    Thank you Alan for the honest comparison In terms of sound, the X600 is clearly positioned below the Boom Plus and has to be measured with the Boom. Two of them are still cheaper than an X600, which means that there is no need to ask for a purchase recommendation. That was clear from the start. The X600 is only interesting because it is a masterpiece in terms of manufacturing, for which one should be willing to pay the extra price. It won't make it into my collection. Others are excited and happy about it.

    I wish I had seen this review a little earlier. But you helped me make things right - I ordered the X600 for 170 quid (expensive, but I thought okay if it's as hyped as the people are telling me I'll be okay for a while) - the sound did fill the room, for sure, but it's nothing ground breaking... a little too thin for my liking. You really have to be positioned in a sweet spot and have to mess about with that EQ to get something decent out of it. Some tunes sounded okay some not so okay. I listen to a lot of house and I do like my bass. Bass was a little muddy and lacking on the lower end for sure. I did like the metal build quality and the overall feature. I returned it for a Motion Boom which was like 70 quid and pretty much sounded the same with a bit more bass but wayyyy less in terms of cost.
    I'll wait for the next version of the x600 - please add better/deeper bass, more battery life, USB output to charge and possibly a WIFI module. Then I'm sold. In it's current form it's just not worth 200 RRP or even even with a small voucher. Needs to be price at around 100 quid or so. 120 MAX.
    *Edit - I also returned the Motion Boom for a Motion Boom PLUS - wanted to go much louder. Both booms are nice IMO.

      @@alanrossreviews ah bass wise anything over 65ish% volume I switch to outdoor mode, indoor mode in TWS can get quite loud so I'm usually under that anyway, tracks from rock bands like qotsa, royal blood ect sound bloody awesome to my ears and if I want anything more dance or electronic then I usually go to the motion booms 🙏 because as you said in your videos they do become a bit bass light/ screechy especially in indoor mode. Outdoor mode is a big volume boost overall and between 65-85%ish sounds nicer for when you need that volume. Certainly not a perfect speaker by any stretch but for around 50 quid I think they are good value and probably my favourite at that price

    The Best Bluetooth speaker I have ever heard??
    the x600 is not for audiophiles or lovers of music as its creator wants to convey it. He never thought that the design of his tracks, his careful mixing in the studio, the panorama of his stereo would be interpreted on this x600 with a third speaker mixing the stereo channels at will and taking away their original spatial panorama... where it is precision and respect for the creativity of musicians?
    Nothing more to say by now... thanks again, Alan, you helped me to decide the speaker for me, and that is the Motion Booms. I REALLY enjoy music coming from my two of them in TWS. Keep honest, dear friend.

      im impressed you appear to have sat through it all 😁 yes this is the point i tried to make. you cant claim this to be the best speaker ever when its not even attempting to be true to the original. not that it matters, at the end of the day, i stick with my motto, if you like it thats all that matters. im just wondering how many of the BEST SPEAKER EVER channels are really being fully honest. I accept that some channels i watch and respect and trust are saying this, thats fine. but when the channels saying this are also spewing the soundcore marketing line my bullshitomter goes full on.

    So after my minirig failures and being seduced by the dark side of TH-cam x600 reviews😉, I've decided to get the x600. Got a blue one brand new for 125quid, so a very good deal.
    I always eq the shit out of my sound, so it sounds like the x600 is going to be a challenge..... I'll make it work as I found the minirig 3 really treble heavy and managed to tame those little beasts and the sub helped massively. Saying that, a minirig 2.1 set up posts over 400quid, so really don't know what to expect from the x600. Also need something smaller than the motion boom plus's and JBL extreme's of the world, which is where the modularity of the minirigs came in.....I'm really hoping the x600 is fit for my use 🤞

    Alan, you're definitely overlooking its clarity. The thins as you put it is the definition most needed to get the over picture of the sound. The low bass is more for the baby teenagers who like a rave party full of cheesy DJ music. Ok, perhaps warmth to bring in some earthiness is needed, which might be a tough order, but getting a driven sound, this has. Two speakers is a new order and I commend you for that, bringing something new to the table. Soundcore need you, so dropping you off their roster is not a cool move. You're the best reviewer, I've no doubt about that!
    However, I think you need to get away from the bass mix from time to time and look at what not having it brings.
    It would be good if you have a chart of what make the top tiers and low tiers or a top 20 of your favourite players..
    This is the current KING, Alan! ... If you can't beat them, join them!

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its really not. Deep bass is not for teenagers, electronic music tends to have boosted upper bass not deep bass. Deep bass as in 65hz and down is fundamental to so many instruments it is the bedrock of any track. Its also a little bit offensive to think rave music isnt as valid as classical or any other genre you might prefer. Music is music. I do address all genres. I have talked about how easy it is to tune a speaker for self acclaimed audiophiles, they simply equate crispy clear sound as being flat and neutral but real music doesnt actually sound that way. Take the x600 for example, they simply boosted the 8-9khz region to achieve that. It is indeed a thin sounding speaker, clear yes, as i have repeatedly said but not neutral and not flat. Indeed upmixing stereo to an upward firing driver means you are further, not nearer, to the original mix. It only upmixes stereo so it will never play correctly actual spatial tracks. If you like the speaker then thats all that matters. Im not telling anyone what to like and not like. Im just giving my opinion, its up to you guys to agree or not agree.

