At the final battle scene, once they shrink Bowser with a blue mushroom, they put him inside of a jar. I believe this is a reference to Super Mario 3D World, where in the credits you see Bowser trapped in a jar.

This movie is one massive love letter to the entire Mario franchise. And I loved it.
The one Easter Egg that actually caught me off guard was the very beginning. Mainly, I heard the 1989 Super Mario Bros Super Show theme being played during Mario and Luigi's plummer commercial.
I even had a chuckle when I saw the Punch Out reference. I even said out loud, "Is that Glass Joe," when I saw his picture.

Two others that made me chuckle in the theater. At the antique shop you can hear in the background something like “This is a classic, you just have to blow into it” (reference to NES cartridge trick when not working). Once Toad and Mario reach Princess Peach’s castle gate the guards are lying when they stop them and say “The Princess is in another castle” (reference to original NES Super Mario Bros game at the end of each world before world 8).

I think the Ludwig on the piano could be a reference to Ludwig van Koopa, one of the Koopalings who takes inspiration from Ludwig van Beetoven. Also, near the end of the movie, Mario throws Bowser around from his tail. Most likely being a reference to when you fight Bowser in Mario 64.

MY favorite refrence was a quite obscure one. When Bowser is practicign his wedding proposal, the screen pans over to see his is reciting it to Kamek dressed as peach. This is a nod to New Super Mario Bros Wii in which the final bowser fight has a fake death revealing "peach" trapped in a floating cage is actually kamek facing away in a dress.

8:09 On the piano that Bowser was playing, there was a name, "Ludwig Van Koopa"
I think this was more a reference to the Koopaling whose name is "Ludwig Van Koopa"
Also, early in the film Mario says something like, "Its our destiny Luigi"
And then Luigi proceeds, "Destiny from high school?"
This might be a stretch, but is it a coincidence that Daisy and Destiny not only sound similar but also have a lot of the same letters? Perhaps Daisy came from the real world, just like Peach?

In Punch-Out Pizzeria, the man playing the Jump Man arcade is named Giussepe is voiced by Charles Martinet with a design very reminiscent of Jump Man's; sporting red pants held up by red suspenders, a blue shirt, a red hat, and his twirly moustache and pointy nose. When the brothers start doubting the commercial, Giuseppe turns around and says "too much-a? It's-a perfect, wahoo!" which is of course accompanied by iconic jump pose. He reappears at the end doing the jump and the "Wahoo" again when cheering for the bros.
When Mario and Luigi use the Power Star, the iconic starman theme is heard in the background as they lay waste to Bowser's army.
Another moment during the final battle is Mario and Luigi swinging Bowser into the air, an obvious nod to SM64 and the first 6 notes of the SMB overworld theme plays in triumphant fashion as they deal the finishing blow to Bowser as he tries stopping them with his fire breath much like Thanos did to Stormbreaker.

Hello again Dave! Here’s some more Easter eggs you might’ve missed:
    1. During the Brooklyn construction site sequence, a sign with a Game & Watch character can be seen.
    2. The name of the piano is also a reference to one of the Koopalings, Ludwig Von Koopa.
    3. Charles Martinet also voices a character in the pizzeria who remarks how he thought that the Bros’ faux-Italian accents were great 😂
    4. Baby Mario, Baby Luigi and Baby Peach can be seen in flashback sequences.
    5. Chunky Kong from Donkey Kong 64 also appears in the crowd during the stadium sequence.
    6. Not sure if this counts but the directors of the film also created Teen Titans Go, so some of the show’s voice actors appear in cameo roles. Scott Menville, the voice of Robin, voices a Koopa soldier and Khary Payton, the voice of Cyborg, voices the Emperor Penguin.
    7. Peach tells Mario how there are many galaxies, a reference to Super Mario Galaxy and a possible hint at things to come in the sequels.
    8. The rap heard in the commercial for Super Mario Bros. Plumbing is the theme song from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
    9. In the same commercial, Mario and Luigi can briefly be seen wearing their capes from Super Mario World.
    10. During the Rainbow Road sequence, a Koopa Paratroopa turns into the Blue Shell item from the Mario Kart games.
    11. In the same sequence, Funky Kong can briefly be seen.
    12. The enemy Snifits from the games can also be seen.
    13. The Bob-Omb and Boo attending Bowser’s wedding are actually King Bob-Omb from Super Mario 64 and King Boo from Luigi’s Mansion.
    14. Another power-up used is the Ice Flower.
    15. The Mayor of Brooklyn is Pauline, Mario’s original girlfriend from Donkey Kong, who also recently appeared in Super Mario Odyssey.

I really hope if there's a sequel, they include friendly goombas and koopas like those we encounter in the Paper Mario games. When I watched the scene where Luigi was trapped in the cell with Luma and the Kong families, a few Goombas and Koopas were also trapped in there. Giving me some hope that when they were all freed later in the movie, they would help the good guys get back at Bowser for trapping them there but it didn't happen for those minor characters. The reference could just be that Bowser treats his minions with punishment should they disobey or not meet his conditions with world domination like how it is in the games, which explains why some of his minions were jailed there. However, it still gives me hope we get some Paper Mario references and allies.
