    I just want to say how amazing everyone is and how much support people have given, it's incredible. I'm determined to get the Honda Pan back on the road and safe to be able to do the charity trip. It's awesome to see the total go up for the Rainbow Trust charity, makes me feel really proud of the biking community and what we're able to achieve, so thank you.

    Got the the Bridgestone bt023’s on my 600 bandit commuter they have been ace in all weathers, I try and wash it every few days and coat everything in wd40 so hopefully it will last a few more winters!
    My Nan has supported rainbows for years I went with her one year to the open day in Loughborough to see all the therapy rooms amazing the service they provide thanks to donations!

    I bought a Pan European ST1100 in February this year, I am going away on a long trip next week and the tyres seem to quite badly squared off, ie worn more in the middle than the sides, but still plenty of tread. I decided to just buy new ones before my big trip, I’ll be off around Europe and it made sense to order them now and be done with it so I had them fitted today. OMG the difference in smoothness, quietness and handling is unbelievable. I never really knew that the tires could make such a difference.

    It looks repairable but it has to come out for a look either way. I can give one tip, fit the axle and wheel to the swing arm during the repair, a friend had a VT500 swing arm patched up a few years ago and when he went to refit the rear wheel the axle was 1" out from side to side :( so fitting wheel and axle should brace the arm and prevent distortion during repair.

    It’s a known issue with the Pan. The previous owner may have known the condition of the swingarm which would explain then bargain price.
    It is repairable.

    If I was in a better place financially I’d put in some $$$ towards the repair.
    My advice would be is to do it properly and replace it. You can the confidently sell it if that’s what you want to do.
    Here in Aussie where I live your not allowed to weld any part of the frame or swing arm without getting an engineering certificate.
    How did that pass a roadworthy or whatever you call it in the UK. Here unless your buying it as is it must have a roadworthy cert.

    • @HelmetHead
      @HelmetHead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bless ya 👍 In the UK the safety check is called an MOT but to be far the hole is well hidden out of sight plus I paid very little really for the bike. I'm hoping I can it sorted for the upcoming charity adventure 🤞

    Good luck with the weld mate. Was looking at the st1300s and they are quite cheap. How come you didnt get the 1300 if you dont mind me asking?

    Hi i have one that has been repaired that i would donate for your charity on an exchange basis if it helps?

    • @HelmetHead
      @HelmetHead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ian. That is such an amazing offer thank you so much. Coincidentally I've had an offer from someone to come and repair the swimg arm that's currently on the bike. There's one more video to come out that's only on patreon for now, but it shows what happens when I take off the rear wheel and have a better look. So hopefully this guy will be able to come along and repair it. So I wouldn't want take your decent repaired swing arm from you, if this person is able to fix mine and save you the hassle of you having my rotten one!? But if that fails, and your offer still stands when I know more that would be amazing as it would help to get the charity bike back up and running! I'm so humbled by that offer, thank you.
