Thirty years ago, my kids were young. I shot lots of softball. My granddaughter is now getting married. Her wedding had prompted me to pul the camera out to start shooting again. I just watched your wedding photography for first timers and now this video. Hopefully I’ll remember enough to help her plan and deal with her photographer.
Nice! I am just working on this very set up! Nice to see you work it out. I've been using a dummy for a model. A human will stop in during the next few days. So looking forward. Thanks!
Pye, love your work and your instructional style. Do you have plans to maybe shoot mens portraiture? Something along the lines of Sports Illustrated meets GQ??
Another great tutorial!! The lighting setup I did not think about using. I will try to next time I'm in the studio. Your videos are always very informative. Thank you.
Thanks yet again for breaking this down into easy to follow steps. I’m definitely inspired to try to try this setup. Kiara is such a lovely model and clearly a pleasure to work with.
Nice, love seeing what one can do with one light source thank you Pye Jirsa! Yhank you ADORAMA for having great videos like this to learn more about the great Gear available in your great store.
Very simple setup thank for share. I will try. Light in right position is better for me. In the middle the rim is too much on her hair. Have two questions what's your backdrop support for hand-painted backdrop / and how i can make this "V-FLAT" Ty.
Great video, Pye! I'm going to give this a try in my studio this weekend. Will be interesting and I'm really looking forward to doing something completely different.
Fun technique with gorgeous results, Pye! 'Tried a similar back-light-source/front-reflector set-up back in the dark ages with slide film no less. 'Still can't believe how well the images turned out. 😃
Nice work as usual Pye 😊👌🏾. You and Kiara always give us inspiration. I use this technique from time to time. Thank you for reminding us how gorgeous it can be.
interesting tuto but not obvious to have a room with such high ceiling. Why not simply using a 1x3 strip box or octabox above the head with areflector on knees or floor ?
Not too fan of the overexposition on her shoulder. Mayby it's avery good idea to use a flashmeter. The ONLY tool suitable for measuring precisely a light.
I love seeing new setups. Being a light alchemist, I try to find interesting setups that look complex but are very simple in practice. That said, since you brought attention to your shirt-I noticed how good it looks on you, but would probably look even better on me. So, instead of the typical comment asking about gear…. maybe add a link to the shirt? Yeah it’s a bit odd/creepy. But clearly, I’m not concerned about that.
I learn from your videos but sometimes you ramble a little too much and consequently make it difficult to watch an entire video. I challenge you to watch this video and note the number of times you deviate from the topic.
Hope you enjoyed the tutorial! Comment below what you'd like to learn next!

Nice job on describing how you put the shot together, I would do one thing different get rid of the long lens, not necessary try an 85mm

Great video, Pye! I'm going to give this a try in my studio this weekend. Will be interesting and I'm really looking forward to doing something completely different.
Awesome!
Love this. I've been wondering how to create a light one light mobile studio that could have flexibility and this is it!
Woww....such an inspiration, amazing job 👍
How did you build that vflat?
There's videos on how to build one, even a portable version.
Great video. Gorgeous model.

Nice work as usual Pye 😊👌🏾. You and Kiara always give us inspiration. I use this technique from time to time. Thank you for reminding us how gorgeous it can be.
Welcome! Glad you're here
Handheld at 115mm @ 1/100th on that first shot? IBS / ILS be working overtime!!
Very interesting... but we need a 3 meter tall studio ^^
How far away from the model do you need to be to use that lens?
Wow,great

💪💪💪
Can you make a tutorial to shoot fantastic portrait with a $2 torchlight?
👍👍👍👍👍
