Thanks Paul. Really educational and eye opening for me. Even though I have watched dozens of vlogs this is the first one that took me on such a realistic tour. Very nice to see that Baby Mae seems to be doing much better now.

Thank you for a fantastic video, the camera operator did a great job, I lived in the Philippines for 20 odd years Cebu and Bato Leyte, you bought back some fantastic memories, moved back to Australia WHERE YOU DONT KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOUR, miss the Philippines for its friendly people, and crazy traffic, and constant brownouts. but no matter how poor the people are they are always willing to help you. thank you again for the memories you bought me back to.

Your driving style is a hybrid of Western caution and Filipino optimism!
    Hahaha!
Expats warned me I would be appalled at Filipino driving.
Turned out I was both horrified and laughing my ass off. As an experienced bike rider I was shocked but amazed at the ability of Filipinos to safely navigate without stop signs nor traffic lights while often ignoring basic rules of the road.
    And without road rage.
    Definitely... an experience!
Thanks for the tour... brought back memories.
    Let me in !!!!!!

@@chrisjuricichxl5 I thought the same, after driving in Italy. I was a good driver before living in Italy for 3 years, now I'm superb. Driving was like playing dodgeball, it made you sharper, if you lived through it.

I live in Peru, South America and the driving here is pretty much the same. I often comment to the taxi drivers here when they ask about the driving in the US that the US is very organized and almost everyone follows the rules of the road since we have so many people that drive of all ages and abilities. When you have a population that almost all drive, it needs to be very organized and people need to follow the rules or things go bad quickly. Here almost exclusively late 20s and older men drive. It is quite expensive to get a drivers license ($800 to $1000 dollars) and cars are very expensive compared to what people earn so almost all cars are Taxis. Here I comment to the Taxi drivers that people need to have eyes on all sides of their heads to watch for everything that is happening or could happen at any given moment. I always get a laugh and they say it is true when I tell them if someone in the US is driving and a plane makes an emergency landing on the road in front of us we would swerve off the road and scream "AIRPLANE!!!!", but here is Peru they would just honk their horn and say something like "damn airplanes on the road these days" and keep going like no big deal. If a shark were to fall on the road in front of them, they would just comment "damn sharks" as they swerved around it - everything is expected. =)

Thanks, Paul...Your video really brought back a lot of good memories...Two years ago ...just before covid...I took a solo trip to the Philippines for the first time on a recon trip to see if I'd like to retire there ...I've been waiting to go back ever since!! I was there from February into the beginning of March and then back to the US...I spent my first week in Cebu where I met up with Reekay and V for lunch and then took the bus/ferry to Dumaguete for the rest of the month... I stayed at the Casa Ruben Hotel...owner's name was Jeb..great guy/people...you just drove past it...you also went down the Boulevard past Why Not and a lot of other places...Thanks again...your video made me feel like I was there again!!! I remember my first trip to the Philippines.. I told myself I would never drive a vehicle in this chaos 😅 Years later, I came back, discovering there is actually a system, that all drivers seem to agree to. Nobody wants to crash, that's all there is to it. Just takes a little time to get used to. Thank you for the ride, feels like being there again. Not being allowed to enter the country at the moment, this is a nice way to keep the memories alive 😊

Wow, the roads have apparently improved so much since I was last i the Philippines in 2007. From 2005 to 2007 I spent many happy months in Iloilo. At that time I got 107 pesos to the pound and rented a new ground floor apartment for 8500 pesos a month. I completely furnished it, and I mean everything, for 1000 pesos and it was all delivered the same afternoon

Great Style of explaining things as you ride Paul! Mae did a great job with the Camera and the Video and Audio was Clear! There was an American in Vungtau Vietnam that did about 16 videos of Vungtau and then he just stopped doing any videos. I would add that when he got some place like the Light House he would Video The View from there. This is the best Riding Video that I have watched about any place in The Philippines!!! I say do other Videos like this when you have the time to do so. Thank-you Paul & Mae!!! , Bob

Great video. I followed along on Google Maps, so it is really easy to have a bit of a feel for the place now. Looks like a fair bit of driving is involved to be able to take advantage of everything the area has to offer. For those retired ex-pats, gotta wonder at what point they won't be wanting to navigate the traffic as they get older and they might not feel safe driving any more. Am sure everyone gets to that point, and when they do, I guess they either have a partner or will pay someone to do all the running around for them. That's the main concern I'd have given things aren't exactly walkable. Loved seeing the Valencia market in the last video.

I miss driving around Bohol on our bike but found Bohol a bit boring after 18 months or so. We came back to Manila but do miss the island life every so often. As for Video, great to see whats around, felt sorry for Mai as there looked to be some dodgy moments but am sure you had it all under control Paul lol. Perhaps a bit long for those of us on Data Usage but we can always fast forward from time to time so wouldn't change a thing. Perhaps a few stop offs for coffee and a change of voice with Mai speaking lol. Take care and have a great weekend.

Thanks Paul and Mae for keeping it relevant. I enjoy "living in.." vids vs. live streams that can go off topic. Would like to see this series in a playlist maybe google map points to understand the road system. But without that still great.

Good to see Baby Mae back to normal! Just finished watching and didn't think of this until almost the end but i went on Google Maps and followed the last part of the tour. Made it more real and interesting to follow. Thanks again for giving us some insight on life there! I see u are well versed in offensive driving also!!

Hey Paul thanks for the video, my partner and I just spent 4 days in duma and we followed your ride, we are thinging of relocating from Angeles city, she has 3 children in high school so their are a lot of schools and uni s in duma. Our biggest disappointments is the lack of malls for such a big city, maybe thats a good thing, thanks again great video

Paul, thanks again for another glimpse into daily life ! Great tour through Dumaguete. Not too long at all, better to keep it at 1 video to maintain flow and continuity instead of breaking it up into two, can always use the pause button if you want. Would love to see more !

Loving the tours! Absolutely do more. Your charismatic narration while showing us the sites should garner more subs that you, and Mae are so deserving of. 😁👍✌💚
