Yeah. It’s only 2 years late.I was on that line seeing them for the first time. A great show. Why is this video from a Fox Channel that only release it now?
If anyone out there hasn't checked this band out yet, do not let the maid outfits fool you. Their musicianship is top notch, and songwriting borderline miraculous, in that virtually no song is skipped when I listen to them. They're very uplifting even when going very hard. They are hard rock, but meander in and out of genres in a way that we're not used to here - it keeps every song from getting stale, so very re-listenable. They can also get quite technical and complex (Check out Giovanni, From Now On and Black Hole.) Mostly though - they brighten my day every day. During the worst of COVID, they were a great mood lifter in our collective time of need. So give them a try - they've been around for a long time, so have a zillion songs, with many different styles and sounds. They will brighten your day, and maybe your life.
Yeah.. nearly skipped them early 2019 or so? Saw the name and foolishly asumed it was some generic Jpop/rock. Then I saw this thumbnail of a girl with dark hair, black dress and a big 5 string Fender-style bass. Thought: "Why not?" and got gobsmacked when she was popping and slapping the bass! LIVE!! Ridiculously talented band!
A few years ago, TH-cam showed me a thumbnail of two girls in maid outfits holding guitars, and I thought, 'There's no way I'm watching that,' so I ignored it for about two weeks. But two weeks later, I finally gave in and clicked the thumbnail-and my life completely changed.
Kudos to Fox *5*, but I still gotta say, "What took so freakin' long?" Ten years Band Maid has been knocking it out of the park, creating an awesome new genre all their own, with hard rocking bangers and tender sweet ballads to the music scene, inspiring a gazillion YT reaction videos, and just now getting some serious recognition? I think the US music companies are scared of these petite Japanese maids who kick it harder than 99% of US bands today. Move over copy and paste bands, these girls are the real deal and can outplay anyone with their instruments. It's time for radio to stop playing the same old top 40 over and over ad nauseam, get over prejudice of the lyrics being a mix of Japanese and English, and give this band some well-deserved airtime. For those who are being introduced to the Band Maid, don't be put off by Saiki's shy demure expression during the interview. She's a powerhouse as lead singer. I wouldn't be surprised if all the girls were exhausted and perhaps interviewed early in the morning or late at night.
This interview took place before sound check and personally I think the ladies were just alittle nervous being interview by a large news outlet. But at the end of the interview I think they were relaxed knowing that I was not only a reporter but I was a fan. I am just hoping that this interview will get them some new fans and show an audience that never heard of them to see what they will not see from any other major news organization.
Do yourself a favor. Pick any popular video and you'll understand why people who love music and musicians adore this band. Humble yet powerful. Hard rocking yet so diverse. Creativity and wit, just like their clever name.
5 top tier musicians in one band, doesn't seem fair does it? But after 11+ years and over 100 songs to their credit they are still running with the same lineup, very little to no ego there, none of that rock star ego crap about 1 person carrying the band, all that matters is their friendship and the music, that was a fine interview
For perspective on BAND-MAID’s progression. After three years as a band they were finally allowed to release their first self written songs. They had to clean their own combat clothes after performances. Wireless connections have been added to the guitars. MAIDIT is now the management company name for being self managed, making them virtually autonomous. Congratulations from a life long Maidiac.
I was at that show on 10/28/22 and it was an amazing experience, which I repeated two days later at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey, and once again in 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee. I'm 77 and I hope they come back while I'm still able to enjoy the experience. They are true ambassadors to the globe with their music and tremendous energy.

