American military men brought country music and the country lifestyle to Baguio. Baguio is a tropical Nashville. Both are country music capitals in their respective nations.
Yet, Baguio is growing!
Im a 70 year old grandmother and I'm loving your vlogs
My little old body has.given.up on me so i am able to enjoy your vlogs in comfort
I watched some of your vlogs last year but.tbh i found i didnt care for the click bait on your opening page. Your vlogs are superb
You are great. Just be you bc.that is enough
You have a wonderful personality. 🎉❤❤❤😂
Truthfully I enjoy his vlogs more now. On the other channel I actually unsubscribed as found there was a "freeloader" in most of the videos. Now, you can just see the passion he has for adventure and giving his viewers information.
Thank you so very much, I do hope you continue to enjoy the vlogs
Michael - you just went to the city center. Did not go to the spots which are near your place like the Botanical Garden, Wright Park, Mansion, Mines View Park, Good Shepherd, Lourdes Grotto and Mirador Heritage Park.
Its in Maharlika where you can find what your looking for so many printed Baguio City hoodies, tshirt any souveners too.
Theres a lot sir.. explore more.. ask the people where is MAHARLIKA is.. or Inside Public Market where the fresh strawberry and strawberry Jams etc. they will tell you the location. Enjoy your Stay sir.. 👍😊👍👍👍
he wont know as he doesnt know how to ask locals, he just greets them. kung nagtanong siya di sana di niya pinahirapan sarili niya. i dont get it why he didnt ask one soul about it haha
@@user-rz8jh7kt5sHe did ask people in the market at the beginning part of the video but they just pointed a place and they didn't specifically say the name of the place.
I am Mexican born in California I was in Baguio last week amazing weather , beautiful people, went to the strawberry farm and let me tell you it has California weather ifykyk!
Did you see lots of babes??
Cultural identity has such an arbitrary quality to it. You could say also that you are Asian or African. Like... all the gueritos in the U.S., "wasps"... they're all ultimately African-American. Even the Mayflower peeps... Anglo, Norman, "originating" in the steppes, but before that from Asia, but coming also ultimately from Africa, and before that, a swamp. Komusta ka, mi negrito!
That sounds good
The weather in Baguio is more like in Seattle where it is cloudy, cool, and rainy most of the year except a couple of months where it‘s dry and warmer.
I was there summer time sun comes out strong but the cloudy sky's let it hit and spread that wind 🍃
My favorite places in Baguio are Camp John hay, Cafe in the sky, and the Japanese tunnel.
i lived in Baguio for a year now and this is the perfect weather and place for those who want to retired in Phil
I live in La Union and go up the mountain at least once a month, especially to cool off when the beaches are too hot. I was getting ready to fly back to California and needed something warmer. I found a hoodie that said Baguio, sweaters, shirts, and other touristy stuff at Mines View. 2XL and 3XL. Yes, Baguio is a tourist destination but it is also a university town because of the several renowned universities located there.
For me....Baguio looks like the place to be.
It is. If you want to live in the Philippines, find a nice little house in Baguio and enjoy great climate all year round. Plus, food is cheaper.
The city itself look dilapidated but the mall and tourists area nice 😅
Majestic & relaxation of Baguio City at its finest! ❤
There's a lot of tourist spot in baguio, you havent visited yet.😅
Baguio residents take a walk uphill, downhill and all. It’s the best exercise. The weather is great!
Very Informative vid! Thanks Mike!!
Beautiful places ❤😊 of Baguio City
The hotel staff at the start of the video were beautiful! That’s the kind of Filipinas I’m hoping to meet!
Nice tour, enjoy, thanks for sharing,,😊
Excellent Video 😊.
Keep the video's comin.
Stay Safe 💕 💞 🙏 🙏
Interesting video enjoyed the tour.
Your cinematography is almost always superior to most other vloggers. Well done.
Nice market tour, thanks for sharing. 👍
The whole stretch of Session( where you saw the chalk arts) is close every Sunday for locals , tourists and artists to enjoy. Opposite of the Malcolm square is where you can find the massive collection of the souvenirs you where looking for. 😊
And yes you cannot trust Baguio weather. 1 minute its hot then another minute its cold. Hope you can explore the outskirts of the city next time.
That stretch with the chalk is the area I walked every day up the hill, now I'm more confused where this tourist shopping area is
@@ThatPhilippinesLife just across the end of that uphill road is Maharlika building, where you can find souvenir shops. The upper end is the SM, the opposite end is the place you where looking for Sir. Unfortunately, I haven't seen from the video that you entered or passed by through it😊😊😊.
