Super helpful video. I have a 2013 400 HO that I replaced the thumb throttle on and when I plug in the AWD plug to the switch, it kills the engine. It runs great when it's unplugged. I'm stumped.
Great video. Maybe you can help me with my 4x4 issue. I have a 2002 Sportsman 700. I have used it very little over the last 10 years or so. Got it out and did some basic tune up on it to get it back on the road. My issue is that when i plug in the cluster to the AWD switch, the unit runs rough and sputters. If i unplug the cluster from the AWD switch, it runs perfectly. Has the original ignition system (no upgrade that was recommended for the early 700's & 600's). I am at a loss. Any advice/recommendation that you can pass along would be greatly appreciated.
i have a 05 sportsman 500 and all of the sudden 4x4 works going forward but not in reverse icon on display illumanates when hitting overide button in reverse any ideas
When in reverse with 4x4 on it will only be engaged with the override button pushed down otherwise it will be 2 Wheel drive in reverse even with the 4x4 switch on. Weird design, but it sounds like your 4x4 system is working perfectly fine!
I got a 2011 700 EFI it's running like crap in the four wheel drive is not kicking and I noticed the headlights not working too new bulb in the headlight I'm thinking I got a wiring issue there is a wire spliced in on the fuel pump and I'm wondering if that's why it's running like crap and I got no four wheel drive
I would check the wiring harness right there at the pivot point of the handlebars then along with repair the wire down at the fuel pump. If you have any check engine lights on on my older one which is a 2005 EFI If I rotate the key from on and off three times and leave it on the on position on the third one. I can check the codes so you might want to try that too.
Hello, I just bought a used 2008 Polaris Sportsman 500 and I keep blowing the 20amp fuse in the inline fuse box. It doesn’t seem to happen if I’m not in 4x4, do you think that the problem you describe in this video is the cause of my problem?
I have 2004 sportsman 500 6x6, when in reverse with AWD switch on and backing up hill, the AWD keeps going on and off, mostly off, this is when plowing my drive. Speedometer cluster will go off at same time AWD light goes out or quits working. I kind of think its a short somewhere, your thoughts?
Having this problem awd does not work in reverse. Sometimes intermittently engages. Speedometer isn't working either. Other indicators in the cluster display are working. Any thoughts?

4x4 in reverse needs the override button held to operate

You have to hold the override button for 4x4 reverse