I honestly don't think that America truly understands how cool this band is. They are all true musicians, incredible individuals and Amazing at what they do. Although I luv'd hearing them in this interview, the questions asked of them were very basic and they answered in kind. I would luv to hear a translated Japanese interview of their experiences of their American tour, once they get home. The actual talent in this band is off the charts! I know their answers here were very guarded and safe. I would actually LOVE to hear TRULY what they thought of their American tour. We do have steak ;) ... but we also have millions of fans here that think you are the best band that we have ever heard :D
I agree I would love to do a follow up interview and ask a lot more in depth questions on there experiences with the US fans. The purpose of this interview was to introduce this amazing band to an audience that has never heard of them. I think as a basic introduction this was fine, but to the fans it comes across as very basic. I am hoping that when the band sees the responses to this interview they will be excited to sit down again. Thank you for your comment.
I am a Japanese rock fan who has loved KISS and Aerosmith since I was a child, and I am really proud that Band-Maid, a Japanese girl, is now so admired in the United States, the home of rock, where KISS and Aerosmith were born. They are the best rock band ! You wanted the best , you got the best , the hottest band in the world , Band-Maid!!! 😄😄😄
If anyone can be "open" and "guarded" at the same time, it's Band Maid. It's a huge and often scary world out there, but these ladies ooze with sincerity and talent. If any one can achieve World Domination on their terms, it will be Band Maid ! ❤️
I am a big fan of Band Maid from San Francisco, California USA. I think Band Maid is one of the new wave of hard rock that keeps this genre alive. They are one the best and at the top of their game. IMHO, they possess the same qualilties of a group like Guns N Roses over 30 years ago and are making an impact on a similar level. Audiences outside of their home country are embracing them and this appearance on a NYC station is an extremely important aspect of that growth. Thank you for having them on.
Thank you. The Ladies of Band-Maid are five of the most hardest working, polite and genuine women in music currently. They are an example of dedication, skill and talent. And I thank the Creator every day for bringing them and their music into my life. Their music has reignited my own love of music, which had been buried under years of pap from "Top 40" radio stations. They opened my ears and my eyes to music from all over the world. Thank you Miku, Saiki, Kanami, MISA and Akane.
Band Maid🎀the greatest band on earth. These ladies never sweat, they just ooze talent! They blend pop, punk, jazz, prog, rap, rock, metal, and blues together seamlessly, producing a sound that is...unique! I love this band soooo much!!!😸
I get to know BAND-MAID thanks to The Warning and what a awesome band they are. They are so talented in each of their instruments. It would be incredible if I ever have the chance to attend one of their shows 🔥🤘🇨🇴
I love it when they say, "we will try to do our best". It's that attitude, individually and as a group, that is so genuine and honest, the frosting on the cake of genius music. Makes me Love Band Maid more. ❤
For months during the COVID episode I treated the TH-cam suggestion as " a gimmick band " - - - Then I heard Thrill through my system and hit pause - then wound up the volume and hit play ! Sold in ten seconds, have almost every track from day one on my phone/PC - I just wish they would drop in to the UK on thier way back to Japan..... I don't mind saving up to travel to Japan - but the thought of missing out on a ticket in a lottery is depressing.... Together with Nemophila, and Bridear (( who I saw live here in the UK two years ago )) they represent the crisp clean rock music I appreciate most, too many (( Male )) bands preach about their drink or drug addiction and personal lifestyle failures as if we haven't heard that for the last fifty years or so .... Love them to bits !
Babymetal was here in Brazil this week, 10/20 and 10/21, we never imagined that one day this could happen, now our biggest dream would be for Band-Maid to come to Brazil. We are anxiously waiting for that day. Brazil loves Band-Maid very much.
Surely band-maid follow the path of Babymetal. It's because of Babymetal that I know band-maid. Babymetal opens the international doors for Japanese band.
Finally we can watch the interview... better late than never! lol As usual i love how Miku manages the interview and do basically all the talking. She's clearly the boss pigeon ぽ Ps: props to Ryan Mear for being able to ask a question for Kanami without fainting in the process, i don't think i would have been able to do it lol
I'll be seeing Band-Maid for the 9th and 10th time next month in Japan. Was fortunate to be able to see 3 dates each on their 2022 and 2023 U. S. tours, plus the 10th anniversary tour finale in Yokohama and Day of Maid concert in Tokyo this May. My favorite band and a fantastic talented, creative and fun group of musicians. I wish them every success, they deserve it. World domination, po!
awesome! Good to see this finally go public, thanks for your hard work on this, love it as i told you the first time I saw it and was fortunate enough to get to provide some early feedback on it! Thank you for trusting me to be a part of this epic interview video. :)
Thank you to everyone who made this happen. No real revelations, but all Band-Maid is good Band-Maid. They are my favorite musical group of all time, as everyone who knows me is tired of hearing lol! It's not just the music either...they are my favorite BAND, as in a group of quirky, talented people who come together to support each other around a common vision and journey. The music would be enough even if they never acknowledged their fans at all, but the fact that they are such sweet humans and are gracious enough to include us on this epic adventure - in so many ways - means the world po! Love ❤️ Band-Maid theses amazingly talented beautiful ladies I saw them live for the first time last year and it was for the 10 year anniversary show and I was blown away was one of the best concert 🎵 ever! Misa Misa Misa is my inspiration for learning the bass guitar I really wanna let her know how much she is amazing 🤩 at playing bass hopefully one day I can get to tell her that after our concert I didn’t sleep all night I was still excited couldn’t believe that I was at the Band-Maid concert and just how incredible the people were too we having fun taking etc look forward too seeing what theses amazing ladies have for us in 2025! Band-Maid forever thx for sharing this with awesome 👏 😊🤘🇯🇵 Canada 🇨🇦 loves Band-Maid too ❤😊🤘