Throughout my life, I’ve traveled all over the world. When I was in my mid 20s, I went to the Philippines and went to Baguio city, the rice terraces, Manila, BF homes, Cebu with a Filipino friend of mine. I have never met throughout all my travels people as friendly and as embracing with genuine smiles as the Filipino people.
Great video awesome❤
Tourists spots in Baguio City are the Night Market, Bagyo Cathedral (sessionnrd) , Weight Park, Mines View, The Presidential Mansion, Stawbeeey Fields in LA Trinidad etc...
Every year there the Pinagnenga Festival ( flower festival)
Cool
You should visit the Baguio Brewery they have great food, drink and live music!
First time I'm hearing about this! On the list for next time
Baguio is on my bucketlist for a visit. I would have to plan to visit other places as well as it is too far to go just to visit there.
Love the video thank a lot
Interesting video enjoyed the tour. Just a bit to cold for me and I would miss the beach. Thanks for taking us along
nice
For Baguio jackets, you have to go to 2nd Floor Hangar Market. you just passed by it. It was on the 2nd floor of the vegetable market. They sell clothes upstairs
wow, what a beautiful place with nice weather in the middle of the Philippines. Seems like a good place for an expat age 74 to move to and enjoy the local atmosphere. I'm starting my venture in the Philippines in Cebu in order to get acclimated to the weather there. eventually, I'd like to move to a cooler area and just explore what that area has to offer. From what I saw on your video, you just scratched the surface (I understand you only had a few days). where in Baguio is a good condo with reasonable prices fully furnished for an old geezer like me to move to. I'd like to be close to the market area, but also in a nice peaceful area with nice restaurants, entertainment, and parks. I'm a people watcher, I enjoy watching people having fun and I like meeting people. I'm a bit shy, but I love talking to people, even someone I don't know.
Sounds like a great plan, I'm rooting for your journey here!
I'm Filipino, and I would recommend Baguio for elderly expats, especially those from North America. Weather is more appealing to people from cold climates. Food such as veggies and fruits are cheap as Baguio is near the mountain farms. Coffee is good and cheap too.
The locals of Baguio (and the Cordillera region) are the Igorots and they are good in English and many of them, especially the old timers, are fond of Americans as there were many Americans in Baguio during the US colonization of the Philippines.
If you would live in the non-tourist areas of Baguio, where there are less people from other parts of the country, you would find it more peaceful as Igorots are more reserved and serious people. They basically keep to themselves and mind their own business. They are more concerned with their work.
I highly recommend Baguio for you. It's also my dream retirement place and I am from Metro Manila.
You missed the tourist spots of Baguio. Most of it are few minutes drive/ride away from the center, and it’s there where you can find a lot of souvenirs- from clothing and others.
Awesome video as always , great people I might have to go online and find that elusive Baguio sweatshirt and get it sent to you
I reckon you can pick the locals as they are the ones just wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Fascinating place Mike worthy of way more exploring later.
Trace watched! ✌🏻
I was born and raised in Baguio. When Camp John Hay was an American R&R base our family had a pass to enter and that's where I learned about burgers, fries, milk shake, and 5 cents scotch whiskey. When I was a teen in the middle 1950s Baguio then was in its splendor and considered one of the best places in southeast Asia. I went to Manila for college then to the States in 1966. Sad to say Baguio today is not the same as I know. There is overcrowding and overbuilding. A beautiful place marred by progress without planning.
Another informative video, Its gonna be nice if you can collab with some other youtubers again. Will help your channel and shows a friendly vibe. 🎉
I’ve watched this and you’re first video of Baguio. And it seems, you missed going to tourist areas, and just stayed in the city center. Souvenir shops with clothes, wood crafts, hand crafted accessories, magnets, key chains, are all available there. You could’ve gone to Wright Park (with the Mansion), Botanical Garden, Mines View Park (and Good Shepherd), Camp John Hay, Strawberry Farm, PMA, Tam-Awan village (and the Igorot Stone Kingdom), etc. Aside from this, people go to Baguio to try famous restaurants and bars. Those make Baguio popular, not just the weather.
Hi, I'm from Baguio. If only I had seen you I could have brought you to Marbay or Black Market for your jacket or shirt with Baguio City printed on it. 😊😊. I'm glad you liked Baguio. Thanks for featuring my city in your Vlog. I'm now following ❤️ your channel. Have a great stay in the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
Will be interesting to see where you eventually settle as each place you visit becomes your most favourtie place. Keep up great vlogs.
