My morning coffee wasn't even 680ml. I sure enjoyed it, watching this. Glad to see pros and cons to certain products and the variety in your space. Looking forward to the new shelf install video.
BH products are affordable in the UK and until recently unsurpassed in quality and value. A recent newcomer in the form of Garage Therapy One Snow Foam in my opinion has knocked BH off the top of the snow foam game.
I will admit the cleaning power of the Auto-Foam is impressive, but when people tout its economic benefits, I start to question my own math abilities. At 680mL per wash, I am going to get seven washes out of the 5L jug. That is easily 10 times more product than any of my other foaming soaps. I get I am supposed to get more than a single wash out of a full cannon, but I didn't go crazy with the foam and I ended up emptying the entire cannon on this wash. So, I just don't really understand where the "economy" point is coming from.
@@RADGarage you've just proven it's not a cost effective option to use. It may work well but for us enthusiasts we are always looking for the most cost effective option.
I really enjoy this channel. As an actual Audi Q5 owner I learn a lot about taking care of my vehicle. I spent 4 hours yesterday myself in car detailing my car. Keep up the great work!👍🏽
Thanks. I'm sure to some the appearance of a product is not important, but I love this hobby for many reasons, and the aesthetics are a big part of that enjoyment.
HI Rick! Another very interesting video. I like Wayne was having my morning coffee when I checked TH-cam and noticed you had posted a new video. I was anxious to see how you were making out with the Bilt Hamber 4% dilution ratio and you nailed it. It certainly appeared to do a great job as lots of dirty foam ran down your vehicle. Keep up the great work, the time and effort to produce such a high quality video is appreciate!
It looked like vanilla and chocolate "swirl" ice cream streaming down the body panels. After the pressure rinse, the car was clean. The bucket wash was just the icing on the cake.
Hi Rick, without a doubt, this is a RAD video with a quality that is definitely worthy of Hollywood 😄 .your work is perfect, putting together music and videography at 1000% quality level. Stay strong, stay RAD 💪🇵🇹
Beautiful work as always. The BH did an excellent job of cleaning the vehicle but the cost per wash is on the expensive side. The detail firm products look really nice and enjoyable to work with. Thank you for the best production yet again.
You are more than welcome, Neil. I am still not convinced I am doing the BH dilution rate calculations correctly. A viewer recently said I now need to divide 680 by 17 to get the actual amount of shampoo required. I didn't read it like that. At any rate, I'm going to play around with some other foaming shampoos, including Exterior Lather by Detail Firm which is fastly becoming a favourite. Thanks, as always, for the support and feedback. It is appreciated.
Love all the products used here. I’m not smart enough to use the auto foam, but I’ve gotta try some detail firm when I run out of my current stuff. Sweet video.
It's just a vicious cycle of cold and snow then comes a mild stretch of weather that melts it all. We are constantly driving on wet, mucky roads and the overspray is full of the salt chemical they use to de-ice the roads. Constant battle. The BH is good stuff, but way too finicky to ration. Using 680mL per wash seems like overkill. Not sure what is going on there.
I truley deeply Love your videos! Got them on notifications now. You are my biggest inspiration to have stepped up my detailing skills on cars. One day i hope to be able to have a garage like yours, it looks amazing! Can't wait for another RAD video❤️
That is awesome to hear. I have put a lot of work into the garage and it has become an inspiration to me too because it just makes caring for my car so easy and enjoyable. It is my oasis. 🏝
Rick, glad you had another play with the BH Foam, and sure once youve got the right combo, it well eat through your canadian road salt and grime, but just dont mess with your settings once youve got it just so. glad also that your UK and european viewers were able to help you a bit Detail Firm ... now that looks classy stuff, as you say though far too sexy to hide away in a cupboard somewhere
There's no denying the effectiveness of the BH A-F. It ate through the dirt like a hot knife through butter. I think I will tone the amount down to an even 500ml in the future and I am sure that will be the right amount. At that rate, I will get 10 usages out of the 5L jug. The Detail Firm products work as good as they look.
Excellent, Rick! So relaxing, as always! And I'm with you on that BH Auto Foam. It looks like a fine product, but if I have to use that much of it, I think it would be a hard "no" from me. There are just too many other good products out there that give similar results. Plus, it's way to complicated for my pea brain... 😊
It has been an interesting experiment for sure. I like it for the simple fact it ATE through the winter salt and grime with no problem. But, I have other foam shampoos that do the same with way less product required. The Fireball Snow Foam comes to mind. It's fun to play around with new stuff. That's what I like the most about this hobby. Thanks for staying tuned!
Crazy as usual 😬😉 Rick i don t know how much Time you need for editing your awesome vidéos 👍🏻 A great relax ING moment when i Watch Keep pushing 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Just getting a chance to watch this one. I'm assuming you have a base layer of ceramic on your Audi? If so what is on it? Great Livestream last night by the way. Have a great week.
I do. I have a layer of Gyeon MOHS but it is starting to show its age. I am just going to experiment with stuff for the next few months since I will be polishing off the MOHS here pretty soon. I am contemplating having the SQ5 completed wrapped in new PPF. Tip to toe. I need the protection from the elements.
@@RADGarage I understand, winters are hard on a vehicle. It's especially bad on us who want to keep a car show shine 24/7😎. Great live stream with Renny Doyle by the way.
Yes it sounds absurd but you are correct with the PIR calculations, for me it’s 12300 ml x 0.04% = 492 ml per litre. I find the ratio of 0.02/0.03% works well for a semi dirty vehicle so that’s somewhere around 300ml per litre. Bilt hamber auto foam is known not to be as thick as other brands but still gives good results, so I guess it’s up to everyone what they like. Great video again I always enjoy watching 👍
I'm perfectly fine with the consistency of the foam I was able to get with the 680/320 mixture. I might dial the foam back to 500ml for those washes where the car isn't extremely caked in road salt and dirt. I find the Fireball and BHAF are comparable in their results, the much less Fireball Snow Foam is required.
@@RADGarage yes I took note of your video with the red rs5 and fireball products, I’m yet to try them out but definitely on my to do list! I agree where you are from the cars take more of a hammering from the weather so more product required is definitely understandable 👍
I like having lots of options on hand, just to keep things from becoming too routine. The BH has been a lot of fun getting to know and I will definitely be using it on a more regular basis.
Another excellent video, Rick, thanks for sharing. 680 ml of product does seem a bit extreme, though I have heard that the BH auto wash does not produce the shaving cream consistency of other soaps. Thanks for the therapy session (the SQ5 looks great, by the way, looks like the coating is holding up really well!), and you should definitely set up a display shelf for the DF products, love those labels!
