My 5 year old son had so much fun at the movie, he was dressed as Mario and I was dressed as Luigi 😂. He really liked it and I was just a kid again enjoying all the references and most of all the music 🤗.
You forgot that the guards at the castle told Mario sorry our Princess is in another castle. Reference to beating the castles in the first Super Mario Bros game
Such a good family movie and so nostalgic. They did an amazing job. In the age where movies for readily available this was one I would even buy. It was great through and through.
It’s weird. I thought it was good. But I’m not sure if it was just because I had fun looking for and seeing references in the movies amazing production quality. I took my little sister who never really got into Mario and she just said it was okay lol.
This film puts a lot of smiles towards everyone who grew up with the Super Mario games from past to present one of the best animated films in our lives 👍
I feel like the Yoshi Egg was more of a callback to Godzilla 2000's ending with the single and surviving egg being in the sewers underneath the stadium than hopes for a second movie. Because they honestly had no hope for another when they have seen countless movies fail over these few years. But there's definitely about to be another since they brought in too much money.
One thing I will add, personally. Thinking about it after seeing it twice now, the scene where Luigi is holding the sewer plate. I thought it would be better is if Luigi reached his hand out to Mario, saying the same line, but pulls him in to help hold it, and then they let go together, basically forcing Bowser to push them into the star.
Wow, I've always been a huge fan of this channel, and I'm constantly impressed by the depth of analysis and attention to detail in your videos! 😊 However, I must admit that the level of complexity in this particular topic, the ending of SUPER MARIO BROS, went a bit over my head. 😅 Regardless, I appreciate the effort you put into uncovering Easter Eggs and hidden details. Keep up the fantastic work, and I'll continue to support this amazing channel! 👍🌟
This is the resume of the movie not the actual ending explanation... was hoping to get explained how they got bowser "boat" and everything else back to the mario world but like the easter eggs :)
To get the point of the ending, aspects of the movie need to be explained. It makes more sense to just go over the movie leading up to the end instead of jumping back and forth making things confusing.
This was a fun movie. Not The Last Wish good, but still very enjoyable! The animation was top notch and the score was great (the pop culture songs felt out of place). The voice acting was (especially Chris Pratt) was better than I thought it would be, though Jack Black stole that show. I did notice some of the easter eggs, but I've never played any Mario game before the Wii. I'm glad this vid covered a ton that I missed. I audibly cursed in the theater when they got on Rainbow Road ( I hate that tract) and also when the blue shell of death was unleashed. Also, TIL: Blue shells are suicidal koopas? It was a fun story. They did play it safe, but that should be enough for a sequel or two. Coming from Illumination, it was fantastic. Outside of the Sing franchise (especially Sing 2), I dislike their other franchises (No, I haven't seen Despicable Me).
The live-action film wasn't really a Mario story in the strictest sense of the word. However, it *does* stand on its own merits as an almost-entirely stand-alone sci-fi comedy so long as you go in not expecting a true video game adaptation.
Well there was one other Mario movie other then the live action version, but it was only released in Japan, but I guess that doesn’t count if you want a dub of it in your language. This is a great video
7:13 not sure but forgetting the "what the spineys are" might be anotehr reference, as they are descrbed sometimes as beetles sometimes as koopas. Bowser is actually right, we don't know what they are.
Kamek has actually been floating around since *at least* Mario World, though it's possible those are generic Magikoopas and Kamek is a specific named Magikoopa.
The movie was good. It did a great job including much of what fans love about Mario Bros…except Yoshi. But as stated, I’m sure they saved him for the next film.
idea if the 2nd mario movie is yoshi make a third about a pipe transporting them to space aka super mario galaxy i mean they had lumalee so its a possibility
I just don't want to waste hours on a story that can be surmised in under 15 mins let alone dedicate any time to researching lore I don't already know.
@@CyclopsWasRight616 I said a story. Not all stories. If I read or watch something like this and I like it, I'll go watch it. As I said before, this is the good way to get the general gist without having to sit through it all. To me, it's not worth watching and deserved the amount of time I gave it. But you can go watch it. You might like it and find it worth your time.
@@lynnstrelczik8953 So you'd rather know what happens in the end BEFORE watching the movie? Why spoil it like that? Where's the fun in watching the movie if you know what's about to happen next? ''If I read or watch something like this and I like it, I'll go watch it.'' I understand you saying that, but why watch the one that spoils the ending?
The movie is good and wanting a sequel. I want to know what happened that the people in earth now discovers mushroom kingdom and peach parents, how do the citizens of 2 worlds react to other.
My 10192738272627373 year old son loved this movie so much he set the cinema on fire and burned the screen using his acid breath it was very good movie so good that I watched it twice in the same hour
Good thinking. However, I don't think Bowser and his son will conquer the universe. Mario and the mushroom kingdom always win. My guess is what you said, where Bowser Jr. shows up and he rescues his dad, they attempt to conquer the universe, but they'll most likely lose instead.
I don't get how it needs explanation. Bowser was shrunk down, placed in a jar and then put in prison.....it's a kids movie how difficult could it be to follow? Lmfao
I think I like the original live action movie a little more. This new animated mario movie (2023) is ok, wasn't a bad movie at all, just extremely fast paced and should have been a hour or two longer in length time to slow the film down. It felt rushed and they tried to cram as much as they could without much development. I definitely expect a sequel which will probably be better, and again this isn't a bad movie. The ending however was probably the worst part of the film other than the fast pace, it didn't give a good conclusion on what princesss peach was now doing or how she was living at the end and all it showed was the mario brothers waking up in the mushroom kingdom where they now live and are connected with their real world and can warp anytime. I just wished it would have shown peaches life. The Yoshi egg at the end definitely suggests this wont be the last movie.
On your point regarding Princess Peach, I would argue we didn't need to see her since we can assume she went back to more or less the same life she was living before the start of the adventure, with a few new friends.
As much as i liked what they did with the movie, it kind of felt disappointing, i expected more. It was a bit too fast paced, and cringe for me here and there. I'm not sure how to explain.
Thank you for reviewing this movie because I sure as hell wasn't going to watch it. The 90s version was my Mario bros. Movie and it was fantastic! But hey, no shade for those who did like/enjoy this movie.

