Great Video! Thanks for including us in it! That’s a proper wash! It’s important people know how necessary it is to keep your coating decontaminated and maintained. It’s often talked about, but not often done. Coating maintenance regiments are extremely important and can vary depending on the type of coating, your environment where you live and what your specific vehicle goes through in its daily life. If you have a Ceramic Coated Vehicle make sure you have a Decon Regiment in place! We are here to help if anyone has questions about what’s right for your vehicle.
Hey Chris. I find it wild that a year ago we were sharing a meal at that Greek place in Chicago and here we are a year later chatting about ceramic coating maintenance on my TH-cam channel. I think the past few months with this coating has taught me that regular maintenance washes may not always be enough to maintain a coating's hydrophobic performance. I am still not convinced I have flushed all the minerals out of the coating. I completely agree that the environment where you live is a determining factor in how that coating will perform on a vehicle. Let me ask you, how confident are you that the VEROS coating you sent me will stand up to the absolute shitstorm of abuse my car sees up here?
Rick, you’re amazing. There are plenty of intelligent and experienced detailers that will give you feedback on your process. I want to affirm you on the manner in which you treat others. Your humility and graciousness is as beautiful to see as the the final presentation of the SQ5. Never lose that quality about you. We are better detailers for having watched you but I hope we don’t miss your kindness and integrity that shines through all your productions. Go RAD and go Flames 👊🏽🙏🏽
I don't know how much my PR team is paying you to say such nice things about me, but it isn't enough! 🙏 I enjoy watching the content you put out there for the same reasons. There's enough ego in the world as it is. I think you and I just want to enjoy detailing and share the process and results with those that appreciate this kind of thing.
As Canadian winters go, the one here on the Rock is heading for the top five for sure! I don’t use ceramic coatings for several reasons but I do use a ceramic paint sealant from Jescar. I can get 8-9 months from it before I know it’s gone. Part of my spring decontamination process includes CarPro’s Descale. It really does remove any lingering sealants and detail sprays. Good luck and I am very jealous of your setup. Hope this solves your problem and yet another home run video. Till the next one.
I was thinking how much work I put into maintaining my coating, then started thinking about your average person and how it would be virtually impossible for them to go through what I go through. It does make you wonder if going with a liquid ceramic coating is the best solution given the weather challenges we face.
Thank you for the video it is quite satisfying to see you restoring the Hydrophobicity of your ceramics please keep up the great videos you are putting out because it’s my favourite to watch on TH-cam
Thanks so much! It has been a learning process since I have never encountered clogging on this level, but it has been fun to share the struggle with my viewers! Have a great weekend.
Damnnnn. Nice video this was a doozy to watch fantastic job!!! The beading looks great. The DIY detail waterspot remover is amazing. Maniac wheel and Tyre 1:5 in a IK Foamer is amazing give that a go see how you like it. 💪
Ok brother, that Audi still is bad ass. 9 minutes and 32 seconds in for RAD reverse gravity in Canada effect. Love your car, products, garage and your videos. Much respect buddy
Rick the Audi looks much better now and is well protected. I use the same process for decontamination with three ounces of lift in the foam cannon because I want the product to cling to the paint. Then I rinse and use four ounces of descale in the soap bucket. For the mineral remover I keep a microfiber soaking in the bucket and clean each panel with one spray into the microfiber towel and one spray on the panel. In conjunction with the iron removal process this works every time for me. I do like how lift and descale pour out easily from the measuring cup into the foamer or bucket. As always your production is beyond amazing as you’re a very talented producer. Thank you for the video Rick!
You put an insane amount of thought and intention into what you do, Neil. It's inspiring. Since the weather seems to get more and more challenging to deal wtih, I am sure my decon process will continue to evolve. I haven't had to conduct washes to this extent in the past, so it is kind of new to me. I have been spoiled and just used any old soap and things worked out, but this coating is very finicky.
Great production,Rick.. you can definitely see it took it hit but it's for SURE still there. Few spots it's sheeting but still sheeting at a great rate.. with how harsh your conditions are I'd say it's holding up good. I need to do the same thing to my car.. approaching the 2 year mark and never done a thorough decontamination wash. Enjoyed the video!
I just feel like I am working for the coating when the coating should be working for me. This is true of all the coatings I have applied to the Audi in the past. They seem to require more maintenance than the average person is able to provide.
@RADGarage Totally feel you on that one! You've gotta keep up with it given your harsh winters.. overall though the car looks gorgeous.. gloss is off the charts! 👏👏👏
My neighbours are impressed. They are the only ones who ever get to see it clean, besides me because once it hits the road, it's back to being trashed!
I tried some of DIYs products on my wife’s car and couldn’t be happier, the car has never been polished but it sure looks like it was, your car looks gorgeous, waking up on a Sunday morning with a coffee and your video, what could be better my friend 👍😁
I think everyone feels the same about the DIY Detail line. It just works and keeps the process fun and simple. There are times where I crave something a little more sophisticated and complicated (not sure why!), but DIY Detail's line up just makes so much sense. Glad you enjoyed this one. I am sipping a cup of coffee right now responding to the comments and I will watch the video a few more times before moving on to my next project.
I came here for the CarPro descale as I didn't want to have to do the last step of water spot remover panel by panel..... I'm leaving here with do the DIY Detail Water spot remover and don't worry about Descale LOL. I have seen several videos of what DIY WSR can do and it is impressive each time.
