us more impress because after all, she’s just human.

Sorry if you guys had to walk on eggshells the entire reaction but to give perspective on the "haters" side I guess it's just surprising to (at least from previous videos) to hear vocal doubts from vocal experts about Morissette when in contrast to several several several other vocal coaches/teachers, they could quickly tell whether something was intentional or healthy as opposed to your earlier videos.
I hope this doesn't shy you guys away from future Morissette reactions ❤️
Hello, I'm not Chase or Malia (obv), but since they haven't responded to you yet, I wanted to throw in my measly two cents as someone with similar experience to them. Maybe they can come along and let me know if I was on the same wavelength or if I totally missed the point they were trying to make 🙃😊 Broadly speaking, the differences in opinion of vocal coaches/voice teachers often comes down to how they were trained and educated -- is their background classical, contemporary or both, which schools of training within those, etc.
Things like intentional vocal breaks, whistle register etc. are not part of the classical/opera world that Chase and Malia are from. In fact, one of the main objectives is to AVOID vocal breaks. Contemporary/pop sort of flips that upside down and is a world where using techniques that may be forbidden in classical singing are encouraged in order to develop more texture to one's voice and style to one's singing. Vocal coaches/teachers fall at different points along the spectrum between classical and contemporary based on how they were educated/trained, and what they chose to carry with them from that as their personal philosophy on singing.
So that's why you see some variance in the different reactions on here. The singers that are firmly entrenched in classical may not be as keen on vocal breaks as someone whose experience leans toward contemporary. Having been in both, I appreciate reactors who are willing to accept/embrace the differences between the two while encouraging healthy singing in both, and that is what I hear Chase and Malia doing.

@@yoojin3877 well put! I think this is where the problem lies. They react to obvious pop videos with classical mindset and failing to clarify to the audience straight ahead. Instead of removing bias and complimenting how difficult the stylistic choice was, some people get enranged(?) i guess because they would show faces of disgust and topping it off with a "meh"/"not bad" towards exceptional singers. I guess it also doesn't help that there are several videos of classically trained or singers dedicated in opera that reacted to Morissette ecstatically as opposed to these reactors here.
This pattern is not only seen in Morissette videos but in many of their other videos as well. I think this is why they've also started questioning their vocal knowledge in general. Just offering my two cents too ✌️

I initially thought that of Chase and Malia due to several of their older reactions, but I've been pleasantly surprised since then that they have been more objective and fair. Like I said though, I do understand why you feel the way you do, and I definitely respect your opinion! 😊✌🏻

There really is a difference when an artist sing songs they wrote for themselves compared to singing other people's songs and the musicianship comes through when they cater the arrangement to their own vocal range... and the comparison to other artist starts to fade because we now see her as Morrissette.
Don't worry we understand those opinions, others will and others won't. Hoping for another Morissette Performance. please try Love you still on wish bus too.
