Can't agree more. Main stream journalism in this country has deteriorated so much over the last 6-7 years that I can't watch it anymore for fear my TV will end up as scrap.
It appears this woke rubbish is now being taught in journalism school and to get a qualification you basically have to adhere to the wokeness of it all.
A disgrace on our once fine unbiased media

@@roberthooker4970 Mainstream vs Alternative media, basically legacy vs internet, and most of the internet sites do not do news gathering, just use MSM reports to decode and push their own bias over the top. Rebel News and Breitbart are notable exceptions. So the term was invented and used in the early days of the internet, before "fake news" to describe what we saw on the telly and read in the papers. Blog posts tended to be more personal, but some journalist's or political activists' personal issues tended to have some news commentary.

About a year ago I brought a house off a Maori guy for $420,000 which he brought 15 years ago for $185,000.
Sounds like he violated the treaty and ripped me off, I deserve a $235,000 settlement please to right past wrongs and even the playing field.
Tried to reach out to him but he just ignored me thus erased my existence and committed genocide against my people.

The weirdest thing Michael is the government after being ridiculed by the Media is doing nothing about sacking John Campbell or anyone else, so the fact that they haven't done anything, is disturbing to the fact that they are condoning te reo and Maoridom in every facet of NZ'ERS life, day after day Maoridom getting shoved down our throats, and if nothing is visibly done, ACT could be the big winners in 3yrs.

For now, the state TV is an arms-length institution, to remove the perception of being state propaganda. Put simply they cannot, in the same way they cannot in TV3. What they can do is change the chief or longer term change the operating structure to give the government, including the Greens when they get back, more control. Otherwise they could sell it, maybe to stuff TV?

The compulsory learning of Maori can be viewed as a violation of Human/Civil rights. When teaching Maori often it begins with Karakia which is translated as prayer/ spell/incantation. The Human Rights Act states that you can not be discriminated against on the grounds of religious belief or ethical belief. For example - If you do not practice interfaith, then it is a violation of the Act.

The most important fifteen minutes of commentary on the state of New Zealand journalism.

  • @rolytnz
    @rolytnz 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Excellent commentary Michael and spot on at every point. Just out of interest I busted out a stopwatch when watching One News on Monday 12th of Feb - here's the results:
    - 15 mins at the start talking about Cyclone Gabriel - so not news, more like "olds"
    - 18.5 mins (in total) of advetisments, including the 15-30 seconds before each ad where Simon says "and coming up after the break blah blah"
    - 5- mins (or so) for the weather
    - 10 mins or so for sports, also talking covewring the Super Bowl, which was talked about in another news segement for 3 mins
...all of which leaves about 11.5 mins for actual "new" news content. All of which is recycled mix of westernised propaganda relating to Trump, Israel/Hamas Conflict, and Ukraine.
So the "One News Hour at 6pm" is not as advertised.
So yeah, agreed, between that and Newshub, the main-stream media reporting and journalism is unbalanced, lifeless, with less-than-zero substance, and where opinions have become facts.

Maorification is spread far wider than just the public sector!
This includes NZ charities...for example they spend people's donations on cultural awareness...Marae visits, karakea's and general biG Maori focus. 🤔💛

I caught a story on MSM the other day and I couldn't believe what passed as news. Apparently getting visors without te Reo on it is big news🤦‍♀️

Having read Jack Tane’s opinion piece, not only does he try to draw a tight correlation between the conditions of child poverty and those working on the breadline versus those unemployed, he is also trying to expand this ‘opinion’ onto a bleak future for those with children who may lose their jobs “through no fault of their own”. I’m don’t believe these are the people the government is even targeting - so this opinion piece is moot and appears to have been created due to a substantive misunderstanding of National’s objectives combined with a bad hair day.

Legacy media has been bought out. Investigative journalism is rare these days.

Why does he not talk about think tanks around the world? Or debt based economy? How increasing interest rates creates inflation? How should urgency be used in parliament?

The problem is they are all the same on NZ TV . radio much the same . just try calling marcus lush with a different narrative. hangs up on you . NZ is embarrassing. you have weather men ? trying to tell us how it is . jack tane is a joke . the project 4 people they needed to present? paul holmes would be rolling in his grave . Leighton smith was always open to a debate and got people thinking. NZ is a one stop shop . wokeness at all costs .