Hi Michael, I'm so glad there is someone like yourself promoting and so proud of our motherland. I thank you and hope I can be of any use on your journey. Perhaps you can stay at my empty beach house in Iba, Zambales for your perusal at no cost however long you wish to stay. Wish you well and keep up the good deeds and may you have more followers to come. Thank you, Joseph
I can relate to your review about Baguio City as i feel the same way about Niagara Falls coming from Toronto. I always love visiting Niagara Falls. So clean, lots to do and see there, lively at night but so touristy. Wouldnt want to live in Niagara Falls but a great place to get away on the weekend
Baguio is a beautiful city, were glad your enjoying your stay in the philippines
Attendance check ✔️
Thanks!
This is very generous, thank you so very much
Thank You Sir,for a short visit to Baguio, more to explore .😊❤
Definitely need more than 4 days and I suggest a car of your own. Much to be seen outside of the walking area of the downtown
Seems the mini bus at 15:18/15:19 is our shuttle bus here at the City Hall of Tabuk City. Wow! Nice!!!
Baguio climate is suited for more production of citrus fruit crops,potatoes,tomatoes,peppers...get on that !!!
❤❤❤Baguio more places to see!❤
Hi , you should have gone to Maharlika livelihood Center where all the Baguio sweater, hoodie stuffs are being sold....
Thanks buddy for your positive thoughts on The beautiful City Baguio that is....
All the best!
Baguio is one of the best places in the Philippines. The hotel you stayed in, though, is the same one I stayed in in 2017, Golden Pine Hotel. Did you have a great stay? When I stayed there in 2017, it sucked. The hallways were always dark and creepy. My room was so dated and the bathroom lacked lighting. The sink was clogged. Add to that, the people at the front desk were either unfriendly or weird. My first night in Baguio, I went out into town and past midnight I got a call from an unknown number which I didnt answer. It kinda creeped me out. The day I was to leave, I got a text from the front desk reminding me of my check out time, and I realized it was the same number that called me the first night. When I told this to the guy at the front desk, he just laughed but didnt explain to me why someone from front desk was calling me past midnight. Weird. I wont stay at that hotel again. Lots of newer and better hotels in Baguio.
Will be in Baguio on the 12th. Always love spending time here.
Determined to find a Baguio hoodie!😊
Go to Maharlika livelihood complex..
Beautiful ❤
Watching your vlog and remembering the cool temp and imagining to be there while enduring the 40 degrees Celsius down here in the island, middle of the Philippines .😅😅😅
Love it there!! Definitely at night!
My beautiful Fhilipna and I went last year! Took are 125 mio on 16 hour round trip to there!
I didn’t realize how tall some of the mountains are. Some as high as 3000 meters or 10,000 ft. It reminded me of the mountains back in California.
Was there late January to early march during most of the flower festival.
It was a longtime goal of mine to visit Baguio for the first time during the flower festival. But, with how busy & crowded it is even NOT at festival time, I wonder how difficult it is to actually see the parades well. Do you have to camp out overnight for good spots? I am not young, though in good health & strong still, but that camping out thing is not happening anymore…
nuh uh✋🏼🚫🤣
@@wintersojourn9356 its funny because i think a lot of us locals don't watch the parade either, its just too much people skin to skin from front, back, left and right. Never had i encountered so many people i know who had watched the actual parade in the entirety of their life, maybe 3 or 4 only, usually its only after the parade is done when some locals decide to go. so needless to say majority of people who watched the parade are visitors.
@regiigu960- I had a longer reply but ooops I erased it! Ty for replying🙂. Maybe I will focus on simply getting there to Baguio & not worry about festival time. That’s a plan. Yes we never tour our own areas, do we? Unless we are hosting visitors….
Seems like a survivable place in the PH for someone who detests heat. The combination of a clean city without trikes and a university town is very appealing. The only thing is that is feels fairly congested to me, no wide open spaces and as many people have observed over the years buildings have replaced trees. Not a good trend.
You're in my hometown, hope you enjoy your vacay there.i miss my country now the mire I watch your videos😊.
Iam happy and exciting of your new adventure. New subscriber here. Iam from iloilo but iam been here in California USA for 20 years plus. Reminiscing my childhood years. So nice looking forward to retire there too. God bless
Welcome! It is a fun channel & informative vlog & comment section🙂
You can easily find clothing with Baguio lettering and strawberries at the tourist sites like Mines View, Wright Park and Botanical Garden.
You find them too at some bus stations maybe?
Strawberries in Baguio grow in La Trinidad.
Michael, you should once in a while check your viewers’ comments because there are some suggestions they can recommend you to visit as part of places of interest there in Baguio City. Anyways, hope you enjoyed your tour in the city and thank you for including Baguio city in your lists.