I love Band Maid, would love to see them live... I do wish they'd remember Europe, and when I say Europe not just the capital cities, wish they would do what The Warning do when they visit Europe and play lots of venues big and small.
Glad this was finally released. Many thanks to Ryan for asking an actual insightful question. Though I was also happy to hear they were open to performing in front of an orchestra. That would be awesome!
I am so happy this was finally posted. Experiencing the 'Thrill' of seeing them for the first time in Boston and meeting so many people will forever live in my heart. This band has already achieved their goal of World Domination by bringing so many wonderful people together from all around the globe. Great interview. Thank you po. 😃
Awesome interview. It was such a loooong wait. 😂 But it was worth the wait. We are all assuming there was much more to this interview, but I'll happy take what we can get. Bravo Joe! Bravo Ryan! BTW...I would have fainted if they were all looking at me as I asked a question.😆 I know Joe mentioned he dropped his phone, but all I could think of was..."was Ryan or Alan so nervous they dropped something?"😂😂😂 PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
07.50 Kanami 😍🔥 Oh man.. Band-Maid..Greatest band of our time. They have it all..Passion Work Heart Talent 🤘🔥 Magical band, amazing musicians, best friends. Band-Maid forever 🤘🔥❤️🇫🇮
This band surprised me since their beginnings, I now have them at the level I have Luna Sea and X Japan in my library... Go Dominate!!! hope I can see you one day in Mexico!
A great overview of what they can do and the effect they can have on people! Thank you for putting the different clips from shows, videos, and reactors into it.
Band-Maid has been my favorite band for many years now, they are just incredible in every way. I saw them live in both 2022 and 2023. Thanks for sharing!!
Really nice interview; the idea of Band-Maid with an orchestra is actually really nice; as far as I know Kanami has experience in writing classical pieces so maybe it would be an interesting project for her to write classical elements to some of their songs.
Ok, so this is the ominous interview. Thank you for being able to publish it after all. I have to admit, I had certain expectations and was a little bit disappointed. Quite banal questions at least for me and even though it's an American station it lost a lot of dynamic after the 5th time or so what do you feel about the USA?, what do you take away from the USA?, USA here, USA there, but not really much of substance about the band, their music and concept. Fortunately, Ryan contributed 1-2 interesting and substantial questions about the band. I would have liked to hear more questions like this. And the Fox Lady had to bring up the sexy Maids cliché of course. But for people who do not know them it's a cool introduction. I can understand a bit why the management might had a bit a hard time to give the permission to release this. In addition to some clichés in the interview, the ladies seemed to be a bit uncomfortable, for what reason ever. The lighting is not favorable, the skin is greasy and glossy, the eyes look sunken, the ladies look quite exhausted, not really an outlook one would choose for a promo-interview (I know it's rock nd roll and we like it, but in the end this is Saiki the Queen and not Lemmy or Johnny Rotten 🙂). Probably there were too many people in the room, I assume, you could feel a certain restlessness in the room and then somebody even knocked things over during an interview. And I mean this not to nag on the interview, but why the management probably did think more than once about it if they shall set it free as it doesn’t really match with their quality standards. Plus point: At least you put them on the screen with this release and together with the music video clips it is good promo for them at the end and that's not to be sneezed at. Thank's for this and your effort to bring them on the screen in the US.
I'm glad someone else made this post, and it's nice to see it got some support as most people now just want say everything is great. Accepting this level of quality is not going to help the band. The "positivity" of those people is going to hurt the band more than help. When you accept low quality (and even call it great) you encourage more low quality and a lack of effort (I'm speaking here in generalities; I'm not saying this interview was low-effort). In fact, I appreciate the effort. But I 100% understand why they would not want this published. Band-Maid doesn't accept low quality, and neither should you. First, let me make clear that what I'm about to say, I say not to demean the efforts of those involved, but to push them to improve. The interview feels more like a TH-camr doing an interview over Zoom, not like a news report that could air on a station in a major market. I grew up in a minor market over 30 years ago and this wouldn't have made the cut then and there. The audio/visual quality, the use of text instead of voice-over, the over-long sections of music between questions, and the jerky editing during the interview. The questions are hodge-podge with no flow to the interview; it doesn't tell a story (either the story of the band as a whole, the members, their tour). I will defend some of the questions. Of course I wish the questions were more interesting for us fans who know everything about the band, I understand that you need basic, universal questions if you're going to introduce a band to a wider audience. Anyway. At least now the mystery is solved.
Apparently there's a whole backstory that I wasn't aware of, but just watching this video, I would never have guessed it was on the channel of an NYC TV station. Lots of amateur TH-camrs regularly achieve much higher quality - lighting, sound, editing, etc.
I mean, they took a sofa, put it in a small room with one corner against a closed door. Jammed three of them on it, set up a light uncomfortably close and just kind of trapped the rhythm duo in the corner. It doesn't get much more awkward than this.
So many of the great bands of the 60s and right through to the present day were ruined by personality clashes and overbearing egos. Band Maid are refreshingly free from anything like that and I love them all the more for it. As well as playing the pants off those old guys!
Sugoi, so this is the interview that we've been waiting for? Subarashii I'm so glad that it's finally being allowed to be seen and heard, for putting this video up, argatou gozaimasou.