Honestly it was way better than I expected
Amazing
It was everything I wanted it to be and more.
I found the the movie so pleasing despite how much time and effort they put into it
ALSO if you didnt know the beat for the Peaches Song is actually a Rick roll Thank you jack black LOL
The animation and colours are just so visually pleasing
Yeah
Just the same motion blur movement that's been used in Ice Age
My 5 year old son had so much fun at the movie, he was dressed as Mario and I was dressed as Luigi 😂. He really liked it and I was just a kid again enjoying all the references and most of all the music 🤗.
I saw someone wearing a Mario costume who looked like they were 5 year old with a northern person who was older dressed as luigi
That's beyond adorable!
W mother
I enjoyed it... mostly all the references from the older stuff. My kids loved the movie and are asking me to take them again
The Bowser song was great! PEACHES PEACHES PEACHES, PEACHES PEACHES PEACHES,PEACHES 🎶 😂
😂😂😂

At minimum its entertaining. Anyone that's familiar with the franchise though its a great movie.

Nostalgia
When the Yoshi sequel comes out I want there to be as _many_ Chriss Patt Jurassic World Velociraptor references as possible.
With Mario being surrounded by Yoshis like Velociropter.
the scene with castle burger and the construction site was a recreaction of the first level In SMB
I loved the movie! Only wish it would slow down a bit for more character development moments! Other then that it was a good time
So glad you explained the backstory that so many people missed.
The Mario movie was awesome. Jack Black did an excellent job voicing Bowser.
The signs at the construction site at the beginning have what looks like Mr game & watch printed on them

I thought it would be better is if Luigi reached his hand out to Mario, saying the same line, but pulls him in to help hold it, and then they let go together, basically forcing Bowser to push them into the star.
If there is a sequel, I hope we get Daisy in it, or at least more power ups like cloud Mario, Rock Mario or Bee Mario ... but time will tell.

