Finally, with this character analysis video of Anne Savisa Boonchuy, the collection of character analysis videos for the calamity trio is finally complete. I do love Anne and how her time in Amphibia has changed her mostly for the better, with a bit for the worse. Before Amphibia, Anne was a bit of a door mat, doing things that she didn't necessarily want to do, as well as being irresponsible and not thinking about the consequences of her actions. She was even had a misguided view of friendship where she felt she had to do things for her friends to keep her friends, which most likely came from her relationship with Sasha. All that changed when she came to Amphibia, and especially when she met Sprig. When she chose to help Sprig of her own accord, this started their friendship, and even showed that Anne could be more than just irresponsible or a pushover. Not just Sprig, but Anne's time with entire Plantar family helped her become a better person and even discover the type of person she does want to be. However, Anne did develop a new character flaw that came with her new change, her explosive anger. When Anne tended to get angry, particularly with betrayals, it came out in explosive bursts, most likely due to not speaking her mind for so long before her time in Amphibia. Sometimes it was necessary when she needed to stand up to Sasha in Reunion for her own sake and the sake of the frogs of Wartwood, particularly Hop Pop, but sometimes Anne took it too far such as trying to kill Sasha during True Colors even if she was right to be angry at Sasha for betraying her after she gave her another chance. Not to mention that Anne ultimately was the one who gave Andrias the calamity box, choosing not to trust Sasha's warnings after her betrayal, learning too late the consequences of such a decision. However, despite her flaws, Anne really is a good person at heart, which was shown from the start of the series, and emphasized throughout her change in the series. I was glad that she could forgive those close to her that betrayed her like Hop Pop, Sasha, and Marcy at her own pace, and that she could help Sasha forgive Marcy. Anne really was the true hero of Amphibia, as she defeated Andrias during the earth invasion with help from Sprig, and ultimately defeated the core for good, even though Sasha was the first to defeat the core as Darcy while saving Marcy. What was sad was that Anne had to die to save Amphibia and it doesn't help that the series and Matt Braly left Anne's resurrection ambiguous. I personally think that Anne was resurrected in a different body. Anne's last words in the series did have a profound impact on me personally as she not only emphasized the theme of change that the series was about, but it shows how even when changes can cause people to drift apart, the bonds formed can still remain, and people can even find their way back to each other. Anne's goodbye to the Plantar family was definitely the most emotional and meaningful of the goodbyes during the finale, especially Anne's goodbye to Sprig. Anne's bond with her second family, the Plantars will last beyond any changes in her life. I was also glad that despite the changes in their lives, Anne Savisa Boonchuy, Sasha Elizabeth Waybright, and Marcy Regina Wu were able to patch things up and be better friends than they were before Amphibia. Thus their Amphibia adventure ends the way it started, with them getting ready to celebrate Anne's birthday together, even with an updated best friends forever photo with Anne in the center. I love Amphibia!
In my humble opinion....both Adora from She-Ra and Anne from Amphibia are the absolute best examples of who to write, amazing FEMALE LEADS protagonist that are flawed, makes ton of mistakes, care deeply about their family and friends, represent what a good person is, are mega powerful but not mary sues, can win and lose equally, and at the end of their journeys you feel how much they change not only themselves but the people around them.....Amphibia become my second favorite modern cartoon after She-Ra Princesses of Power and even ahead to Gravity Falls in some regards, I love Owl House but Luz and the show just feel like way behind Amphibia in literally everything, not helping that they were very similar in plot and even some events, but Amphibia did them all first and in my opinion way better. As always another amazing analysis.
I think smth i love (but makes me cry) is the fact that in the epilogue the calamity trio dont stick together. They grow apart and find new friends and cliques but that doesnt change their genuine love and care for each other as proven during their reunion
16:30 I will give you that Anne won her first fight with Sasha, but the second fight is not nearly that clear-cut. The only reason Sasha didn't 'win' atop the gates of Newtopia was because she was constantly holding back because her goal wasn't to win the fight, it was to convince Anne to trust her. Sasha has her dead-to-rights immediately before the shot that you freezeframe, but she just tries to pin Anne in place and talk to her rather than aiming to disable her, which is what Anne is doing the whole time.
19:05 An extra message for the letter to the Wu family: "P.S. By the time you are reading this PS, it gives me a heart-breaking word to say, please... please don't separate Marcy away from us. Because even if you did, not only would you be breaking your own daughter's heart, you'll also be breaking the most important and very special part of her whole life, her friends, namely Sasha and myself. If you would reconsider calling the move to Hopkinton off for good and staying in Los Angeles with us, it would be really great to see just how happy Marcy can truly be. So please, in your heart, let Marcy stay with us forever. In honour, it would be the best Christmas present Marcy, Sasha and I could ever hope to dream of." Sincerely with hope, Anne Savisa Boonchuy.