This was the first experience I had with a heavily clogged coating. From what I have learned, the NRP by Dr. Beasley's coating is on the softer side of the spectrum as far as coatings go. This results in more clogging. The DIY Detail WSR did a highly effective job of unclogging it.
Hi Rick ! I fully agree with you the SQ5 is still a head turner. According to me, the hydropohobics are definitely back to a fair state compared to your previous wash process. To be honest with you, I did not expect the coating to react as well as it did. I mean, after dealing with wildfire fallout last summer and the incredible amount of grime mixed with road salt this winter, your "RAD Wash" process was for sure the best combo ever to revive your protection... I have seen coatings totally ruined after less that one year due to car not properly maintained or heavy contamination. Your SQ5 is definitely performing very well, not as much as you'd expect I guess but still... Please continue enjoying it every day. Thanks for that nice content Stay RAD Gregg
Yes, the coating is doing a fair job in terms of hydrophobicity. The paint looks amazing and I am overall happy. I am considering what to do come Spring because I like trying out new coatings. I will have to weight my many options. I have received a number of possible replacement coatings over the winter from various companies.
I am certainly fortunate that my garage will allow me to do whatever I want in most weather conditions. The only time I don't like working in there is when the temps dip below -20ish. That just isn't fun.
I appreciate that. Maybe one day I’ll be able to fully commit to the channel. For now, lots of other stuff going on so I just enjoy the awesome community I have here.
and the academy award for cinematography and soundtrack goes to…..mad garage - unclogging coating 🎉 holy crap what a great video, i instantly subbed and will be checking out your other videos ✌🏽🐿️✌🏽
Thanks for the kind words. I pride myself on creating content that does more than inform. I like to think I have an eye for the beauty that sometimes gets overlooked when a car is being washed and/or detailed. Thanks for checking out my library of videos. I bet you'll see a progression in my skills and approach when looking back on previous videos.
I often use my own videos to motivate me to go wash my car! Other times, I just use them to reflect on how clean it was. I hope the rain relents and you can get out there.
I am almost completely satisfied with the results. I am contemplating going through the process one more time just to see if I can get even more out of the coating's hydrophobic performance. Regardless, she looks like a million bucks. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment.
Honestly, a spray sealant of this caliber is complete overkill since I am having to wash and decon this car bi-weekly. But, it is a good one and I like applying it.
I'm glad you found this video helpful. Like many viewers, I am learning as I go. I am happy to share my experience through the production of videos that focus primarily on the beauty of the process, but I do sneak some info in there when and where appropriate.
The damage has certainly be done to the coating, but I’m glad to see the Water Spot Remover brought it back a fair bit. I use it as a fairly frequent maintenance routine to keep coatings healthy
I thought my regular maintenance wash routine was enough to keep things fresh. I will have to do a few more "decon" washes throughout the winter to give my coatings a fighting chance of survival. I have been doing a ton of highway driving this winter too, which I think has made things even worse. Those chemicals are hitting my car at highways speeds and that can't be good.
The fact there are so many stones in my treads is starting to trigger me, but I have to wait for a few more months until I can begin the cathartic process of removing them one by one!
Nice job again Rick 👌I had to do the same to my ram 1500 the hydrophobic was totally gone also but I was able to bring it back pretty much the same process you did 😊
The softer nature of this coating turned out to be a bit of a detriment in terms of warding off the impact of our brutal winter conditions. I haven't had to perform such thorough decon washes on perviously installed coatings. But, with a little rejuvenation using a Water Spot Remover and Iron Remover, I got it back to an acceptable level of performance.
Still looks amazing after 7 years! Well done Rick. 👍🏻. BTW that yellow/green paint in the wheel spoke looks really good. You should paint the others like it.
That has always been my goal. I have never been able to maintain any of my cars as well as I have with this one and I do think it shows. Even though the mileage is starting to pile up on it, I still feel like it is brand new.
Love your cinematography, makes that car look awesome. I live on dirt roads in eastern Ontario and fight the clogging on my vehicles ( they all have different coatings) I’ve found DIY detail water spot remover to be the best. My roads have salt, calcium and the dirt from dirt roads. Buddy’s cars that live in city are always do much better than mine. Cost for living in the country! Keep up great videos.
I have owned this SQ5 for almost seven years and the design and appearance still captivate me. I have been doing a lot more highway driving this winter than ever before and I know what you are saying. I was naive when it came to thinking how much mineral contamination was hiding on my car. My regular maintenance wash regiment was not enough. This will now mean my regular washes will involve some more "bite" and aggression.
Merci pour vos aimables paroles et votre soutien. Il faut beaucoup de temps pour réaliser ces vidéos mais tant que les gens les apprécieront, je continuerai à faire de mon mieux pour les réaliser.
Great video Rick! Was so excited to see the video pop up lol. This is definitely a great one, two, three punch to knock out any contamination on the surfaces that are coated. For your routine washes during the non-salt months use lift followed by reset. It’s unfortunate about the coating not heading in places especially since you just added bead hero on the top last time. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on dr beasleys products specifically the coatings etc. you should polish it out with diy gold standard & coat it with one of their coatings come spring time. I’ve heard great things and their products are legit!! Thank you for another great cinematic experience lol
DIY Detail products are definitely legit. I like coating and re-coating my own car to learn about various coatings. I have a few options once Spring arrives. I need something that will not absorb road contaminants and that would mean something that cures rock hard.
