I'm sure you'll love your new 500i the more you use it. I love mine for sure. I have a friend who had a 500i buck and cut her across the face. She ended up with right around 100 stitches in her face and a broken orbital socket. Thankfully, she experienced a quick recovery. That's mostly due to the fact that the chainbrake stopped the chain before it hit her. If it hadn't, I fear she may have lost her life. I share this story because using a chainsaw with your left hand on the rear handle deceases the effectiveness of the chain brake and I'd certainly hate to see anyone lose life or quality of life due to an easily preventable accident. I'm thrilled to see you setting a positive example with PPE. I've had a helmet save my life, and yet I find it challenging to convince some folks to wear appropriate protective equipment. Happy sawing and have fun with that 500!
It is hard enough for people to obtain knowledge, wisdom died off long ago. I am sure she was more concerned about camera shor vs safety. Thank you for your effort.
Awesome❤…just bought a 500i last week, 25” light bar…only used it for test cuts thus far, but it cut like a banshee in hard 20” oak!…my dealer says you really need to pump that primer bulb a bunch on a cold start…I use a 261c, Husqvarna 540xp, and an Echo 2511t for fire wood cutting…but occasionally have need for a bigger saw…so here we are 500i!!!
My cousin been in the tree logging business for 30 + yrs he's one the few black logging company in the east Coast and south but Stihl just sent him brand new saws and equipment for being a loyal customer 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Maybe stop reducing people to the color of their skin, what does your cousin being black have to do with any of this, is it suddenly such an accomplishment that a black guy can do work like that??? If I want a logging company to work the only thing I care about is if they do good and safe work, the last thing I’ll care about the color of their skin, black people can do what white people can do and white people can do what black people can. Skin color is not important in any context. Also you might wanna work on your grammar a bit.
Hello young Lady. I just found you today and like your channel. I have been cutting with my 500 i - 25 inch bar for two seasons now. It is the best I have ever used. Please take some good advice from me. Saws can kickback when you least expect it so you need to Keep your right arm straight because you no one is strong enough to stop a kick back that can kill you. Yes I have a lot of experience at 76 years old. Today I just finished cutting and stacking about 6 cords. Anybody that thinks they know everything an't been around long enough to know anything.
Those 500is are amazing saws even though I personally don’t like them and much prefer a 390 husky they are great saws stock and port up well. Those stihl light bars aren’t bad, really flimsy/flexible if your limbing or slashing brush but they hold up pretty well, the 28in bars are decently stiff but still a little flexible, it should be fun to see what you do with it, fair warning the first few hours of run time it’ll be fairly weak but after it breaks in and the computer lets it really run they wake up significantly. Watching that first cut with it is wierd, I’m so used to ported 500s or 661s or 390s/592s I forget how “slow” they are stock😂
I’m so glad to see your using PPE. A lot on here don’t. I do have two issues. One is under you sometimes use crocs while sawing and two, you drop start the saw. I understand it’s a convenience thing but it’s dangerous could you do a safety video on proper use of chainsaws. Other than that I really love your videos. They are amazing and you have a great talent. You have also inspired me to do chainsaw carving and I currently own a Stihl MS 180 and MS362cm. Going to get a MS500i soon. Thank you and keep up the work and please be safe.
Wow, the excitement here is contagious! The 500i looks like a total beast 😍 Love how you took us along every step - especially seeing the light bar setup! Have you felt a noticeable difference with it? Can't wait to see what you carve up with this beauty!
I never thought of the 500i (79.2 cc) as being a mid-size saw, but it's definitely a beast of a chainsaw for its size. Are you left-handed? I've never noticed anyone cut with their left hand on the throttle before. If I held a saw your way, it would feel weird to me! 😀 Just wondering if that's a left hand thing, because chainsaws are designed for right handed people.
I’m left handed, but pull trigger with my right and stand on the recoil side of the saw. I can’t say for sure, but her way seems more dangerous. However you got to do what’s comfortable.
@@walter2670 wayyyyy more dangerous. Watching her neck crossed over the bar made me cringe big time. I’m a lefty here myself and had to struggle through learning how to use a saw “properly” (right handed) but now it’s second nature.
Hello. I don't know for sure but maybe you haven't tried pushing the decompression valve in assuming there is one because you may already know it makes starting easier when pulling the cord.❗️
I think you had your chain too tight because none of my chains just stop after I let off the throttle. You might want to loosen it up a little. I’m also curious if you broke that saw in before cutting that 26 inch log? I always do break-ins on all my saws for good measure. I will own one of those saws some day but I am a Husqvarna guy 😬
@chainsawjenna check out some of the aftermarket mods for that bad boy, exhaust, intake, bar cover, and felling dogs. also on thee bottom of the saw you can find the oiler adjustment to control bar oil flow.
Nice!! Sometimes, in Ken's woodworking, he sees a tool and knows what he wants to make with it. Kinda the opposite of letting the wood decide what it's going to be. Besides the 2 slices, what will your first project be?
The only things that seems to be the set back is the air filter after watching so many vids...the saw looks n sounds nice but paying that much u shud have to deal with set backs....I want to get 1 but might just get 592xp husqvarna
That's one whale of a saw. I figure that you are stronger than you appear from working with chain saws as much as you do, but that saw looked to be fairly easy for you to wield showing its balance.
Damn! I am so jealous Jenna! I hope the mosquitoes come to Northern Virginia soon so I can make an a$$-ton of money ASAP. The chain in the beginning was a bit too tight, just an FYI.
I do log homes. I have a Stihl 362. I'm watching this video tryna convince myself I don't need the 500i which I don't. Am I Stihl gonna buy one? Probably.
Well, you bought it, you saw it, it's a beautiful machine, I am too, I'm super happy with it, it was my dream machine You mean I love you, keep going, I love the video

I thought the Sthil dealers always put them together and test ran them before selling them ??
@@davidjain148 Maybe some do, but I've definitely seen people take home a power head in a box with a bar and chain in the other hand 🤷♂️

Beauty of a saw , the acceleration on them is crazy!
Mabey let the saw warm up for at least 30 seconds before running it wide open. It'll last longer.
GREAT saw I love mine got it ported & bark box. 👍👍👍👍