@@dumdumbb Yuh-huh. I don't like seeing the Calamity Trio being split up if Marcy moves to Massachusetts. How can Anne and Sasha stop Marcy and her family from moving away and letting her stay in Los Angeles with them?
I love Anne. I relate to her so much. She doesn’t know what she’s doing and and tho she does grow, she always stays goofy, compassionate, loyal, brave and forgiving. I think something people don’t mention a lot is that Anne didn’t actually need Sasha to defend her, Anne is nearly as head strong as Sasha but knows who to put her stubbornness aside for the people she loves. Sasha manipulated Anne into thinking she needed her, because even when we see her being harassed back home she still fought back. She just has a big heart and doesn’t want to loose the people she cares about. Marcy had also been mistreated but she didn’t care because she just wanted to live in her own world and have fun. Marcy also doesn’t like confrontation because we never see her confront anyone, especially over her feelings of not being understood. So if anyone was doing the protecting, it was Anne. Constantly looking after Marcy physically and later mentally, making sure Sasha didn’t do the same thing to Marcy. Also what I didn’t like about season 3 is that 1. Anne did not seem affected hardly at all after thinking sprig died, being lied to by Marcy AND Sasha, and seeing Marcy get STABBED. 2. Her personality seemed kind of boring, her lines were dry, and the drama felt forced. And for other small reasons aswell.
Wow. This is the perfect guide to Anne and why she’s so amazing! Anne’s one of my favorite fictional characters of all time and her growth helped and inspired me so much. Go Anne!
And yet another great analisys of one of the Calamity Trio! Since Anne is a central hero of the story and has much more screen time compared to Sasha and Marcy, it's no wonder than she also has a good number of seemingly filler episodes where she is just goofing around. But I like the idea that these episodes is some kind of meta-commentary about Anne's nature as a goofball with a hidden depths😀. Overall I like that Anne's kindness and compassion were there from the beginning and she always tried to help others, even if in an unhealthy way like in S1. But I still find it quite strange that she was much more ready to forgive Sasha after her return to Amphibia than after their second reunion in the Third Temple.
I did feel like the random episodes was more so used to explore the world and Anne/planters as a person while giving small development of the aspects highlighted in those episodes, under that context I loved the focus on those over the calamity things coming sooner then they did
@@yep1486Personally I’d feel that it became sort of problem in Season 3 when Marcy and Sasha’s character arcs were kinda ignored for the first half of season 3. Since we mostly had the iconic episode for them (Turning Point and Olivia and Yunnan)
23:24 I think the heroic sacrifice is good, from a writer’s perspective. The protagonist who is willing to sacrifice their life because if they don’t, people will either get hurt or die, but also it’s because they don’t want to die but everyone’s death is inevitable. Might as well die doing something good.
Personally, I think the fact there's so much what we'd call filler in Amphibia doesn't matter to me because they are so hilarious and tightly written for an episodic nature, but I can get the frustration of those wanting more plot and profound moments. But some of the filler episodes really do have some of the best character moments in the show, honestly. Like, yes, people may want this from the show, but the fact it's light-hearted and fun and being a kid's cartoon doesn't make it poorly written or worse off for it. Edit: I really do feel missing out on what Marcy did to break her trust was a missed opportunity. Like we forget how messed up Marcy's actions were, even if she had her reasons, she was just as manipulative as Sasha honestly.
I actually started watching it bc oh look cute little colorfull frogs, I enjoyed the first season and dind't even know I was being BLESSED with lore and storytelling. I love the first season even more now that I finished the show bc I can see my little babies goofy and happy together again T-T
I could definitely see some good avatar the last airbender videos dedicated to each of the characters, they’re all so amazingly developed and interesting
Ngl I think the main reason she’s so good is that every so often the show has “landmark/milestone” moments to very very clearly show how much she’s changed for the better. A lot of shows for whatever reason seem to have trouble showing that a character has changed and they just sort of say/imply that it’s happened or it happens all of a sudden and feels forced. The gradual, slow, even-paced kind of growth she has is exactly the kind I’m a sucker for lol
Anne is such a refreshing protagonist unlike the other female protagonists (luz and molly). I like her as character and character development.
HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE LUZ!?
I love Anne but i still enjoy Luz and Molly😊
Anne i thought she was a terrible protagonist
@@YoissTower well, we're all entitled to be wrong sometimes

Unlike Luz, Anne didn't commit mass genocide for feeling "isolated"
