I 110% agree with your camlock nose compared to a screwed nose. I like my lathe but I would love it if it had a d4 camlock! Love the oil can. Might have a crack at one of those. Cheers
Gday Peter, this is the first lathe I’ve had with the D1-4, I don’t think I could go back to having a screw on chuck, thanks for watching and commenting, cheers
@@MattysWorkshop I've been lusting after a Colchester Student or equivalent, but here in WA they're as rare as rocking horse sh&t. Did you get you newbie from H&F?
Hi Matty, This is an interesting series... I must admit I have not wondered how an oil can works so see in build from scratch is good... Take care Paul,,
Good to see the new lathe getting some play time, I'm enjoying this build. I hear you about not having DRO and trying to measure in a system that your knobs aren't graduated in, I deal with the same stuff when trying to make a part called out in Metric. Usually I cheat and convert but I know that adds error.
The oil can build is coming along nicely Matty. I still think you should’ve made a couple of these and offered them up for sale to some of your subscribers. I reckon you would have had some takers mate 👍🍻
Thanks Aaron, I have thought about doing that but I’d like to get in and try to fix the apron on the small lathe or at least have a go at it anyway, I could always make a couple later on sometime...
Gday, thanks, the new lathe is really nice, the wood splitter I’ve had for about 5 years now and it’s worth it’s wait in gold, I’ve never had a piece of wood beat it yet..
Again Matty loved part two of the Oil can totally amazing process kind regards from Scotland 🏴
Thanks very much Andrew, great to hear you enjoyed the video, cheers
So happy to be along for the build.
Awesome, enjoy mate

Paul,,
Gday Pail, there really not much that makes the oil can work, couple of ball bearings and springs, few seals and away you go, very simple design...
im both amazed and horrified at the mix of imperial and metric dims throughout. im havin an aneurysm
Don’t worry I get mixed up to..

G’day Matty it’s looking really good, some nice machining. Have to wait for the next episode. Cheers, Peter
Gday Peter, won’t be long and the next video will be out, I think you’ll like the end result..
Great work!
Sounds like that lathe is working awesome for you
The lathe is absolutely awesome, I’m glad I went with the Taiwanese not Chinese..
Good one . The more you use the metric grad's the easier they become ! Cheers .
Thanks Max, hopefully I can get my head around it, me and mathematics have never bonded very well...
Nice work Matty. Love your machines, love your attention to detail. Love the SuperAxe in the background as well. Keep up the good work.

Gday Rodney, plans are from the Hobby machinists forum..