Thanks Clint. I have the DF bottles displayed prominently int he garage and I just love their vibe. I am going to shift to a few other shampoos in upcoming projects just to see how effectively they cut through the crusty layer of salt that my car seems to be permanently coated with!
Hi Rick! How are your roads treated? Is such delicate shampoo working with dirties? In our country such shampoo works not so good as hard reagents. You did good job!
We do not add the oily chemical agent I know they do in some countries. The roads are "pickled" with a mixture of salt and gravel. It is hideous, but I seem to be able to remove it effectively with a variety of soaps in my current arsenal.
The detail firm leather conditioner is awesome. The only other thing I have from them is the tire and trim gel but haven’t got to try it yet bc I’m still using jax wax’s
You will love the T&TC from Detail Firm. I am looking forward to doing a full Spring interior detail once we are out of the snowy, salty mess we find ourselves in at present.
Since I've found the channel, I really enjoy just sitting back, watching and listening. I have a few questions, why tuxmats? what is the small wash mitt you use on your wheels? Thanks for such great vidoes!
Glad to have you on board (Be sure to subscribe if you haven't already done so!). I had given up on aftermarket floor liners. In my previous SQ5 I experimented with WeatherTechs, Husky's and 3D Maxspiders and they all disappointed me. I was resigned to using the OEM Audi rubber winter mats in this SQ5 and survived for four winters until the team at Tuxmat reached out to see if I would be interested in trying their mats. I was skeptical, but they are phenomenal. They are far superior in fit, material and overall use than any of the other brands I have tried over the years. It has been a really nice addition to my interior. The wash mitt you see being used on the wheel faces is a Detail Popo wash mitt that I cut in halves. I linked it in the description. Not easy to find unless you are in Canada. Take care!
EDIT: Just noticed I didn't have enough space in the video description to leave the wheel mitt link. Here it is: ➤Mini Popo Microfiber Wheel Mitt tinyurl.com/zs3sxku8
@@RADGarage thanks Rick. In the RS3 I have the Audi rubber mats and having the mean winters off the lake in NY, definitely looking to try something new. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Always trying to learn something new!
Thank you for an informative video and the seeing how these products preform. I noticed the flooring you have in your garage. Can you tell me the type of floor and how well it has been doing? Thanks again
I'm always excited to share the projects I take on when I have the time. The floor is by Swisstrax. Here's a video that really explains how this floor works for my purposes: th-cam.com/video/kFdfzO-9o7I/w-d-xo.html
Another awesome video BH sure has the cleaning power down great product for the winter months just ripped that salt and junk right off super impressed. Hope all is well in the Rad house hold. 👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦
That's an accurate way of describing it. "Ripped the salt and junk right off". Indeed, it did. Everything is going pretty good over here. Hope the same is true for you, Ken. 🤘
Slightly better, but given I used 4 or 5 times more BH, I would HOPE it did a better job! LOL I am loving Fireball Snow Foam and Detail Firm Exterior Lather the most at the moment.
Devide the 680 by 17 and that gives you 40ml in 1litre of water . Happy washing. Like I said before I use 50 ml . Sorry I keep amending lol. It would be 680 ml in 17 litres of you were pre mixing .
Wow! What a great Saturday morning. I just finished my first morning coffee and watched Pan apply ceramic coating to a Polestar and my notification bell rings again and I notice it’s Rick. Awesome! Another cup of coffee and back to my favourite chair. Thanks Rick, pretty terrible day here on the Rock but your videos help me shut that out. And yes, 680ml is a lot of foam solution to add to your cannon. Be easy to put the lance on the 4L jug. 😂😂
Thankfully it is a 5L jug! Glad to be a part of your weekend morning. I wish I had more time to see what my friend Pan is up to over there in MTL, but I have a busy Saturday ahead of me. Take care!
Thanks for the sub! I am a huge fan of the CarPro Merino Wool wash mitt. I have been using it regularly for years now and I just love it. Some people have complained of theirs losing fibres, but for some reason, I have never had that. Once in a while I will get a bit of shedding on a really sharp edge of an emblem, but it has been a solid performer for me.
Percect job as always, but I have one question, don´t you plan dechrome whole car? Black front grill is in strong contrast with chrome frame. I did it on my 2013 A6 and it looks perfect. Greetings from Slovakia
I hear what you are saying. I am considering doing something to alter the overall appearance, but just need to make up. my mind. I'm hoping it happens this Spring.
That is definitely a crazy amount of soap buddy! I thought 150ML of GSF was much and actually plan on reducing that to around 4oz the next time I do a foam bath. So how do those Proper brushes compare to Detail Factory? I'm always looking for alternatives and share your love of having more than one brush for fun! I am really loving your drying technique with the smaller Guantlet towel while using the air blaster and will definitely help improve my drying time. It's crunch time over here, apparently Matt from OG will be in town here in a few weeks so I am gonna try and do a quick detail on my summer car, which usually doesn't leave the garage until summer. By the way I ordered a shirt and it came this last week and looks pretty RAD man, thank you!
I am not entirely sure if I have ever used Detail Factory brushes, and if I have, I don't really have any recollection to give an opinion. I am LOVING the Proper Detailing brushes to be honest. I think the boar's hair are my least favourite of the set, but they are all solid performers. I love getting my cars bone dry after a wash and the mini Gauntlet used in conjunction with the Master Blaster ensures that. What is Matt doing in your neck of the woods? Do me a favour, and if you get the chance to chat with him, tell him Rick from "The Heartland" says Hi! 🤘
@@RADGarage Thats epic man, I'll let him know hopefully. Apparently someone in North Idaho won his Garage Pressure Washer Giveaway and he's flying into town here to set one up for the guy. From a quality and build standpoint the Proper and Detail Factory brushes look very similar and perform similarly (check out Pans video from way back in 2018 for information on them). Their ultra soft brushes are my favorite from interior cleaning to exterior emblems. I have to say I love your attention to detail in window and other exterior crevices where our wash pads/mitts cannot clean.
Hi Rick ! That was hell of a pure video ! So glad to see the "Radmobile" back to its best shape 😊 I can easily guess this maintenance wash took an entire weekend due to the filth and uncommon salty roads you guys have ! It seems Bilt Hamber foam did its job but man 680ml soap per liter, that's a lot ! Could be interesting to calculate the cost per foam pre-wash ! We have had some frozen mornings here also which means I will have to do a nice maintenance wash on the A5. I fully agree with you about wax and ceramic coatings but as far as I knox, Gyeon Wet Coat could have been a nice spray on rince off topper, couldn't it ? Anyways, everybody is free to choose his own prefered process. I had a quick view on new Gyeon Q2M products and they look like keeping their promises 👌🏻! We will have to stay tuned to know ! Stay RAD ! Gregg
Hopefully your weather will begin cooperating so you can give your A5 some love and attention. I will continue to figure out the right mixture ratio for the AF but I have a few more products to play with in the meantime. See you on the next one, Gregg!