I too am having similar issues with my Gyeon MOHS coating I applied this summer. It was super hydrophobic in summers bc of the continual upkeep but this winter I wasn’t able to wash the car sometimes with months between washes. The coating isn’t beading as much rather sheeting, I can feel contaminants in the paint and will do a decon wash in the warmer weather however the use of a claying device will leave light swirls bc of the soft nature of my paint. Feel like I’m in a corner now, but usually an iron decon and tar decon do the job will try that water spot remover it seems like it really did the job.
I’m happy with the current performance. For you, I would highly recommend the DIY Detail Iron Remover with the synthetic perforated towel. I don’t think it will mar like a bar.
Definitely seems like Alberta conditions, the doors are always getting a beating!!, applying an extra layer of protection always helps too!! Mine will be done tomorrow now that I see how clean yours came out!! Another awesome video
I love to hear that this video inspired you to tackle your own project. The sides of our cars take an absolute beating here. I have been doing a lot of highway driving up to see my Grandma in Red Deer and that road grime pulverizing the sides and back of my car at the speeds I travel the QE2 is on par with commercial sandblasting, if you ask me. I now see there was a lot of mineral hiding in the coating that the regular maintenance washes just weren't getting to.
@@RADGarageI’m using IronX soap today for my overhaul wash, I find that it tackles a lot of the things that are in the paint, iron particles, contaminants, etc followed by tri x usually that does it for me, but I don’t drive on highways as much so that might be the key difference
Sounds like you have a solid process that works for you. I am sure the highway is the factor that has really made things challenging for me. I don't normally hit the highway too much but this year I have been doing tonnes of highway driving.
@@RADGaragehave you ever tried applying fireball coating? I heard those are very very effective at maintaining their hydrophobic properties, or do you have any experience with it?
Yup. Two of my best projects I have ever posted featured applying Fireball Devil's Blood and Typhoon: Ford Focus RS: th-cam.com/video/mK-dnB-vzRs/w-d-xo.html Audi RS5: th-cam.com/video/ig2PWM8qBCc/w-d-xo.html
My son and I are about to head down to the Saddledome to watch our Calgary Flames extinguish the Detroit Red Wings in a matinee game. The weekend couldn't be off to a better start!
Hey Rick, I do the exact same steps to decon my Audi. Maybe it's overkill, but I add a tar removal step just to be sure. And yeah, I'm sure my coating combo will bounce back but, like yours, it won't be the same as freshly applied... 'clogging' areas are the hood and front doors. Still, I find the SQ5 looking pretty good! Much love from Belgium 👍🏻
Tar removal too! My washes already take all day! 😂 As I said in the video, I am semi-happy with the results. I have learned a valuable lesson that coatings require more than good maintenance washes when they are facing the onslaught of chemical/mineral abuse this one has seen. I think it has a lot to do with the increased amount of driving I have been doing this winter as compared to others and much of that mileage has been on highways.
@@RADGarage They take all day, don't they just?? Hah, the lady of the house doesn't always like it 😊 but she knows it's my passion! Well, my next wash IS a decon wash, I'm curious to see what results the decon brings. In my opinion, highways bring the highest speeds that dirt, grime & minerals get thrown at a car making it extra dirty, if that makes any sense. Stay rad Rick. Loving the content.
Great and informative video, Rick, thanks for sharing! I plan on trying some of your techniques on my vehicle (Ethos Graphene Ceramic coating) as well, I'm encountering the same sort of situation on the lower half of the truck; lack of hydrophobics, and a bit less gloss on that lower half. Thanks again for sharing, and keep up the great work!
I'm such a noob. I thought it was good to go right out of the bottle! I have heard 1:3, 1:5 and now you are recommending 1:10 dilution. I'll start with your suggestion. I have never had much success with the IK Foaming sprayer. In fact, I don't even own own anymore, but I do love my little 1.5L Alkaline sprayer with the blue top. I'll give it a go in that next time round. Thanks for the insight.
I hate it when I rush and miss things that like that. It comes with the territory of making videos. I am always under a time crunch for some reason or another.
The only hard part is just freeing up enough time. What takes 2-3 hours without filming now takes me 8-10 and we are a one-car family which makes it even more tricky. But, when I have the time, I absolutely love it.
@@RADGarage It just goes to show how abusive the winter is on our cars. I know it was alot of work and care to keep it looking awesome! Much Respect!!!
I was somewhat pleased, but still somewhat perplexed. Coatings certainly require a lot of maintenance up here, and I just can't imagine the average person having the time, patience or wherewithal to do what I do.
@@RADGarage I agree not every one has time. But I think it's great that your audience was able to give input and you tried it out. Have you reached out to the copy that made the coating? Any tips from them on unclogging?
I have learned a lot. I had no idea a coating could retain so much mineral contamination even after receiving a pretty regular schedule of maintenance washes. I guess they all have their own personality.
I think it has a lot to do with the GPM of my pressure washer and the condition of my water. I have been very blessed in the quality of foam I have enjoyed over the years. Only one foam did not properly foam, and that was the TAC System stuff I tried a few years ago. Other than that, perfection.
