I love Anne Savisa Boonchuy and Marcy Regina Wu, but my favorite of the calamity trio is Sasha Elizabeth Waybright. I love that she's brave, strong, fierce, cunning, and a capable leader. Sasha even cared about Anne and Marcy, despite her darker tendencies of being manipulative and controlling. In fact, in the earliest flashback involving Sasha, she had heroic tendencies by standing up to bullies for Anne and Marcy before they even became friends. Despite her friendship with Anne and Marcy having somewhat sincere beginnings, Sasha ultimately ended up not being a good friend to them by the time the 3 girls were sent to Amphibia. While the series only hinted at it, Sasha is implied to come from a family that was both rich and divorced. In both media and sometimes in real life, when people especially children are placed in situations outside their control, they tend to try hard to take control of things they feel they can control, especially if it matters to them. It may not justify Sasha's negative tendencies, but it does explain them. Sasha's controlling and manipulative nature, as well as her rebellious act of breaking the rules, do come across as a teenage girl acting out. She's even shown some resentment towards Anne for having loving parents, as shown when Sasha tries to convince Anne not to go to the birthday party Anne's parents set up for Anne. I honestly felt that Sasha was hard on Anne in particular because she had what Sasha subconsciously wished she still had. Even though Sasha was not a good friend, it didn't mean that her friendship with Anne and Marcy didn't matter to her, otherwise she wouldn't have fought so hard to control it and keep it. Also, while Sasha did play a role in Anne stealing the calamity box by pressuring her to do it, Marcy may have also encouraged it too. When all 3 girls were sent to Amphibia, whether by coincidence or by design, they were sent to where they needed to go, for their own sake, as well as for the sake of the Amphibia inhabitants they would bond with.
Sasha was sent to the toads and captured, but despite that, she quickly adapted to her situation and used her manipulation tactics to befriend some toads and undermine the authority of Grime. When in a life threatening situation, Sasha proved herself capable to Grime and led to the two becoming mutual acquaintances. Being with the toads, especially Grime, enabled Sasha to act on her negative tendencies, but at the same time, even if it was unintentional and even unnoticeable to Sasha, she had been slowly influencing Grime in a positive way. By the time Sasha met up with Anne, she had changed for the better, with Sasha herself changing for the worst. Their friendship would never be the same, but Anne and Sasha still cared about each other, enough for Anne to try to save Sasha, and for Sasha to nearly sacrifice herself to save Anne. However, Grime saved Sasha's life, which would ultimately strengthen their relationship into an actual friendship. With her friendship with Anne up in the air, Sasha really needed Grime, and when Sasha found out that Anne and Marcy were working together without her, this made her angry and made her double down on her need for control, which cost her the friendship of Percy and Braddock. This not only was a consequence that Sasha had to live with, but it also showed what could potentially happen with her friendship with Anne and Marcy if Sasha wasn't careful. In fact, it almost did. It also further showed that Sasha needed her friendship with Anne and Marcy more than they needed their friendship with Sasha. After reuniting and going through the trials of the 3rd temple, I honestly don't think that Sasha was entirely lying. More like half truths because of the look of guilt she had when thinking about what she was going to do. Sasha didn't want to lose her friendship with Anne and Marcy, but at the same time she still couldn't let go of her need for control which ultimately led to her losing Anne's trust when it mattered most. Not to mention that Sasha felt betrayed when it was revealed that Marcy knew that the calamity box would send all 3 girls to another world and wanted it to happen. Sasha was in the unique position of knowing what it's like to betray and be betrayed.
Fortunately for Sasha, seeing the consequences of her actions made her want to make things right by trying to save Amphibia and fix her relationship with Anne and Marcy. Sasha ultimately became the heroic leader that she was always capable of being. I honestly loved Sasha's redemption and how Grime was with Sasha every step of the way. Grime remains the only friend who never turned his back on Sasha and who Sasha didn't push away, showing the positive effect that Sasha had on him and how they needed each other. They were a great team to the point where Sasha couldn't have defeated Darcy without Grime's help. I am especially glad that Sasha made things right with Anne and especially Marcy. Sasha may have been rightfully mad at Marcy, but deep down, she did want to forgive Marcy. Forgiving someone isn't as easy as being forgiven, but it is worth it as Anne herself was able to point out to Sasha. With their friendship saved and even working together to save Amphibia, the calamity trio said goodbye to their Amphibia counterparts. My personal favorite goodbye was Sasha and Grime's goodbye. They tried to play it off as professional, but they just couldn't hold back how much they meant to each other and how much they would miss each other. Sasha even wanted Grime to make things right with Percy and Braddock, something that she clearly regretted not being able to fix herself when she had the chance. I especially loved how even though their friendship was strengthened by their experience in Amphibia, Anne, Sasha, and Marcy still drifted apart due to life's changes, but in spite of that, they still remained friends with their friendship better than before. I loved Sasha's character arc from start to finish. This was a great character analysis video for Sasha, and I can't wait for the character analysis videos for Anne and Marcy.
Yeah sasha is my favourite character and her relationship with captain Grimes is priceless

