I have a 2012 pathfinder. Bought it used. It's ran great and has had regular maintenance. Took it to a mechanic today for an oxygen sensor replacement and it doesn't start now. It's worked fine for 6yrs and had a rough idle. Super pissed at mechanics who don't actually fix problems and keep charging to repair the issue.
I asked for oem parts. But im not sure. $725 for diagnostic and 1 sensor replacement. An additional 250 for battery because there was corrosion on terminals. I recently cleaned terminals and was debating if I should just replace the liquid and clean the plates myself.
My 2013 V8 F150 at around 50k was rough idling. Started using Lucas Fuel Treatment. Idles as smooth as like it was brand new. Replaced plugs around 95K and they probably could have ran for another 100K. Have the transmission serviced and the brake lines flush led with new fluid. Still has the original MFS and coil packs. In 12 years not one code/check engine light!
Not going to happen. Nissan and Honda would have to pay Honda to acquire them. What assets do Nissan and Mitsubishi have that Honda doesn’t already have, or could easily replicate?
Hi Mr. Scotty, I grew up in the Spring Branch area here in Houston. I bought my first Infiniti G37 at the first ever Infiniti dealership in the USA. I still own my G37 which is becoming expensive to maintain due to super expensive OE parts and the bad quality of them. Those factors made buy a Lexus product last month. It's sad to see Infiniti deteriorate and close their dealership due to their negligence of the brand.
Infinity is luxury div. of Nissan as Lexus is to Toyota and Accura is for Honda. My Infinity G35S was best car in 55 years driving. I bought it new as gift for wife. A quality car with good hp, great suspension and big brakes.
I worked as a service manager for a ( Datsun ) Nissan dealership. I saw this coming since Datsun went to Nissan. Quality went down and mechanical problems came up that never happened with Datsun. I feel sorry for the employees. Infinity was a slow sales vehicle from the start. Over priced and outdated styling.
I had a 1990 4 x4 pathfinder .. loved that car .. never an issue and would pass stuck tow trucks in that car .. put MILES on it. Drove cross country four times in it, never an issue. Husband totaled it raming into the back of a dump truck. Never found another model of the pathfinder that matched it .. not close

My 2011 Nissan Frontier ordered with a manual 6 speed transmission...with a POS dual-mass flywheel, that destroyed clutches every 20,000 miles, until I bought a Jim Wolfe conversion, old fashioned single mass flywheel, and installed that! Now they don't offer a manual any more.... ...time for a Toyota Tacoma next!
Either that or you dont know how to drive manual transmissions properly. I have a 2011 frontier with 320k miles and the original clutch. And theres a guy who had over a million miles with 700k on the original clutch..
I would not buy anything by Nisan. In the 1990s they were a lot better. I had a friend who bought a Sentra and it went about 250K before he junked it. Back then they were very simple cars.
In a free market, auto makers would quit making a product when few ppl are buying. However, when they tap into the gv trough, they can keep making the product, because it's not their $$$ at risk.
I love my G37 convertible. It's a shame they stopped making them. You claim they're expensive to fix, yet coming from a Volvo C70, they're a lot more reliable and the maintenance is a hell of a lot cheaper.

I had an infiniti and it was nice, and at that time it wasn’t expensive. But it was always having problems. The only Nissan you can count on is the LAST GENERATIONS Frontier. That’s it. The decline of the old Datsun brand is sad.
Definitely not true I had a 2009 Inifinti g37 with 235k miles and ran perfect. Never had any issues until a Dodge Ram backed into me and totaled it. Depends on what Nissan you buy. Anything with the CVT transmission stay away from. They make decent engines it's the CVT that's the issue. I currently have a 2019 Nissan Armada with 73k miles never had any issues except. Love that truck so much and it's a beast 💪. Ppl don't take care of their cars then wonder why they have expensive repairs.
I also owned a Datsun. It was a 1984 200SX I bought new back then. It was about $12,000. I believe it was the last year they were branded Datsun. The next year it was branded Nissan. The Datsun was known as the car being called Datsun and the engine is Nissan.
I can get a power steering hose for a '74 pontiac trans am for < $19 from rockauto - but my t/a that's 50 yrs old with 250k miles doesn't need one. Think about it. I want a new cheap to buy TWO door Versa with a TRUNK, damn it! & similar from ALL the other car companies. No excuse for this.