Thanks D&D. I enjoyed working with all of these products. I don't often apply spray waxes, so I don't know if that GBRX Spray Wax will see a lot of action, but I will definitely be reaching for everything else featured in this project. I am going to play around with some of my other foam shampoos and give the BHAF a rest. I'm interested to see how some of the other ones (Lift, Gyeon Foam, etc) cope with the amount of salt and dirt I am currently dealing with up here.
@@RADGarage Great to hear. I don't live in the same type of environments that you have, but I do enjoy hearing your thoughts on all the different products you use! Stay warm.
Very nice work and video! It’s interesting that on ceramic coated car you drop spray wax. And I want to try detail firm products, but there are no sellers of it. 😁
Yeah, I mentioned the spray wax atop the coating issue in the video description. I am at a point where I am just going to experiment with the toppers because the coating is slated for removal here in the next little while. It has been two years which is my new personal record!
@@RADGarage two years is good result enough. But spray wax I think won’t be able to live about 2 weeks. In Russia it’s about 1 week in winter, 2 weeks in summer. I want to coat gyeon wax on top of adams graphene ceramic coating. Someone say that carnauba wax on top of ceramic coatings prevents water spots
Enjoyed the vid, RAD! How would you compare the degreaser from DF to other degreasers/APCs from Gyeon, KCx, Adam’s, etc? Also curious to know your thoughts of BH AF after adding 680mL to your foam canon. Thanks!
The results speak for themselves. All of the products used helped me attain amazing results. The Degreaser is mild but effective, but I am holding out hope DF launches a dedicated wheel and tire cleaner that lathers up a bit more. I like a lot of lather on the wheels and tires. The Auto-Foam is a hard-working soap that eats the dirt off the car with ease. After the pressure rinse, that car was 99% clean but I did the mitt wash anyway. It wasn't really necessary!
Great RAD video! Detail Firm bottles are definitely beautiful. Was told in the past that using spray wax and wax containing products in general clog ceramic coatings? Any truth to that you think?
Thanks for watching. As for your comment regarding the spray wax, I did address that in the video description. The current coating is slated for removal here in the next few months so I don’t mind experimenting a bit. I’ll be applying Gyeon Pure here in the early Spring.
@@RADGarage Sorry about that Rick, I should of expanded the Video Description area. 🤦🏻♂️. Can’t wait to see the removal of the current coating and the application of Gyeon Pure in the future.
How come you used the pressure washer for the contactless wash but the hose pipe with that shower head thing for the wash down after the contact wash ????
Funny just as i came to that point in the video i came across this comment. I never really thought about it but it does make sense. He’s got a good pressure washer system… but i see videos with people using crappy PW’s with low GPM .. and taking a hour to rinse the car off. Using the hose maximizes GPM giving a quicker rinse. No need for the PW at that point in the wash.
Hi Rick, always love the content! 320 mL sounds like an awful lot of product to me. I would love to hear your thoughts after using that compared to the first time before you did all the calculations. I use 3 to 4 ounces of Adams Mega Foam and get amazing foam.
I used 5 times more Auto-Foam this wash than the previous one. I will say, it cuts through the dirt and salt like nobody's business, and when I pressured washed the car, it was virtually clean. I'm just not sure I have the right ratio given all the various factors required to calculate it. But, it works and it is not the only foam shampoo I have in my arsenal. I look forward to playing with some others in upcoming projects. Mega is always enjoyable and satisfying to work with.
17 liters to empty the canister is insane. Did you have the setting on minimum product use? With a Karcher K5, and a normal/generic foam canon, and the adjuster knob set to medium / middle. The K5 ends up at 8 liters of water to empty the canister with 1000 ml of water. So for the K5 and a very generic canon, the product needed for a 4% PIR would be 320 ml. And just remember that this applies to all products that require a 4% PIR, and not just the Auto Foam :)
I hear ya. I did not use 17L of water to empty the foam cannon when I actually foamed the car, so I don't know what is going on there. My 5-gallon wash bucket was almost completely full when I tested. I'll be honest, it is becoming more of a PITA than it is worth so I might just use a random amount and see what works.
Too much foam for me staying with adams foam and gsf foam easy to put in and very little to use. Good to know Thanks for your videos And thanks to keep us inform.
It has definitely been interesting getting to know the ins and outs of the Bilt Hamber. I am being told that I am using too much foam when I do my pre-wash stage, but I feel like I was actually going quite easy this time. Just goes to prove, there's no one way that will please everyone. Thanks for tuning in!
Что касается щеток, которые я использую, я уверен, что использование их во время пребывания пены является наиболее эффективным способом удаления затвердевшей грязи. Спасибо за просмотр.
The undercarriage on the SQ5 is very well protected with plastic panels. I don't stress too much about it under there, but I do have a water broom that I use in the Spring. That detail will be epic.
Not in love with it. It works like a charm, but I feel like I need to use quite a bit of it to get a bit of lather going which I always like when working on wheels.
Damn 680ml you could just use it undiluted it wouldn't make that much of a difference. And even for a dilution like that it came out looking watery still, Adams Mega Foam would beat it with 100ml dilution. With all those dirty winter washes do you have a way of cleaning the underside of the SQ5?
You are correct. ALL of my other foaming soaps would require way less concentration in the cannon, but the cleaning power of the Auto-Foam is pretty darn effective. Is it effective enough over the others to justify the amount....I'm not so sure. I think at this point, I like the Fireball Snow Foam the most of all the foams I have. I do have a water broom attachment for my pressure washer to get to the underside, but it is so well protected with plastic panels, there's just no need during the winter. Kind of a waste of water at this point. Thanks for the observations, questions and continued support!
@@RADGarage You can always count on me watching and enjoying your content. As of the cleaning effect I'd really like to see you try out Carpro Lift on one of your next dirty winter washes if you can get your hands on a bottle
The simple answer is convenience. The weather doesn’t permit outside washing many months of the year. Inside, I have everything I need at my fingertips and it is a totally comfortable and efficient process. Thanks for the question. Learn more at: www.radgarage.ca
@@pspbasti1 I have perfected the process so nothing gets damaged by water. Occasionally, some water splashes back and hit the inside of the garage door but I just towel that off no problem.
Another great video Rick, thank you! I wanted to ask - during your foam wash stage, when you're brush-detailing the nooks and crannies around windows/badges/etc, you have a bottle of something you're spraying as you go along. What's in the bottle? Thanks as always for the inspiration!
I don't understand why some channels rave about autofoam being the best and most cost effective. You basically need a full foam cannon of the stuff. I'd much rather use Koch Chemie Active Foam with 100ml aka less than 1% PIR for most high flowing pressure washers (as recommended) which is ph 9.5 but 7.5 when diluted through the cannon yet cleans well or if someone wants a high alkaline and super strong cleaning power super foam (ph12).