I was looking forward for this video! DIY water spot for the win, not perfect, but i use it regularly in the Winter months and help to neutralize the salts/grime on the road. But yeah the coating took a hit, for sure. So far i’ve had great results (personnal cars and custom est)with Fireball silla that i found that is a great coating that fight best with all the chemicals they put on our roads. I’ve yet to try polysilazane coatings (i.e apex bc 7)that would be chemical resistant as well. Anyhow, awesome video as always Rick 🙌🙌
The TH-cam library is suspect at best. I am always dealing with the placement and removal of copyright claims on the music I use. The artists will allow me to use their music, but some of them have representation and those labels subscribe to the Content ID on TH-cam. It's a real pain, but it's a pain I feel is worth enduring. I see why people use Artlist, Epidemic et al. It's way easier, but you are limited.
I think that last bucket wash might not have rinsed away fully, the water behavior looked better after the water spot remover. That definitely brought it back pretty well in my opinion. Nano Resin Pro is definitely more of a sheeter than a beader from everything I have heard. I'd say it looks pretty good considering the beating it has taken with that wildfire ash and your winters up there. Quick tip with the decontamination towel, dunk it in your wash bucket (for extra lubrication) and then fold it twice so you have some extra cushion (less pressure points). Work it with long strokes and no pressure until you no longer feel any contamination.
You make a lot of excellent points. I am going to conduct another wash next weekend and we will get an even better sense of where things are at. Thanks for your thoughtful contribution to this conversation. I really appreciate it. 🤘
Hi Rick 🖐! Another great detailed video! Audi certainly looks better this time. It will be interesting to see what you do this summer, will this coating stay or will you experiment with something else. For a 7 year old vehicle it looks fantastic! Goes to show that taking care of vehicle certainly pays off. Cheers!!.. 🍻
I like to think I have done my job in keeping the car looking its best. I have a few options for this summer and I do think I will apply a different coating. It's part of the fun for me.
Always got the best music choices! If you were to decide at this point you wanted to remove the coating and reapply a fresh one, what would be the best approach? Repeat that decon process and then get into compounding/polishing?
That’s exactly the process I plan on following. It’s just a matter of polishing off the remaining coating. Luckily, there’s no real paint correction necessary since I don’t induce swirls on my car.
That’s exactly how I approached it. The car was a little bit wet. I might try again next time after doing a quick towel dry. It really demonstrated just how much invisible contamination was lurking on my paint.
It has everything to do with the elastomeric character of this particular coating. It is definitely more susceptible to issues and we have nothing but issues here!
That’s pretty much just the whole coating reset book you threw at it. Unfortunately, I never seem to see Dr. B’s coatings fair well in the area of hydrophobic durability.
I will conduct this process one more time in a few weeks to see if we have reached peaked hydrophobicity or if there is still some unlocked potential. I have taken so much footage of this car over the years, and I will say that the finish footage in this video represents the drippiest this paint has ever looked. The DR B's NRP definitely deserves some credit in that regard.
I’m really stuck on that. I priced out a new SQ5 and it was $88k plus tax. It’s just not enough better than mine to justify it. The Macans are stupid expensive. I might look at something like a slightly used RS5 Sportsback. I saw a 2021 for $80k but I think I’ll be sticking with the current for a while longer.
I have only used the Wheel & Tyre Cleaner and I used it at full strength which isn't recommended. It was awesome, but next time I will adhere to the actual direction! 1:3 - 1:10 is the recommended dilution range. I am confident their products will live up to my expectations.
@@RADGarage great to know! They're Italian products, here it's easy to spot them even in random hardware stores. Next time I'll come across their wheel cleaner I'm giving it a try... only because it got your seal of approval! 😂 Cheers man!
Great Video!! Have you ever tried Labocosmetica 3pH Wash-system? primus 2.0, purifica and semper? Brutal wash method it made my 2 year old ceramic coating really beading and sheeting again 😊 Its from the same company from the Wheel Cleaner you used. MaFra is the head of Labocosmetica.
Now that my friends at TOC are Labocosmetica retailers, I will be welcoming those products you mentioned to my collection real soon. I’m looking forward to it.
Allo! My question is : is ceramic coating good for winter time?
@@RADGarage i'm gonna change my old DIY Detail ceramic coating ( the first version ) for the new C6 Hydro Lite . It's not cheap but i hope it will stand our harsh winter climat!
Nice video and its still shining strongly underneath. I wonder if it might be asking a bit much expecting the ceramic to be beading like early application days. Open question to you, which you may have already thought about - thats a heck of a lot of work, steps, processes, products (and cost?) and time to go through to maintain the ceramic. Your weather conditions look extremely harsh. Does the ceramic provide something that a long lasting liquid sealant wouldn't? You could reasonably assume that the sealant would be worn off with that type of grit and grime but if the ceramic is also having a hard time and you need to go through so many steps to revive it then couldn't you equally just do a deep clean and apply another layer of sealant in the same scenario? Interesting condundrum perhaps, is it worth it!
Get out of my head! I am thinking exactly what you are saying. What is the benefit of applying a liquid ceramic if it requires this level of maintenance? I think of all the cars I have applied coatings to and I know those owners do not have the capacity to care for it they way I do. I think there is a good case to be made that using a spray sealant makes as much, if not more sense that a liquid one. I think the harder coatings are more suited to the conditions here. This elastomeric coating struggles to stay effective. Lots of food for thought.