My favorite band going on 8 years now. Over 100 songs, and not a bad one in the bunch, and many different styles. If you like rock, in any of it's forms, at all, you are missing out by not giving them a listen.
ME, 2017! Waiting on a live stream to start. Really good rock was being played, Had to yell at my computer for a bit to get the band name. BAND MAID, right after the live stream I binged on these highly talented ladies.
World Domination would appear to be heading their way. Wonderful to see a band having such presence. It has been individual artists for too long. They would be a force in Australia, their music reminds me a great deal of the great 80 and 90s rock bands from Australia, which is very good. The power and the fun.

Thank you Fox 5 NY! Band-Maid! 🤘
One of the best band touring today. Thank you to give them the exposure they are deserving. 🙏
Thanks, Jack😊
Best band since the Beatles/Stones era. I love watching Saiki during interviews PO!
🤘Band-Maid rocks!🤘
So nice to see this interview finally getting released to the public!
I love the Maids! Best band on the planet.
The concert sound in the clips shown here is fantastic. I wish we could get the entire set.
Thank you! the band was kind enough to allow me to record there set. There audio engineer was amazing to work with.

9:43 - whoever came up with that question, thank you! Band-Maid with an orchestra needs to happen.
I have been saying this for a while......
Thanks! It was surreal and I was buzzing the rest of the night and next day!

I was at the show, it was awesome
Akane, the beast drummer.
and friend with Haruna Ono of the band Scandal!
I know its sound cheese but it's true: they're like a shine threw the night. Alway happy to listen them. Talking or playing.
Finally YES!!!!! Band Maid Rox! So happy you got em!!
Great interview. Too short even if you extended it but perfect for promoting Maids. Thanks dude.
Absolutely incredible band. Been to two shows and rank them as two of the best concerts I’ve ever attended! Keep up the good work ladies!
Glad we finally get to see this! Thank you!
Videos like this one just make me love ❤️ these phenomenal ladies even more.
I'm a very proud "MAIDIAC!"
Much love ❤️ and respect to BAND-MAID. Thank you for all of the phenomenal music and entertainment you've provided to us MAIDIAC'S over the years, and may it continue for generations to come.
🎶🎤🎸🎸🎸🥁🎶❤️🙏🫶
My favorite band going on 8 years now. Over 100 songs, and not a bad one in the bunch, and many different styles. If you like rock, in any of it's forms, at all, you are missing out by not giving them a listen.
ME, 2017! Waiting on a live stream to start. Really good rock was being played, Had to yell at my computer for a bit to get the band name.
BAND MAID, right after the live stream I binged on these highly talented ladies.
Thank you for the video! I really feel your love for Band-Maid in it!
Great to hear some good questions and the interview and finished video does not attempt to ridicule them or embarrass them. Well done Fox 5.
World Domination would appear to be heading their way. Wonderful to see a band having such presence. It has been individual artists for too long. They would be a force in Australia, their music reminds me a great deal of the great 80 and 90s rock bands from Australia, which is very good. The power and the fun.
MY SECOND FAVORITE BAND IN THE WORLD ONLY NEXT TO WARNING .....THAT'S IT❤❤❤❤❤
💜💛❤💙💚
Kanami🥰
Thank you FOX 5 NY and thank you MAIDIT Co!! Nice touch in bringing this up to the present day -- great way to relive the old and ring in the new!
Awesome interview. I love Band-Maid and their impossibly hard rock music.
This is what waiting for the interview thank you
Thank for releasing this, better late than never.
Amazing ladies; saw them in Tucson and the show was terrific. I hope they tour again soon!

I've been hearing about this interview for a while. Glad to finally see it! I would love to see a truly deep interview with the band that went on for a few hours...
Best band on earth. Saiki is also the best singer on earth. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love this group so much.