I'm still trying to wrap my head around that too. The only place I think I could have gone wrong in my calculations was with the amount of water that was required to completely drain my foam cannon. I was shooting the water directly into my 5-gallon wash bucket but in order to do so, I had to angle the cannon down into the bucket and I am wondering if that somehow impacted the volume of water required. At any rate, I am moving on to other foams for the time being. I have never tried KC Active Foam, only the GSF. I should give that a try if I can get my hands on some.
@@RADGarage I've calculated the amount of water it takes to empty my foam cannon and I also found I'd need almost a full cannon in order to use it at the recommended PIR% which just seems comical. Definitely give AF a try if you can get some, it's way more economical than GSF and you only need it 10:1 to a foam cannon for moderately flowing pressure washers. I think super foam might be more comparable to BH autofoam however as active foam is a mild snow foam and not super high pH.
in response to the bilt hamber foam wash. Your dilution is correct however it's clear that their soap is NOT concentrated enough with the proper detergents/foam agents to create the shaving cream foam we need for the prewash. Better this time, but not an improvement
It was a lot of product for sure. I'm going to dial it back to 500ml on the next one and see how that goes. I am kind of enjoying the experimenting. Truth be told, I have so many awesome snow foams so this isn't a crucial issue for me.
I just use bh auto foam in a pump sprayer, works fine. I would say you are over-applying the foam, spraying 2-3 coats, last 2 just runoff, its not a shaving cream foam that does nothing, its a cleaning foam
Once again, fantastic work! Your paint is still looking great. If I had to used that much foam everytime (which did a good job) I'd go broke buying foam. I very much appreciate how you present products, it makes it very easy to choose which brand to go with. I'm still waiting on your garage sale btw.
The garage sale is still a ways away! If I dial the concentration rate back to 500mL, I will get 10 washes out of a 5L jug which is still WAY more product than any of my other foam options. Who knows, by the time I get to the end of the jug, I might be completely in love with BH or ready to move on to any of the other foam soaps I have in the arsenal. Time will tell...
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it millions times more the whole PiR is stupid and wasteful. Every other company is 10:1 on average for excellent result. BH is crazy for their ratios needing to be so high. 0.68l of product is nuts. Anything over 1:1 ratio is nuts. It’s almost just straight product. /rant over. Awesome video my friend.
If I was 100% confident in my calculations/testing I would concur, but I just feel like something is messed up in the way I went about the process. I just don't know where I messed up. 680mL is a lot and people are saying I used too much during the foam process, I should have been able to get 3-4 washes out of one 1L canister, which I just can't wrap my head around. I admit I like to layer the foam on thick, but there's no way I could have covered the car with only 1/4-1/3 of the cannon being used. No way.
Great video as always Rick. I live in Norway with the same brutal driving conditions as you, and i also use BH and other strong alkaline pre washes. For the time being i use pure BH in my MTM foam lance and adjust the mixture from 0,5% - 5% by using the screw on the top. Great product👌🏻
I guess that is the logical next step, playing around with the settings on my foam cannon. I just have become so accustomed to the current settings I don't want to mess with it too much. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
I’ll be honest, I watched the parts relating to Bilt Hamber following your last video (I’ll watch the whole video in full later)….firstly, you have the calculation correct, 680ml. That will never change unless you change your foam cannon or pressure washer. BUT..and this is the key to Auto foam, you are not meant to use the whole cannon in one go! At most, you should use about 200/250ml of the cannon per wash. That’s how it lasts. It’s a hard concept to grasp and I struggled first time around but once you get used to it, you see the benefits. If you want to empty the cannon each time then I guess AF will not work with your washing style, which is no biggie, different strokes for different folks 👍🏼 It’s as good as everyone says it is if used right.
@LND81. Can you please explain why using a little foam (220/250ml) has a better result than using a lot of foam? I can’t grasp the concept, I would think more is bettter!
@@ratton5028 yeah it’s a difficult one to grasp but that’s how auto foam was designed. It’s not designed to be a thick foam, it’s supposed to be a thin wet foam, a bit more runny. That’s why you don’t need a lot, you only need to wet the car for AF to work it’s magic. Thick foam doesn’t actually clean as much, more foam doesn’t equal more cleaning, you’re just wasting a lot of product. Same with washing, foam and bubbles don’t equal cleaning power. I put a link to a TH-cam video (on Ricks previous video) that shows how much should be applied. It’s a lot less then people realise and that’s how 5L can go such a long way. Hope that helps.
I emptied the full cannon to cover the car, but I understand that I should dial back the amount of foam that gets applied to the car. That will be tough for me.
Aswell with Autofoam normally with your 'standard' foams you spray the car very slowly ensuring even coverage. With Autofoam I find you just spray the car with 2/3 passes depending on the size of the car. 5/6 seconds just cover the side of the car. That's how you use so little product. I can get 4/5 cars out of full foam cannon of AutoFoam. It's actually incredible when you get your process and settings dialed in.
Pretty sure using 680 ml of any Similar type of soap will get you the same results lol. Actually. More effective to add a bit of apc to any soap to be even better.
It makes me laugh how no matter how filthy the sides of a vehicle are, multiply it by 10 and that is how bad the boot will be. Every SUV and van are the exact same. Hatchbacks too.
@@RADGarage duder, I had a customer that someone did that with a pointed object. I did some hand paint correction, but it only went so far. I didn’t have touch up paint. Another customer had a similar drawing in dust experience, but it isn’t family friendly.
I have given it my best shot, but I still feel like I am messing something up when it comes to calculating the ratio. At any rate, I have a tonne of other foam shampoos to use so I will put the BH on pause. Thanks for watching though!
You're saying it. Not me. I don't see the resemblance in presentation at all tbh. I'd love to try some AMMO products but way too expensive for import to Canada.
I tend to agree with you. I am not convinced I have done the calculations correctly. I feel like I have missed a step or something. At any rate, I'm putting the BH on pause for now. I have lots of other shampoos to play around with. I think CarPro Lift is up next. I used Detail Firm's Exterior Lather in the cannon as well as the bucket this past weekend on a dealership loaner vehicle. That video comes out Saturday morning. 🤘
I am satisfied with the performance of the Auto-Foam. I think I need to adjust the amount of foam I use if there's any chance of making it more economical. At this rate, the 5L jug will provide me with 8-9 washes at $50 CAD.
The fact you answered every single comment is incredible. Thanks for the great content!