LaTrinidad for strawberries and great fresh veggies
Baguio shirts, hoodies, all such souvenir stuffs are in the market area, close by the strawberry market too.
You can get shirt with Baguio name on it in SM souvenirs dept.
Try SM Manila.
Go to Botanical Garden, lots of sweaters there or Mines View.
hello ..thank you ..i was there last month for 7 nights ,,felt like i was in another country
If you have extra time,go to atok benguet, much colder where veggies is getting frozen in the garden.
John Hay used to be a US Air force station. Check it out. Also, air bnb in John Hay has quite reasonable rates.
What camera are you using? Thanks
Try to visit more in Cordillera, Like Atok, Sagada!
I have been to Baguio once back in 2003, Nice place its never hot there, its always Cold.. but going there ,the trip is just too far for me.Its like 7 hours going there from the city of manila.
4 hrs now with the express way
Go to minesview park or strawberry farm there are so many souvenir
When the base was in Baguio had lots of foreigners from all over Asia to play golf..Now nothing is there anymore,,base is chopped up and they have golf but not as good as before..old base hotels that are left are supper expensive for very old accommodations..maybe your next trip you can wander around more..ask the hotel staff for your hoodie..😊
Hi Bro. Those sweaters and hoodies you’re looking for are sold in tourist areas like Mines View Park, Botanical Garden, Wright Park, etc. In downtown, in the Maharlika Complex, they’re selling too, from wood crafts for souvenirs to traditional clothing, and modern shirts and hoodies with Baguio Logo. In SM Baguio, there are souvenir shops in the lower ground.
Sir u can find it at the mall souvenir items ... including clothings
Michael you need some one to hold the camera while you eat 😅 beautiful city and friendly people.
There is a department store mid town on the main street in and out.
The relatively cool air in the nation's summer capital may not necessarily be clean. Baguio City has topped a list of Philippine cities with the most polluted air, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) study. I went there many times, the traffic is really awful.
That alley way near the markets reminds me of places in Hong Kong. What is that snowball stuff?
Go to Marbay near the market
That is where the hoodies are being sold.
Greetings from Ireland 💚
Lot of similarities between the Irish and the Philippines. Both island nations. Both very Catholic, both have fiery tempers and like to drink and know how to party
….both keep a song in their heart, both luv a song with a story-usually a sad story/legend, both with many beautiful singing voices, both with beautiful, spiritual mothers & dashing, big dreaming fathers, both not afraid of hard physical work, both love to laugh - a lot, both with great hair…..🇮🇪🇵🇭
We used to spend summers in La Union by the beach when we were kids, and on the weekends, we would go to Baguio just to cool down, ride ponies, take a boat ride, eat at Cafe by the Ruins and buy Good Sheperd ube jams, some strawberry jams and peanut brittle. Great childhood memories. I heard it's gotten so crowded, but I'd love to come back one day.
Thanks for sharing that is really a great memory
Try the shops at Mines view park
❤ that city 😊😊😊.
Thank you Michael. Great video very informative. Love all your vlogs.
I see you’re looking for Baguio tshirt or sweatshirt try looking into graphic tshirt designs and have it custom made.
Sometimes they sell them in Mercury drugs or 7 /11 stores. Just some suggestions. Stay well.
I love that Mc D. They take credit cards. Mind-Boggling Those Baguio shirts? Right in Maharlika ground floor.
You can go to the opposite side across the road after the first market you went in, All the souvenir items are there,
The Baguio City hoodies and sweaters are sold on the mines view and Botanical gardens area
Isn't this high season there?
It sure isn't sleepy!
You should walk along abanao there are stores there selling sweatshirts made in Baguio
Yayks! you should have entered the area after the coffee shops at 10:41 just go ahead in that area, that is the souvenir section, you can see strawberries and snacks that are made in Baguio there, they are also selling baguio shirts in that area.
tim k the vlogger is up north luzon in iloco norte really nice places and beaches and hardly any traffic so maybe you might get there one day to do a vlog ?
We could have met,I frequently pass to that session road area usually in the afternoon and could have guided you along
That would've been cool!
I'm going there on 29th this month and stay for 3 days want to have a fresh air outside in benguet area
Hi mike try going to Malls or small shops they sell t-shirts with the print Baguio on it, try SM or Robinsons. Goodluck!
I was stationed there at Camp John Hay. Beautiful back then, they have cut down many of the pine trees now. I remember having a fire for heat on cold mornings! I married a Benguet lady!
There are souvenir shirts in every tourists spots in Baguio
One can buy souvenir jackets or sweaters usually in tourist places like Mines View Park or Maharlika Shopping Center.