@@RADGarage Haha hey I'm starting to think the same man! I'm over the pond from you, we don't get winters quite like you but we have our fair share of muck and grime on the roads at this time. You wash the car and it'll be dirty again after a few drives. But, in my case, some spring pollen plus subsequent hot days last year has knackered my CSL, and I paid a pro to polish and apply it! Now, I have no beading (need to give a decon wash a go but I'm not expecting it to suddenly revive back as I don't think, in reality, they work like magic) and the pollen etched my paint. Thats without current winter scenarios. I can't keep on top of it everytime so even for someone in the 'middle bracket', that enjoys detailing but not fully devoted to it or without a fancy garage setup like you, its still not worked as I'd hoped...But you're right the more regular people who aren't going to buy all these products I wonder what they are experiencing come spring clean time, I dont think they'll even bother washing it right now...! For me, I wonder if just going back to a decent wax that I wash and just reapply as needed might suffice and during winter a more durable spray application product thats quick to apply...hmmm! 🤔 Isn't what you've applied a full on hard curing ceramic? Its only hanging on on the horizontal panels like the bonnet.
@@RADGarage Perhaps an option is to apply something that'll last a good year (strong sealant or lite ceramic) at the start of the year and which the following winter may likely kill off and then just reapply again. Thats another option I'm thinking of.
I detailed a Lexus IS300 a bunch of years back and that owner had used one of the Turtle Wax spray sealants and I think it was a great choice for him. I polished it off (not as easy as it sounds) and applied a Gyeon coating, but he would have been just fine sticking with the spray sealant imo.
@@RADGarage Good to hear some real world feedback of other products. I'll look into that one as a possibility, might just be the all rounder I(/we) need!
I suggest that a Nano ceramic coating isn't the best (hardest) coating, for me is "Nano" just a "lite" coating. Otherwise you have to go with Labocosmetica Purifica, more suitable than Descale, (ph6 isn't really sour to unclog coatings) Or you should have to go with Polishangel Viking (heavy climate)
Thanks! I appreciate the lovely sparkle the KCX provided but I have to see how it helps me come next wash which should be soon. It had nice slickness when applying. Not sure I’ve used HydrO2 yet. If I have, I have forgotten.
Dang, I was hoping lift, descale, iron remover, water spot remover & a Ph neutral soap finisher would bring it back to 100% hydrophobicity. It looks to be definitely improved but still not perfect in many sections of the car. Its definitely beading and sheeting but we both know what that should look like when it’s perfect. Like u said, the fire fallout may have cooked the coating beyond deep repair, as well as all the constant salt and snow. Do u plan on a fresh polish and new coating in the spring? I’d highly recommend artdeshine nano graphene coating Rick. When I got my car coated they provide a 7 year guarantee on the hydrophobicity :) the biggest difference I saw between my previous Gyeon ceramic coating and graphene is the water spot resistance with graphene, it’s almost immaculate. Definitely beads and sheets I feel much better as well compared to a ceramic coating. The candy gloss is amazing.
The area that let me down the most was the rear hatch below the wiper. I was really hoping to see the hydrophobics bounce back, but that is probably the portion of the vehicle that takes the brunt of winter abuse. As a "TH-camr", I think I will bow to the pressure of installing a new coating come Spring. I just have too many options thanks to the generosity of others. What coating I will apply is still not decided. I applied Artdeshine on a 1976 BMW 2002 a few years ago. It is an amazing coating. Part of me wants to conduct some sort of campaign where companies compete for the "honour" of being used on my SQ5!
@@RADGarage definitely try graphene for your next coating. I’m so keen to see how it would deal with Canadian winter abuse. See if it comes out stronger than any of your ceramic coatings
I have done a few graphene coating projects in the past. One was Ethos on a black RS5 and the other was Artdeshine on a 1976 BMW 2002. They both have lived up to expectations. The owner of the RS5 has since sold that car but it was still showing amazing signs of endurance and he did nothing other than wand washes to maintain. The BMW is a summer car but it still looks amazing. BMW: th-cam.com/video/piOzKNufx5M/w-d-xo.html RS5: th-cam.com/video/ubr2QB95ET4/w-d-xo.html
I am very appreciative of your support and I can't imagine the difference in conditions we must face. What is the biggest challenge to maintaining a clean car in AUS?
Hey Rick, how do u find that foam tire applicator? I think mine lasted 4-5 wash sessions before the hand fell apart from the base, I was using car pro Perl as my tire dressing. I need a reliable tire applicator….
I have had amazing luck with dressing applicators. I think I still have one that I have been using for 10 years! Perhaps you are just unlucky or you are just too strong. 💪
All products, tools and equipment used in each video are linked or listed in the video description, including the hex applicator I use a lot of the time. I also use the little brush by CarScope.
The instructions on that particular product do not specify wet or dry. Honestly, I can't see how a little water on the panel would make a big difference. Maybe the @diydetailofficial team can chime in.
Funny you mention that. I have been chatting with the team at Clean & Shiny in the UK and I was just checking out their collection of Carbon Collective products wondering what they are like. I haven't tried, but I am liking what I am learning about them.
Been in the 40s last few weeks in lower Michigan. Been able to get in a handwashing nearly weekly this whole winter. Can’t remember another season like it. Great video. Hydrophobics are restored some and the car is protected, but I agree nothing crazy compared to other coatings on the market. Will you plan to redo it this summer season?
I'm not sure what happened with my Adam's connection. It just kind of fizzled. I have heard only good things about their graphene coating. Like I said, I have a few options to consider between now and the Spring time.