Thank you very much! I appreciate your kind words and support!
I love the fact that people will seemingly always find a way to make things work. I have yet to find a pump sprayer that will give me quality foam.
I gotta have foam. Just go to.
Always beautiful imagery. It’s obvious you LOVE this car and the process…..
True and true! Thanks for watching Cynthia. 🙏
I really enjoy this channel. As an actual Audi Q5 owner I learn a lot about taking care of my vehicle. I spent 4 hours yesterday myself in car detailing my car. Keep up the great work!👍🏽
Great to hear! They are such great all-around vehicles so they deserve a little extra love and attention!
Another excellent vid Rick. Cheers! Car is looking great. Those bottles look great.
Thanks. I'm sure to some the appearance of a product is not important, but I love this hobby for many reasons, and the aesthetics are a big part of that enjoyment.
The weekend continues, from Pam to Rad!
Canadian content 💯
Brother, your content is phenomenal. Always looking forward to your next.
I appreciate that! I try my best.
Hi yes I live in the UK and as a rule of thumb BH Auto Foam at 4% PIR is about 60%. As a rule normally find a 50% ratio works fine.
I have never had so many factors to consider when using a foaming soap! 🤔
Hi Rick, without a doubt, this is a RAD video with a quality that is definitely worthy of Hollywood 😄 .your work is perfect, putting together music and videography at 1000% quality level. Stay strong, stay RAD 💪🇵🇹
Thanks Henrique. Making these videos keeps the process of maintaining my car less routine. I'm glad people enjoy them. Take care, my friend.
This music is so soothing!! I love my Marino wool car mitt❤
Oh, I am glad to hear you like the mitt. I find it luxurious and so easy to work with. The music definitely adds to the detailing experience, for me.
A great start to the weekend!
I'm happy to be a part of your great weekend!

