    Edit March 2023: The Top of Europe pass (inclusive of rides from Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch) has been discontinued from 1st May 2023 onwards.
    The Jungfrau Travel Pass (multiday) is still being offered. With this pass, an additional ticket (CHF 63/75) is required for the final section (Eigergletscher - Jungfraujoch)!!
    The local busses in Grindelwald are also now covered by the Jungfrau Travel Pass!

    Hi. Love the work you put in on the videos. is there an alternative to Berner overland pass for the winters? Because Berner overland pass is not available in winters.

    • @socalled.travelexpert
      @socalled.travelexpert  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching... unfortunately, Berner Oberland passes are only valid till Oct in 2023 (although in 2024, the validity is Apr-Dec). There is no alternative. For the Jungfrau Region only, you could look at the 3 day Ski pass (which also includes all the trains, cable cars in the Interlaken - Jungfrau Region, excluding Schilthorn).

    Edit:(Nov 2022): hi all, it appears that the Top of Europe pass validity has been updated to include Grindelwald city buses (~3:30). Thanks to Malou J for pointing out.
    Another change (~6:10) is that the Top of Europe pass now only includes one (return) visit to Jungfraujoch (instead of the unlimited rides, as in the past)☹️

      Lauterbrunnen to Wengen is cheap (15 min by train). Cheapest option for you is to buy the Good Morning ticket (if traveling in summer), and stop at Wengen on the way back down to Lauterbrunnen.

    Thank you for the tips. This will be my first time going to Switzerland in the middle of September staying for 8 days arriving in Zurich. what is the best itinerary to do? I’m thinking of staying in interlaken for 4 or 5 days because it’s in the middle of everything. I’m also thinking not making reservations on any hotels. Do you think I’ll be able to get a hotel by just walking in? I’m definitely will get a Swiss travel pass for 8 days because it’s very convenient. I really appreciate your tips and suggestions. Thank you.

      @socalled.travelexpert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks for watching my video...it is always recommended to book a hotel in advance (that suits your budget) to avoid expensive surprises later. You could base yourself in Interlaken and explore the Jungfrau Region and surrounding areas. Rather than the Swiss Travel Pass, you could consider the Half Fare card (120chf) along with the Berner Oberland regional pass (it includes a wide range of attractions around the Jungfrau Region). Another option would be the Half Fare card along with the Top of Europe pass (if you're not interested in the areas other than Jungfrau Region)

    Thanks for the great explanation sir. I am planning to visit the top of europe and I have already purchased the swiss travel pass. In your opinion, should the ticket be brought in advance or on the day trip itself?

    • @socalled.travelexpert
      @socalled.travelexpert  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Please buy the tickets for Top of Europe on the day of travel itself (after checking the weather forecast that clear views are predicted from the summit). There are no discounts for advance purchase, and if it's cloudy at the summit, you will not see anything and it will be a waste of money.

    Expertly done Mr.So Called Expert!! I will be spending 5 days based in Interlaken early September 2022......now in the process of planning an itinerary which will represent a snap shot of Swiss landscape.Therefore I am thinking of mountain/s,valley/s,lake/s(anything else yo can add?)I live in a tropical climate 365 days,so the mountains will be extremely cold for me.....packing as warm as I possibly can.What would you suggest as an out of Interlaken leisurely train ride to get a sense of the unbelievably stunning scenery this Swiss paradise offers.I will be soooooo appreciative.Thanks.

    • @socalled.travelexpert

      Thanks for your positive comments...A good daytrip from Interlaken is the Postbus from Meiringen that covers 4 passes (Grimselpass/Nufenenpass/Gotthard pass & Sustenpass- all higher than 2000m). This busride avoids the tourist crowds that you would encounter at most attractions. You can Google Swiss Postbus line 12.682 for further information.

    i'm thankful to come across this video. a couple wants to explore the Jungfrau region. we want to buy 6 days Berner Oberland Pass + Swiss half fare card. • @socalled.travelexpert
      @socalled.travelexpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the positive comment... with the half Fare card, you will anyways get a discount on the Berner Oberland pass (215chf instead of 330 CHF for the 6 day pass). However you still have to pay the 99chf surcharge for Jungfraujoch (unfortunately that is not discounted with the half Fare card). If you are only traveling in the Jungfrau Region, then you could also consider the Jungfrau Travel Pass together with the Half Fare card (only 63 chf (off-season) surcharge to Jungfraujoch and ferries on Lake Thun and Brienz included)

    I am so confused as to what travel pass to order online.
    So ill be travelling from geneve station to Interlaken by train (my stay for 2nights) and 3rd night back to geneve.
    Day 1 i plan to travel Lauterbrunnen and kleine falbodensee.
    Day 2:top of Europe and then explore grinderwald village and also grinderwald first.
    Day 3:train to geneve and boat cruise(which is covered by swiss travel pass)
    So shall i go for swiss travel pass for 3days?
    Or any other pass which covers my up n down train travel to geneve ?
    Please suggest

    • @socalled.travelexpert
      @socalled.travelexpert  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching...just a few comments:1) you don't need to buy the passes in advance. You can purchase them at any train station when you arrive in Switzerland.2) The Fallbodensee will not be accessible in April...it will still be snow covered 3) With the Swiss Travel Pass, free travel is included till Wengen and 25% discount thereafter. So it will cost you an additional (approx) 150chf from Wengen to Jungfraujoch.

      @@socalled.travelexpert Thanks a lot for your reply. We found a solution. We are a group of 6 and planning for 8 days. Comparing the accomodation price in Interlaken, the accomodation in Meringen is 40-50 % cheaper. So we took the accomodation in Meiringen. Our plan is to explore the complete Jungfrau region. We selected our travel base as Interlaken Ost. If we travel everyday Meiringen - interlaken Ost , to and fro ticket will costs a lot (13 CHF * 2 = 26 CHF). So we decided to buy Jungfrau Travel pass.
      Meiringen - Brienz to and fro ticket price is 5.20 CHF. Brienz - Interlaken Ost train line is covered under Jungfrau pass. Above all the ship journey in Lake Brienz and Lake Thun is free and also Jungfraujoch for an additional price of 63 CHF. So it seems a good deal.