I seemed to notice a little less sheeting on the sides of your Audi, do you think the road grime, salt, affected it? It came back to life after all the processes you did. You know I never really had an appreciation for Audis until I started watching your channel. Your car is gorgeous!!!
You don't think any foam made its way up there? It's just very hard to film everything, especially at the rear of the car since the garage door is so close.
Hi Rick, I'm Alessandro from Italy, as always congratulations you are a master in Detailing, is the decontamination process with Iron Remover and its clay cloth also valid for removing insects on the front bumper, especially in summer? Is the clay cloth of fine grade? Unfortunately I won't be able to purchase on the Carzilla site because they don't ship to Italy, too bad now I'll have to do it differently, on Carzilla I had seen everything on one site while here I'll have to purchase on multiple sites, I hope I can manage ti do it, however it gives me the impression that end of the job you have restored it very well Rick really a great job, you have revived your Ceramic covering, consider that each covering needs a wash every 15 - 20 days to be maintained, calmly with you no problem you know how to move and I hope to arrive a day like you, I still have a long way to go.....see you soon bye Rick, a big hug and say hello to CANADA😉👍🤙💖🍁
Bella chiacchierata. Passa un bel weekend.
@@RADGarage Hi Rick, I required an email to the Carzilla site but entering my address doesn't let me put Italy, I know that the costs are a little high to ship, but I had seen several products and accessories that I miss and don't need, I tried looking here where I come from and some products and accessories are not available... we'll see Hello dear friend, thank you and you too had a nice weekend...😉👍🤙❤🍁
Coatings are hard, alot of respect for anyone that brings them to market. Looking forward to working with you on a project soon Rick.
We have definitely grown accustomed to them doing everything all the time. Looking forward to collaborating with you soon. 🤘
Thanks for using DIY Detail products, but please remember to fold you Perforated Synthetic Decontamination Towel.
We like to live dangerously here at RAD Garage!
I wonder how many of your veiwers notice your Nokian Tyres, the best winter tire on the planet!
It one of those "if you know you. know'. I am absolutely loving the latest generation Hakkapeliitta's. These R5's are getting the job done and more!
I enjoy watching the content you put out there for the same reasons. There's enough ego in the world as it is. I think you and I just want to enjoy detailing and share the process and results with those that appreciate this kind of thing.
You made detailing an art form. One of the sickest car detailing videos I’ve ever seen! Wow!
Thanks so much. I take a lot of pride in my content. Probably to my detriment but I love the way it all plays out in front of the camera.
I will definitely dilute the W&T Cleaner and use it in my IK. I just assumed it was good to go straight outta the bottle! 🤷♂️
Ok brother, that Audi still is bad ass. 9 minutes and 32 seconds in for RAD reverse gravity in Canada effect. Love your car, products, garage and your videos. Much respect buddy
When I have an entire day to produce a wash video, and my teaching job hasn't completely exhausted my patience, I can do great things!
Stunning cinematography. I always love the antigravity foam and those slow motion large bubbles were quite cool as well. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks buddy. As you know, I love concentrating on the details of the process that get overshadowed and ignored.
Came for the content cause everyone decons different.....stayed for the background music. Nice content man! 👍
Thanks. I like to make videos that appeal to more than just the eyes.
Water spot remover for the win!
Goes to show your paint is rarely ever 100% clean and free of contamination.
@@RADGarage they get the good seat! I was very impressed at how much hydrophobic properties came back after that water spot remover!
@@RADGarage have a great day my friend
Havent seen your videos for a while, forgot how great they are. Fantistic quality and music
Thanks man. They are fun.
Hey Rick...Nice work my friend. We all appreciate every video you produce!
I always feel the appreciation of my supporters. Thanks Eric. 🤘
Thanks for that nice content
Stay RAD
Gregg
Yes, the coating is doing a fair job in terms of hydrophobicity. The paint looks amazing and I am overall happy. I am considering what to do come Spring because I like trying out new coatings. I will have to weight my many options. I have received a number of possible replacement coatings over the winter from various companies.
Raining for days/weeks here in the UK - wish I had a garage like yours to detail in!!! 😂
I am certainly fortunate that my garage will allow me to do whatever I want in most weather conditions. The only time I don't like working in there is when the temps dip below -20ish. That just isn't fun.
INCREDIBLE results Rick ! That gloss is simply outstanding, it looks like you have 10 layers of clear coat on your paint. Good stuff and thank you !
There’s one shot at the end that blows me away of the doors. I’ve never had my paint honey dripping like this.
You should be proud !

Great video, again.
The weather is so rainy here in Holland, otherwise I ran outside and wash my car and try to get the same results 😊
I often use my own videos to motivate me to go wash my car! Other times, I just use them to reflect on how clean it was. I hope the rain relents and you can get out there.
Looks like you had great results. The SQ5 looks great again.
I am almost completely satisfied with the results. I am contemplating going through the process one more time just to see if I can get even more out of the coating's hydrophobic performance. Regardless, she looks like a million bucks. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment.
Another highly entertaining RAD production!
Thank you Sir!
wow I have never seen a foam soap do such a profound job!!! It was beautiful watching it work.
And some people think a foam stage isn’t necessary! 🤦♂️
@@RADGarage I foam every time. Once to get dirt off and 2nd time for the contact wash.
I am doing more secondary foams as well. It just works.
So.02 is a great spray sealant. It should last you a few months. It’s not a super tight beader but the gloss, ease of use and durability is fantastic!