@@RADGarage I almost always do.

@@RADGarage Very easily.
Love all the products used here. I’m not smart enough to use the auto foam, but I’ve gotta try some detail firm when I run out of my current stuff. Sweet video.
I'm STILL trying to figure out the BH thing. The Detail Firm product line is like the Rolls Royce of the detailing industry.
Hi Rick another RAD Production. Not sure about the foam. Love the new format. Um still amazed at how u don't cover your garage in foam and water.
Lots of practice!
Another great transformation Rick, your driving conditions must be brutal, although complicated the results from the bilt hamber looked amazing.
Rick, glad you had another play with the BH Foam, and sure once youve got the right combo, it well eat through your canadian road salt and grime, but just dont mess with your settings once youve got it just so.
glad also that your UK and european viewers were able to help you a bit
Detail Firm ... now that looks classy stuff, as you say though far too sexy to hide away in a cupboard somewhere
Very satisfying...thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks great man nice job
Thank you! Cheers!

Amazing video Rick. What was the mitt you used to clean the steering wheel?
Thanks man. I cut an Adam’s interior scrubbing mitt into pieces. Very handy.
Crazy as usual 😬😉

Saturday mornings are the best for car guys
I'm glad to be a contributing factor to your enjoyment of Saturday morning!
That livestream was a real pleasure to participate in.
Here it is:

