Definitely when she read Anne’s diary and started breaking down in tears
She was genuinely sorry and ready to make things right. Was super proud of her in that moment. Her fight with Darcy is another great one!

I have a lot of favorite Sasha moments. It's hard to narrow it down, but I do have a few special moments that stand out:
      1. The "in your face twerp" and "since I got it right" moments with Sprig.
      2. Her "worst mission ever" moments in the mother olm episode.
      3. The calamity trio's friendship being repaired in the penultimate episode "All in".
      4. Sasha and Grime vs General Yunan.
      5. Sasha defeating Darcy.
      6. When Sasha first met Anne and Marcy.
      7. When Sasha let go of Anne to prevent her from falling.
      8. Sasha reading Anne's journal.
      9. Sasha deciding to join Anne and Marcy in singing "no big deal".
      10. Sasha saying goodbye to Grime.
      11. Anne, Sasha, and Marcy going off to celebrate Anne's birthday at the end of the series.

That awesome! Sasha does have a lot of great moments!
      1. The dinner party episode is one of my favorites
      2. I would probably would have to agree with her...that mission was icky...hahaha!
      3. That was such an awesome moment!
      4. I wish we got more battles with Grime and Sasha they were awesome!
      5. I'm sorry to Anne and Andrias, but that fight is the best. It just has that emotional grip. It's like the final battle between Azula and Zuko in Avatar the Last Airbender. It's not just a fight. It is the final character hurdle they have to get through in order to grow as the people they want to be.
      6. Every Temple episode is important, but the third one is probably my favorite seeing them all reunited together!
      7. Oh man, that was an emotional moment. Again one of my favorites!
      8. The was great! I just wish we would have seen her interact with the people of Wartwood.
      9. Honestly Sasha and Toadie are an underrated pairing. I'm glad he helped her feel better and have fun with her friends
      10. I know people cried when Anne said goodbye to Spring, but to be honest that didn't affect me. I was more upset to see Grime and Sasha say their goodbyes. I love their friendship so much!
      11. It is nice to see them happy and completing themselves 10 years after the events of Amphibia!
Those are some wonderful moments thanks for sharing =)

Sasha Elizabeth Waybright is definitely my favorite of the calamity trio. Despite her control issues, her manipulative tendencies, and her anger problems, Sasha has shown that she does care about her friends, she's a good leader, and she does have the capacity to learn from her mistakes. I especially like the relationship between Sasha and Grime. Before, Sasha was just a prisoner of Grime, but an incident with the giant herons caused them to be mutual acquaintances, and Grime saving her from toad tower strengthened their relationship to the point it rivals Anne's relationship with the Plantar family. Sasha's time in Amphibia did initially cause her to act upon her worst impulses, but it also forced her to do something she never did before, deal with the consequences of her actions. Back on earth, particularly on Anne's birthday, Sasha cut school, kick money out of a gaming machine, made graffiti, and even pressured Anne to steal the music box without caring about the consequences. However, in Amphibia, Sasha had to deal with a lot of consequences for her choices. At toad tower, her controlling and manipulative nature permanently affected her relationship with Anne, and very nearly cost Sasha her life. The retrieval of Barrel's Warhammer cost Sasha her friendship with Percy and Braddock, which she sadly never gets a chance to fix, her betrayal at Newtopia almost cost Sasha her friendship with Anne and played a role in King Andrias getting the power he needed to conquer Earth. After that, Sasha did want to make things right with Marcy and especially Anne. It took a lot of work on Sasha's part, but she did manage to become a better person and a better friend while still keeping the positive qualities that drew Anne and Marcy to being her friend to begin with. It was also nice that Sasha ultimately defeated Darcy, the true villain that took over Marcy's body. I honestly think that Marcy was a friend to Sasha too, even though Sasha was closer to Anne. Matt Braly even said that Sasha saw Marcy more as an equal than Anne. Sasha was understandably angry at Marcy for bringing them to Amphibia in the first place without their consent, but she still cared about Marcy, especially after Andrias literally stabbed Marcy in the back. It was Sasha who told Anne that Marcy was still alive after all. Forgiving someone isn't the same as being forgiven, and deep down Sasha wanted to forgive Marcy, but it wasn't that easy for her. Thankfully, Anne helped Sasha with that, but I will never forget the sad look on Sasha's face when Darcy said that she and Marcy were never really friends. That's one of the reasons why Sasha had to rescue Marcy and defeat Darcy, to save her friend, along with proving she had changed as person. It was also nice to see Grime not only save Sasha from Darcy, but to play a pivotal role in Sasha's victory against Darcy. I love Sasha's growth in the series, how her friendship with Anne and Marcy is better than before in spite of the changes in their lives pushing them in different directions, and I like how Sasha used what she's learned to pursue a career as a therapist in the future to help children overcome their own issues. I also loved the goodbye scene between Sasha and Grime. They tried to act tough and professional, but they couldn't hold back their emotions or their tears.
Great character analysis video for Sasha. I am honestly surprised that you didn't go into details about Sasha from Marcy's journal that actually explained Sasha's manipulative and controlling issues. Even the Christmas episode hinted why Sasha had her issues. Maybe you could do a follow up video for Sasha. I hope you do more character videos for Amphibia. I also honestly think it's fun to say the whole title for the great general Yunan, scourge of the sand wars, defeater of Ragnar the wretched, and the youngest newt ever to reach the rank of general for the great Newtopian army. It even inspired Sasha and Grime to have their own titles.

Thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts down! Sasha is a very unique character that I truly appreciate. She aligns with characters, like Azula, who most see as crazy and manipulative. Sasha's journey changed the game for people with a commanding personality. Because Amphibia showcase the strengths and weaknesses of a character like this. Even when she does something bad, or immature I never once disliked her. I was more like "Hey Sasha that's uncool." But I never hated who she was. Sasha grows from her journey, but most importantly she learns from her mistakes. Which is a big lesson for anyone to learn. I'm glad they took the time to develop her in the way they did.
I wanted to tell the story from Sasha's perspective and her story alone. That's why I excluded Marcy's journal. I didn't want other characters influencing my thoughts about her. I will be making videos for both Anne and Marcy in the future, so maybe we'll explore those facets on another day. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts =)

@@CinemaOverAnalyzed I just had a lot to talk about when it comes to Sasha Elizabeth Waybright because she is my favorite of the calamity trio, and I could see why Anne and Marcy took a liking to her when they met her. She may have had bad qualities, but there was good in her. Also, even if you didn't use the information we learn about Sasha from Marcy's journal, the Christmas episode did imply why Sasha was the way she was. The journal just confirmed and expanded on it a bit, which is important when talking about Sasha's character, especially considering such a drastic change in Sasha from when she first met Anne and Marcy, to Anne's 13th birthday. I honestly can't wait for the inevitable Anne and Marcy character videos, and maybe even character videos on the Plantar family, Grime, Andrias, Yunan and Olivia, as well as maybe the inhabitants of Wartwood. Hopefully there will be a follow up on Sasha that includes the information on her from Marcy's journal.

    Wow this review was great:
19:28: One thing I loved about Sasha v.Darcy is Sasha getting a chance to fight her own narrative opposite with Darcy. Darcy is like Sasha at the start of the show a toxic power-hungry manipulator, who is a toxic influence on Andrias, like how Sasha was to Anne. It gives Sasha a chance to fight a dark what if snerario if Sasha didn't decide to grow, and didn't realize that power isn't everything.

I feel like Sasha vs Darcy is a very important fight for both Sasha and Marcy. Sasha is battling her past self. Darcy is the version of Marcy that wants the confidence to lead like Sasha. For both characters, it's no easy fight and I appreciate that!

  • @ghepri7470
    @ghepri7470 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Very nice analysis indeed. Not so often we see the "mean girls" (which Sasha was in the beginning) as a genuine friends of a more traditional main character. And "Amphibia" gives us a really interesting view on their relationship. My favorite part is that Sasha's skill of leading (and the will to do so) was never presented as something bad or a thing she needs to get rid of to be a good friend and person. Moreso, the whole "Commander Anne" episode was there to show that she is at her best when she is in charge and even Anne, who previously suffered from Sasha's domineering behaviour, sees her as a natural leader.
Sasha's friendship with Grime is another great thing that also has a big importance in her change and redemption arc. Both of them aren't very nice people to say the least, but they suits eachother really well and friendship with the one-eyed toad allowed Sasha to see that she can be friend with someone on equal terms.

    • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
      @CinemaOverAnalyzed  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Really love that it takes the common "mean girl" trope and flips it on its head. Showcase the strengths and weaknesses of a character like this. Unlike other media where the "mean girl" gets what's coming to her, like Azula or Regina George. Amphibia lets Sasha fail early and fail often to become the person she wants to be. Having someone like Grime helps because it feeds into her impulses to control everything. But when Wartwood is in trouble she stands her ground. Pushing Grime and herself to change for the better. Both are great partners in crime, but they know how to call one another out when one of them is being unreasonable.

I'm a little late to the party, but thank you for making a true Sasha redemption/review video without any of the bias that purports her.
Sasha is an oviously complicated character. I understand why there is so much Sasha hate, but I feel it often overshadows her growth process. I.e the blonde psychopath comments.
A quick defense for her. Did Sasha aim to slaughter a frog kid? Yes. Was it wrong? Yes. BUT I'd like to direct the attention to the very last school moments before being zapped to another planet. Anne and Sasha were about to disect frogs. A frog that looked just like Hop pop. A frog that her teacher, a figure of authority, 'squeaked' in her face. Hence the 'squeaky toy' comment. It's not entirely fair that people judge her for saying "they don't matter."
Now on the subject of Marcy. I disagree that they are simple acquaintances. I think they had a very distinct power dynamic pyramid within their friendship. She takes care of Anne, Anne takes care of Marcy. Marcy though is not completely an outlier, as stated when Sasha has genuine admiration in her statement in the 3rd temple, "trust Marcy to already have a plan." She respects Marcy in a way that she never respected Anne. This is further proven when the principal says BOTH Sasha and Marcy put Anne up to the prank, subtly stating that both of them are usually the ones in charge. They compliment each other in mischief and brains. Also. That shameful look when Darcy said they never were friends...come on. How can anyone look at that scene and think Sasha didn't care about Marcy.
My favorite Sasha moment is the very first time we meet her. Like you said loyalty means everything to her. And she reciprocates that as well. The first time we see Sasha we find out she lied to Grime in order to protect her girls. Even without knowing if they were zapped there with her, her first instinct was to basically say Its just me myself and I. That is 100% someone that cares about her friends. Also...the moment she pulls out the polaroid. Genuine love and care, before she mask it with control.
As a final note I just wanted to state that I truly believe her redemption arc started all the way back in barrels hammer. Turning point was just the peak.

Sasha would make a good therapist for Azula and Draco cause being a former manipulative control freak she's been where they were. A leader at the top of her game only to lose it all when stood up to and facing a force bigger and badder than her. I can only imagine Azula on the couch talking to sasha "then the fool tells me she loves Zuko more than she feared me." Sasha would say, "My friend did the same thing to protect a little frog she only knew for a month which in a way saying she loved him more than she feared me." To me Sasha Elisabeth Waybright is/was the biggest reason why I wanted to finish Amphibia the most cause In season 2 She started to gain more of my attention and wanted to see more of her struggle with her flaws and her willpower to survive. Personally i related to her more than Marcy in my opinion. Or rather connect to her moreWhile my complaints about season 3 aside I enjoyed seeing her redemption in Season 3 and honestly I'd say she'd need a spin off or comic series depicting her time in Amphibia especially after Turning Point, which is why I had to satisfy myself with fanfics as the closest thing to getting that.
I really wished we had more episodes of her in the first half of Season 3, getting more into her head about after the events of True Colors and Marcy. And if Matt could've given more light to her troubled family history on the show and being a child of divorce People would have easier time understanding why Sasha is the was she is. Plus her pessimism and sarcasm towards other characters seemed to ground me mopre to her character.
I really enjoy that despite the dark edge to her character she genuinely does care about others Anne and Marcy. To me when characters who are more "serious", "edgy" or more prone to anger show moments of vulnerabilty and warmth it's much more endearing to me. Like a beautiful flower revealed under a circle of weeds, or at least the best simile I can compare to.
