Dude I can’t express my gratitude to you. First up u just explained my life so far and I’m so happy that you are asking us to prioritize our studies and preparation for college instead of watching your video. Props to you 😊 Ok I finished the video. You have great advice and I agree with everything that you said. Safe to say that you’ve earned yourself a subscriber. Keep up the inspirational work!
For Questbridge applicants: You get five spots for your ECs, and ten for awards. It's a great idea to join more competitive clubs or to compete in independent things like essay contests because of this.
As a 2019 QB scholar, I did my QB app to colleges (also my general QB application) w/ 0 ECs, but the most important part from QB was the essay + the fact that a lot of schools separate or review your application again within the low-income (also probably first-gen) context.
ME: Supposed to be studying for the SAT but decides to watch this video for fun PREACHING P: If you have homework, get off this video right now and go do it. Dang, I feel like he knows me 😅
Immigrants parents kid here.didn’t know that you need so many activities or awards for college.I am a rising senior great academically but absolutely nothing to put in the activities section.regret not starting early.
Bro I graduated from high school in the year 2022 from India. In India if you want to get into med school you need to write the exam called NEET to get selected which is written by almost 2 million people. In first attempt I can't crack it so I took a drop year to prepare for the exam. After I cracked the exam in 2023 I found out medicine is not for me. So, I decided to pursue physics. But at the time I made this decision most of the top universities in India admission has already completed. Now I am planning to apply for the universities in US as a international student for fall 2024. Do you think the colleges would accept a person with 2 gap if he have good academic records? I confused right now 😕
Try for UK, or Germany or Italy or something. They mostly only look at your grades while US looks for ECs a lot US is a little turbulent rn due to sheer competition and the student debts are something too
the funny thing is the pomedoro technique works for me so i like grinded work and so in my break time i came to this vid and bro just said, "do ur homework"
pratik yoi're videos are CRAZY accurate, im a junior now and im really trying to be a unique applicant what do you think i can do besides grades and research? ive also been whatching ur vids every since 200 subs! im def tryna gatekeep ur vids lol
Thanks for the video dude. I was wondering - I played tennis at a national level and won some pretty prestigious awards / trophies. Am I allowed to include these national sport awards in college admissions even though I am not going to play tennis for them (I am going just for academics / studies)? Do you think it is a good idea?
Hey! I am very thankful to you for guiding us scaredy cats through the college app process though I had one question, Can I list me shadowing a surgeon as an EC? (I am currently in 11th grade and I spent the summer after my 10th grade shadowing an orthopaedic surgeon, sat in on surgeries, making of patient records and even a bit of managerial stuff like checking what medicine is not in stock, etc. I even got to make a few plasters, got to pull out K-wires, and even got to talk to the patients along with the surgeons in the OR.) It was an incredible experience but I searched online and all of them are saying that shadowing doesn't count.
Definitely put it in! Especially if you got to do those things on your own that you listed - that shows leadership which colleges really really seem to like
I'm a senior completing my common app right now. I basically have like 3 activities and 0 awards. What is your best advice for me? Should I try to cap on my application?
Focus on those three activities and try to make them stand out in your descriptions or supplements. You don’t always need awards to get on top colleges, but what you do need is to show work ethic and honesty.
Remember that an activity can be LITERALLY ANYTHING. Community service, family responsibilities, hobbies, groups, etc. Also, you can put simple awards like merit roll or class rank. You just gotta put something…😅
Hi preaching p I am in 7th and taking Algebra one and am the highest performing math student in my grade for my small school. Everything seems so complicated I wish I had a blueprint, do x get into this school. Although I'm learning that does not exist. I don't know if I should go to math camp to do a lot of activities, focus on my activities, or even if I should worry about this now. PLEASE HELP.
Hey bro your Vedios are so good to find loops in my application a quick question what is your opinion about my common app essay about saving a life of my peer through motivation
hey preaching p W video as always however as a upcoming freshman how would you advise when feeling stressed or overhelmed with all the work like classes and extracirculators
exactly the same for me man. i got into all this and to be honest I'm not even that smart-smart in the first place, so how the hell do I already get involved in national things and all that
Turn to Jesus Christ guys! He loves you all very much. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” :)
biggest mistake you'll ever make is not smashing that like button (i wish i knew this)

Don't worry you have a lot of time. Just focus on a spike and try to enter a science fair. You got it!

same my parents discouraged me from doing ECs, saying they weren’t needed, and really only emphasized GPA
watching all these vids as a freshman , ur literally the only youtuber that gives me some sort of direction of what i’m doing in high school
You're blessed to be in the best time to watch this video and getting into this. Go ham brother