    • @Jahreas
      @Jahreas ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair play, the upward speaker is doing something useful, I don't know what though, if you cover the speaker, there's not a lot of sound there, I think the sound mix is mainly software.. I think lower bass could kill the room sound and rumble the mix too much, I think this system is aimed at clarity... But perhaps are making note as we speak. .. When you hear the music from another room , it does carry very nicely. Each track might need tweaking from old classic rock to baby faced rave ... But for me this system does rock!

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jahreas not sure what point you are making here. I understand you like it and thats good, nothing else matters. the mix is the onboard dsp chip using all 5 drivers to create a virtual 3d experience, its dynamic so will change depending on tracks. as far as sine wave sweep goes it show in spatial audio the sky driver is boosting the 1khz, 8khz and 13khz region. those last two peaks helping give it an artificial crispy sound. you are arguing it is better to go for clarity over bass. thats fine, thats your taste. even audiophiles would argue for a balanced sound not one with an upward tilt. you can have both clarity and bass. they are not exclusive. boosted bass will drown some clarity but extended bass will not. making the case based on how it sounds from another room? im not sure how to run with that one. 🤣🤣 i mean you gave your opinion, i gave mine, you seem to be trying to convince me i was wrong? i said it was thin sounding, it is. i said it was clear and had clarity, it does. i said the bass is lacking and easily distorted. the speaker totally relies on a 60hz peak in the passive radiator which looks undersized. the woofer rolls of steeply from 75hz, thats something you normally see on smaller speakers and this is £200 dont forget.

    • @Jahreas
      @Jahreas ปีที่แล้ว

      X600 kills those two little ones, sorry that thumping bass is burying the sound, x600 punches through. Clear winner! Listening to this through the x600. Fatality win for the X600. It's the best! 🤠
      Alan give it up! Nice try!
      😅

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jahreas your trouble is mixing valid points with silly points. first time i heard the motion plus described as having thumping bass lmao! its hard to get past the x600 being proclaimed as some sort of audio holy grail as you cant get further from the original actual track if you tried. upmixing stereo into 5 drivers with one firing directly up and the dsp actually killing the original track. i understand those with untrained ears and no real reference will like that. thats fine. i said it sounds nice with a brief listen. one may wonder why you make so much effort to suggest im wrong even when it is measurably very bright, inaccurate, lacking real bass, heavily distorts and uses a boosted upper bass punch. your every post simply makes me wonder your real motivation. disagree with me by all means, i like that, strong opinions. but your efforts here simply degrade your credibility.

    Sorry Alan, couldn't initially recognise you with those winscreens on, my friend brought his x600 round today which we played alongside my motion boom plus and my stormbox blast. They should have not made the spatial audio switchable as in my opinion it sounds lifeless when switched out. If I was to compare them to guitars, the MB+ would be a Telecaster, the SB blast a Gibson Les Paul and the X600 an Ibanez. It looks as if the X600 has been made for the John Lewis audio department 😅

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think they made it switchable on purpose. i believe they want you to keep hitting that button and be amazed at the difference. but the truth is they tuned stereo mode to sound dull to enhance that a/b effect, in my personal opinion of course 😁

    Great video as always Alan,
    Its interesting you mentioning that the x600 is not very EQ able is a shame because I don't know weather you have noticed but it does have the most customizable EQ in the sound core app compared to other sound core speakers.
    When you enter full band EQ function you now have the ability to drag the 9 sliders across the frequency range to set a fine EQ curve, though to my ears it doesn't seem to make much difference maybe this feature will be improved upon in future firmware revision's?

    I don't like the Motion X600 either, it is also quite expensive and you have to get other speakers.
    It's also disappointing how much more bass the Motion Boom produces.
    And I, quite a few acquaintances, were waiting for a worthy successor to the Motion plus.
    It seems that the years go by and somehow there is not much progress in the bluetooth speaker market.
    I still use a Dockin D Fine Plus in 2023, it supports APTX codec.
    There is a smaller speaker that I can take with me everywhere, this is the Tribit Maxsound Plus.
    It makes no sense to replace it with an equal one, because everything that is better than this is significantly more expensive and larger, with the exception of portability.
    I think that finding the ideal speaker always depends on the individual, for someone bass is important, for someone clean neutral sound.

      worthy successor to the motion plus indeed would be a cool thing. i did writed to soundcore my list of wishes for the motion + successor. 1.bigger battery 2. fast charging 3. a bit louder (maybe 35w) . considering number 1 and 3, it means speaker could grow a bit and for me it`s acceptable to be 200 gr. heavier. i wish the form stays the same because its just so cool. and yeah sure that angled direction need to stay, together with the 3.5mm input and the aptx. my special wish would be adding the possibility of turning the speaker on without touching it, means turning it on through the soundcore app. actually i dont get why any speaker on the market (as far i know) doesnt have that cool possibility?
