    I had an instructor during BMQ years ago that was a pathfinder. The man was easily the most rugged individual I've met to date in my entire life.

      Back before BMQ even existed (yes, I’m THAT old) one of my instructors on QL2 (what basic used to be called) was a British Army guy who transferred to Canada back when the UK drastically reduced.
      He was pathfinder qualified.
      Easily one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met. But even now, 20yrs later, I can look back and honestly say “Still one of the toughest people I’ve ever met.” Wasn’t macho at all, but damn that guy had a presence about him.

      @@annaholton422 Not sure since I was never one but most people I know are in their mid 20's and early 30's. It could take a while depends on the timing since they don't do the courses very often. The Canadian Pathfinder certainly does require more that the US one. Just my opinion but US should consider combining their Pathfinder course with their Long Range Surveillance Leaders Course and reestablish dedicated units.

    • @cm-pr2ys
      @cm-pr2ys 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100%! I was thinking the same too. For whatever reason, the US Army thinks they don't need pathfinder training. If they combined it with the Reconnaissance Surveillance Leaders Course, they could knock out 2 birds with 1 stone, and they would not have to worry about losing the skills pathfinder teaches.
      I would go so far as to argue that Pathfinder should be first, then the course can transition into RSLC. That way if a major war suddenly happens while students are in this now 11 week long course, all they have to do is make it to week 3 and they have one skillset knocked out vice trying to do the 8 weeks of RSLC first which would take longer.
      Of course, since you'd now have to complete RSLC to earn a Pathfinder Badge, the Army should allow Soldiers to wear the RSLC Recondo Arrowhead Badge with the Pathfinder Torch in the middle to signify the completion of both courses/ attainment of both skills. 😉
