I just LOVE Chance's voice too. His lower register is so buttery and when he hits those high notes it's so powerful. Great song...sad video. That's Home Free tho lol...playing with our emotions in a beautiful way.

Yes Jesse, Chance really shines in this one, and he did direct this video. All the visuals are his vision of what it should look like, such as the only color is when showing things or his former partner his singing about
Well guess he’s proving himself to be an amazing director and performer. Felt like all was pretty spot-on
Chance has a totally unique voice. As a trained singer myself, I've spent a lot of time trying to work out how he achieves the effects he does. Towards the end of a phrase he relaxes the tone, allowing more breath to escape. Often this gives the impression of whispering, but can also suggest mystery, weariness or just internal thought. At the same time, when he lets the voice go, it's a beautiful baritone. I don't think many singers would take the risk of releasing the tone!
He has also brought a wide knowledge of music to the table, enriching the Home Free range of expression, and as a highly creative person he often co-directs the video. I liked Chis Rupp but Adam Chance has contributed to a new start for them.

That's a very interesting analysis. I heard someone say that his voice is suited for story telling and, if you look at his solos, they are mostly stories. He has a way of bringing the listener into the emotions of the song. The effects you mention would certainly enhance that.
@@kristindunstan172 You might enjoy Chance's version of Pancho and Lefty, which is in essence just a story, though very mysterious in parts, and where you're never sure if you can trust the narrator. Chance brings out the mystery and uses the "whisper" to stunning effect eg "And sank into your dreams" is so internalised that we start to wonder again just who is telling the story.

This is one of Home Free's sadder songs. Chance's voice is really suited to doing this type of song. I like the video too, where most of it is in black & white with only a few of the personal items that remind him of her are in color.

One of my favorites. It was written by Trace about his divorce. I love Chance’s voice, the harmonies, the video. Everything to do with her was in color, everything in the present was black and white. So well done. Love all the bass. Great arrangement. Good reaction! He also did Helplessly Hoping. I also love him in Yours but it’s rarely reacted to.
Curious in all songs tbh. Home free is a band of which i don’t know a whole lot of originals from. Not really common with Country for example. Makes me just jump into suggestions haha “rare” can be fun, you’re probably not alone in loving it hehe make a note of it!
@@JesseReacts If you want originals their Dive Bar Saints album has 10 originals and two covers. I love Dive Bar Saints, Love Me Like That (although that one might not be on the Dive Bar Saints album…I can’t remember!). 😄
This is my favorite Chance song by far. He is kinda the unsung (No pun intended) hero of Home Free.
I like him so much.. by mistake sometimes i kinda make it look like i find the rest worse haha. Not the case, however he just shined in this one.

I recently heard someone describe Chance's voice as a great voice for story telling. If you look at the majority of his solos, they are story telling songs. He has a way of drawing you into the emotions of the story. And, as usual, the harmonies are incredible.

Chance directed this video for Homefree and Jimmy Bates (who was the 3rd member in Fifgen Films) did the filming and editing. Jimmy also did Avi Kaplan's Aberdeen video.
Adam Chance on his own channel has done Driver's License with a similar style of video. Also he collaborates with The Hound + The Fox (the other 2 members of the video production company Fifgen Films that did the Pentatonix video of Daftpunk) A married couple whose son has just started on drums at a very young age. Reilly does all of the recording, instrumentation, mixing, and editing. McKenzie is the primary song writer and manager. They arrange, produce, film, and edit their own music videos and Chance's.
Chance has collaborated with them several times his "Wayfaring Stranger" was done featuring them and he is featured on their The Sounds of Silence and Soon May the Wellerman Come.

As an example, Pentatonix did all those TH-cam videos (aka couch videos) until first the Goyte cover "Somebody That I Used to Know"went viral in Feb 2012 and later the Daftpunk medley went internationally stratospheric in Nov 2013.
That reminds me. Another must have on your channel is Peter Hollens another member of this tight group of related acapella artists. Peter has a huge amount of musical content on his channel more than any of the others including Pentatonix.
One of 2 founding members of On the Rocks, University of Oregon acapella group, Sing Off 1st season. It was Peter that developed the zoom meeting style of recording that Fifgen Films then used for Pentatonix for Daftpunk and many other acapella artists use today.
He has worked with all of Homefree several times and both Tim Foust and Adam Chance separately (it's that bass thing needed for the roots of the chords 🙂). Peter also has one famous collab with Avi Kaplan done in early 2012 right after Pentatonix won the Sing-Off for Peter's first album (self titled Peter Hollens) of an old Scottish folk song, "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair" as Avi would later also do the Ring of Fire collaboration for Homefree's first album in 2014. Shot in Fifgen Films studio on Los Angeles and funded by Hollens patreon which was a brand new thing back then.
