College junior here reminding y’all to touch grass and not buy into the fear mongering. You’ll be fine. Life is a marathon not a sprint, contrary to analogy in the video.
In two years time you’ll be worrying about internships or grad school applications, and will barely remember the time spent on your undergrad applications out of all things. It’s not like getting into a great school magically sets you up for life, it’s just one step out of many, and it’s not worth to spend your entire life stressing to such an extreme extent.
I can guarantee that for 99% of people life won’t revolve around your college admissions, and for the 1% where it does, they’re no better than the people whose life revolves around time spent in hs and ended up peaking at 18.
College Freshman here. Please start now. Don’t be a failure like me. I busted my nuts on essays last minute and it sucked.

I was able to crank out my personal statement in just one day..I carved an entire day out to making it, but also I was going through probably the worst personal crisis of my life junior year, so I just wrote about that and tied it to my life really well.

I had a down junior year so I locked in the summer before senior year. Luckily I already had a good common app essay back in Junior English. It was for “This I Believe” Essay. I tweaked it during the summer and prioritized working on the rest of the common app and supplement. Senior year I maintained straight A’s for the first semester, and am going Boston University this fall.

Hey Pratik. Loved the video. You should consider making a part 3 to the college app reactions as I see you are thinking about based on your comment, but also consider making a video guiding students through how to go about every year of highschool. I know you did this in your ivy league roadmap but a separate video detailing each year in depth would be fire and definitely helpful to a large amount of your viewers

what are the prompts I should be writing about?
College essay really does matter. I did no extracirriculars,clubs and only 6 ap classes with a 3.75 unweighted gpa and still got waitlisted to ucla, Irvine, San Diego. I literally wrote about ap chemistry and how it helped me chose my major for an entire piq. However I mainly wrote about my household responsibilities. The big issue was I did all of this a few weeks before UC applications were due. My friend told me to start writing in the summer but I only made the google document. Even though I got better results than I expected, I suffered greatly and my college counselors were also not very happy about it. Even though waitlisted is still cool, I feel like a major factor was that I completely bullshitted an entire piq on my best skill, and wrote it in about 3 days.
Do you think the common app or supplemental essays matter more for BS/MD admissions?

Hey P, I'm going to attend SSP this summer and they don't allow personal computers. I'm going to be away until the end of July so I will only be home for one month of the summer. How should I approach essay writing with this time crunch?
nah im going to ssp too just work on the weekends or during some of down time, they give u laptops

I'm an upcoming Junior, and I'm a little confused. I understand writing your essay beforehand would give you a momentous boost, but I thought that the essays that we're supposed to write must be based off a prompt like in com app. Like whats the point of writing an essay but the essay isn't based off the prompt that they give us. If it's for practice then that's smart and I'll totally do it, but please correct me if I'm wrong which I prob am 🙏

Well you should remember your only a freshmen so you shouldn’t have to stress yourself out already you still have plenty of time to write a lot of creative essays.
