This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the fine Hill organ in the church of the Holy Name, opposite the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, Manchester. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position, affording the most generous recording of the wonderful acoustic in this fine building.

It is based upon the familiar hymn tune Victory, tak...

Yes! - Mons Leidvin Takle [Johannus LiVE III AGO]

This lively and jolly piece was composed by Mons Leidvin Takle, and is dedicated to Marko Hakanpää. The composer's foreword in the music reads thus: "You are facing a choice in your life that will require a lot of you. You are in doubt whether to choose yes or no. The music in "YES!" is trying to describe a determined YES! All organs are different. So are we! And music is performed on all sorts...

Hi Steven, what a great performance! I wanted to get your feedback on the LIVE III if possible. I have the chance to buy one second hand, from 2017, and I’m seeing mixed reviews about Johannus as an overall organ maker. Could you share your experience with the instrument and whether you’ve been satisfied with it?
Many thanks for watching, and for commenting so positively. I have nothing but positive comments to make about my Johannus LiVE. I can't comment on other models of Johannus, as I have played very few of them, but am absolutely delighted with my LiVE. It does, of course, depend upon the sample sets, and I was fortunate to buy mine second hand with the previous owner having bought a large number of sets. It is absolutely wonderful to be able to go, at the press of a button, from a fabulous Hill sample, to a wonderful Cavaillé-Coll, and thence to a sumptuous Silbermann. As a home practice instrument, it is excellent, and where the acoustic is too washy to hear detail whilst practising, there is the option to hear from four different points in the building, thereby reducing the acoustic at the console!
A nice postlude about this in Germany often sung choral.
Very many thanks for watching and commenting so positively. This chorale melody is very frequently sung here in the UK, too!
Fabulous!
Many thanks for watching and for commenting so positively.
Thank you so much, Steven, for this splendid recording of my composition on the glorious Hill Organ sample set - the piece really fits this instrument quite perfectly. And even without the big reeds and weighty pedal, it still sounded good when you played it on the Middlesbrough Cathedral organ! I'm grateful for the support you give with playing my organ music - it is much appreciated: bravo!
Many thanks for your response, much appreciated, and for making your wonderful music so freely available.
A brilliant performance of a delightful piece!
Very many thanks for watching and for your most generous comment.
Thank you for sharing this lovely performance of Alison's great piece!
Very many thanks for watching and for your most generous comment. I am absolutely loving these latest two volumes; for my money they are the best ones, yet! Some absolutely compositional gems contained within.
This is wonderful. Thank you for playing it! Brian Lawson my granddad. This piece was also played at the funeral of his loving wife Jean, my grandma. Also it was played at the funeral of their only child, my dad David who sadly died before his mother. It’s a very special thing for me to have access to hear you playing this music. Thank you!
Very many thanks for watching and for commenting so positively. It is so wonderful to know of the particular memories you have of this piece, and that my playing of it is appreciated.
Wow This is very beautiful my friend! 👏🏼You did an awesome job 😊 (I covered this too btw) 🙃
Thank you so much!!
Great piece and beautifully executed.

Happy to report that the piece is to be published by Banks Music Publications.
Christopher Maxim Congrats! This toccata is outstanding, thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing the score when Vol. 1 is published. northernorganist the Cavaillé-Coll sample set is wonderfully exciting, as is the playing. Love it!!
It is such a good piece; I absolutely love it.
Thank you maestro for your performance - the Tuba and 32' reed is very much appreciated 😁 !!
My pleasure!

Thank you -- it's a great tune to begin with and really well played by Steven.
Большое спасибо за просмотр и столь позитивные комментарии.
Hi Steven, greetings from Lincoln. Nice instrument.. did you have a nice tickle on Euro Millions or something ?
Thank you for another superb performance of my music, Steven. You have captured brilliantly exactly the mood and colour of this piece.
Very many thanks for your kind words; much appreciated. I absolutely love the piece and will certainly be using it again in the future. I felt that the Cavaillé-Coll sample suited it perfectly, even if that meant no solo reed!

Very exciting, energetic and oozing with garlic - wonderful piece!
Very many thanks for listening and for posting so positively; much appreciated.
I'm deeply grateful for your astute performance of this piece, Steven. My old friend John Foster, to whom it is dedicated, would have been delighted to hear it. He died a few weeks ago, so the lament has fresh meaning. Lovely playing.
Thank you so much, Robert, for your kind words. It is such a lovely piece and one which I very much enjoyed playing.
Beautifully played, sir!!!....The organ sounds great....
Very many thanks for watching and for commenting so positively.
Hi Steven. I’m Jim Jordan, Music Editor at Paraclete Press. This is beautifully played! Thanks so much!
Very many thanks for listening and for commenting so positively. I have recorded quite a few of your publications, both composed by Robert and by Vernon Hoyle. Many thanks for publishing their works so that we all have the opportunity to enjoy playing them.
Great piece, which I was inspired to learn from a TH-cam video of St Denys, York. If I'm not mistaken your tempo is a shade slower than marked. This isn't a bad thing as crotchet = 100 feels hurried to me. The version on IMSLP is marked crotchet = 78, so perhaps it was an editorial decision to speed it up!
Many thanks for watching and for commenting so positively. I must confess to having played this for very many years without looking at the metronome mark, but getting a feel for how it sounds in the particular building (or, in this case, sampled building) concerned.
So far, Steven, this is my favorite. Very light and uplifting.
It is marked to be played "Jauntily", and it is a lovely little piece and, as ever with Robert's compositions, it falls very nicely under the fingers and feet, not to mention ears!
Beautiful as always, Steven.
It is such a gorgeous piece; many thanks for watching and for commenting so positively.
Beautifully done, Steven, many thanks.
Many thanks; such a lovely piece.
Excellent - seems quite playable as well! Lovely chords at the end of the middle section.
Many thanks for watching and for commenting so positively! I do always try to fall within the Church Organ World brief of "nothing harder than Grade 6". Watch this space for a recording of your Postlude...
Very effective and thrilling. Thanks Steven.
