Wow, what a nice job of trouble shooting and documenting your approach. I love your tools, obviously this is not your first rodeo. Thanks for posting you did a fantastic job. De-soldering tool, device tester, board holder, curved soldering tip and low temp solder and flux types was very informative. Nice job.
Depending on how bad the corrosion is it is possible to repair it. I am saying in general. I don't have a repair business myself. I wish I had time. I work full time+ in an Industrial job and try to have time to edit videos to post. I try to help by posting what I have found with a repair as we learn together. I don't have a lot of time left. I do wish you the best of luck with yours.
Thanks for the very in-depth videos on this repair! Would you happen to know of a source for the LCD display? The display on the 2002 I just purchased has disintegrated from water damage, but miraculously everything else functions ok after I dried it out and cleaned it.
I sure don't. It is a few items that would be very hard to find replacements for. The LCD, microcontroller and gauge would all be hard to find without buying another unit for spare parts. I wish you the best with yours! Thanks for your kind comment.
I wish I had time, I do get asked this often. I do not have a repair service at this time. I work full time+ in a Industrial job and try to have time to edit videos to post. I try to help by posting what I have learned and sharing that best I can. Best of luck to you with yours!
