what's the best explanation why IC (Integrated Circuit) is in Square/rectangular shape, not circle?? Why they manufacture it on that shape?

For the signal go out for the system,for example,the system have so many sensor to test different aspects of the machines,use the air-condition as example:temperature ,humidity,Fan Rotating speed，time ,to know when the home temperature is high,the air condition need to run fast of fan to bring down the temperature in the room.And it need to check the dust in the room,and other informations.Every aspect need a signals.