Slightly better, but given I used 4 or 5 times more BH, I would HOPE it did a better job! LOL I am loving Fireball Snow Foam and Detail Firm Exterior Lather the most at the moment.
That cleaning power tho🤯
It was sufficient.
Devide the 680 by 17 and that gives you 40ml in 1litre of water . Happy washing. Like I said before I use 50 ml . Sorry I keep amending lol.

Whats your opinion on the merino wool mitt??
Thanks for the sub! I am a huge fan of the CarPro Merino Wool wash mitt. I have been using it regularly for years now and I just love it. Some people have complained of theirs losing fibres, but for some reason, I have never had that. Once in a while I will get a bit of shedding on a really sharp edge of an emblem, but it has been a solid performer for me.
Percect job as always, but I have one question, don´t you plan dechrome whole car? Black front grill is in strong contrast with chrome frame. I did it on my 2013 A6 and it looks perfect. Greetings from Slovakia

Can't wait to get my BH! I had a clean car for 3 days. Ice last night resulted in more salting. Back to where I started from. STRUGGLE is soo real.
Sue, are you going to do the PIR ratio calculations using your new pressure washer, or just play it by ear?
@@RADGarage . Maybe play by ear. That dilution seemed like a lot of poduct!!!YIKES!!
I think that is wise.
So glad to see the "Radmobile" back to its best shape 😊
I can easily guess this maintenance wash took an entire weekend due to the filth and uncommon salty roads you guys have !

Hopefully your weather will begin cooperating so you can give your A5 some love and attention. I will continue to figure out the right mixture ratio for the AF but I have a few more products to play with in the meantime. See you on the next one, Gregg!
Another great one! What did you think of all the products you used?
Where did you find that white conical brush that fit into those cavities of the wheel? I need that for my OEM RS6 wheels.
Haha. That’s actually a baby bottle cleaning brush from when my little guy was on the formula!
@@cmwalona I may have the car re-wrapped in PPF before it happens. Just making up my mind.
How come you used the pressure washer for the contactless wash but the hose pipe with that shower head thing for the wash down after the contact wash ????
Because there is no need, in my mind, to use pressure when the dirt is in the soap at that point.
Thanks for picking up what I was laying down!

Hi Rick, always love the content! 320 mL sounds like an awful lot of product to me. I would love to hear your thoughts after using that compared to the first time before you did all the calculations. I use 3 to 4 ounces of Adams Mega Foam and get amazing foam.
In fact it was 320ml water and 680 ml of product 🤯. Sounds crazy but true, something is not right here..i think🤔
@@jacobandersson3356 I apologize, I meant 680 mL. Got my numbers confused 😃
@@RADGarage just use 200ml in the canister. Works great for me. Not a thick foam, but a wet and cleaning foam
That's what I'm thinking. It seems WAY more reasonable.
Too much foam for me staying with adams foam and gsf foam easy to put in and very little to use.
Good to know
Thanks for your videos
And thanks to keep us inform.
Hey RAD, On your foam cannon, do you turn the dial on the top all the way to produce the most foam?
Darn right I do!
Thanks a million for your videos I very much appreciate them! Do you ever wash the undercarriage? If so what apparatus do you use?
Thanks man!!
The undercarriage on the SQ5 is very well protected with plastic panels. I don't stress too much about it under there, but I do have a water broom that I use in the Spring. That detail will be epic.
How do you like the detail firm degreaser as a wheel and tire cleaner?

