Great video as always. Very good instruction. Without looking at the result I would say a good pass mark. I am surprised the instructor let the pupil cross her hands so much when setting off in the car park. I know you are allowed to do this but I would encourage the pupil to use the push pull method. On a COVID note you are advised not to touch your mask but this instructors mask keeps slipping down and he is touching it all the time. Is his mask suitable?
One Question. are we allowed to spend more than 3 mins on Briefing ? as I noticed that this PDI spent almost 6 mins. I was reading in a group that one of the PDI failed for this reason i,e. spending more than 3 mins on briefing.
Since Covid and the 45 minute test, examiners do not want to see a briefing, this can be done beforehand. Just do a 2 to 3 minute recap to agree the goal and share responsibility’s then get moving. If you were spending too much time talking at the start, the examiner will advise you to get moving as the only way they can assess your instructional ability is to see you giving some practical instruction to fix the pupils faults (learning needs). You can fail talking at the start, but take the examiners hint if they want you to get on with it. On the other hand, if you said nothing at the start and just got your pupil to drive on you wouldn’t fail for that either. I hope this helps?
Great video I agree that the route was too easy for the pupil and I would have said something about her mirrors and signal where she signal slightly before her mirrors but as for you saying about the Instructor managing the risk regarding the sun in her eyes she did have her visor down for the whole of the lesson so I think a 9 on risk management was correct.
Sorry to hear that, it’s not easy. Pass rates are just 35%. Work with your trainer, invest time in it, study hard and practice lots. Make sure you and your trainer feel you’re ready before last attempt. An ORDIT trainer is strongly recommend to help you pass. Good luck
This looked like the kind of instruction I'm learning towards...Great video Howard and many thanks to both pupil and instructor..I learnt a lot from this video 👍
i woud have thought saying to the pupil were going left at the roundabout , just as they approaqch a left turn, would have been a misleading instruction, i would have said at the roundabout i would like you to go left, 1st exit. also the lady was squinting at one point as the sun was straight into her eyes,807 onwards,
He didn't ever say at the roundabout I would like you to turn left, first exit, at the roundabout I would like you like you to turn right 3rd exit etc. He would just say we are turning right, we'll turn left at the next roundabout. I thought the instructions and directions had to follow this exact format.
Great video demonstration, but without looking at the results from Howard I can already tell that he will pick up on the learner rushing the roundabouts too often and without having a final look. I Noticed 2 occasions with the audi and another car which was rather close

Thank you Howard Alert: at roundabout I’d like you to....... Direct: take the road leading off to the right.... Identify: that is the left exit .. Because by not alert in good time you may make the pupils to act different way they may turning suddenly .... thanks Howard for your time to put this lovely videos

May have “set the scene “ at start of lesson about low sun and glare both through windscreen and on the road, how high trees can create a dapple/flashing effect with the sunlight which can affect vision. Still great video and feedback from you Howard.
How difficult is it to give positive feedback? As potential trainers, just think how your feedback lands with the recipient. I find being constructive but honest works best, you should try it?

Didn't think instructors were allowed to use their sun visor as it blocks their rear view mirror?