I started hating Sasha until I got to the episode "Turning Point". Now after rewatching the show I've come to really love Her as a character

I love how Anne only fights against Sasha when someone she loves is threatened. I've always believed in the saying- 'It's always different when you're fighting for someone you love'. Because us, humans... we build bonds to survive. In a way, we are a pack species. The pack who we choose to survive with, can influence us. At first, Anne and Marcy chose to hang out with Sasha. At the time, she was controlling and downright emotionally abusive towards the two. However, when they got separated in Amphibia. They all got a different pack per say. Anne got to be cared for and protected by Wartwood, and she did the same in return. She learned what a real non-toxic relationship between her pack can be. Marcy ended up in Newtopia, a place that respected her and shared her nerd-like personality. She learned that- even with her flaws- a pack supports each other's interests. Sasha ended up in a place that originally encouraged her toxic mentality. But later after the army abandoned her and Anne stood up to her, and the last two toads gave up on her. She learned only those who she treats as equals will stay with her in the end.

Very nice and thorough analysis of the path and changes of our favorite blonde mean school princess/Toad Tower's first lieutenant/Resistance leader! At first I was thinking of her as more generic character - just another school bully that the heroine must confront to gain self-confidence. But I was pleasantly surprised as she managed to be much more competent villain and more sympathetic person at the same time. She is an amazing character and, like the rest of the Trio, her flaws weren't written as something independent from the rest of her personality but as logical extension of her strong sides.

Personally, I think Sasha's thing was she was always the main character in her own story. It's how Ann and Marcy met her with her doing the whole "Hero of justice" thing getting them back the swings. I sort of imagine she met the two AFTER her parents already divorced, and while she was genuinely in her being their friend, she was also still sort of the main character in her mind- Ann was weaker willed and Marcy was a bit of a space cadet in terms of the here and now, and so Sasha just sort of became the head of the group naturally. That's also kind of why her conflict happened- cause she knew she had been a bad friend, and yet Ann was still trying to save her life, at the risk of her own (you notice that Sasha was aware the tower was giving out under Ann and the planters feet, and either Ann let go, or they would ALL fall- and Sasha genuinely thought that was the end she deserved at the time. Since it WASN'T her end- she sort of didn't really know what she wanted after that, since she still had the "Main character" mentality and didn't want to change that, while at the same time she knew that going about it the way she did was toxic..

felicidades, esta es una de las explicaciones que hacen faltan y no solo vanagloriar a anne en amphibia, como todos siempre podemos empezar mal y no ver el daño que estamos generando, lamentablemente sasha tuvo que sentir la perdida de por quienes ella se estaba esforzando en reunir a sus amigas en true colors, marcy tecnicamente estaba muriendo y anne volvio al mundo humano, solo le quedo grime que es mas como un guia que como un amigo (cosa que en all in cuando pierde el brazo salvando a sasha le confiesa que tomo la inspiracion de sasha a tener un objetivo)