@@RADGarage awesome as if I knew it. Have a great rest of your weekend Rick see you on the next one
One question. Why you wash the Cars on the inside of your garage
and not on the outside on your driveway?
The simple answer is convenience. The weather doesn’t permit outside washing many months of the year. Inside, I have everything I need at my fingertips and it is a totally comfortable and efficient process. Thanks for the question. Learn more at: www.radgarage.ca
Thanks for the Quick answer. How about the Equipment and stuff in your garage. Does it get wet?
@@pspbasti1 I have perfected the process so nothing gets damaged by water. Occasionally, some water splashes back and hit the inside of the garage door but I just towel that off no problem.
Another great video Rick, thank you! I wanted to ask - during your foam wash stage, when you're brush-detailing the nooks and crannies around windows/badges/etc, you have a bottle of something you're spraying as you go along. What's in the bottle? Thanks as always for the inspiration!
That's just some Mega Foam in a generic Adam's bottle. Give me the lubricity I am looking for. Thanks for tuning in on a Saturday morning!
@@RADGarage absolutely - thanks for the reply and I'll be looking forward to your future videos!
Roger that.
Yes yes yes super!
Thanks 🤘
What pressure nozzle brand do you use to get such a wide spread, thanks.
Taht is a 40-040 that came with my Mosmatic spray gun I got from Obsessed Garage. I just love its spread.
@@RADGarage Thank you.
in response to the bilt hamber foam wash.
@@RADGarage may I suggest chemical guys snowball snow foam. It will change your life
That's a BOLD statement. Might have to take you up on that! TBT, I have so many foam shampoos at the ready, but I appreciate the recommendation.
@@RADGarage it is and I wouldn’t have recommended it, if I didn’t work.😉
My go-to shop for products doesn't carry Chemical Guys any longer. Maybe I'll come across it at some point. I will try it if you say it's that good.
I just use bh auto foam in a pump sprayer, works fine. I would say you are over-applying the foam, spraying 2-3 coats, last 2 just runoff, its not a shaving cream foam that does nothing, its a cleaning foam
But it’s just so visually satisfying!
Liçence plate vintage,you have hit!?
You have asked about license plates a few times, I don't have any to give away or sell. Sorry.
@@RADGarage please you cant, give me,another thing one sticker for example?
Email me at radgarageyyc@gmail.com and I can get you a decal.
No way.
RAD video sir!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for watching and for the comment.
that is a lot of dirt! haha
I wish there was a way of weighing it.
Top👍🏻
Thanks!
@@ratton5028 here’s the link to that video, should help demonstrate how much to use:

Aswell with Autofoam normally with your 'standard' foams you spray the car very slowly ensuring even coverage. With Autofoam I find you just spray the car with 2/3 passes depending on the size of the car. 5/6 seconds just cover the side of the car. That's how you use so little product. I can get 4/5 cars out of full foam cannon of AutoFoam. It's actually incredible when you get your process and settings dialed in.
👍👍👍
Привет из Москвы
Здравствуй, Москва! Я рад, что ты смог зайти и поздороваться.
@@RADGarage качественный контент и очень интересно
Я рад, что ты так думаешь
Pretty sure using 680 ml of any Similar type of soap will get you the same results lol.
Actually. More effective to add a bit of apc to any soap to be even better.
I agree. A capful of APC will give any of your foam soaps a bit of "bite". Thanks for checking out the project, Dylan.

Thanks Serdar!
It makes me laugh how no matter how filthy the sides of a vehicle are, multiply it by 10 and that is how bad the boot will be. Every SUV and van are the exact same. Hatchbacks too.
That wind turbulence at the rear is real! My nightmare is someone coming along and writing "WASH ME" in the dirt.
@@RADGarage duder, I had a customer that someone did that with a pointed object. I did some hand paint correction, but it only went so far. I didn’t have touch up paint. Another customer had a similar drawing in dust experience, but it isn’t family friendly.
This is why I back into stalls in the winter and park way far away from people! That is my nightmare!
@@RADGarage amen bru, amen!
Is it not 68ml in one litre bottle? 680 ml in a 1 litre bottle is mental 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve given up!
That is a lot of work to figure out the ratio. Toss it straight in the garbage. 🗑. And still the foam is 👎🏻
I have given it my best shot, but I still feel like I am messing something up when it comes to calculating the ratio. At any rate, I have a tonne of other foam shampoos to use so I will put the BH on pause. Thanks for watching though!
Thats way too much autofoam 200 mls is plenty
Hey, I play by the RULES! 😂
so what you're saying is, with the flat black bottles, they're a direct ripoff of AMMONYC, right down to the "lather" name
You're saying it. Not me. I don't see the resemblance in presentation at all tbh. I'd love to try some AMMO products but way too expensive for import to Canada.

You are such a loser
Thanks for watching Humberto.

Glad to have you as a viewer.
Way too much time spent trying to figure out how to use BH products. 3 ounces should be more than enough for any product.
and when using 680ml of BH auto foam, the 5L jug is only good for 7.5 car washes. Nope.
This proves that sometimes more is not better. Seems like a big waste of product for the result you are getting. Just my non professional opinion.
I am satisfied with the performance of the Auto-Foam. I think I need to adjust the amount of foam I use if there's any chance of making it more economical. At this rate, the 5L jug will provide me with 8-9 washes at $50 CAD.
