For my tree company we rarely run the 088. It runs a 47" bar . I have the r version . Which is the western full wrap version. Sure helps when felling . They are pretty slow stock. I juiced mine up with a major port job and carb work and muffler. We run all 3/8 chains on all the big saws including this one. It sure helps in the cut with a lighter chain and more power after ending work. Days i need to use the 088 i dread it. With the 47 its around 55 pounds. Only bring it if need be. 660 and 362 . 200t climber do most of our removals .
I just seen the 881 at a local Sithl dealer and thought "Man, that is a BIG saw" but 55 pounds? ummm I'll deal with the 70 cc class and make it work lol
@@StihlRunnin Lol yeah I understand, if all it is doing is ripping that's okay right? Just my stubborn ass would want to hump it through the woods at times lol
Stihl 088 bare powerhead weighs 21 lbs. The 066 weighs 16. So assuming same bar & chain, you're looking at 55 lbs vs 50 lbs. But seeing that the bigger saw should cut quicker, total time spent lifting those 55 lbs should be less. Also, I must ask: is your 47" cutting assembly made of lead? 30 lbs seems like a lot. Hmm. 🤔
Same here, I hate using the 881. Its just a pain in the ass. It's heavy it sucks to start. Since the 500i got into the stable I haven't used the 881 since.
Hey Jenna 😊 I bought a husqvarna 592xp with 24“& 36“ bar in June this year. I’m so happy with this saw. I’m enjoying your happiness about your new saw 😅 greetings Robin from Germany 🇩🇪
I had one of these years ago for big trees that had come down on my property. The model was 084 at that time. 24" bar was perfect. I never used the 36" that came with it!
Much love. I am planning to buy one of this saw. I love wood working much. I have MS720 with 36" Alaskan mill and bar, also MS170. I does milling with MS720 and firewood or small tree freehand ripping with MS170.
I milled a few 16-18 in logs with my 455 rancher until I upgraded to a Husky 372XP use a 28in bar its a beast and still able to use it to buck and fell trees not to big. Wanted a 462 but couldnt find one.
There are sooo many „thats what she said“ moments in this 😂😂😂 But seriously, i have one and this thing is a BEAST for my big oak trees and when i work in other forests.
@chainsawjenna With 32 years experience , logging, trimming and removal, and Firewood :) That saw is WAY MORE DANGEROUS than it is heavy, and it does not care.
My big saw is an MS 650. I had it ported and polished up by St. Mary's. I bought it with a 32" bar for a Granberg. I then got a 42"bar for using all of my 36" mill ass you lose a lot on avoiding the nose sprocket. After that, I got a 24" bar for firewood. Anything smaller than 3 or 4 inches it just throws at you and I didn't want to be holding stuff with my foot beside that chain. I did try carving with the 32" bar and discovered wicked kickback even with a semi chisel chain.
I think it was Dave's Saw Shop, if memory serves that did the work. As for the mill, look on TH-cam and put a winch on it. The milling goes easier and more evenly. I built a replacement for my mill and spent 50 bucks to build one when I should have adapted one
@@michaelsnell4034 also get a bunch of 6" wedges... as you cut, stick the wedges in behind the bar to keep the slab from pinching the bar... youll also want a ripping chain which uses a 10 degree top plate vs a 30... not a requirement but it leaves a much nicer surface finish and will last longer
You're right, was hoping to see you start it. It may be more than a big girls saw, this saw is a handful for most men, and requires due respect for safety reasons.
quel magnifique machine, que de belles courbe, et une puissance inouïe... la machine bien sûr soyons d'accord 😅😂😂😂😂. bonne journée à vous, amusez vous bien avec votre nouvelle machine
Jenna, I just came across your channel. I'm a huge fan of chainsaws, axes and forestry. I love my Husqvarna saws but appreciate any brand. I've ran the top three companies, Stihl, Husqvarna and Echo. I love to limb and buck storm debris, dead trees, etc. My best friend is a wonderful artist, carpenter and gradually got into chainsaw carving. I'm going to tell him about you channel. We live in upstate NY. I live in the southern Adirondacks and he lives two and a half hours north near Saranac Lake. He carves wolves, eagles, the Grateful Dead bears and even did a life like tall carving of big foot for one of his neighbors. Could you run that 881 and buck some logs, I would greatly appreciate it. I just purchased a new Husqvarna 365 71cc. That's my biggest saw and all, I need. God bless you and stay safe.
Now you have a whole new set up with 404 chain, bar and sprocket. Buy replacement chain and sprocket now. Is the chain round ground square tooth? Square ground chain takes a very expensive grinder or lots of experience sharpening with a special file. Should be a lot of fun either way.
I thought my 500i was a big mean saw until I got this one 🤣Its great on the mill though running a 48" bar. Hardwoods are the dominant tree I work with, so I'm happy with as much power and torque I can get
ha, I got a Stihn vintage 90 power head with 47" bar. i could do 8 cookie cuts log 45" dia. and tired. had fill oiler after 2 cuts. told 13hp motor. I could not stop chain, slower speed but tons of torque. You be careful, that a handful of power !
IMO a ported ripsaw 661 is WAY more reliable than an 881. An 881 is good for milling, but Jesus Christ almighty is it hard to start. Even with the decomp valve!
I want to buy a Stihl backpack blower and i want it to come in a box just like you have in this video unboxing, can you help me out, please? I went to a local ace and they sell it assembled already with all sales are final they wont sell me it unassembled inside its original box and if it's used no returns accepted.
There are some You Tube videos of some guys from Indonesia climbing huge trees barefooted, cutting on the ground, etc. They have no safety equipment and use the Stihl MS881 and a giant Husqvarna to cut down/cut up HUGE trees. No problem.
Hey kiddo that's a big saw ya got there girl. Let me start this off by saying that your cute as a pink button. And do you really think you can handle that monster saw? That's not just any saw kiddo. And be carefull with that thing. And most of all don't cut your leg off with it.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaam girl, that chainsaw is bigger than you are. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 At least you have good taste in chainsaws because as we all know, STIHL RUNS THE YARD. 😊👍🏿 #stihlpower #stihlisyourdaddy #stihlrunstheyard