Honestly, a spray sealant of this caliber is complete overkill since I am having to wash and decon this car bi-weekly. But, it is a good one and I like applying it.
And again a very good video with helpful tips. Thanks, Rick!
That was a snow foam avalanche! Nice results from the process. I’m a big fan of the Popo as well. Stay RAD!
Another POPO fan? That's awesome. I have been enjoying the richness of the foam produced by the new MJJC cannon. It's a real showstopper.
Both video was well produced and detailed the right way. I look forward to see the next coatings you’ll apply. And respect to your craft Rick.
I appreciate that my friend. I take pride in all of it. The wheels are already in motion for a new coating for the Spring. 🌱
That’s aesthetically awesome, I look forward to seeing the footage of the summer wheel 🛞 and the stone removal process 😀
Just caught your comment about the yellow paint! You may be on to something there. 🤘
once again a work with RAD quality. hug 💯👍🇵🇹
Thanks Henrique. It was a lot of work but I am very pleased with how the video showcased all my hard work.
Hi Rick Greetings from Germany
Ja dann muss ich mal wieder mein Auto putzen .
Sehr gutes Video.
Wenn überhaupt, inspirieren meine Videos andere dazu, dorthin zu fahren und ihre Autos zu reinigen!
What a nice presentation.. WOW. So good views and filming/editing. Must have taken a lot of work. Thanks!! Appreciations from Denmark
With a positive comment like that, you are welcome back anytime! Thanks so much. 🤘
What a way to spend a weekend
You’re always welcome brother.
Yup. Two of my best projects I have ever posted featured applying Fireball Devil's Blood and Typhoon:
Ford Focus RS: th-cam.com/video/mK-dnB-vzRs/w-d-xo.html
Audi RS5: th-cam.com/video/ig2PWM8qBCc/w-d-xo.html
Always amazing content Rick hope you and the family have a great weekend.
My son and I are about to head down to the Saddledome to watch our Calgary Flames extinguish the Detroit Red Wings in a matinee game. The weekend couldn't be off to a better start!
Outstanding job !!
Thank you for sharing and thank you for your time.
Stay safe
I enjoy sharing these projects and receiving positive feedback. Have yourself a great weekend.
As I said in the video, I am semi-happy with the results.
Enjoy your epic wash!
Still looks incredible!
It may even look better now that it ever has.
Another great video Rick.
Thanks for watching. I hope it added to the enjoyment of your day.

Спасибо за просмотр! Ваша поддержка очень ценна.

Did a good job man, just that prewash foam stage was overkill lmao.
Your coating is just taken a solid hit - but it's still working for sure.
I live for the foam! Thanks for watching.
The Maniac Wheel & Tyre cleaner is legit. I use it 1:10 in the IK Foamer and it still hits hard. Great video by the way.
@@RADGarage Your bottle did look RTU. Mine is concentrated that I mix.
I hate it when I rush and miss things that like that. It comes with the territory of making videos. I am always under a time crunch for some reason or another.
@@RADGarage I'm glad I found your channel. . I can't imagine how hard it is to make them.
The only hard part is just freeing up enough time. What takes 2-3 hours without filming now takes me 8-10 and we are a one-car family which makes it even more tricky. But, when I have the time, I absolutely love it.
Awesomely rad as always my friend.
It’s been an entertaining challenge. I’ve learned a lot along the way. Thanks for watching, Clint.
Rick, the Audi looks like her coating is still there, and as always she looks fantastic! Hopefully this winter with it's salt will go away soon!

@@RADGarage It just goes to show how abusive the winter is on our cars. I know it was alot of work and care to keep it looking awesome! Much Respect!!!
Radtastic video ricky...
Awesome results 👏🏼
Yeah, I am happy with the results of my process. There is no denying the high level of gloss, but those hydrophobics are still a bit lacklustre.
Glad this gave you some results that were pleasing.
If you close your eyes, envision John Malkovich casually talking about detailing. 🤯
Mind. Blown.
My foam is NEVER EVER like marshmallow fluff like yours is. What am I doing wrong? Or do you just put half the bottle of soap in your cannon? loll
I have a lot to consider before the summer. Thanks for the feedback and the Fireball line of coatings is 🔥 for sure.
Another great video. Such awesome music you find.
It’s the best part.
@@RADGarage I gotta find a good source for music too! The TH-cam library isn’t very good.
Love it as always
Just a middle-aged man messing about in his garage!
@@RADGarage thanks for your videos....I don't know how you do it man!
@@jeffc6832 Me neither!
@@RADGarage what pad/polish combo do you intend to use?
It's gonna be hard to choose, but probably the DIY Detail Gold Standard polish with their waffle pad. Seems to be my go-to these days.
Great! Best wishes from Russia 🤝
Thanks for tuning in!
Great video! For the water spot step, is it just as straight forward as spray on, wipe, and rinse off? Damp microfiber towel or mitt?
That’s exactly how I approached it. The car was a little bit wet. I might try again next time after doing a quick towel dry. It really demonstrated just how much invisible contamination was lurking on my paint.
Rick did you dilute that maniac wheel and Tyre ?? It will stain your stuff 1:5,1:3 is the dilution
Seriously? I have to use a generic spray bottle in order to use the Wheel & Tyre Cleaner? I hate that.
