  • This well-known piece is taken from the 24 Pièces en style libre (24 pieces in free style) by Louis Vierne, his Opus 31. The pieces are available in two books, 12 per book, with this Berceuse being number 19, and so in the second volume. It is played on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the Cavaillé-Coll organ in Église Notre-Dame d'Auteuil, Paris. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position.

Gorgeous performance, Steven: bravo! The sample set of the Cavaillé-Coll organ in Église Notre-Dame d'Auteuil sounds beautiful with its shimmering strings and breathy flues. I particularly enjoyed hearing the 32' Soubasse at the end!

Many thanks for watching and commenting; much appreciated. It is a gorgeous piece and, as you say, such a fine sample set!