I took my son to go see it, and we both had so much fun, I actually stayed awake through the whole thing, usually I dose off a quarter way in 😂
One other easter egg that I saw was when princess Peach picked up the flower powerup, she wore her red & white dress from the 1985 game.

The 1993 version was soo bad but soo good
Like the Power Glove?!

I wanted more DK and luigi scenes, but still loved it. Oh and diddy Kong I wish he would've been in it more.
Chunky Kong, not Swanky. He’s the last member (of the DK crew) & sitting to the left of Diddy
The phone number in their ad works as well. Plays a recorded message from them
The phone number from their ad works too. Luigi has a prerecorded message for you.
Just gonna forget about the kamikaze blue shell in a kids movie 😅 I won’t lie I loved the rainbow road scene 😂💯
7:13 not sure but forgetting the "what the spineys are" might be anotehr reference, as they are descrbed sometimes as beetles sometimes as koopas. Bowser is actually right, we don't know what they are.
I completely forgot about Wrecking Crew, thought Spike was an original character.
Kamek has actually been floating around since *at least* Mario World, though it's possible those are generic Magikoopas and Kamek is a specific named Magikoopa.
Favorite part was hearing the DK Rap 🍌
That was Tiny Kong you showed on screen when you said Dixie Kong. Dixie is the one with the Pink hat and shirt
All people involved with the 93 live action movie should be arrested
When you hire Charles Martinet but not as mario
I have never seen donkey Kong get a power up like that flame flower that’s pretty crazy👀👀
The movie was good. It did a great job including much of what fans love about Mario Bros…except Yoshi. But as stated, I’m sure they saved him for the next film.
I think super mario bros the movie was so amazing and good video man :]
I feel like a kid again 🎉❤😊
Chunky Kong was in the crowd too
When he was fighting DK it's was a smash bros vibe,
My 10 year old son loved it and so did i. Good movie 👍
idea if the 2nd mario movie is yoshi make a third about a pipe transporting them to space aka super mario galaxy i mean they had lumalee so its a possibility
Peach on that Bike though 🍑 🍑 🤤
Did he call them "Skeleton Koopas"..?
They're called Dry Bones..
Great fun movie.
3D in the theater didn't really work for me tho.
The best scene for me was when Mario and Donkey Kong where fight their way to the wedding.
Interesting how they shot that scene from a moving side-on camera, making it look like a two-player 2D Mario game.
The scene with Mario vs DK reminded me of Thor 3
cant wait to see more from the NCU
anyone who needs the end of this movie explained to them probably can't work TH-cam.
I just don't want to waste hours on a story that can be surmised in under 15 mins let alone dedicate any time to researching lore I don't already know.

It never occurred to me until today to wonder why a game called DONKEY Kong features mostly monkeys
Please do Yellowjackets season 2 as a series! Please!!!😢 @ThinkStory
Why do they always have Bowser as the Final Boss, where’s Spike?
He actually explained the whole move in 13 min smh.
Three Words: Blue Shell Lore.
Very nostalgic movie ❤
Where was yoshi?
Wish they lived in New Donk city instead of Brooklyn
Spike wasn’t a plumber
This isn't alladin, this is Mario
Kinda bummed they never introduced yoshi

Not skeleton koopas Dry Bones
The way he pronounced Mario is illegal
Thanks, now I don't have to give Nintendo money!
Everyone Is making fun of him because he sounds like Chris pratt
😢 Does daddy no longer love me very much?
Princess peach would crush Elsa.

Yay!
It was great but the words “ritual sacrifice” have no place in a kids movie and its there several times.
Bruh ehat was the ending
