  • It’s time for another durability test! This time we are gonna park my truck on top of the Sonim for over 1 hour to see what happens. Some things ended up broken! Find out what by watching! If you're into rugged phones you will like this. Ive got plenty of other Sonim devices that have been tested beyond all limits.

    Ive had the xp8 for over two years and I have loved it. I got this XP10 in the mail tough. pretty excited. One thing I have heard people say that audio through the usbc port in the xp8 dont work. But I have headphones with an usbc adapter and it works great for me.

      The XP8 was a good phone. I’m sure you will definitely enjoy the XP10 though!

    Im slowly watching this device and am interested in moving into it from a S10+. But I love my OLED displays, and am so used to it as it never leaves my side for 3 years already. But this video, although t simple, shows some strengths for sure. no pun.

    Meanwhile a iPhone breaks after a cat sleeps on it. Soft fur and light cat.

      The newer iPhones are fairly strong but I definitely wouldn’t do this. This Sonim phone is just on its own level really.

    Had the xp8 for years it's amazing. I left it on the hood of the car not 1 but 3 times lol. Had it fly off going 120km/hr and it survived it all. Eventually I broke the charging port inside. I miss the magnetic port on the xp6

    • @Scrammy18
      @Scrammy18  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the magnetic attachment was pretty nice!

      You could charge it with certain things.

    I've had this phone for about a year now and the only gripe I really have with it is the poor camera quality. If I want to take a decent photo I always find myself digging my old LG G5 out.

    • @Scrammy18
      @Scrammy18  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah Sonim has never really had good cameras

    Did the speakers recover or are they toast?

    • @Scrammy18
      @Scrammy18  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They never fully recovered. Like they work better but I think something got into the speaker grille. When you crank it to full volume they sound clogged up a bit. I smacked it around and washed it a bit but I don’t know exactly why they are acting like that. I haven’t given up on it though because it has been getting better. Just strange. That was not the thing I thought would be effected lol. Everything else still looks and works great. Still looks new. Maybe the speakers just happened to blow out at that moment. It doesn’t effect phone calls either.

      Somewhere in Sonim, a tech is looking into how to prevent this in a revision....

    • @Scrammy18
      @Scrammy18  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You know it. It’s also possible it’s just a fluke as well. Never had speakers on a Sonim quit from a crushing force. I mean who knows. That’s why I test it!

    Can you tell me, the indicator light at the top, what is the main use? Can it be configured for use with notifications? like the old Samsungs. And like I do now with "AOD Notify". Or is it for charging only? I really need that to be for notifications too.
    thanks

    • @Scrammy18
      @Scrammy18  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It can be configured to display what you want. By default it’s for notifications. The phone does not have an always on display.

    I would be interested in a side by side of the xp8 amd the xp10 i have several updates like the desk charger and the car charger also the adapter to connect a wired headset to the xp8 wonder what all will work or need adaptions.... Im good

      The ports are identical just the phones being slightly different in size to one another is the only significant difference.

      @@Scrammy18 OK, I might then do the update. I have the desk charger so I won't use the usb door and the vehicle charger for holding it. The shape is different but a Dremel will fix that in quick order... Thanks. OH I also show your videos to others when I introduce the phone. It is a truly amazing device. In my work I needed something that could survive being dropped.

    I know you want to keep your phone but the best test is the screen down on the floor but myself I don't test it screen down on the floor because I ate the speed but he can last long but the 7700 is the best of all and never been better it's small tough and the battery last after 8 years he can Last 5 days on standby yes 8 years but I don't know if the battery is a new one when I buy it used . But my xp10 is bad the same battery with the xp7700 2014 phone that is the reason I ate it he don't put a better battery and he can have better option and the real physic button like xp8 and 7 don't exist anymore but the touch screen is good but the 7700 is better.

    I work outside for a living in all weather environments. The is phone is as strong as they say, but man is it glitchy.
    Issues I have had.
    No sim card.
    when I unlock screen nothing is there.
    Random restarts.
    Still love the phone, and hope they have an update to help.
    If you or anyone out there has a fix for these issues, Please share.
