There should be a way to dispute those toll fees especially if they don’t let you know about the initial toll cost until a ton of fees have accumulated. That’s crazy!
Contract freight goes by 1st in 1st out as well ? How does the fuel work at Mercer do you get the fuel in addition to what the load pays or is it all in with the rate ?
@@hustleman7452 everything goes 1st in 1st out. The really good paying contract loads normally come out the day of or the day before pickup. You get 100 percent of the fuel surcharge. It’s all in the rate. What you see is after Mercer has already taken their cut. To verify you can ask for a ratecon.
That was rude lol. Everyone’s business model is different. If you do 5 loads a week with an average dead head of 100 in between each load that’s 500 miles. If you dead head 500 miles to pick up one load that pays 5,000 and meets your goal gross revenue for the week. What’s the difference? They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Now if you’re in a situation where you have no deadhead or less than 50 miles in between each load I can understand your argument. Thanks for watching. I’m always willing to learn and share what little I know.
@@TuneWorld57 you can make money just about anywhere if you apply good business habits. I couldn’t tell you the numbers, but there are probably more people not making money at Mercer than there are people who are, but that’s trucking across the board right now. Those same people who aren’t making it probably wouldn’t make it anywhere. So it’s more dependent on the owner operator than the company. I’m still learning, but what I do know is the contract freight is above average and if you focus on serving the customers at Mercer you’ll do fine.
@@Smooth_Operator_83 Thats true brother , can you book freight outside of the mercers network. Like the spot market under their mc or only inside of their newtwork??
@@TuneWorld57 you can book freight outside of their network, but you have to go through one of mercers agents to do so. I tried it a couple times the hassle wasn’t worth it. What I will do from time to time is call up an agent I’ve built a little rapport with and ask them if they can find some loads in the area I’m in to connect me to my next good paying contracted load if there aren’t any on the board already. That’s hit or miss, but it does work sometimes.
@@Smooth_Operator_83 you should do a loadboadd vid on their load board to see how they are and quanity. Im runninf with jb360 but they just dont have that much freight thats whats killing me
