    Hey man! Awesome vid! I’m going for my dp1 infantry course this summer and I am hoping to get my own footage if I can!
    I wanted to know how you went about mounting your camera? Accessories used etc. I’m hesitant to use the standard adhesive mount because I’m not sure how well it will stick to our helmet covers.

    • @101Guitarocker
      @101Guitarocker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The way I mounted my camera was with a band type mount over the helmet and secured with paracord in case it should get knocked off my head.
      I can't say an adhesive mount wouldn't work, but make sure you have a way to secure it. You don't want to loose an expensive camera in a field and not realize it for a few Km. You will not be happy and neither will anyone else looking for it. :)

    Great video man! I am looking to join the Army Reserves and am wondering how long the application process should take (considering I pass all my tests and have no problems with medical)? Also what would you say is the best way to prepare for infantry dp1 in terms of fitness?

    • @101Guitarocker
      @101Guitarocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t really comment on the length of time for reserve since I’m reg force. But for DP1 prep I would say be able to ruck. The most physically demanding portions are in the first 5 weeks and a lot of people get off course because an injury. Being able to ruck 80 pounds for at least 8 km should prepare you for the start of course. You will probably be rucking every 1 or 2 days. Overall fitness like running, calisthenics, and weight lifting should make you more resistant to injuries on course. If you do CQCB before course try not to get injured.

      From an Instructor's point a view and with 29yrs in the combat arms. I have seen candidates and trained Soilders rebadging. My suggestion join the regiment you desire prior to any training. Don't fall in the trap from the recruiters saying you can change trades after Basic Training. That only happens to a very small % with special occasions. I have called out a number of Recruiters that made statements as I mentioned. My advise join the trade you desire / Regiment ie RCR, PPCLI or R22eR. Good luck.

    Does training with the masks engender breathing difficulty? Also, in what ways does an individual fail the DP1 course?

    • @101Guitarocker
      @101Guitarocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The masks aren't to big of a problem, as long as you have a mask you can breath through. Basically the only time you are allowed to not wear one was when you are in your own room and the field. When in the field you don't really have to wear them. It's pretty much don't ask/don't tell.
      If you keep going and pushing through you should be fine passing. The biggest thing is injuries on course, the MIR telling you your not able to do something and quitting on yourself. I went to Wainwright so I can't say for Meaford, the physically most demanding parts where in the first 5-6 weeks with the hardest part being a 11.5 Km ruck march with 130-150 pounds plus a stretcher and water.
      Injuries, quitting, and safety are the reasons you can fail. Also passing all weapon qualifications.

      @math2222322 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can help you. It really depends on the job and the timing it also depends if your are going for the BMQ (English) or the QMB(French) as there is less french platoons in formation at one time. Past experience also play a role. For me, going for a french platoon in the infantry, it was around two month and a half on the competition list.

    • @zacharyroy4821
      @zacharyroy4821 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't know much about armour officers but 31 isn't too late at all. If you want some tips or have some questions about BMQ or DP1 inf, ask me, I will be happy to help you :)

    • @Whoro
      @Whoro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The armoured course is deffinatly not as hard as the infantry DP1. Each trade has their own DP1. Armoured will mainly focus on mounted roles and driver/survOp drills and weapons drills. 31 is still young, as long as you're in good shape and train , going recce won't be a problem. and tankers as long as you fit in the drivers hole you're fine lol.

    Awesome video man, would you be able to tell me literally anything about grenadiers lol, how you got the M203 and is it a difficult role?

    • @101Guitarocker
      @101Guitarocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In Dp1 everyone learns every weapon system such as the c9 and c6 machine-guns, m203, and rocket launchers. It is up to your staff who they give each weapon for the second half of course when you start using actual sections and tactics. Usually 2 m203 per section. The worst part about the m203 is carrying it and crawling with it. It puts your hand at a very uncomfortable angle and puts a lot of weight at the end of your rifle.

    During regular forces Dp1 do you have off on the weekends or is it full time 17 weeks?

    • @101Guitarocker
      @101Guitarocker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      DP1 was I believe 13-14 weeks. Getting weekends off depends on your course and course staff. If you fuck up royally and they think you don't deserve a weekend then you won't. It's dependent on the staff. There generally isn't anything going on for course on weekends.

      Are you referring to starting BMQ or DP1? From the time I initially applied for infantry (before CFAT and Medical) it took about 9 months to receive a letter of enrollment. At that time I would have gone to BMQ if not for medical reasons. In total it took me about a year and a half to be enrolled, waiting another few months to start Basic because of Covid. My basic was a little different than normal because I was in an all infantry platoon with mostly infantry staff in Wainwright instead of St. Jean. From completing Basic to starting DP1 it was about 2 months.
      Joining was definitely a slow process.
