Hey, Thanks! That particular set-up won't work for my own single stage electric snowblower, but it has given me an idea! I'll take some aluminum bar flat stock and cut out 4 pieces, drill the holes to bolt them together and pinch the lip of the bottom sides of the snowblower together tightly with the bolts so that they can't fall off and then try that on my gravel driveway. I'll use a flat washer on one side and a lock washer on the other side. I may even add some JBWeld where they'll pinch the snowblower to help prevent slipping off. Of course I'll grind the curves into the bars so they'll glide like the wood. Yean, it may make the belt impossible to change afterwards but if it works through this winter, then next year I'll replace it with a gas 2 stage and use your wood idea :D

Good tech tip. Gravel driveways and snowblowers usually don't get along.

If you can deal with an inch of snow this is perfect Thanks for watching

I was desperate to find something after failing with the high dollar plastic ones. Thanks for watching

Great idea! Looking to knock down the center of tracks the truck makes to get a sedan out.

How can the piece of wood on the scraper edge make any difference? The piece of wood now becomes the scraper. It will still push the gravel and once it piles up higher than the piece of wood it will be sucked into the impeller.
Increasing the height on the side skids is the only option that will work. The hope is the gravel will then go under the skid and only snow deeper than the clearance provided by the skids will get into the impeller.
I have not read the comments but I won’t be surprised if others have already pointed this out.

The piece of wood on the skid is just holding the snow blower up 1 inch so the skids can be marked for the holes. Its not attached.

if you even took some more time to watch the whole 7 minute video you can see at 5:19, the temporary wood platform isn't there anymore while the wooden skid shoes were in use.

Use steel and you won't need to make them so often.