Dear Nissan, want to reclaim auto sales in N America? Design your own reliable engines (without Renault paper thin spary-on cylinder liners). Cut your losses in JATCO, go back to reliable standard automatics & offer manuals on sport models. And stop with the JCANBUS everything! My cigarette lighter receptacle doesn't need to be networked with built in diagnostics! It all fails prematurely!
New cars aren't selling simply because they're ridiculously expensive, plus they're so complex and the parts so ridiculously expensive that the repairs are even more ridiculously expensive. I'm sticking with buying and driving 15-20-year-old cars
What? Nissan made one of the coolest jdms ever! Edit: My friend literally just sent me a news report saying thelat nissan and honda are going to merge.
Of course, merge two failed auto companies that make Yugo quality with the goal of a new company producing a Lexus, yeah that's likely. Never happened in history.
Unfortunately Nissan has sunk a fortune into JATCO trying to produce a CVT that could survive at least the vehicle's warranty period. Horrible & costly mistake!
I own a 2019 Nissan Armada and thing is a Japanese tank 💪. I miss my 2009 infiniti g37 that got totaled when a Dodge Ram backed into me in a parking lot and totaled it. Had 235k still ran like brand new and never any issues. Had a 97 Altima with 250k+ that I sold to crackheads who drove it 4 years then totaled it. I've had good luck with my Nissans 😎
Loved my 1989 Maxima. What a great car. ‘99 Maxima not as nice, but still a decent car. 2004 Altima now 21 y.o and 131,000 miles. Runs smooth as silk, uses no oil. Transmission is fine. Original water pump. Inside looks almost perfect. Nissan has made some good cars. Hate to see them deteriorate. I may keep the Altima indefinitely. It’s an antique in 4 years.😂🤣
@@FrankRoelofsen camry here. toyotas and hondas are better but if a ford is well maintained no problems. research the model and engine. my friend has a 19 ranger with 157k. starting to go but that is a hell of a run for a turbo no less. engine tranny good. everything else falling apart.
@@subaruamazon ok thanks thats what I wanted to hear thanks so much yes hondas and toyotas are better yes I actually heard that if you take care of a ford it can last a while
All I can think about is who’s gonna dispose of that ev battery and how much is it gonna cost! Nope, I see how they plan on making money in the future off my stupid purchase🤔
The metals inside an EV battery are infinitely recyclable. A lot of recycling is not currently happening here. But that could be changed. It’s a new industry. The batteries themselves last 10-20 years. The manufacturing process of batteries is what really messes with the environment. The fires are also a problem.

Love that truck so much and it's a beast 💪. Ppl don't take care of their cars then wonder why they have expensive repairs.
They should rebrand themselves. Maybe call it...
Datsun?
Last Nissan I owned was a Datsun. I swore I would never own another one way back in 1981, and I haven't. 😂
I also owned a Datsun. It was a 1984 200SX I bought new back then. It was about $12,000. I believe it was the last year they were branded Datsun. The next year it was branded Nissan. The Datsun was known as the car being called Datsun and the engine is Nissan.
The hoses sometimes it's better to go to all hoses and have them make one just saying might be cheaper
Love Nissan.. I have a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder with 260,000 miles.
Nissan trucks are fine. I've had three of them and enjoyed many trouble free miles. The cars... wouldn't have one.
Awesome
How about Muranos?
We've seen this with GM/Ford/Dodge through the decades, no more Oldsmobile, Mercury, and Plymouth. Is Stellantis in the US next?
Those cars that have fastest lap time have million plus price tags
I can get a power steering hose for a '74 pontiac trans am for < $19 from rockauto - but my t/a that's 50 yrs old with 250k miles doesn't need one. Think about it.
I want a new cheap to buy TWO door Versa with a TRUNK, damn it! & similar from ALL the other car companies. No excuse for this.
Infiniti now only sells SUVs. 😢 the small ones are the worst ones with CVT
I had a 2013 Nissan Altima and it was made out of cheap materials on the inside and I was scared of the cvt transmission failing at any moment
I have Altima too same year how’s your running I am terrified of cvt failing as well
Toyo has a full waiting area for maint, but more sails persons, suits flapping looking for a customer! Lol
It’s too bad about Nissan b/c they actually make decent trucks, especially the frontier. Maybe someone like Honda will buy their truck tech
too bad they cant build simple 240 z without all the hi tech gadgetry.... through factory online purchase and pick up at the warehouse.
Love my frontier 4x4 v6 320hp
320?