@@RADGaragelmao 😂
Rick you did an amazing job however I believe the coating is the problem a person should not have to fight that much for the coating to work properly
What vehicle do you think you will get next? Do you have one at the top of your short list?
I’m really stuck on that. I priced out a new SQ5 and it was $88k plus tax. It’s just not enough better than mine to justify it. The Macans are stupid expensive. I might look at something like a slightly used RS5 Sportsback. I saw a 2021 for $80k but I think I’ll be sticking with the current for a while longer.
@@RADGarage That RS5 sportback would look amazing in videos!
Hey Rick! What were your impressions on the Mafra Maniac Line products you used? Would recommend them over other products? Thanks!
Cheers!
Maniac wheel & tyre is my new favorite wheel cleaner. What dilution did you use ?
Umm, I didn’t dilute it. 🤷♂️😂🤦♂️
I will go 3:1 next time. I should’ve known when the bottle didn’t come with a sprayer.
Great Video!! Have you ever tried Labocosmetica 3pH Wash-system? primus 2.0, purifica and semper?
Brutal wash method it made my 2 year old ceramic coating really beading and sheeting again 😊
Its from the same company from the Wheel Cleaner you used.
I'm going to be applying Hydro Lite next weekend on a white BMW X5. Should be a fun project.
Nice job, Rick. How do you video with movement while you’re also washing? I’m struggling to show more camera movement in videos.
Get on Amazon and get yourself a remote mobile slider. But, it takes some getting used to!
I was wondering if you used a slider. Thanks!
@@Bruces-Garage Neewer has a lot of great toys.
Isn't what you've applied a full on hard curing ceramic?
Does look good
Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching. I hope you have a great weekend. I need to take care of my leather interior this weekend.
I have enjoyed the experiment and I fully agree that a harder coating would resist the abuse better. I have some Labo stuff incoming. 🤘
You define rad. Beautiful Audi. TH-cam's favorite SQ5. How do you like the KC SO 02 relative to CarPro's Hydr02

@@RADGarage I’ve seen both the videos my bro🤟🏻 I’m a supportive subscriber from Sydney! :)
I am very appreciative of your support and I can't imagine the difference in conditions we must face. What is the biggest challenge to maintaining a clean car in AUS?
Im in Michigan and the salt really takes a toll on any protection. I gotta get out of this state lol
It’s almost at the point where you ask yourself if maintaining the coating is more work than just maintaining clean paint.
@@RADGarage link me the one you’re using pls ?! Thank you
All products, tools and equipment used in each video are linked or listed in the video description, including the hex applicator I use a lot of the time. I also use the little brush by CarScope.
Is it per instruction to apply the waterspot remover while the car is still wet or is this brand dependent?
The instructions on that particular product do not specify wet or dry. Honestly, I can't see how a little water on the panel would make a big difference. Maybe the @diydetailofficial team can chime in.
Have you ever tried carbon collectives ultimus? I’ve heard that is a great alkaline soap to help with this. I haven’t tried it myself yet but want to
Funny you mention that. I have been chatting with the team at Clean & Shiny in the UK and I was just checking out their collection of Carbon Collective products wondering what they are like. I haven't tried, but I am liking what I am learning about them.
@@RADGarage awesome! A detail shop I communicate with often and follow in Alabama uses that soap and they swear by it!
Do you know where they source it from?
If only my Leafs played as well as you detail! 😆
As a Flames fan, I I can only dream of being 14 games above .500. Thanks for the nice compliment.
You're making me feel guilty, I haven't washed my car for two weeks now 😐
You will get no judgement from me. I know how tough it can be.
Tell me, are you using your high-pressure device at full power, or have you twisted the pressure? Thank you!
The AR630TSS is set at 1200-1400 psi.
I haven't made any decisions about this summer, but Gyeon did send me an incredible gift this Christmas so...
@@RADGarage nice! Wish Adam’s partnered with you like they did years ago. Their new ceramic/graphene line I’ve been blown away by.
I'm not sure what happened with my Adam's connection. It just kind of fizzled. I have heard only good things about their graphene coating. Like I said, I have a few options to consider between now and the Spring time.
Nice! Are you using a slider with a camera that automatically slides?
Yes. A couple of them. They are on remote. Thanks for the question.
@@RADGarage thank you. Great.
I seemed to notice a little less sheeting on the sides of your Audi, do you think the road grime, salt, affected it? It came back to life after all the processes you did.
You know I never really had an appreciation for Audis until I started watching your channel. Your car is gorgeous!!!
It was carrying a lot of iron and mineral contaminants. I think it still is. I’m going to do this all over again next weekend.
@@RADGarage I hope it works out. You are definitely putting that coating to the test.
@@SinCityDetail Thanks for the compliment on the SQ5. For a SUV, I think they really nailed the design.
Beautiful paint but these videos make me hesitant about ceramic coatings being so great.
They certainly aren’t magic. Depending on what your car is going to be subjected to, some things need to be considered.
It helped 👍
I hope it will stay unclogged for a few more weeks, but the road salt is insane this year.
I have CarPro DeScale. My car hasn’t had enough grime for me to use it yet.
I could use the whole bottle!
Спасибо, удачи, жду новые видео!!!
Как всегда великолепное видео!!! 😃👍💪✌️
Как всегда, спасибо за просмотр.
You always forget the worst part over the back licenseplate when prewash?
I can always speak to Chris personally to see if it is possible and what the costs would be.