What year?
2024 msrp 29k here in Dallas TX
Interesting this video came out when today Honda and Nissan is in negotiations to merge into one company.
Say g-bye to Honda
Primarily to produce EV’s
I hope I can still get parts for my Xterra.
There are a ton of Nissans on the road.
I had a Pennsylvania VW
How sad I loved my old infiniti. It was so nice.
The most important question how long will Nissan last across the country goes nobody's buying them
What? Nissan made one of the coolest jdms ever!
Edit: My friend literally just sent me a news report saying thelat nissan and honda are going to merge.
Rinse Repeat come on Scotty
No thanks to anything being built today. I'll just keep the ones I have. I'm not buying a car that costs more than my house cost when I bought it. 😊
I would love for Scotty to have an online debate with Electric Viking!
Viking has ICE deafness, he's fully sold to the EV crowd.
He's the eternal EV optimist...
Mh? Those 12-14 months are for Nissan in general. It´s the first time now that I hear that this is for the Infiniti brand. 🤔
Nissan need to merge with stellantis and make a super car.
Might merge with Honda instead
Of course, merge two failed auto companies that make Yugo quality with the goal of a new company producing a Lexus, yeah that's likely. Never happened in history.
Yeah, grab me a deal on a car/truck with no dealer support. Wait, I'll take 2.
I'm a Toyota guy..😆🙂👍🚙
Who would have thought Nissan would merge with Honda
Nissan lost their way as in the 1980s they made some decent cars. And people actually bought them.
Must be those wonderful Jatco automatic transmissions.
Exactly!
Ours is 21 y.o. No problems so far. Shifts like a dream, as Scotty says.
Unfortunately Nissan has sunk a fortune into JATCO trying to produce a CVT that could survive at least the vehicle's warranty period. Horrible & costly mistake!
"Hell of a Deal?" From what I heard Nissan is struggling to survive. Perhaps not a very smart decision to purchase a vehicle from them...
does someone own nissan?
@@subaruamazon As far as I know Renault owns a big share of Nissan and intends to get rid of it...
@@JensJaskorski oh a crap french car company. is it any wonder?
@@subaruamazon Indeed!
CHEAP JUNK DOESN'T SELL TO SMART PEOPLE WHO ARE WELL INFORMED. caps lock....
I have a Nissan Altima 2013 am I in trouble
Greed and Stupidity walk hand in hand. The end result is, OUT OF BUSINESS.. Buh Bye...
il take a Nissan gtr if there's one going scotty😂
Back in 2000s when Nissan reliable can compare to Toyota and Infinity was love buy Young people😢😢😢
I own a 2019 Nissan Armada and thing is a Japanese tank 💪.
Fiat dealer more like a museum 😮
There's a rumor that Honda's gonna buy Nissan/Infiniti.
And China is buying Jeep to get a foothold in USA
Looks like it
Loved my 1989 Maxima. It’s an antique in 4 years.😂🤣
So you take care of and under drive your car... seems like a recipe for success.
Nissan merging with Honda
Nissan is not Nissan anymore. So they won't be missed.
Play stupid games win stupid prizes!
Hi Scotty can a ford suv be reliable if you take care of it
Rav4’s are the bees knees
a kia can be reliable if you maintain it. 07 camry 153k. change oil every 4k. will last 250 to 300k. no sludge in the engine.
Thanks everyone I thought you would say toyota is a better option i like hondas to
@@FrankRoelofsen camry here. toyotas and hondas are better but if a ford is well maintained no problems. research the model and engine. my friend has a 19 ranger with 157k. starting to go but that is a hell of a run for a turbo no less. engine tranny good. everything else falling apart.
@@subaruamazon ok thanks thats what I wanted to hear thanks so much yes hondas and toyotas are better yes I actually heard that if you take care of a ford it can last a while
Every thing is big in Texas 😂
All I can think about is who’s gonna dispose of that ev battery and how much is it gonna cost! Nope, I see how they plan on making money in the future off my stupid purchase🤔
The metals inside an EV battery are infinitely recyclable. A lot of recycling is not currently happening here. But that could be changed. It’s a new industry. The batteries themselves last 10-20 years. The manufacturing process of batteries is what really messes with the environment. The fires are also a problem.
You can stay in business if you only sell 24 cars per month.... If you only have 1 salesman, 1 sales manager, a receptionist, and 1 mechanic.
Dealerships make like $2000 per car tops 😂, so no.
